Britney Spears thinks her dad is drugging her

Britney Spears’ is suffering from some extreme paranoia again. According to the latest gossip, Brit is convinced that her father/conservator Jamie Spears is drugging her to keep her under his control. The entire notion is especially suspicious given that Britney’s former “manager” Sam Lutfi admitted to Brit’s mother Lynne Spears that he drugged her, and Britney has been in communication with Lutfi and his accomplice/her ex-boyfriend Adnan Ghalib. Makes you wonder if Lutfi is planting the seeds of paranoia.

Britney Spears has a new fear — she’s worried that her dad is drugging her.The singer, 27, is currently under the conservatorship of her father, Jamie Spears. And Britney has “convinced herself” the patriarch is upping her medication to keep her subdued — so he can stay in control of her life.

“Britney is sure her father is out to get her and that he’s drugging her to turn her into a zombie who won’t fight back,” a source told British magazine Look. “Ever since her breakdown last year when she was hospitalized, she’s been on prescription pills to battle her panic attacks. Her doctors have also prescribed anti-anxiety drugs Valium and Ativan to deal with stress and to help her sleep.

“As part of the court-ordered conservatorship, Jamie has to make sure Britney takes the correct dosage because she forgets to take them otherwise. But lately she’s been nodding off randomly in the middle of conversations and is convinced it’s because Jamie’s giving her too much much.” The source adds that Britney’s friends, “tell her it’s because she’s working so hard and performing every night on her Circus tour.”

But Britney, says the source, “thinks there is a more sinister reason and insists her dad is drugging her to keep her under control. It’s a bad sign that Britney’s paranoia is rearing its head again. She’s sneakily sent text messages to her ex-boyfriend, Adnan Ghalib, and told him she needs help because her dad is poisoning her. She’s desperate to untangle the conservatorship and get her dad out of her life.”

[From Showbiz Spy]

Last time Britney was drugged her behavior was incredibly bizarre. It’s hard to tell how much was due to a mental breakdown and how much was due to pills in her drinks. Obviously it would also depend on what she was being drugged with, but she doesn’t seem to be exhibiting any behaviors that would lead most people to think something duplicitous was going on.

Britney’s friends are right: nodding off a lot is much more likely due to her rigorous concert schedule (and strenuous performance routine) than being surreptitiously medicated. And if she’s eating sugary crap, that could make her tired too. I’d think it would be more rational to focus on getting more sleep and eating better – tenets of basic health – than assume her father is drugging her.

Omg. I almost threw up at the sight of that teeny little bikini on her. She should consider going a size up, just a thought.

As for the drugging business, paranoia at its finest.

  2. kap says:

Sure it is paranoia, but there’s something about her family that’s really creepy. An ex-manager (or something/not Lufti) said in an interview that he felt she needed to get well and get her kids back into her life, not become the cash cow again supporting the whole family. Makes me think JamieLynn did the right thing by getting knocked up. She must have saw how they pushed Britney and didn’t want to wind up a train wreck like her big sister. Lufti (as creepy as he is) said something in court papers that made sense. Where was her family when she was spiraling out of control? They waited on the sidelines until she was really bad, then committed her and took control of her life and money. Now they’re pushing her to keep performing when she is NOT well. Think most people would agree with that assessment.

  3. Di says:

Um. I don’t think he’s trying to harm her, but it is possible that she’s over-medicated. If she needs that much medication to function then she shouldn’t be on tour. They’re still exploiting her. The family has multiple problems

It’s pretty hard to gain control over someone’s life if they are not a threat to themselves or others. I have a family member who definitely could use a conservator in their life, but we’ve been told over and over that as long as they’re not a threat to themselves or others there’s nothing anyone can do, legally.

My point is that it may have been legally necessary for the Spears’s to wait until Britney was really far gone to have enough proof to step in. It sucks, especially when it’s obvious the person needs help. Don’t get me wrong — I’m not a Britney fan and I’m sure the Spears’s family life is not all sunshine and rainbows.

And as for the “source” feeding this stuff to the newspaper, my immediate reaction was Sam Lutfi. I could be totally off-base though.

  5. Codzilla says:

If I had to put up with that brain dead dipshit on a regular basis, I’d drug her, too.

  6. tasteT says:

what she feels she is acting too normal or something???

    crazy chick

  7. judy says:

She falls asleep a lot and she thinks her dad is drugging her and I can believe it. Her family is all about HER money.

  8. j. ferber says:

Maybe her meds need adjustment. She should check with her doctors.

  9. georgiagrl says:

    Kap
I agree with you. When $$ are involved, people will do anything, and the Spears are absolutely crazy. All of them!

  10. heh-heh says:

    Still wanna be famous, kids?

  11. boomchakaboom says:

I think Jamie Spears should win a Pulitzer for getting Britney back to a semblance of her old self. I feel for the man and have nothing but respect for him. As a daughter, I would hope my parents would always be willing to take the least popular position if it meant saving me from myself.

  12. cherryblossom says:

That man deserves a nobel prize…she’s not quite the same anymore, but look! She’s so much better.
And here I was waiting for the obit.

I, this is embarassing, but I always loved Britney and while I’m not as much of a fangirl as I once was, I still root for her. Chances are he is drugging her – with meds. A lot of times the side effects can be trigged with any little change.

And, for the record: She might be the family cash cow, but it’s often strongly advised by psychologist to have someone getting over a nervous breakdown go back to work. It creates structure and a sense of self worth. It’s having to much time on your hands when things get out of hand.

  13. kris says:

so what if shes the family cash cow? its better than the non relative Sam lufti and the crazy adnan ghalib will take over her fortune and make sex tapes out of her. we all know that lufti drugged her. she was mentally sick when they were together.

  14. Raunnie says:

Britney some true friends, who are looking out for her and to get away from her parents for awhile. Prescription Drugs are not the answer; they are addictive and much harder to get off than illicit drugs. This is why big Pharma makes big $$$ and the sickcare oops I mean health care industry is growing. Britney is not paranoid; in her heart she knows the truth. She is being forced on tour to make the money; she would rather be with her kids, but that won’t pay for Jamie and Lynnes mansion and expenses. By the harsh look in Jaime’s eyes, he is dabbling in the drugs himself. He gives me the creeps worse than Sam Lufti or Adnan Ghalib combined. Lynne is no better. I wish Britney the best.

  15. Em says:

I think the evidence of Britney’s Dad saving her speaks for itself. The difference between her 2 years ago and now..is like night and day.
Sounds like she is just paranoid. If the story is even true.

  16. CeeJay says:

Sounds like the Lutfi propaganda machine is working again. Give it up Lutfi your 15 minutes are up. You’re lucky your ass isn’t in jail. And, haven’t your shenanigans done enough damage to your mother’s business enterprise? Find a job, leave the Spears alone, and drift into obscurity. You have nothing to offer the Spears, or for that matter, society in general.

  17. tigerlille says:

Who knows what the truth is. But if Britney is simultaenously taking Valium and Antivan, the competency of the prescribing physician/pyschiatrist is open to question. Antivan is just another form of Valium, and both are highly addictive drugs that can cause mental confusion and short term memory loss, just for starters. Highly dangerous combination.

  18. boomchakaboom says:

Tigerlillie: Short term memory loss and mental confusion pretty much describes Britney’s behavior prior to her dad taking over. She obviously has a mental disorder which made the conservatorship necessary in the first place, and it’s highly doubtful she will ever be able to take care of herself without help. It’s true for schizophrenics, and for all we know she could be schizophrenic. It doesn’t usually manifest itself until a person enters early adulthood, which is about the time Britney started acting so bizarre. We don’t know what the situation is, but Jamie Spears is the only person who seems to know what to do with, and for, Britney.

  19. Nneikha says:

why would a father drug his daughter??but since y’all say that the spears are crazy…her latest album was so cool…i thought she’d make it..apparently she’s tumbling down again…i really hope she’s OK!!

  20. Aleksa says:

I take Valium as a muscle relaxant, because of a physical illness. I also take morphine for the pain. They can make me a tad tired, but not sleepy, but then every body has its own chemistry and reacts differently to meds.
To Raunnie I would say that prescription drugs are not more dangerous than illegal ones, in my opinion.
I have never taken illegal drugs, but I can tell you morphine is supposed to be highly addictive, and in the past I´ve needed to be off it for operations, and I´ve stopped taking it any time I needed to, with no problems, only an increase in pain that I just put up with. It´s all about how strong you are inside, and maybe Britney is not strong at all…

  21. gg says:

So Zoloft and Paxil are harder to kick than heroin and other street drugs? WRONG! To get off antidepressants you have tyo follow your doctor’s approved GRADUAL (the key) reduction in pills.

You don’t crash, you don’t go into convulsions, you don’t get sick, etc., none of that. I know this from personal experience. If you screw up and reduce too fast, the worst thing that happens is you get a bit dizzy, which is amendable within hours of taking a small dose and decreasing gradually, like the damn doctor told you to in the first place.

It would be a simply lovely, perfect world if nobody ever needed any medicine. But our world ain’t perfect.

Please, don’t spread false information about prescription drugs. SOME people do need certain meds. If it’s your opinion that they are dangerous, so be it, but don’t make up stuff that’s just not true.

  22. Anoneemouse says:

She really is nuts if she thinks that. I have a feeling this will become a permanent conservatorship.

  23. gg says:

I have a feeling that Mr. Already Tried That has falsely put that into her mind, since he already did that and knows it’s possible.

  24. for_realz says:

As the Kinks so aptly stated:

    Self-destroyer, wreck your health
    Destroy friends, destroy yourself

(Yea, it goes like this, here it goes)
    Paranoia, the destroyer
    (Here’s to paranoia)
    Paranoia, the destroyer
    (Hey hey, here it goes)
    Paranoia, the destroyer
    (And it goes like this)
