Charlie Sheen is trying to reduce his child support payments: predictable?

Charlie Sheen spent $10 million dollars or more paying off handfuls of porn stars (whom he’d already spent millions of dollars paying to keep him company) so that they’d keep his HIV positive status a secret. He also wasted his money on private jets, vacations, crack, luxury goods and expensive watches. So now that he’s running out of money he’s cutting back… by requesting that his child support be reduced. He does pay a whopping $55,000 a month in child support to both Denise Richards, with whom he has daughters Sam, 11, and Lola, 10, and Brooke Mueller, with whom he has six year-old twin sons, Bob and Max. That’s chump change to Charlie as he would regularly drop that much money on company for a weekend. Now that the cash is running low he’s reportly requested that his child support payments be reduced to both of the ex wives with whom he has minor children. It’s not surprising considering that he’s already kicked Denise Richards out of the mansion he bought for her down the street from him. She’s currently suing him for the $7 million profit from that home, which he was supposed to put in trust for their daughters. (Note that major outlets are reporting that Charlie is seeking to reduce payments to Brooke. Radar Online claims that he is also trying to reduce payments to Denise.)

Charlie Sheen has requested a reduction in the amount of child support he pays to ex Brooke Mueller for the former couple’s twins, Bob and Max, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE.

According to the court documents, the actor currently pays Mueller $55,000 per month for the children, 6.

In the papers, Sheen argues he should pay less child support now, because he has seen a dramatic decrease in his income from when the agreement was made. According to Sheen, he was once making $613,000 per month while working on Two and a Half Man, which he left in 2011.

Although he admits to selling his rights to the show for a total sum of $26,750,000, Sheen says that he’s currently earning $87,384 on average per month. Because of the difference in income, he says he cannot keep up with the monthly child support payments.

The 50-year-old, who recently revealed he is HIV positive, adds that he spends about $105,000 in bills and other fees, and spends an additional $25,00 per month in medical costs not covered by his insurance.

Aside from his monthly expenses, Sheen also says that he has legal fees mounting to nearly one million, as well as credit card debt totaling almost $600,000.

The original agreement was made in February of 2011. A hearing for Sheen’s request is scheduled for April 13.

In his interview announcing that he was HIV-positive, Sheen, 50, told Matt Lauer he was extorted for $10 million by people threatening to make his diagnosis public.

Last month, Sheen appeared on The Dr. Oz Show, where he said he would like to revisit the child support agreements he made with Richards and former spouse Denise Richards, whom he also pays $55,000 a month to in child support for their daughters Sam, 11, and Lola, 10.

“We came up with a number a long time ago and I had a great job and everybody was living large. and that’s not the case right now, but there’s still that expectation to still keep paying this kind of money,” Sheen told Dr. Mehmet Oz. “At some point you just can’t justify it, especially when there’s no gratitude behind it. None. I would send somebody flowers every hour if I got that kind of dough tax free.”

Other outlets have more details about Charlie’s debts, including $5 million he owes to American Express, $1.3 million in back taxes to the IRS and $800k in legal fees. Read that last quote from Charlie above. He wants to stick it to his ex wives, particularly Denise who has worked so hard to protect their daughters from Charlie’s abuse. (Charlie’s child support agreement with Brooke stipulates that she must receive the same amount as Denise.) Charlie has threatened to kill both Denise and his youngest (known) daughter with her, Lola. This was stated in legal documents filed by Denise’s team suing him for the $7 million he owes their daughters from the sale of their home. He’s mad that his ex wives aren’t grateful that he pays them less per month than he pays for the company of porn stars, all while he kicks them out of their homes, damages their property and threatens to kill them.

“Grateful”? It’s child support, not a gift. He’s legally mandated to pay it. Idiot.

    • Ky says:

It’s also NOT tax free for the ex wives. However, it is tax deductible for him.

      • Child support is not taxable, but alimony is.
        Via FindLaw:
No, child support payments are not considered taxable income, according to the IRS. Child support payments are neither deductible by the payer nor taxable to the payee. So when you calculate your gross income to see if you are required to file a tax return, do not include child support payments received.

Reminds me of my own dad and his sixth wife, who thought I should be much more grateful to him (at age 18) for supporting me for so long. I saw him maybe once or twice a year, if that… and I watched my mom go to court over and over again to secure what little money we got. Then she tried to use our lack of gratitude to encourage him to refuse to help pay for college (another court order).

I can’t imagine if we’d gone through all that, and my dad was an untouchable wealthy celebrity to boot. We already felt voiceless.

You can’t waste good drugs money on kids for gods sake….

  2. NewWester says:

The thought of owing that much money in credit card debt gives me chest pains. I think he is hiding assets from the courts. Just a selfish and hateful man

  3. Mia V. says:

    What a piece of garbage.

  4. greenmonster says:

I just hate him so much.

  5. Jag says:

What I don’t understand is why he sold his rights, which were earning him $600k a month? Was it so that he could claim some kind of hardship now?

I did know a guy who quit a really nice job due to not wanting to pay child support, so that’s what I’m thinking that this sub-human is doing.

    • Santia says:

I read before that Charlie Sheen is “cash poor.” He had the three homes, but didn’t invest his money wisely. He cashed out to continue living on the same level he was before, without realizing that he doesn’t have a job and likely won’t be getting another one that paid the same as two and a half men. If he were smart, he would have cut his expenses to live within his means, not cash out the “means.”

    • Bridget says:

He sued for wrongful termination when he was fired from 2.5 Men (because CBS was stupid and didn’t put a behavior clause in CHARLIE SHEEN’S contract, and re-sign ed him). It was probably part of the agreement reached to get rid of him. Howevever, I notice that he didn’t include the money he got from that settlement, the per-episode money he was making as well, or the Anger Management money.

There is no way I can muster any sympathy for someone so blatantly abusive, self-destructive and vile.

  7. Brittney B. says:

“especially when there’s no gratitude behind it. None. I would send somebody flowers every hour if I got that kind of dough tax free”

Gratitude? If you just “got” that kind of dough?

Such a horrible man with no desire to be a real father. Child support isn’t a favor, and it’s not about your exes or their “gratitude” (for a court-ordered action, no less)… it’s the bare minimum a father can do for his children. I’m not saying the amount needs to be that high forever… but the way he discusses it? Like it would be okay if he got flowers and everyone appreciated his generosity?

I feel so bad for all his kids… and for Denise, for putting up with this megalomania for so long.

    • lucy2 says:

He was paid over a million per episode for that dumb show which required almost no work of him, and he wasn’t grateful for that now, was he?

Plus getting “that kind of dough” from him also comes with death threats, horrific abuse, and who knows what else.

    • platypus says:

Right? Fascinating that someone who literally has to pay people to pretend as if they enjoy his company would believe anyone is at fault for not being in awe of his generous heart…

  8. Ellie66 says:

Ugh this asshole! I hate to say this but if that POS dies everybody would be relived. 😬😐🙃 what a vile shell of a human. 😡

  9. You know what annoys me about this is that he’s saying what I have heard *countless* fathers say. He’s not alone in this, he just has a loud voice in a very public forum where it is heard.

  10. Insomniac says:

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen anyone who is so clueless about how awful he sounds. Yes, how dare the mean ex-wife not be grateful that Charlie deigned to do just about the least he could do to support those children?

  11. soporificat says:

I think he is straight-up insane at this point. His extreme selfishness has driven him into a fantasy world where everything is about him and his appetites, and he is stuck there. He is so totally removed from reality.

I wish there were some way to have him sectioned, so that he would get a court-ordered guardian. Too bad those laws don’t apply to this type of crazy.

  12. Eggland's worst says:

I will say in his “defense” that everybody who pays child support that I know of tries to either not have to pay any at all (like the sperm donor known as my father) or to pay less (again, daddy dearest). Not just my dad, but everyone I know who has been ordered to pay child support. That said, children don’t ask to be born, we are all forced into this world. If you don’t want to pay child support, don’t have kids. It is that simple!

  13. smcollins says:

Predictable? Eh…Surprising? Not in the least. He’s a vindictive a**hole who only cares about himself, and couldn’t care less about his children. He’s the lowest of the low.

  14. Wren33 says:

Either he has the money or he doesn’t. If he doesn’t have the money, it should be reduced, but “gratitude” has nothing to do with it.

  15. Deanne says:

Charlie Sheen is a POS and Dr. Oz is worse for letting this legitimately insane, abusive, worthless excuse for a man, use his show as a PR tool.He is legally required to pay child support. Gratefulness isn’t a part of that deal. He doesn’t seem grateful that Denise cared for his sons, while their Mother was in rehab for the 20th time, or that she has tried to keep him in his daughters lives, despite his debached lifestyle and abusive behaviour. I literally hate this man so much and feel terrible for the kids and exes. Even Brooke. Years of paying millions for hookers, porn stars, crack and hush money are what have depleted his money. He paid porn actresses $40,000 to have sex with him on a regular basis. He bought watches that cost millions of dollars. $55.000 in child support is nothing. I have no pity for him whatsoever. Being HIV positive doesn’t erase that he is and always has been, a garbage human being.

  16. lucy2 says:

Where are the profits from the house he sold out from under Denise and those kids?
He was on that show for many years and was making almost $2 mil/episode at the end, so I don’t know where the $600K/month figure came from. And where are the nearly $27 million he sold the rights for?
Where’s the money from the FX show he did after 2 1/2 Men? That was a huge deal, tons of money and 100 episodes of pay, and syndication.

I get that this guy blew through a ton of money, but he made a ton and a half, you know?

    • misery chick says:

      @ LUCY2-

      I believe he received $613,000 a MONTH for 2.5 Men’s syndication rights…every. fking. month.

  17. kri says:

“Especially when there’s no gratitude behind it”. That sentence says it all. Ba$tard. Selfish and disgusting.

  18. Monica says:

He is disgusting. Of course he thinks that they should be grateful for the money. People wonder where his money is? Drugs, hookers, hush money, legal representation, agents, vacations (for hookers/yes people) houses, cars, more drug money, more hooker money, child support. I’m sure he probably spent more money on hookers during a night than he did for child support payment. Its not hard to go through that type of money, especially if you surround yourself with people you want to impress, yes people and you are mentally ill and think the train is never going to stop. If they were smart, they should have demanded the money in one lump sum.

  19. ExistingisExhausting says:

i love the Save Them All shirt that Denise is wearing. She’s a saint

  20. yep says:

Denise is a saint, and Im glad we are all on the same page concerning her. Sure, she tied her star to a psychopathic mother effer, but I dont think she, like many of us in the same situation, knew it at the time…until it was too late.
But whatever glimmer of sympathy I had for Charlie, is just that…a glimmer. Soon faded.
And Brooke? That junkie has her family to fall back on. Her and Charlie deserve each other.

  21. serena says:

He wants gratitude for what exactly? Denise did all the work in rising the children and he even dares to talk back?

    • Deeana says:

Yes. As was posted above. A piece of garbage. Dog shit on the bottom of a shoe.

All I can say is that it must be just awful to be the splat of vomitus that is Charlie Sheen. His name is synonymous with “scum of the earth”. Not just for this. For just being such a low-life douche. For a long, long time.
