Jennifer Aniston throws shade on Manic Panic: ‘Pink & green hair could go away’

wenn23746526

Jennifer Aniston gave yet another interview about economic policy, Brexit, international relations and the strength of Euro. Just kidding! She gave an interview about her hair. Aniston is currently promoting Mother’s Day, although you wouldn’t know it from this interview because she’s just shilling (endlessly) for Living Proof, the haircare company she partially owns. There is, I believe, a lot of junky non-science in here. Like, Aniston is about two seconds away from suggesting that women rub healing crystals on their split ends. Some highlights:

Her new favorite haircare product: “The newest, coolest thing I’ve discovered from Living Proof and its scientific world is the Timeless Treatment. It’s a hair color protector. It goes on and looks like a cream conditioner, but you put it onto your hair from the roots down to the tip. You let it sit for five minutes and then shower and shampoo, which activates the product to seal and protect the color. Then you condition. The concept allows you to keep the richness of your color longer. It’s kind of amazing.”

Don’t wash your hair with hot water: “Hot water is never good for your hair or skin, so I wash in warm water. It also depends on what day it is. If I’m working then I usually do wash it, because it has to have continuity, but if I’m not working I try to give my hair a break for as many days as possible. After the gym, if I have to be somewhere, I usually just throw some heat on it to dry the sweat and then do a little dry shampoo and a little Night Cap, and I’m fresh as a daisy. I can last a good three or four days without washing my hair, and all of this stuff just kind of keeps it fresh and alive and smelling great.”

Her workout hairstyle: “I just wrap it up into whatever rubber band or clip I can find and it usually gets thrown on top of my head.”

Her favorite hair trends: “I love a cut from afar, but I’m pretty classic and like to stick to what feels good for me. I don’t usually follow hair trends. I wish I could, but I always feel like I’m trying to be something I’m not. I love seeing these ’70s shags, though. They’re all super cute! And I always love a good highlighted head of hair.”

Her least favorite hair trends: “Pink and green hair could go away. I don’t understand that to be honest, especially the green!

Her hairstylist’s best advice: “His big advice is the less you mess with your hair, the better. Less is more, don’t touch it, don’t wash it every day, and just let it be. That way, it saves up your hair’s energy for when you have to go to work and be on camera and put it under the hot lights and driers and rollers. It’s really just about doing less and using good products to maintain its health.”

[From Glamour]

While some of this makes sense – and I’ve heard variations on it before – some of it just seems like someone who thinks way too much about her hair, to the point where she’s sort of talking nonsense. “It saves up your hair’s energy” doesn’t mean anything. If you want to argue that you shouldn’t overprocess your hair, fine. But you’re not “saving up your hair’s energy.” And I’ll never understand people who can go four days without washing their hair – especially if you’re going to the gym every other day or more! – but then again, I have really fine, oily hair.

Here’s a weird profile shot of Jennifer at last week’s premiere – is she wearing a wiglet/hairpiece in the back??? After all of this hair talk, I still think she relies heavily on hairpieces and extensions.

I never understood the fuss about her hair, it’s uneventfull, the colour is ugly and it’q the same haircut since the 90s .

    • denisemich says:

Who did she pay to get the people most beautiful cover?

Her crap about alkaline diet, hair and exercise is based on non science.

Follow her if you wish to not eat wheat, dairy or sugar product. Follow her if you have time to exercise 2 hrs a day. Follow her if you can spend over a 1000 a month on your hair.

She is an average woman with a lot of money. please stop the madness.

    • Miffy says:

Pretty much. That’s some boring ass suburban house wife hair, are people really on the edge of their seat on how to acheive it? Head your nearest (or ANY) hair salon, sit yourself down and say ‘layers and highlights, please.’ VOILA! You’re instantly eligible to be a Living Proof sales rep.

  2. AlmondJoy says:

No offense, but is her hair really so awesome that she gets a whole interview about it? Someone help me.

    • pwal says:

Unfortunately, there’s no help (or hope) to be had with this woman.

    • QQ says:

Um Same Question I had! they really sat and Interviewed this bland chick with Boring ass samey hair about Hair ..again…. fam .. You know in reality you are two steps up from Gwyneth Paltrow Hair? like Do You realize this??!

      • AlmondJoy says:

😂😂😂 Exactly! It’s pretty snoozeworthy to me. But then again, this is coming from someone who changes hairstyles constantly. I can’t imagine wearing my hair the same exact way for years on end.

      • Emma - The JP Lover says:

It’s the same boring hair style because she wears extensions and has worn extensions for well over a decade now. She has admitted to wearing extensions (in numerous articles over many years), saying that she started wearing extensions during the run of “Friends” because her real hair had thinned from years of dye and over processing and that perm she can’t live without because she doesn’t like her natural hair texture.

And is it me or does it look like she’s had her hairline lowered?

Her fake hair is the second reason why I will never understand the idea of people claiming Jennifer is a ‘natural’ beauty. It also underscores the irony of her being the face of a ‘hair care’ company. But … whatevas. All the best to the blissful Mrs. Justin Theroux.

      • Magnoliarose says:

QQ You just stepped in her weak zone. Brad Pitt was hers after Goop and they both still wear their hair the same. Maybe waiting for him to return? Lol I’m joking but you opened that door.

    • H says:

No, AlmondJoy, her hair hasn’t been that special since like 1995. Can she talk about anything else? Heck, I wouldn’t mind hearing her opinion on the Euro at this point!

      • crab says:

She was probably asked about her hair by the interviewer! I think her is beautiful and I agree about the “My Little Pony” hair colors! I wish that fad would die and take the stenciled in eyebrows with it!

    • Wren says:

Apparently so, but I’m not entirely sure why or who decided that. Her hair has always been “decent to nice” and never terribly remarkable one way or the other. But it’s all she wants to talk about and I suppose there’s an audience so that’s what we get.

    • Magnoliarose says:

There’s sadly no help. Many of us have been baffled for the last 20 years. No substance, just everyday unremarkable hair chat for everyday unremarkable hair.

    • Jude says:

Her hair isn’t so good anymore if anyone actually paid attention. And the whole fiction that it is natural and Jenny cares for it personally is OVER!

  3. Louise177 says:

I hate Jennifer’s interviews. She always sounds like an infomercial. A lot of people who try to promote products sound like they are having a conversation with somebody. But Jennifer always comes of as cold and reading a script.

    • Clare says:

Seriously – she’s always selling something other than her films or whatever. First it was hard push for smart water, now this.

She is so so so boring/bland!

  4. LAK says:

She’s wearing extensions under her natural hair. The top is covered by her own hair, but i can see the difference in texture between her natural hair and the extensions, and the natural line of her own hair strands where yhey thin out and give way to the extensions.

    • lisa2 says:

That’s the thing that is so wrong with her going on and on about her hair being so fabulous. I never understood that. There are so many women in Hollywood that actually have hair that I would envy. She is not one of them. Her hair looks dry and brittle. And as you said she wears extensions all the time. If LP is doing this miracle on her hair then why all the fake weave to give the impression that her hair is all natural. When you can see in pics that it is not.

      • Bridget says:

Pretty much all the women in Hollywood have weaves. The constant styling is really hard on your hair.

      • lisa2 says:

        @Bridge
But they are not pretending they aren’t wearing weaves. They aren’t promoting products as miracles and not saying they are still wearing weaves to give them a fuller look. She should acknowledge that she wears weaves. That LP has helped with how hard her hair is treated because of the business she is in. But she’s not doing that.

      • LAK says:

Her hair looks so dry in the above photos. She’s a terrible ambassador for LP. And that’s before you get to the obvious extensions.

  5. Wiffie says:

I used to have fine oily hair too, until I quit washing it every day! Washing it signals more oil production. Stop removing oil, And your body stops making it.

First day wash, second day style, third day up in top knot, and if the kids don’t let me wash it, another top knot before wash day. I use dry shampoo between, and still shower my body every other day. Start out doing every other day, then every 3rd. Build up to it.

Saves me time, and my hair doesn’t look like a grease pit on second day hair anymore! Love it.

    • Bridget says:

Yep. I try to space out washings as much as I can (though some days I’m way to sweaty to skip it). Hair isn’t meant to be washed all the time.

The way Aniston phrases it, sounds like she hears it from her hairstylist, who’s job it is to talk about hair all day. So I’m not going to shade her for this one. Especially since I would kill for Chris McMillan to cut my hair.

    • yellow says:

Well, you’re lucky. I have been doing that same thing for more than 7 years now, and while I can go 4 days sometimes… my hair is still oily enough that I really can’t survive without cornstarch. But, I also don’t blow dry or curl my hair with heat, so it might be my straight styling. Maybe my hair IS producing less oil, but it’s not enough for my liking!

  6. abby says:

Aniston had beautiful hair before she bleached it to death. It was full and thick, so lovely – and I am not a fan but she had great hair.
Now, this mop on her head is thin, mousy and damaged. She admitted wearing hair pieces due to the damage. And I use “mop” because it looks like my mop just before I toss it out.

She had one well-groomed and face-complimenting hair cut in the 90s. That’s it.
It been downhill since. This idea that her hair is still this glorious mane is pure publicist/media generated propaganda – it’s that “her hair is awesome because we say so regardless of what your eyes see” type stuff. There is nothing impressive going on there and I am sure we can all think of at least 1 person (maybe a few people) with way better hair than Aniston.
And no matter what she says, her hair really doesn’t show anything positive for LivingProof. She’s been using those products for a while now and I see no improvement. LiviingProof would do better to get a more convincing spokesperson (with better hair). Cause I am not convinced those products actually do anything. Going by Aniston are we certain LivingProof will not actually add to the damage of your hair?
But she’s invested in the company and I imagine people purchase that stuff because of Aniston’s name regardless of her hair. Such is the power of celebrity.

Anyway, her hair sucks but people “love” it regardless. Whatever.

  7. ItDoesntReallyMatter says:

She looks like Suzanne Summers (sp?) in the side profile image. 🙂

  8. chick b says:

I stand by my unpopular opinion: I only found this woman’s hair interesting when she had The Rachel. The shade suited her natural coloring (remember the 90’s when a fake tan wasn’t required?!) and the shape enhanced her natural, offbeat beauty.

The Good Girl, Friends with Money, She’s the One – I thought Aniston was terrific in all of these AND she’s got Friends money. I know we spend a lot of time reading about bad celebrity decisions, but I don’t understand how someone with actual talent would forsake an interesting acting career for a deal with an crazy aggressive PR firm. Also, Jen’s hair has looked like an expensive mop since 2006.

    • Jayna says:

Don’t forget Object of My Affection. She did back in the early days have an offbeat cuteness, and I thought she was talented.

      • chick b says:

Yeah, I thought she was good in that as well and from what she’s said it’s one of her favorite roles. I think after her divorce she bought a pair of Bad Idea Jeans and it went downhill from there.

  9. Jayna says:

Jennifer used to have great hair It was much thicker. I loved her hair for years I loved it when she had blond and caramel highlights, not so bleached also. It’s thinner and more damaged now.

I can’t go days without washing my hair, as it gets oily. But my friend works out and barely sweats compared to me. Her skin is dry and dry hair. Her hair looks great for days. I envy that I once took a medicine, and a side effect is it dried out my skin and hair. I could go days without washing my hair, and I loved it.

That photo is the best she’s looked in a long time.

  10. KiddVicious says:

I use Living Proof and my hair has improved a lot. I had fine oily hair, now it’s not so fine nor oily. It’s much stronger, hardly any breakage, and I can go 3 or 4 days without washing it. I rarely go 4 days but I can if I need to. And that’s without using the other products she’s mentioned. I don’t like extra product in my hair, I’m a shampoo and go girl. I have long hair and don’t like messing with it.

The only thing I don’t like about it, is it has made my gray roots hard to color. If I use a regular shampoo/conditioner a few times before coloring, my roots take the color, if I don’t then I don’t get full coverage.

I didn’t realize she owned the company when I was given the samples to try, it wasn’t until I got online to order full size that saw her all over the website. I almost didn’t order, LOL, but I really liked how much my hair improved.

    • Jayna says:

I’m going to try it. Thanks. I don’t trust Jen and her schilling, but I trust you.

      • KiddVicious says:

        Thanks! That’s a huge compliment!

My hair was getting frizzy from the constant shampooing and once I started using Living Proof the frizz disappeared (I use Full, for fine hair) and now I have nice waves. My hair stylist noticed the difference and is always commenting on how much thicker/healthier it feels.

I have the hardest time remembering the name of this stuff, I always have to look it up if I’m recommending it to someone. LOL

    • coco says:

I also like Living Proof — shampoo/conditioner and they have a styling/thickening mousse that’s light and works well with my fine hair. I bought pack-ups of the products at QVC, so was able to avoid the Jennifer extravaganza, but I’m not sure QVC stocks it anymore.

  11. Colette says:

I didn’t read the highlights, did she talk about what kind of hair extensions she use?

    • lisa2 says:

Has she done an interview yet to actually talk about the movie. Because it all seems to be about other things.

  12. sophie says:

This is not ANOTHER interview. Just like all celeb interviews the mags create several articles with snippets from one interview and make it sound like she is giving several. But yeah I wish they would ask about more than her hair and exercise. Even though I like her I tend to skim or skip over those.

  13. Gs says:

    Zzzzz…sleeping lol

  14. lisa says:

so tootsie got hair extensions again, so what

  15. sofie says:

This woman could put you in a coma. Why she is admired by many women is baffling? Not an ounce of substance.

  16. bermudashortz says:

Her hair looks only slightly better than Goopy’s.

  17. Carmen says:

I’m less concerned with what’s on top of her head than with that yawning, echoing chasm between her ears.

  18. Harlequin says:

As someone who has pink hair (and has gone from every shade of blonde, brown, red, purple, blue and green in the hair colour rainbow), take a seat Jennifer. Actually take several. Just because you “don’t understand” something doesn’t mean it should go away.

  19. Anonymous says:

A fabulously wealthy movie star has no business telling me that a hair product “allows you to keep the richness of your color longer.” Aniston probably has her roots done and her highlights touched up once a month. It ain’t Living Proof that’s preserving the richness of her colour.

    • benchwarmer says:

I was thinking this same thing when I saw her in the most recent Aveeno night cream ad. Yeah, she’s using Aveeno, suuuuuure, she can afford La Mer by the bucket and she’s using Aveeno.

  20. Magnoliarose says:

I do wash my hair everyday because of running or swimming but I use gentle alcohol free products and no-poo shampoos every other day that don’t strip the hair but keeps it clean. I have thick long hair and I have to keep my scalp clean or it smells a bit sour if I sweat a lot. I do wear swim caps but put some light oil in it to protect it from the chlorine that can creep in.

She never says anything important or thought provoking and it explains her career. She’s not even a person whose beauty tips I would listen to but I wonder what this says about the movie when she doesn’t talk about it.

    • Emma - The JP Lover says:

@Magnoliarose, who wrote: “I have thick long hair and I have to keep my scalp clean or it smells a bit sour if I sweat a lot.”

I have the same problem, but if I shampoo too often my wear gets dry and brittle. I just can’t seem to find the right shampoo. What shampoo do ‘you’ use?

      • NotSoSocialButterfly says:

Bend over in the shower and keep the ‘poo to your scalp only, don’t shampoo the full length of your hair.
Also consider co-washing, that is, using an inexpensive conditioner to scrub your scalp to cleanse and condition/ distribute natural oils.

My daughter’s hair is as you describe, and I tell her the same (but as a teen, she is not inclined to take my advice at the moment!).

      • Gummi says:

Nah. I mean that’s bad advice, NSSB. Your hair collects soot, grit, dust, air particles etc. The full length needs to be fully washed. Not just the scalp. On this, your daughter is wise.

      • Magnoliarose says:

The brands I like are WEN conditioning shampoos.
dpHue Clarifying shampoo once a week.
Amika Nourishing hair mask once a week when I use the clarifying shampoo.
Reflect H2O Swim shampoo(only as a pre after swimming and then follow up with WEN or Rahua shampoos)
        Rahua shampoo and conditioner
        Lavitt and Chin Daily Conditioner
Earth’s Necatar Mint Tea Leaves and Tea Tree for after long sweaty runs where my hair gets gross.

NotsoSB gave advice about no pooing and it works. If you have curly hair my friend swears by Deva Curl Decadence.

I stay away from sulfates and the drying alcohols not the emulsifiers.

      • NotSoSocialButterfly says:

        @gummi,
You certainly are entitled to your opinion, but it doesn’t invalidate mine.

You may want to check with your stylist, unless he/she gives you advice that will bring you back to him/her more frequently. Ends do not get oily. Also, ‘air particles’ ? Do you mean to say particulate matter, and if so, isn’t that redundant?

  21. The Original G says:

Let me get this. Style your hair completely contrary to its natural tendencies. Straighten, bleach and flat iron it into such oblivion that you need to wear extensions. To compensate, don’t wash it for days and coat it with an overnight conditioner. I see.

Sorry. This won’t work for me. I have to/want to represent everyday, not just between pap walks and interviews.

  22. Ramona Q. says:

BREAKING NEWS! Aniston wears ponytail while exercising.

  23. Veronica says:

Well, those of us with curly/wavy hair would destroy it if we washed too often. I only wash my hair once or twice a week and dry shampoo in between. It’s much healthier now than when I was younger and washed it every day.

I actually tried the Living Proof brand awhile back. It’s pretty good, but nothing is consider groundbreaking.

  24. Cee says:

Phoney, phoney phoney. Always has been. Definitely not most beautiful.

  25. ann says:

Her lips look like they have had injections to make them bigger. Looks weird.

  26. iheartgossip says:

The Rachel needs to go away

  27. benchwarmer says:

I read her People interview (so safe and canned) and all the other comments celebs gave about what was the best compliment they ever got. It’s amazing to me that so many of them said that when people compliment their kids, ie. how well behaved etc. or when their moms told them what incredible parents they are. Such SAFE answers all of them so image conscious. Boring. What a snore. Done with People, not renewing my subscription after this image campaign.

  28. Naddie says:

I’m still laughing at the economic policy beginning.

  29. fanny says:

Why does she talks about her hair all the time, when she fakes it all the time.

Its fake because its her natural hair, she dyes her brown hair with blonde color and uses hair extension to make it look thicker.

She is just a total fraud!

  30. Tarsha says:

Why doesn’t she take her hairdresser’s advice? She bleaches her hair continually and puts unnecessary chemicals in it and product. I hate the rainbow coloured hair trend, but I will take a full, shiny and healthy-looking pink or green hair before I will a fried, over-processed, dry straw looking hair like she has.

  31. Celeste says:

I honestly don’t see the problem with the interview, she is there TO PROMOTE so she is doing that… So much shade on her for her blandness, blah face, blah hair… Yes, she is not going to save the day or solve the refugee problem she is just promoting her products which its fine with me… We should let her be… In regards to the hair extensions, give me someone that doesn’t do that, even Mindy Kaling accepts she does it and she has gorgeous hair.

  32. Grant says:

Since when do we expect actresses to give interviews on economic policy, trade, and international relations?? We should probably leave those topics to the professionals, my dear– and no, I don’t mean Angelina Jolie.

    • Gummi says:

Please just stop bringing Jolie into into it. Why do Aniston fans feel the need to do this? So obsessed.

  33. NotSoSocialButterfly says:

Wait, are you bitching out the author? Why read if it grates on you so?
