Oliva Munn credits her look to skincare & Japanese potatoes: fib by omission?

oliviabeforeafter
In March of 2014, Olivia Munn, 35, stepped out looking like she’d had something major done. Her eyes were much higher and wider and it may have been a blepharoplasty (eye lift) or some kind of injectable. Above is a before and after pic I did of her at the time from one month to the next – the difference is obvious to me. If you look at the photo below, of her in 2006, you can tell that she’s had even more done. Of course she’s thinner than she was before but it’s more than that. Her eyes are different, her nose is different and she looks like she’s someone related to the person she was before.

munnbefore

Sure she’s thinner, but does she look like the same person now?

All Star Dog Rescue Celebration

That’s all preface to this Instagram post that Munn recently made in which she posts side by side photos of her face and attributes the changes in her skin over a year to weight loss, using Proactiv (she’s a spokesperson), shaping her eyebrows and eating Japanese potatoes, which are rich in antioxidants or something. Here’s what she wrote:

Ask anyone who knows me and they'll tell you I love research. Convinced that there's got to be natural, healthy ways (ie not only the rich and connected can do it) to keep your skin from aging, I do lots of research. Who says guys are the only ones who can get better with age? We're gonna turn that myth around, if we share what we learn with each other. So here are 4 skin tips I've learned just over this past year that really helped the texture and shape of my face. Left Pic: 1 year ago. Right Pic: Last month. 1. I lost 12 pounds this past year while training for Xmen. I kept it off by coming up w/an hour workout I do a few times a week. The weight loss leaned out my cheeks and jawline. Working out is also great for your skin because it increases blood flow to your face which helps rejuvenate. 2. Reshaped my brows. I do my own brows and always thought they were supposed to have a high arch. Then a facialist pointed out to me that I was shaping my brows into a frown. So I let the top of my brows grow in (which is never fun because it looks spotty for a few weeks) and then I plucked the bottom. That gave my brows a more horizontal angle and instantly brightened my eyes. 3. Got rid of sunspots. I love my freckles. But over the past couple of years I've seen more come up and merge with other freckles to make large dark spots. Dark spots prevent your skin from reflecting light and gives you a dull complexion. So for the past year I've been diligently using @Proactiv Mark Fading Pads. I wipe my face with one every night and now my face has a more even tone and the large spots aren't as noticeable. 4. I've talked about this before and I still stand by it: Japanese potatoes that are high in Hyaluronic Acid help keep wrinkles away. Look up this video: "Connie Chung Yuzihara" to learn all about it. There are Hyaluronic Acid pills and vitamins but I think that the best way to get it in your system is by eating them in foods that naturally have them. I'm still looking into what gets rid of the lines that develop around your neck. I think it has to do with tension and acupuncture might be the answer. When I find out more, I'll let you know. 👯👍

That’s a lot of text, but in the past year I can see how the changes she’s talking about could be due to the reasons she’s listing, except for removing her freckles. That looks like some kind of laser treatment, but I suppose avoiding the sun could work the same way too.

It just comes off as insincere when celebrities swear by certain foods or skincare regimes and have had obvious work done. Kudos to the rare few (Jane Fonda and Susan Sarandon come to mind) who admit that they’ve had work or injectables and also add that they believe in exercise or certain treatments. That said, her eyebrows do look better. I need to reshape mine as they’re getting too bushy, similar to her before picture. Her after photo is giving me #eyebrowgoals.

She’s only 35, she doesn’t look particularly filled or pulled and she’s gorgeous, it’s just… insincere.

Yup both her and Megan Fox face changes are just down to diet and exercise.

    • Wiffie says:

She total totally Megan Foxed her face.

Funny because they had similar features, and were fresh faced and beautiful before everything they did.

      • Livealot says:

I say she Bristol Palin’d her face

      • tegteg says:

Seems like a little bit of Palin and Fox. After looking at her instagram photos, I definitely agree she got her jaw shaved (a la Palin), nose job, eye job, cheeks, veneers, and maybe some subtle lips – that’s debatable, but when someone has literally tweaked every other part of their face, it’s likely they also did something as noninvasive as lip fillers. Oh, and lasering off her freckles. Her eyebrows look good, but the reason she looks so “good” is because she bought a new face. Japanese potatoes my a$$.

    • QQ says:

and the magic of Puppetry!!! ( and Fillers and veneers and the best skincare hollywood can buy , I mean we DO NOT buy this is proactive skin fr fr??!, right?)

Also Please don’t let this one launch a fuck!ng skincare/website/lifestyle something cause that is all I envisioned with that post she did on IG

    • EliCaroline says:

HA! As soon as I saw these pics I immediately thought – she’s been Megan Foxed.

    • charlie says:

I was just about to come down to say that it looks like she and Megan Fox have the same surgeon. Or, excuse me, “potato vendor.”

    • mp says:

haha yes x a million! Megan Fox Megan Fox Megan Fox. They look like twins.

    • Mila says:

i agree she totaly looks like Megan Fox now.

    • Penelope says:

Olivia looked so lovely and fresh-faced before, too. Kind of like Megan did.

      Sigh.

  2. Nev says:

I need to look for theses Japanese potatoes!!!!

  3. BendyWindy says:

Well, I believe her. The changes from the past year are subtle and quite possibly from what she mentions. Hell, my complexion looks different just from changing my foundation, which could explain the freckles. That said, yes she’s had work done in the past. Either way, she’s gorgeous to me.

    • me says:

No way in Hell those freckles are going anywhere without diligent use of an AHA and sunscreen ever, single, day. And that takes years.

      • Marty says:

        Thank you!

      • BRE says:

I’ve faded most of my freckles and dark spots (which were far worse than hers) by using Rodan and Fields reverse line. It took a good year and I must be obsessive with sunscreen but you can fade your freckles by using hydroquinone (faster results) or a vitamin C mixture (slower results). I looked up proactiv and they use hydroquinone so YES she can use that product and fade her freckles. Now her nose is another story

    • Anna S. says:

Proactiv bleaches your face (as well as your towels and pillow cases) so that’s where the freckles went.

      • bk619 says:

I have used Proactiv for years and my freckles are still here, haven’t faded at all. It does bleach your towels and stuff, but not your freckles. I like my freckles so I don’t mind.

      • me says:

Benzoyl Peroxide bleaches your towels which is a main active in that skincare.

      • J.Mo says:

Guys, she said the mark fading pads, not just the product line.

    • cd3 says:

I believe her too. After being pregnant, I had weird blotches of dark pigmentation on my face. I used this Kiehl’s clearly corrective dark spot solution for several months after. All of the pigmentation is gone now. I scar very easily and continue to use the solution on scars from cuts or kitchen burns. Even old kitchen burn scars on my hands and arm have disappeared completely.
So, yes I do believe her.

    • Pepper says:

Proactiv got rid of my freckles (and turned by black pillowcases white). Stuff is strong.

  4. Mimz says:

    I don’t know I don’t see it.
To me she lost a lot of weight, and is aging. When people grow, their faces change too. I’m sure she does lasers and stuff, but the nose thing could really be crazy contouring, new makeup and etc.
I don’t think she got plastic surgery. Maybe I’m being naive but on her I just don’t see anything except weight loss, aging, probably great eating habits and exercise.

    • StormsMama says:

      I totally agree
To me she looks like she’s lost the baby fat and gone the way of most Hollywood actresses- ie thin is in and thinner is what’s for dinner
Additionally I think she’s gorgeous and don’t understand this witch hunt type of picking her apart?

    • ab says:

I don’t see it either, though I usually don’t notice any of this stuff unless it’s super obvious. I mean, your body and face are going to change a lot from age 25 to 35. I’m just seeing aging, weight loss, and taking better care of herself in general, which is normal.

    • I thought I was crazy (although I can never spot people unless it is super obvious)……but she looks the same to me in all the pics.

    • mp says:

Is it just me, or did she look better pre-weight loss?? Her face shape was fuller and cuter (IMHO).

    • krtmom says:

      I don’t see a big difference either. I don’t understand her appeal.

    • Pepper says:

I don’t see major work either. She maybe tweaked her nose and eyelids ever so slightly. Maybe. I’m not sure why people are acting like she’s got a brand new nose and a ton of eyelid space now, if she’s had work it’s been really minor and well done.

Mostly she’s just lost weight and employed the services of a good make-up artists and hairstylist.

  5. georgia says:

I believe her because I’ve had every eyebrow shape ever in my short 26 years of life and they literally change your face. Especially during the Chola phase.

  6. Marny says:

She looks the same!!! Sure, her freckles are lighter but her eyes look identical. In some photos she has her head tilted down, in some she’s looking straight on, etc. and her eyeliner is different in some of the photos but she really doesn’t look like she’s had any plastic surgery- much less drastic work!

  7. Sisi says:

She lost weight but has increased cheekbone volume? yeah…

The rest of the work seems subtle. Nosetip perhaps. The crease looks slightly altered on her inner-eye area, and I see change in eyeliner and fake lashes so she also changed her make-up.

Everyone in H’wood has facials, so whatever.
For someone in Hollywood her changes aren’t all that controversial.

    Also antioxidants are overrated.

    • Mel M says:

Yep, I said in a post a couple of weeks ago about her that it was very obvious her cheeks had been filled. Her bone structure is different period. Weight lose doesn’t change that, plus look at her body back with her old face, it looks virtually the same size so if she did loose weight she didn’t loose nearly enough for her face to look this different. Her lips look a little fuller as well. Go look at her IG acct and compare pics from when she first started it to now.

  8. NotSoSocialButterfly says:

Her biggest lie by omission is that she had her angular jaw shaved down. That is the most blatant change. I also think she had a gentle eye job- her eyes are no longer so hooded, and some volume injected into her cheeks.

    I smell pants on fire.

    • AJ says:

Exactly. The whole shape of her lower face changed. That’s not weight loss (she was already skinny) or potatoes or eyebrow plucking. That’s sawed bones.

    • imqrious2 says:

I can attest that weight loss CAN change the shape of your face! When I was heavier, my face looked VERY square at the jaw area. Now that I’ve lost weight, my face appears oval (and my cheekbones just POPPED out (thanks to Mom and Grandma for your bone structure!! :-)). So, I’d say it’s possible that her face appears changed from weight loss (and age).

  9. Greenieweenie says:

She shouldn’t have done that to her eyes. I see it–it’s like erasing your heritage off your face. She looked interesting before and now she’s just another Hollywood face, imo.

    • mp says:

yeah I think that is what is problematic about this to me too. Why try to look like every other Hollywood girl out there??

      • Timbuktu says:

Agreed! I loved her, she was so unusual and striking, and now she looks so generic and in those last photos (with a huge smile and red lipstick) almost Kardashian.

  10. jammypants says:

I think she looks the same but thinner and with better makeup.

  11. perplexed says:

I only see slight differences between photos, and I’m not sure if those differences have to do with her looking at the camera from different angles. She just looks like she lost weight to me, but other than that it’s hard for me to tell what other changes have occurred to her face. I guess she does resemble Megan Fox, although, again, I’m not sure if that’s because of weight loss and make-up. The changes in her face don’t seem that dramatic, like when you see Halle Berry’s new nose next to her old one (and even with Halle Berry I wouldn’t say her changes were that dramatic either, but at least I could tell in her case. With Olivia Munn, my eyes are squinting to see the changes).

  12. Marty says:

What’s the point of instagram posts like that? Now everyone’s going be calling her out on her bullsh**t.

    1. She might of lost 12 lbs, but it’s a moot point in comparing them against photos with totally different angles like she did.

    2. Yes, shaping your eyebrows does enhance the symmetry of your face, but her eyebrows look the same to me?

    3. No way she got rid of her freckles/sunspots in that short amount of time. Even with active AHA’s it would still take awhile.

    4. Hyaluronic acid is good for hydration, but as far as getting rid of them? No.

    • me says:

Ah, the skinnification of Hollywood. She had a post on People.com that looked even worse. I love her total BS ‘answers’. Be transparent! Is she bathing in 25% Vitamin C daily? Even then, years! No make up can hide that many freckles, either. And she was so beautiful. Still is, but all tweaked and generic. Yawn.

    • perplexed says:

Now that you mention it, I’m wondering why she made the Instagram post too. It’s like inviting people to talk about your face. Maybe she has a beauty line coming out…

  13. serena says:

It looks like she did something to her jaw, I don’t know about her eyes-area but she looks like a mix of her old self + Megan Fox in the second picture, and that can’t be good.

  14. Cookiepuss says:

Looks to me like she’s lost about 40lbs which thinned out…everything. Definitely some sort of laser facial to remove her freckles. I’m a freckle face who, for some reason, happens to make a lot of Japanese potatoes and my freckles haven’t budged. So I don’t think she’s gotten work. She’s just gone Hollywood.

  15. Cynthia says:

I don’t understand why she would change her face so drastically; she looked amazing in the 2006 pictures. Her natural hooded eyes, the freckles and the natural shape of her face made her striking , different from the interchangeable starlets. But then again I don’t have a job involving so much rejection and obsession with physical appearence.

  16. Sue says:

She didn’t shave down her jaw, it’s just that in one picture she’s looking forward and in the second picture her face is turned at an angle. What she did do was raise the bridge of her nose, so her eyes look closer together. That’s why her eyes look different. Megyn Fox had the same procedure.

    • Timbuktu says:

If you look at her 2006 and 2015 photos, it’s not at all the angle. The angle is about the same there, the only difference is her chin has dropped a little more in one photo. But that would NOT make such a huge difference, no way. In 2006, her face was almost square, now it’s almost a perfect oval. Her eyes also used to be “drooping” (for the lack of better term) a little downward, and now they are going upward on the outer edges.
I see a lot of changes that just can’t be attributed to a weight loss, no way. If anything, weight loss should make her jaw even more square.

  17. liz_bee says:

Both Munn and Chrissy Teigan have the same issue where the top half of their faces always looks frozen to me. The eyes are just dead at all times. It’s unnerving.

  18. TEAMHARDY says:

Why are freckles ugly? I think they make you look young and beautiful. Removing them is also a sure fire why to tell the world you f*cked with you face.

  19. susan says:

She had a complete overhaul (cheek implants or fillers, Botox, laser resurfacing (all the freckles are gone) and a definite eye job. I mean, that is obvious at least. She had an eye crease put in to make her look more Caucasian and less Asian.

  20. mialouise says:

She looks EXACTLY the same but with different makeup.

  21. Beckysuz says:

She got horse teeth veneers. Which look unnatural and change your smile. Hilary Duff did that and looks similarly strange compared to her “old” face.

    • perplexed says:

Oh yeah, her teeth do look more normal in the 2006 photo. I wonder why she messed with them — the original set of teeth look nice.

Is there some reason everybody wants big teeth? Did Julia Roberts make them popular?

  22. Hejhej says:

In the second last photo she looks SO much different. It’s totally Megan Fox’s face!

  23. Deedee says:

For someone of Asian descent and eating Japenese potatoes, she looks less Asian than ever.

  24. Jayna says:

She looks the same to me, except her face is thinner. She lost weight. Her face is thinner, plus as you age, you lose more fat in your face. She has done a little filler in her cheeks, but nicely done, not too much, and she has done a little botox to lift her lids a bit. I know a friend who did that. It was just a little bit.

She’s done peels or lasers to get rid of her freckles.

  25. Deevia says:

Let me read it out – eyes, cheeks, jaws, nose to de-Asian her features cuz that’s one race getting the LEAST work in Hollywood. I mean Koreans are notorious with all those typical procedures too BUT the key is to look like a beautified Asian ideal. Olivia now looks like 100% Hollywood ideal of white women. @ the other commenters saying it’s make up:

Eyes – it takes a sh!t load of eyeliners AND eyeshadows in darker shades to create illusion of larger crease. Nothing in her photos.

Jaws – No amount of contour can change the OUTLINE of your jaws – where your bones meet thin air 🙂

Nose – Upper bridge raised where it was concaved before. Contour can only make nose appear smallers.

Cheeks – done with jaw often to harmonize the face so I suspect witchery at play here too.

  26. ell says:

staying out of the sun doesn’t get rid of freckles. i know because i have tons, and yes if i’m in the sun i have even more, but they never go away no matter what i do. i’m of the opinion that if people want to have surgery it’s their business, and celebs don’t owe anyone an explanation when they do. i hate when they pretend it’s skincare or something else though, because that’s lying. just shut up and get on with it.

  27. Jessica says:

It isn’t just weight loss or aging, she obviously had work done and now looks plastic. But when hasn’t Munn been a complete phony? And she must have been begging her agent for the longest time to get her some kind of endorsement deal and she could only come up with Proactiv. I love it.

  28. Athena says:

You people are all absolutely SAVAGE. Comparing her face now to 2006?!?!? Do ANY of your look remotely the same as you did ten years ago?!?! If so, I need your secrets. I take really great care of myself and I am basically a completely new face (surgery free) from 20 to 30 years old (2006-2016).

Seriously. You are fishing for shit to gossip about at this point. This site has deteriorated so much in the last year. Peace out! 🙂

    • GossipHound says:

I agree! I am a year younger than Olivia Munn, and my face has changed a lot in the past 10 years w/o surgery or any other procedures.

      • me says:

I look quite similar to what I did 10 years ago when it comes to my freckles still being here, using sunscreen diligently, retin-a, diet, exercise, great haircare, maintenance, and with not tons of money and an agent. It’s not savage to clearly see a person’s work. A face doesn’t change that much in 10 years without a little work.

  29. jojo says:

    She’s giving me Whitney Cummings

  30. na na says:

I think she looks alright. not as drastic as Megan Fox, who went from a hard 10 to a barely 7

  31. Heather says:

She is really a pretty lady! I think she definitely had her hooded eyelids removed and/or lifted. Honestly, it looks great. Also maybe some slight nose work. Overall, beautiful!

  32. Apsutter says:

Yea…ok b*tch. Been watching her since Attack of the Show and she could not look more different.

  33. idontknowyouyoudontknowme says:

My previous comment didn’t get posted.. not sure why. Either way, this Blind item is absolutely about her.
    http://blindgossip.com/?p=76866

At her age, while faces change, eyes don’t suddenly become wider, noses don’t become higher bridged.
She looks very fake, and typical plastic looking now, no diff.between her and Kim/Megan, etc.
Extra LOL at her attributing her changing looks to a magic potato 😀
