I am not sure but I know for sure she did not lose the number to her botox person. Holy wax figure, Batman.

    • Azurea says:

Why do people persist in saying that Botox makes the skin waxy? It has no effect on rhe shininess of the skin — that is due to makeup producing a “dewy” look. You can still be wrinkled & shiny! Botox merely paralyzes the muscles into which it is injected.

      • stinky says:

why indeed! I don’t get it at all and everyone is so on board w/ that same complaint/observation … … drives me nuts cuz it makes no sense.

      • Carol says:

I think when someone overdoes the botox, their skin stretches out and it looks shiny. The only reason I know this is is that my mom recently had too much botox injected into her forehead and it looked absolutely shiny. She wasn’t wearing any makeup and the rest of her face wasn’t shiny either. Not a good look.

      • briefstickershock says:

As I understand it, muscles never really relax. Even during sleep, there’s almost microsopic tension always present, unless some artificial agent or process is introduced. That micro-tension changes the skin’s surface ALMOST on in imperceptible level, making the surface slightly broken up. It’s the difference between a lake with slight ripples on it and glass. Flat, unrippled glass just reflects light more. So Botoxed skin reflects light more, even if its covered in powder.

YEAH. I remember her interview where she talks about how she wouldnt erase her stretchmarks cuase the tell a story or something

      • Lauren II says:

Cate is a woman of substance.
Her wardrobe is irrelevant. All i remember is her brilliance.

    • Maui says:

She did an interview in Australia with Andrew Denton if I remember correctly, and I remember specifically her saying wrinkles are the “song lines of experience” or something similar. She’s talented in the right role but she often talks like she’s one of those pretentious art curators trying to sell you a piece. I think they’re all tempted to do it sooner or later. I saw Kim Basinger in The Nice Guys (I think she was one of the ones who also said she didn’t like the idea of messing with your appearance) and she looks a few steps down from Meg Ryan, she of the joker face. Tom Cruise also looks incredibly puffy these days.

  2. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I’ve never thought Kate had good style except maybe a couple of times with red carpet gowns. That yellow one was gorgeous. But she often looks wtf to me. Her face is so beautiful, but I hate her style.

    • Erinn says:

I’m with you on that one. She’s a stunning woman, but she takes a lot of misses with her styling. I did like a champagne/nude colored dress she wore as well, it was glitterly I believe.

PS – totally got diagnosed with fibromyalgia last night. Luckily my Dr. is the ‘go-to’ physician for it in our town, so I’m starting some meds up tonight to help with the sleeping, then some Lyrica for pain. I’m pretty excited to start doing something about it.

      • Lilacflowers says:

I hope you find a treatment that helps you.

      • Poisonous Lookalike says:

Wishing you all the best, Erinn.

On the topic… Blanchett has never been one of my favorites, sartorially speaking. Sometimes she looks great, but more often than not, something’s a bit amiss for my taste. It does seem like she’s missing with more regularity now…

      • Hudson Girl says:

Erinn, so sorry for all your pain and suffering. Often, finally getting a diagnosis feels like a desperately needed step in the right direction.
My cousin has Fibro and the medicine helped. But, the thing that helped her the MOST was coming to live with me- I’m Celiac and strickly gluten free. After a week or two her pain went away like 90-95%
She went back home, the pain came back. It was during Stage 2 of renovation and staying with me again that she figured out eating an extremely strict gluten free diet helped her the most. Maybe something to do with inflammation? This is probably TMI but, with even the slight chance of it helping you, too- I couldn’t not say anything.

      • Erinn says:

Thanks guys. I’m going to really start pushing the veggies and lean meat type stuff for the mass of my meals. And once I get a bit of pain relief I’m hitting the gym. I’m a sucker for pastries and french bread. So, it’s getting cut out to the bare minimal, and I’m going to get my life on a better track 😀

      • Chocolate says:

Hi Erinn and Hudson Girl, I happen to be skimming through a book called Medical Medium right now. The guy is a very interesting man if you are the open-minded type and the book deals with fibromyalgia and a whole bunch of things (that I know nothing about). Could be worth looking into.

      • KB says:

My thoughts are with you Erinn! It sounds like you’ve got everything in place to get to feeling better, best wishes!

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Erin, I just saw this. I’ll be wishing you every bit of good luck with this! ❤️

      • melior says:

        Warm thoughts, Erin.

      • fibroFreeFinally says:

Try going paleo. Or glutenfree. For me taking gluten out of my food removed 80% of the symptoms. Coffee/anything caffeinated comes in as a distant second on the trublemakers list. Also I am feeling much better without milk and cheeses and strong reduction of meat. Sounds like a horrible way to live but you get used to it and being painfree is worth the extra effort and missing out on some fun foods.
Also look into the stresslevel of your life. My fibro definitely flares up when work or boyfriend suck.
        Hugs to you!

      • Pabena6 says:

Erinn – best wishes! Just one warning on Lyrica (which I take for neuropathy) – you’re going to feel really stupid and fuzzy, and probably feel as if you’re struggling to get your words out (I felt as if I’d had a mild stroke when I tried to talk!). It should get better in a month or so, once it gets stabilized in your system. If you’re like me and my friends, you may feel as if you always stay a bit fuzzy, which is frustrating, but still an acceptable trade-off for the pain relief. Hope it works well for you!

      • sketches says:

Erin, I just saw this post. If you go off Lyrica at any point and your doctor says you can just stop it cold turkey (which two docs and pharmacist said I could) … DON’T. Made me profoundly depressed and teetering on suicidal. It did help my symptoms somewhat while I was on it, though.

    • Sigh... says:

Yeah. Blanchett is like Rhianna in that they have the build/stature to wear fugly stuff better than most, but it’s still fugly.
But when they *do* pull it together…👏👏👏

  3. Bex says:

Is Cate Blanchett good, or is she just tall?

  4. sassy says:

I don’t like her. Ever since cate was on the Oprah show and said her guilty pleasure food is a bowl of rice. I just can’t.

    • Ever since she worked with Woody Allan I lost all respect for her. It’s sad because I really enjoy just about everything I ever see her in. She has never had great style, but does have an elegance about her.

  5. minx says:

Her Tonys dress was hideous. I don’t like her as much as I used to….she seems to have gotten really full of herself.

    • ichsi says:

Her Tony’s dress was hideous because it was Louis Vuitton and everything LV has produced in the past 2 years or so is freaking fugly. This one is better, at least from afar. From close up it’s a mess.

      • Triple Cardinal says:

That explains why Nicole Kidman looks so bad these days. After L’Wren died, Nicole started wearing LV. And she has never looked worse. Those dresses have been vile.

  6. Melody says:

    (Sobs fangirl tears)

  7. Miss M says:

Didn’t she say in 2015 “Oh my God, it’s just a dress”? I hope they are only giving her the ugliest dresses on purpose. #Askherless

  8. lucy2 says:

I don’t mind this on her, but what she had on the other day was a travesty.
I think she has a unique style, not one that I would share, but it often works for her.

That whole Suicide Squad production sounds like a lot of over the top nonsense.

  9. Penelope says:

Her face looks more frozen than usual. I’ve adored some of her red carpet gowns but she seems to miss as much as she hits lately. And she’s become quite full of herself as well.

  10. Vaya says:

So happy for Lola and her new life. Go Ravens!

    • Trishizle says:

That was such a fantastic story, it made me want to cry! I wish more ppl were like that.

  11. Anare says:

Two in a row fugly outfits on Cate Blanchett. This outfit looks so matronly. And I don’t mean retro cool. I mean something she found in the costume dept for The Golden Girls.
Rihanna and Calvin Harris’ new song/video are catchy. ❤️

  12. khaveman says:

Don’t care for the outfit, but she’s awesome. However, I think she has had work done and it needs to “settle?”

  13. Truthie says:

Paid handsomely most likely. 06/2015 DM: “Stylist Jessica Paster, who has worked with Cate Blanchett, admitted at a recent panel discussion at the Vulture festival in New York that an A-list actress can receive up to $US250,000 to wear a dress on the red carpet.”

FYI I am available to wear odd dress concoctions for a mere $5K + travel expenses to the desired event.

  14. EM says:

Cate never had style to begin with. She, like others, accepts any fee to wear whatever piece of rubbish designers pay her to wear.

  15. CharlotteCharlotte says:

Was at the computer for hours, refreshing constantly, waiting for Meatloaf updates! So relived he’s okay. I gave birth to my youngest two to his music, the youngest one whilst I was singing along to Paradise by the Dashboard Light – I like to give the midwives a proper show. Meatloaf is my main man.

Cate Blanchett can suck it. No more paedophile apologists.

  16. Classy and Sassy says:

I actually don’t mind this ensemble. It’s her association with Woody Allen I find offensive.
