Chrissy Teigen rocks a crop top and short shorts weeks after giving birth

A photo posted by John Legend (@johnlegend) on

She’s a successful model with a gorgeous husband, she just gave birth to an adorable baby, and now Chrissy Teigen is already showing off her post-baby body. On Sunday, a photo surfaced of the 30-year-old Sports Illustrated model wearing a white crop top and cutoff denim shorts whipping up a little breakfast for the family. Okay, she did wear a robe, but it didn’t hide much, unlike when I wear a robe like a terrycloth fortress.

Proud papa John Legend posted the photo of Chrissy in her skimpy ensemble on Instagram, with the caption, “Making brunch with my favorite mama.” Hey, wait a minute, Sunday was Mother’s Day…why is Chrissy cooking? I know she’s a foodie and cookbook author, but Mother’s Day is all about men taking on kitchen duties and whipping up breakfast in bed for their baby mamas. For shame, John. For shame. Although, seeing Chrissy already toned bod whipping up some yummy looking vittles, John may have inadvertently sold a few copies of his wife’s cookbook, Cravings. According to the post on Chrissy’s Instagram, the menu included, “low and slow scrambled eggs, chicken and waffles and roasted bacon.” Talk about cravings.

John’s pic received lots of (surprisingly) positive feedback from his followers, like “Post baby body goals” and “I’m hoping it’s photo shopped considering I myself don’t even wear crop tops.” One person who had a quite honest and hilarious reaction was singer Kelly Clarkson. The American Idol alum and mom of 2, upon seeing the pic, took to Twitter to comment, “Okay, what?! She just had a baby! My train of thoughts…. #hateher #justkidding #kindofnotkidding #jealouslikeJonas.” I’ve never had a kid, but I’m #jealouslikeJonas too, Kelly.

If the breakfast picture isn’t enough to inspire Kelly’s envy, I hope she didn’t see the photos of the couple out on the town for dinner that evening. Chrissy once again showed off her toned body in black short shorts, a skintight bodysuit and a gorgeous satin blazer (forget the post baby-body, I envy Chrissy for owning that). I’ve always been of the mind that “if you’ve got it, flaunt it,” so I have no problem with Chrissy giving us all #goals. Looks like 5:45am spin class for me tomorrow. Sigh.

Note by Celebitchy: Chrissy just shared a pic on snapchat of her breastfeeding baby Luna while getting ready for a photoshoot – just like Gisele.

It’s her job to be fit, and she looks incredible. Better body than me and I haven’t even had a baby!

She’s a bit of a famewhore, but I like her style and would kill for that robe/kimono.

Edited to add, the robe is Gucci. Damn.

    • V4Real says:

Please, two weeks after giving birth to my son I was on the beach in Miami rocking flat six pack abs, long lean muscular legs and perky breast in a two piece bikini.

Moments later I woke up from that beautiful dream and had to face reality. 🙂

    • Chaucer says:

Agreed. She didn’t gain much weight, and some people don’t get too big. I was that way. I didn’t show until 32, had baby Chaucer at 38 on a Tuesday, and was pre-baby body a week later.

My SIL, however, gained a solid amount of weight and a year later is still struggling to either lose it or love it. Every body is different. Chrissy has people whose entire job it was to make sure she stayed fit during pregnancy, which makes it that much easier for those same trainers to get her back ‘in shape’ (I hate that term) right after. Plus it’s her first, unlikely it will be the same if she decides to have another.

      • OrangeCrush says:

I luckily didn’t gain much baby weight to begin with, so I was back down to pre-baby weight pretty quickly… but damn if it doesn’t come back on *so much faster* than it did before I had a kid!

She looks great and she looks happy. I’m more jealous that she can nail that casual-effortless-beauty look. I basically looked homeless for at least the first three months after having my kid because I was so tired (no offense to homeless people).

      • Sabrine says:

She’s long and lean. People with that body shape don’t have too much trouble getting back into shape probably just by cutting calories a little. Short (5’3″) is another story. Then it’s a real struggle. Three months, 30 minutes a day, on the treadmill did flatten the stomach, thankfully.

    • da says:

Yeah, that kimono is lovely. I like the way she look w/ the baby fat. She looks very pretty in the last picture w/ her in the blue dress.

  2. Whatabout says:

I really like that robe. Does anyone know who it’s by?

  3. angie says:

    She is absolutely gorgeous! #girlcrush

  4. HollyG says:

I can’t get over the size of that pan of scrambled eggs.

  5. Greenieweenie says:

My stomach was back down in 4-5 days too…it really is just being tall/long torso. A friend of mine said she hated me and I was like, I’ll take your baby weight if you take my trauma/permanent physical damage. SO, there’s that. I do not believe that anyone ever wins it all. Chrissy struggled to get pregnant.

    • cd3 says:

Good point – it all balances out. She looks incredibly amazing, but her struggle was to get pregnant in the first place. It all balances out.

    • chaser says:

Yup. My body bounced back quickly regarding weight but I’ll carry around the physical and mental scars of child birth for the rest of my life. I would have preferred to have a couple of extra kgs 8 months later instead of the paralysing nightmares I had.

  6. anon says:

Remember we don’t know these people. We don’t know what they have done or not done to their bodies.

  7. Naya says:

I like Chrissy and I know some women snap back super fast, but my first thought was “she had surgical assistance”. If she had a CS, its possible her cosmetic surgeon was in the theatre with her obstetrician.

    • iGotNothin says:

Any other time I would agree with you. But she’s not super toned. Her stomach looks like that of a mother who just had a baby (especially the belly button). I don’t doubt that she was active and ate healthy throughout her pregnancy. So this isn’t unbelievable.

      • pagirl says:

I noticed that too. It’s not like we’re seeing well-defined abs. Yes, she has a flat stomach and she looks great, but it’s not THAT unbelievable.

      • Ginny says:

That’s what I thought too. Of course, she does look great, but the robe was also covering quite a bit. Her tummy doesn’t look that unbelievable. Miranda Kerr on the other hand…. Lol

    • Mimz says:

on her snapchat, the picture where she’s breastfeeding and whatnot, she’s also got a waist trainer. so, yes, she’s human, and not hiding her waist trainer or post partum waist something something I don’t know the name in englishhhhhhhh

      • Kitten says:

But don’t people wear a waste trainer after lipo or tummy tuck? Or am I just making that up?

      • Mimz, says:

Well not to my understanding, in my family and country habits, when a woman gives birth, it is advised to wear something to “pull the belly back in”, something tight around the waist. I thought this was a universal practice. Obviously women who had c-sections cannot wear them, but natural birth ladies can and are advised to. I just saw a youtube video of a british girl who had a baby who also wears one of those things.
        I don’t know Kitten… eheh

  8. Veronica says:

Of course she’s back in shape – her entire career revolves around being in shape. As long as she doesn’t release passive aggressive, judgey posts about how other women should do it, I am fine with this.

(I do mightily enjoy “terry cloth fortress” as a turn of phrase, though.)

  9. Melissa Melissa says:

A lot of people were saying she’s making other mothers feel bad. Is it Chrissy’s job to hold every woman’s hand just because their stomach may not be as flat as hers post-delivery? No it isn’t. I’m not her biggest fan but if this is how her body is, then no one should feel offended by it.

    • muffin says:

      +1

    • Susan says:

This!! Thank you Melissa for a dose of big girl panties reality. We all rebound differently.

    • crtb says:

I am happy for her that she was able to snap back into shape so soon after giving birth however, I don’t find these kind of pictures empowering to other woman. In the real world, the rest of us don’t have a housekeeper, chief, nannies, baby nurses, hairdressers, make up artist, plastic surgeons and a trainer. We all would look fantastic if we could afford the support she and every other actress who was back to their pre pregnancy weight after a few weeks. It keeps women aspiring to have an unrealistic expectation of what we hope to look like after giving birth.

      • Melissa Melissa says:

I gave Kim K has an example of a woman who has the same resources as Chrissy and still didn’t look like her after giving birth. And you know what? It’s fine, people are built differently. I don’t understand the idea that a celebrity woman has to constantly show their flaws to empower others, that’s just insecurity. If someone is skinny and tall, that’s that, they aren’t better than you if you aren’t.

      • Luxe says:

It’s not unrealistic. She didn’t gain much during her pregnancy. If she’d gained a ton and magically lost it immediately if agree with you, but tons of normal, poor moms without trainers and personal chefs bounce back fast.

      • felixswan2 says:

@CRTB I agree 100% (and I was someone who got back to my pre baby weight pretty quickly because I didn’t gain a lot of weight and have a long torso, so I know it’s different for all women, but I still think what you said was accurate).

      • crtb says:

        to Luxe
Not just talking about weight. I weighed 110 pounds when I got pregnant, gained 50 pounds and even though I tried to keep some of the weight on, was @115 in no time. But if you saw me weeks, months after taking care of a new born: Hair pulled back in a pony tail, no make-up, sleep deprived, feeding on demand every two hours, shirts stained from baby puke and leaking breast milk (no matter how many times I changed clothes), was still trying to get in the shower by mid afternoon, my body shape had shifted (big boobs and tummy) so none of my before pregnancy clothes fit, still in maternity clothes. I am a Doula (birthing partner) and that is what most first time mothers look like.

        @ Melisa Melisa
not saying celebs have to look ugly or share their insecurities or flaws just be real. Did you see CooCoo hours after giving birth? Full face of make-up with lashes and hair in place. How about Princes Kate? Her hair looked flawless. She glowed, looked like she had been to a spa. I was in labor 21 hours, no I didn’t look like I just stepped out of the salon.

  10. CidySmiley says:

Gosh good for her! After I had my kids (back to back might I add!) I had no motivation to work out, there’s something about having three kids in diapers and two still on the boob that kept me pushed from the gym lol that being said it kinds of wigs me out and I hope this doesn’t make other ladies feel like they HAVE to look like this after they give birth. Remember folks: she’s a model, it’d her job to look like this.

  11. Tiffany27 says:

I NEED that satin black blazer. It is gorgeous.

  12. Oni says:

It’s not really surprising that she bounced back fast considering she didn’t really seem to gain tons of weight with her pregnancy anyway – she was all belly! She’s also quite tall which helps with weight distribution.

As a side note, some people do snap back very quickly. A friend of mine gave birth 2 weeks ago and she’s back in her old clothes and back at university today!

    • ladysussex says:

It’s true some women really do look exactly the same days after delivery, especially if they didn’t use pregnancy as an excuse to overeat. I had one friend who actually lost a lot of weight from breastfeeding, and became like a stick figure. She had to work with a nutritionist to make sure she was getting all the extra needed calories for breastfeeding, and so she would not continue to get super thin.

      • Oni says:

It also depends how lucky you get with your pregnancy. My mum had a pretty easy time of it – she never got any morning sickness and was fortunate to not develop any complications. She felt fine so she just kept walking everywhere, including to and from work (around 1 hour in total). She even walked the 30 minutes to the hospital while in labor!

  13. EM says:

She was/is a model. They’re always taller and leaner than most of the female population. Even the weight they put on during pregnancy is distributed in a different way.

  14. anniefannie says:

I was lucky in that my metabolism sped up during my pregnancy and I was thinner ( than pre-baby )almost immediately after giving birth I was shocked but I truly stunned at the side eyes and outright hostility I recieved from some
    “friends”

    • Melissa Melissa says:

Exactly. There isn’t much that can be done about how a woman’s body will look after giving birth, otherwise no celebrity would ever gain weight and snap back quickly and we all know not all of them don’t, just look at Kim K. I think it’s time we recognize that how a woman looks pre, during, and post baby shouldn’t matter or affect anyone else.

    • Magnoliarose says:

Everyone is different and I think she’s happy that she bounced back but truthfully by the third baby it takes a little longer. I don’t like when friends compare their bodies to mine or each other’s if it’s not supportive. It isn’t a contest.

    • Arock says:

That was my experience too, a couple went as far to call me anorexic behind my back. This is not a humble brag, all women are different. I struggled to keep both kids at a healthy weight in utero so they weren’t delivered early. Ladies, you produced life and how ever it goes, what ever form it takes, do what’s best for you.

      • Magnoliarose says:

I got that too after breastfeeding my last. I was dealing with a lot and I didn’t need accusations that were untrue. Eating disorders are serious and throwing it around lightly is uncalled for.

  15. claire says:

In fairness, John was cooking too. They were cooking for their mothers. 🙂
It’s not surprising she looks somewhat back to normal. She’s tall, she was in good shape prior, and she didn’t blow up. Kelly, on the other hand, is short and gains quite a bit of weight, so, yeah, I’d be envious too. Kinda fascinating how differently our bodies handle these things.

  16. SamiHami says:

Women who are physically fit during pregnancy do tend to “snap back” quickly. I’ve known several very athletic women who did just that–days after giving birth they were back in their pre-pregnancy clothing. Then I’ve known other women who used pregnancy as an excuse to eat with abandon and gained 80-100 pounds and then were bewildered when the weight didn’t magically fall off them immediately after giving birth.

  17. Size Does Matter says:

Jesus H Christ. Why did I click?

  18. tracking says:

Ah, the first baby, when your body does pretty much (more or less) “snap back.” Those were the days.

    • Morgan says:

Right? I wore regular clothes home from the hospital with my first because I didn’t know any better and thought that was what I should pack. Wised up for #2 and #3 and it took longer to get back to normal both times.

  19. Colette says:

A tall thin model is thin again shortly after given birth.
The world is shocked ! Not
Give me an example of a tall thin model who gave birth who ISN’T back to her pre pregnancy weight or thinner.

  20. ItDoesntReallyMatter says:

I had two kids in my mid-to-late 30’s and I was back to normal in a few days. And I am only 5’7″ and not anything like a model and was poor! But I didn’t use the pregnancies for an excuse to let myself go, plus I did walk and do moderate exercise throughout the pregnancy.

I did gain weight later in my early 40’s and blamed my age, but switched to a whole-foods/primal diet and started walking daily and am in better shape in my mid-40’s than I was in my 20’s.

A healthy diet and moderate exercise is the key!

    • Wilma says:

I was back to my pre-pregnancy weight the next week, but then my hormones went haywire and now I’m retaining around 30 lbs of waterweight that goes up and down during my cycle. I’m vegan, eat in moderation and get lots of exercise everyday in walking and cycling. It’s not a science I guess.

  21. Magnoliarose says:

If most of the weight gain is baby only and you exercise the entire time, 3 weeks isn’t unheard of. My mother’s doctor limited his patients to 25 pounds and it made bouncing back easier. Mine said 30. A few weeks of breastfeeding and it melts away.
She was fit before she was pregnant and tall so I believe her. If you have a strong core why not?
I just wish she could learn to survive without constant fawning attention.

  22. Gabrielle says:

I like seeing the bounce back pictures. I find it inspiring.

  23. Pink parasole says:

When attention whores relentlessly attention whore…she’s the worst.

    • Ellie says:

I can’t STAND HER. She is smart enough to wrap all of her thirsty bullsh*t in “feminist” clothes so we’ll never get rid of her.

  24. Beckysuz says:

One of the mothers at my daughter’s school was pregnant with her 7th(!!) child when I was pregnant with my 2nd. I’m not even kidding, she was wearing skinny jeans and had a perfectly flat stomach six days after giving birth. And that seven included two sets of twins. She was just one of those women who snapped right back. I wanted to hate her 😉but she was also really really nice.

My mom had seven kids and always snapped back easily as well. But then again she is 6 feet tall and I’m only 5’7.

  25. Mimz says:

Corey, since she gave birth, at least on her snapchat, she’s always either cooking or filming John cooking. The man cooks all the time. And everything looks delicious!!!
Regarding the update by Celebitchy, i saw that snap yesterday, and she was getting what seemed to be her waist trainer or post partum wrapping something (i dont know the name sorry) while breastfeeding baby Luna. So, I think she’s being pretty ok with her social media stuff, and normal (considering the celebrity status).

  26. Miran says:

“Hey, wait a minute, Sunday was Mother’s Day…why is Chrissy cooking? I know she’s a foodie and cookbook author, but Mother’s Day is all about men taking on kitchen duties and whipping up breakfast in bed for their baby mamas.”

Please, not in the real world. Most of us still do most of the work on mothers day.

    • Astrid says:

Exactly! If my husband and kids cooked breakfast, I’d be in the kitchen cleaning all day. Better to do it myself LOL

    • Kitten says:

My parents were away last weekend so I’m hosting a Mother’s Day thing THIS Sunday at my house. My mom won’t be doing a thing. 😉

  27. Dunne says:

Somewhere out there Kim Kardashian is screaming into a pillow.

  28. AV says:

I’m surprised – I would think even the uterus would take a bit of time to recede, leaving most women with a tummy for a while. Oh well, lucky her.

  29. Ramona Q. says:

She put on makeup and fake lashes for eggs at home??

  30. Isa says:

I did the same thing after my first one. Gained 35 lbs lost 25 and weighed 121 a week after birth. People told me I didn’t even look like I had a baby. I looked great and I wasn’t particularly fit.
My third baby is another story, gained 23 lbs and lost 8. She weighed 8. 😏
I’ve seen thin fit women whose stomach is wrinkly and crepey. Sometimes it’s just luck.

  31. Cat says:

She obviously looks great. I used to love her when she had 100,000 Twitter followers and she candidly spoke her mind about everything and everyone. But now it seems like she’s loving the attention a bit too much like her new friends the Kardashians. Sigh.

  32. benchwarmer says:

Call me a bitch but I’m not impressed with flat tummies after giving birth to one child and I’ll explain why…

I had it also and trust me I’m totally lazy, I did nothing for it. I was skinny to start out, about 100 lbs. had a baby, youngish 28, and literally like a rubber band the tummy snaps back like it didn’t happen, definitely by 3 wks. and I gained weight 40 lbs. during the pregnancy, much needed I was probably underweight to start.

Now if you can snap back after a second baby that’s impressive! The muscles are stretched or something and it’s not as easy especially if you have them close, 2 yrs. apart or less. But a lot of it is just genes. It’s like being jealous of perfect features, why bother, you can’t rearrange your face.

  33. Nik says:

She’s young and trim and fit. Things amp back for the first baby. Now if you 35 and over weight it takes longer and the skin just doesn’t go back on baby #2
