Margot Robbie covers Vogue, poses with Alex Skarsgard & kittens: adorable?

margot1

This shouldn’t surprise anyone, but I guess I wasn’t expecting to see Margot Robbie on the June cover of Vogue. Margot is the It Girl, and this is her big year. Everyone’s excited to see what she does with Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad, although she got the Vogue cover more for her role in Tarzan. The Vogue editorial even features Alexander Skarsgard too. And he’s wearing a wet shirt and playing with kittens. Basically, people need to see Tarzan. They will do anything to make sure this film doesn’t bomb. You can see the Vogue slideshow here, and you can read the full profile here. Some highlights:

Growing up in Australia: “Gold Coast in Queensland… I had no idea I was living in a state that gets laughed at until I moved to Melbourne and then someone was like, ‘Ohrrr, yar from Queensland, eh? You put “Eh?” on the end of your sentences because you’re all a bit slow.’ And I was like, ‘Is this a thing? That Queensland is the dumb state?’ It’s so embarrassing.”

Her role in Wolf of Wall Street: “When I first read it, I thought, I have nothing in common with her. I hate her. It was a really tricky one to get my head around. But her motivation was ‘You guys are doing it—why shouldn’t I? It’s this man’s world, and I’m going to get mine.’ And I understand that.”

On Harley Quinn: “She doesn’t even have superpowers. She’s just a psychopath who runs around gleefully killing people—she finds joy in causing mayhem, which makes her weirdly endearing and fun to watch.”

Playing Jane in Tarzan: “There’s no way I was going to play the damsel in distress… [but after reading the script] It just felt very epic and big and magical in some way. I haven’t done a movie like that. The Harry Potter films could have been really cheesy, but David Yates made them into something dark and cool and real – plus it was shooting in London, and I, on a whim, had just signed a lease on a house there.”

On her boyfriend of two years, Tom Ackerley, an assistant director: “I was the ultimate single gal. The idea of relationships made me want to vomit. And then this crept up on me. We were friends for so long. I was always in love with him, but I thought, Oh, he would never love me back. Don’t make it weird, Margot. Don’t be stupid and tell him that you like him. And then it happened, and I was like, Of course we’re together. This makes so much sense, the way nothing has ever made sense before.”

Unlike some celebrities who sort of force the “I’m so normal” image down our throats, I actually buy that Margot is a pretty normal person. She seems… what’s the word? Unaffected, perhaps. Oblivious to the trappings of fame. Mostly I like her because it feels like she’s not trying to convince me of anything. She just IS. She’s herself, she works hard, she’s been lucky, and she’s not going to complain. It’s refreshing.

She is stunning. What a beautiful woman and yes she seems to have a nice personality.

    • Lee says:

      + 1
Hate the cover though, too photoshopped and she didn’t need it. The inside pics are way better!

    • qwerty says:

Someone on reddit said they met her at a bar in her hometown not long ago and she was just as down-to-earth as she seems in interviews. Had drinks with them and all.

  2. Lilacflowers says:

I’m just here for the kittens and the Viking vampire. Mostly the kittens. Get that woman out of the way!

    • JustCrimmles says:

I’ll help you shove, but only if you share!

      • Lilacflowers says:

I’m willing to share. Now, I’ll grab her feet. You get the arms. We’ll toss her over there. Hold on kitties; we’re coming!

      • doofus says:

while you guys get rid of her, I’ll keep the Viking company.

        RAWR!

      • sauvage says:

Fine, I’ll hold the kittens. The one in the front looks like it’s trying to make a run for it already.

    • Jwoolman says:

I didn’t even bother reading the article, went straight for the kitten pics. Guess everybody will be posing with kittens after the reaction to Keanu. Lucky for us! More kittens, please.

      • Kitten says:

We saw Keanu last Saturday and loved it so much.
Only one complaint: NEEDZ MOAR KITTENZ!

But seriously, I don’t think I could crush harder on Key and Peele.

..and Keanu (the kitten AND the actor).

      • doofus says:

glad to hear it was funny, can’t wait to see it!

      • JustCrimmles says:

        Wordness to the turdness, Kitten.

  3. Jegede says:

    Margot Robbie is beautiful.

I see where the Vogue cover is going with sun-kissed beach vibe, but her head looks superimposed to me.

Like it was attached from another image?

    • QQ says:

YESSSSSS same stuff I came to say, which is crazy cause she otherwise looks fabulous but it legit looks 3d or from a pic where the take was closer?!

    • amilu says:

YES!!! It looks superimposed to me in the kitten picture, too.

  4. Pri says:

You’d think this would be a hot photoshoot, but it is just…meehh.

    Also, bad cover, very basic.

  5. Pandora says:

She sort of.. looks like any random model, no?

  6. Astrid says:

Is the Vampire contemplating eating the kitten?

  7. Jenns says:

That cover is very 80s Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition.

  8. ell says:

she seems really lovely and grounded. i’m not interested in any of her upcoming films though.

    • Lex says:

I completely agree on both counts. She sounds nice and I wish her well. Don’t care for either movie coming out though. Suicide Squad looks so annoying to me.

  9. JustCrimmles says:

Ha. I had a similar experience growing up, in a parish mocked by the one directly south of us. Just not in Australia, which to me was the real injustice. I like her.

  10. Lucy says:

Love the photoshoot and the interview!! The story about the boyfriend is cute. I’m so glad hse’s becoming a bigger name!

  11. Minx says:

They look AMAZING together. I’m loving this shoot so much. Wet Viking? OMG! If they keep this up, I’ll be dead before the movie gets here.

  12. Locke Lamora says:

What does she mean the Harry Potter movies could have been cheesy? Watch your words Margot!

Other than that she sounds fine. I don’t have strong feelings about her either way.

    • teacakes says:

well, look at the first two movies…. Chris Columbus basically made them Home Alone with spells.

  13. Josefina says:

I like her a lot but this is one of the weaker editorials I’ve seen from her.

  14. Annieb says:

She’s really pretty and she has a handsome boyfriend.

  15. Anon says:

Am I the only one who thinks (in this particular photo shoot – I’ve never noticed it before) that she looks a LOT like Rebecca Romijn?!

  16. Jayna says:

    I love this interview.

She was fantastic in the Wolf of Wall Street. She’s very pretty and sexy. I like the cover.

  17. vanessa says:

Margot is soo beautiful and way more genuine than the annoying Jennifer Lawrence.

  18. Darling says:

    I love her. Very refreshing

  19. Kitten says:

    Caaaaaats!!!!!!!

  20. Meredith says:

I will always have a place in my heart for Margot because she was on Pan Am, which was a show I loved, but only like seven other people watched it.

    • Saks says:

I loved Pan Am!!! But my favourite character was Colette. It was a great show I so wanted it to have a second season.

    • imqrious2 says:

I loved it, too!! I was so disappointed when it was cancelled 🙁

  21. Grant says:

She’s the real deal: talent, charisma, and devastating beauty. I can’t wait to see her explode.

  22. Amanda G says:

Now this is a way to start my weekend right! Alex wet!! Yummy!
