Yesterday I noted how weird it felt to see Beyonce flying solo at the Met Gala. She seemed oddly vulnerable walking the carpet alone. While her sister was there, they didn’t walk the carpet together and they only spent time together inside the event. On the carpet, Beyonce seemed almost cautious, and like she was making a statement by going it alone. Page Six made a big deal about how Beyonce wasn’t wearing her wedding ring too. Sources claim Bey decided not to wear her ring because she didn’t think it “meshed well” with her Becky-skin Givenchy gown. So why did Jay-Z skip this year’s Met Gala? After the elevator drama post-Met Gala in 2014, Jay and Bey made a point of going to the 2015 Met Gala together as a show of solidarity. But post-Lemonade, Jay couldn’t be bothered?
Beyoncé completely nailed her 2016 Met Gala look. There was just one thing missing when she hit the red carpet on Monday, May 2, in New York — her husband, Jay Z. Although fashion’s biggest night comes on the heels of Bey’s much talked-about visual album, Lemonade, sources tell Us Weekly that the rapper’s absence is no biggie — he’s simply just been there, done that.
“He’s done it before,” the insider explains to Us. “There’s just no big reason for him to go.”
Suspicious? Yeah. Anyway, as I said, Bey and Solange spent a lot of time together inside the event. Solange didn’t bring her husband to the gala, but Alan Ferguson did come out for the post-gala parties.
Beyoncé attended the Met Gala and after parties sans husband Jay Z. The singer first posed at Gilded Lily for the Balmain bash, where she hung out with the fashion house’s creative director, Olivier Rousteing, and her little sister Solange, who arrived with her husband, Alan Ferguson.
“I don’t know where Jay was and I definitely thought it was interesting he didn’t come,” said one partygoer. “It definitely fuels speculation about the relationship, but I think that’s probably the point. People at the Met were talking about it.”
But the chatter didn’t bother Beyoncé one bit.
She celebrated with Champagne and “was in high spirits hanging out on the banquette with Olivier. She seemed to be in a very good mood,” a different source said.
Bey later headed over to Up & Down, where DJ Jus Ske played Beyoncé’s song “Formation” as she arrived with Solange.
I get the feeling that the message – if there is a message – is that Jay-Z is still on notice to a certain extent. Like, Lemonade was about how he cheated, how Beyonce was mad and wanted to destroy everything, but she forgave him and worked through the drama. But he’s still on notice. And hey, maybe he truly didn’t want to go to the gala this year. Suspicious.

Because that suits your fantasy. Jay Z clearly is a flawed man but he did not come from the upper middle class life that Beyonce did and he never had a protective family watching over him. He came from the projects of Virginia and sold dope before he became a rap superstar. And before we get carried away, Beyonce is clearly a bigger star now but Jay Z is still richer than her and is an absolute legend in the rap world. I am not saying he is right but rumor has it that he is working on his own album with his own response to Lemonade. Also you may notice that they are still married for all the sturm und drang.

This. If we are to beleive the saga put before us, she forgave him a long time ago. The cheating accusations didn’t just happen. They may continue, but the supposed fighting about it and threats to leave, etc. were back during the Solange elevator incident. My guess is JayZ doesn’t like fashion events any more than an average Joe husband would.
Yup! That was just another calculated move on their part to keep people talking. You’ve got to give them credit, they certainly know how to manipulate the press/gossip and their fans to their advantage.

After party outfits better then her gala dress. As for the ring and not attending together- well we are talking about it and I’m guessing that’s good for business. I think people are reading to much into marketing decisions.

I do not see a new nose. I have never seen a new nose. Contouring exists people.Shes been accused of having a new nose every year based on side by side pics of different angles that make no sense. Take a look at Solnge’s nose, Beyoncé’s us like that but just thinner. She has never had a wide nose like people thought to begin with. Actually, when I saw Solange, I thought “oh, THAT’s what Bey’s original nose looks like.” It looks thinner/smaller to me from when she first came out.
She definitely had a nose job. The tip of her nose is nothing like it was when she first came out. But I think that happened years ago.

Meh, why would he go after last year’s debacle? Why do guys go to this anyway, they don’t dress up. Seriously, Orly clipped a dead tamagotchi to his tux. That thing is hardly the future. I think Beyonce looked really cool in this dress, in theory, but you can see where she’s sweating. Ouch.

I think the point was just what was said in the quote above. “People were talking about it.” That’s always the point with Beyonce. People must talk. People must wonder. She must be the first thing on everyone’s mind.

I respect Beyonce for her work ethic and I enjoy listening to some of her music.
The same goes for Jay-Z.
But the way Beyonce has been crafting and orchestrating this Lemonade narrative is very irritating. If she had announced the divorce months (if not YEARS) ago and later dropped the album, based on her honest experience as an indignant woman, “victim” of a serially-unfaithful husband, talking about the pain, the struggle, the humiliation, maybe I would have believed her pain was real.
But where is this coming from now? There have been rumours for ages. It has been known forever: lovers, secret children, infidelities. Sure, one could argue that this was just speculation. But surely Beyonce would have decided to dig a little deeper and see if there was truth to the rumors, wouldn’t she? Why now? Are we to believe that she suddenly has come to realizing/knowing of something she didn’t know before? My theory is that she has known all-along and conveniently put up with it for the sake of their careers. Their marriage is a business partnership first and foremost. I am not saying there is no love and respect between them, but I am also convinced that they will stick together just as far as they will see the profit. The image of Beyonce as a devoted wife and mother was getting old, and I think that Beyonce and her team were fully aware they needed to craft another image, another persona. And here it comes, Lemonade, hitting close to the home of so many women, betrayed, ostracised, silenced. Oh, she’s good, Beyonce. I give her that. But, and again this is my opinion, if you have been cheated on you have two possibilites: you either try to forgive, which doesn’t mean forgetting, and try to avoid throwing your partner under the bus, because otherwise there is no room for healing or 2) you kick him/her to the curb and never look back. You don’t write an album about the experience, dissing him/her and then going on to profess your love at a concert 3 days later, while AT THE SAME TIME leading the conversation on media hinting at a possible separation. “I don’t know where Jay was and I definitely thought it was interesting he didn’t come,” says the trusted source. I think he accepted that the album would be themed around his wandering dong but is also now aware that the coverage makes him look like a punk rather than a Lothario. Tagging along under the present circumstances to an event that is clearly her interest rather than his would just generate crazy memes. which negatively affects his own brand image.
I think their next side-by-side coupled up photo op will probably be on his territory, like court-side of a basketball game. Or a yacht, with her half naked and him smugly smoking a cigar.

Beyoncé without Jay is better as she can party and act drunk and stupid without his obvious judgement and disdain. She’s so much more fun on her own hanging with her friends than with her petulant manchild of a husband looking over her shoulder!
Whether Lemonade is ‘real’ or not doesn’t matter all that much, Beyoncé doesn’t have the luxury as a woman and being black to be cheating like Jay so her art is a way to put her foot down imo. I bet Jay also prefers her art over her cheating on him. He is a-hole both professionally and on a personal level, he would not be able to put aside his pride like his wife is doing for close to 2 decades.
This is a non-story. Beyoncé performed the days before and after the Met Gala. Jayz is chilling with Blue as usual as is evidenced from the behind the scenes on her tour.

Plus, Beyonce rarely, rarely wears her wedding ring. Like almost never. And she’s been to the Met Gala five or six times and Jay has only gone with her twice.
Who is behind B’s PR bullshit? “Powerful” and “slay” and “queen of everything” is repeated endlessly as if people didn’t have ears. And that skin-color dress looks like something the guy in The Silence of the Lambs would make.

The path of least resistance for Beyonce to attend the Met Gala at all, was to go alone.
She is currently selling the Queen Bey brand, not the Mrs. Carter brand.
If she’d walked the carpet with Jay-Z, her appearance would not be about her, it would be a barrage of speculation on their union.
If she’d walked the carpet with her sister, again, it wouldn’t be about her, it would be a throw-back to last year and a statement about her marriage.
People are still going to speculate, but she’s not providing any more fuel.
She is providing fuel hence this write up. Walking the red carpet alone makes people wonder about them as a couple. It creates interest she thinks will lead to album and ticket sales.
Page Six and UsWeekly write about everything. They had her house-hunting 2 years ago when she was on vacation. Not a single person questioned Jayz’s absence at the Met so just because this site did means nothing.
Also, 95% of her show are sold out. I couldn’t even get 2 tickets. The theory about not showing up with her husband so people can get tour tickets has no meaning. I don’t know a single person that would just go out and buy a ticket because jayz was absent at the Met
What I’m saying is, she knows people are going to talk, regardless of what she does…but she purposely didn’t walk the red carpet with her husband/sister because it would spin the talk in a way that she didn’t want it to go.
Wow, her afterparty outfit is so much better! I liked the hair a lot but the eye makeup was too heavy and just made her look tired. The dress still looks like an acne outbreak to me, or maybe like chickenpox.
Didn’t Beyonce give a lovely shout out to her husband during her Miami show? Also, Zendaya recently stated that Jay Z was on the set while filming one of her recent videos and said they seemed very loving towards one another.

I’m really baffled why people are claiming Jay didn’t show because of marriage problems. It doesn’t make sense to me that a month ago nobody thought they were breaking up but now supposedly they can’t stand each other. Besides Beyonce has probably been recording for months. If there were problems clearly they moved on. It’s odd to think problems begin with the album release.
