Lisa Marie Presley files for divorce from fourth husband, Michael Lockwood

wenn22460022
Lisa Marie Presley has filed for divorce from her fourth husband, Michael Lockwood, after ten years of marriage. The two have seven year-old twin girls together, Harper and Finley. Lisa has an adult daughter and son, Riley and Benjamin Keogh, from her first marriage to Danny Keough. In between she was married to Michael Jackson and to Nicolas Cage (who is coincidentally just separated from his wife, not that I’m suggesting that has anything to do with this). ET confirms that Lisa has filed:

These are Lockwood's only children, while Presley also has a daughter and a son -- Riley and Benjamin Keough -- from her first marriage to Danny Keough, which ended in 1994. In addition to Lockwood and Keough, Presley was married to Michael Jackson from 1994 to 1996, and to Nicolas Cage from 2002 to 2004.

[From ET Online]

TMZ reports that they have a postnup and that Lisa is seeking full custody and wants to give Michael visitation, but that she wants it monitored for some reason. She is not seeking spousal or child support and lists their date of separation as June 13th. Their source states “She doesn’t want any of his money.

I’m surprised that we’re just hearing this news, because I assumed these two had already separated or filed for divorce. The National Enquirer reported in February of this year that they hadn’t been seen together in nine months at that point. They live in Tennessee with their daughters according to the Enquirer’s reporting and had previously lived in East Sussex England, where Lisa used to own a very large estate. She put her property up for sale last year. Lisa has a ton of money, having sold the rights to her father Elvis’s name and image in 2004, before she married Michael, for $100 million. It will be interesting to see how this divorce pans out. I’ve also heard that Lisa either left Scientology or has major issues with it, and it’s thought that Michael is a Scientologist. I wonder if that factors into their divorce at all, or maybe he’s out of Scientology too. She keeps a lockdown on her personal life so I doubt we’ll get any insider information.

I assume he gets custody of the hats?

  2. Lucy2 says:

Four divorces? No more marriage, Lisa Marie. At this point she’s probably put her divorce lawyer’s kids’ through college.

    • Esmom says:

Does the MJ marriage really count? But I hear you. She really doesn’t need to rush to the altar again any time soon.

    • M79 says:

I never doubted that they actually had sex, I don’t know why people think it’s so improbable. If you watch MJ’s concerts, he definitely had a sexuality. There’s a difference between gender expression and sexual orientation. I don’t think MJ saw himself as feminine, all his brothers had soft voices like that and were dancers who married women and had kids. I never thought he was gay or asexual. Lisa Marie swore up and down they really had sex, even after they divorced when she was all pissed at him (and she definitely acted like an ex, to the point where the marriage seemed really real despite what people thought) and even in death she revealed it was a normal marriage. The woman has all the money in the world, a really honest blunt personality, she’s not a people pleaser and doesn’t care about fame, so I don’t see what incentive she has to lie about that. Hard as it is to believe, I think MJ and Lisa had a sexual relationship. She even said they hooked up for four years after their divorce, so they were together for like a 7 year span.

  3. NewWester says:

Lisa Marie wants full custody of their children and Michael gets “monitored visits “. That raises red flags. There is more to this story for sure
Sidenote: Is anyone else surprised she sold the the rights to the Elvis name for only $100 million? I would have thought it would have been much more

    • Juniper says:

Yes, now it seems like a bad deal doesn’t it? She sold everything, the name, likeness, intellectual property, music publishing. Wow. On the other hand, why would she want to manage all that. Furthermore, she was smart in one way: she kept 15% which means the people who are working all that must pay her in addition an ongoing royalty.

    • Bridget says:

I’m guessing it’s because of the CO$ angle. If she left and he didn’t, that would make a lot of sense.

      • JenniferJustice says:

That’s what I’m thinking too. Didn’t Katy Holmes say right after leaving Tommy that she wouldn’t leave Suri alone with “the help”? I’m getting the same vibe.

What is it with Lisa that she keeps marrying freaks? Stop hooking up with freaks, marrying freaks, and having babies with freaks.

      • ida says:

Tony Ortega (super resource for everything COS) is saying the cult did not play a role. quote: “We think it’s presumptuous to assume that the divorce between them, or Lisa Marie’s attempt to get custody over their twin daughters, has anything to do with Scientology. If we hear otherwise, we’ll report it. But for now, we think it’s probably not the case.” Ortega also said that neither lisa marie nor her mother, daughter or future ex husband are members of Scientology (anymore). Lisa Marie left the cult in October 2014 and with her her family went: http://tonyortega.org/2016/06/29/why-lisa-marie-presleys-custody-battle-likely-has-nothing-to-do-with-scientology/#more-32412

      • Bridget says:

It’s unusual to ask for supervised visitation, and it implies that something is amiss. Knowing what we know about CO$, it at least makes sense. But it could be something else, who knows.

  4. Skyblue says:

I don’t know if I could keep a straight face standing next to that man. What on earth is with the hats? And hair?

    • Lisa says:

Skyblue, I actually burst out laughing when I saw the first pic. WTH? Coffee everywhere….

    • lilacflowers says:

I have wondered how Lisa Marie ever kept a straight face while standing next to any of her husbands. That’s quite the list of eccentrics.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I want to punch him in the face for making me look at those hats.

      • Ursaline says:

Hahahahaha, GNAT, you are my comment hero. I’ve been reading this site for almost a decade and yours are some of the best. 😀

  5. Pinky says:

She looks like her mom should be looking, had her mother avoided going under the knife.

  6. Chaine says:

But who will get custody of The Hat?!!

  7. Matador says:

He looks like a guy who thinks he’s living inside a Tim Burton movie.

Marriage isn’t your thing, Lisa Marie.

  8. Alix says:

Can we assume she’s stopped trying for a music career?

  9. Fl girl says:

I find it astounding that she managed to stay married to Michael Jackson and Nicholas Cage for two years each.

    • Naya says:

Well by her account being married to MJ was like hanging with a sibling. Iirc she ended it because all the horse play with her kids and ignoring her existence creeped her out.

      • Cherry says:

That’s really not true. She has testified on numerous occasions that their marriage was real and that she really loved him. Most recently in the Oprah interview a year after MJ’s death http://www.oprah.com/oprahshow/Lisa-Marie-Presley-Opens-Up-About-Michael-Jackson
“I loved taking care of him,” she says. “It was one of the highest points in my life when things were going really well, and he and I were united. It was a very profound time of my life.” (…) ”When we were together, we were really in love, and then we had the rough patches.”
It’s hard to imagine, I know, but then, Lisa Marie is quite an extraordinary lady.

  10. Eleonor says:

This woman was raised in Scientology, and she menaged to escape: she has my respect for this.
If he is involved in that awful cult it would perfectly reasonable to give him monitored visits.

    • Christin says:

That in itself could explain her request for supervision.

She and I are the same age, and I grew up adoring Elvis’ music. I think she ended up in it because of her mother being recruited by John T when Lisa was very young.

      • mayamae says:

The story goes that Lisa Marie was a very rebellious teenager, and getting into a lot of trouble. She only improved when Priscilla enrolled her into Scientology schooling. And that’s why they were so gung ho. That’s another reason for LM’s marriage to Michael Jackson. To bring him into the CO$ fold.

  11. Carol says:

If she left scientology and her soon to be ex husband is still in the cult, then I guess I understand why she would want sole custody and allow him monitored visits. She wouldn’t him to be telling their kids that she is an SP

  12. MrsBPitt says:

Okay, Lisa Marie, after four, FOUR, failed marriages…I would say marriage is not for you! She is becoming the new Liz Taylor! She is still young enough to usurp the record!

  13. LAK says:

I used to thijk that she moved to England to get as far away from CO$ as possible. It coincided with stories along those lines, BUT the CO$ base in England is in East Sussex, so i think she’s not as far away from CO$ as we all think, and merely changed location.

Also, what a stupid move to sell the rights to Elvis. His catalogue is priceless. Priscilla worked hard to get those rights back to the family. $100M is peanuts money given it’s value.

    • Christin says:

Regarding the licensing rights — She actually sold 85 percent, retaining a 15 percent ownership. Lisa and her mother are still involved in promoting Elvis, as well as visits to Graceland, which Lisa still solely owns.

      • LAK says:

        Thanks for update. 🙂

      • lucy2 says:

Thanks for that – I was wondering if she kept some sort of percentage for income, very smart.

      • Christin says:

As someone else suggests, the assumption is that Lisa (and her mother, by extension) did not wish to be so heavily involved anymore.

LAK mentions how hard Priscilla worked to build EPE (company for licensing rights). I have just realized how much I dismissed her efforts, thinking that she just hired good people.

Looking back at the many battles from late 1970s through the 1980s, she had to be concerned about ensuring a profitable estate for her daughter, which was accomplished (but not overnight – it took years of legal battles).

I’ve never gotten the impression Lisa is very business minded, so perhaps Priscilla just wanted to take a step back.

      • LAK says:

Christin: Over the years, i got impression that Lisa was never business-minded too.

When i read above that Lisa had sold the rights, and for only £100M, i thought more about Lisa’s lack of business care than Priscilla’s desire to step back.

I remember the struggle to regain the rights and to rebuild the Elvis beand from the negative equity it had fallen after his death. Her example was a lesson many celebrities have emulated since.

I’ve always had the impression that she was the driving force behind his posthumous revival, even if that meant her only contribution was hiring good people.

At least someone advised Lisa to keep 15% because his rights are priceless.

  14. Abbicci says:

This makes me sad. I wish her only happiness. As gilded as her life has been she has had hardships few can understand. I hope everything works out for her and she finds peace .

  15. MrsBPitt says:

If I was casting a movie and needed to cast a creepy, skeevy dude…I would hire Michael Lockwood….He gives me creep vibes…maybe its the hats!

  16. Snowflake says:

She really likes the odd ducks, doesn’t she? She’s so gorgeous but she always seems to get with weird guys. Get a handsome, well off businessman next time honey.

Oh and ladies, does she have extensions? Her hair is so thick

    • Cherry says:

Why would she need to get a handsome well off businessman? She has money of her own and clearly she’s into men who are, uhm, not ordinary looking. To each their own, you know?

  17. Jayna says:

Something must have really happened for her to request that she gets full custody and that his visitation be monitored. What happened that she doesn’t want him alone with the kids?

  18. bondbabe says:

Maybe they split because of the one time he actually took his hat off….

  19. Michelle says:

I just want to walk up to him and flick the bill of his hats with my finger. And then grab LM and tell her to stop marrying men!! Spend some time alone, find yourself, get a boy toy, travel, but don’t get married!!

  20. Bread and Circuses says:

If he’s a Scientologist, that might be the reason why she wants his visitation monitored.

i.e. Maybe she’s got no issue with her ex having access to his daughters but she doesn’t trust Co$ an inch to not worm their way in and try to brainwash the kids.

  21. Tiffany says:

A postnup, uh. That means ,something must have went down long before this separation and I think it is beyond the selling of Elvis’ rights.

  22. lucy says:

    Bummer.

BTW, that hat is a cry for help.

    Peace and love to LisaMP.

  23. Christin says:

More stories are coming out this evening that suggest finances were a big issue. It sounds like he may have been in charge of her money and something went wrong.

One recycled quote from their happier days mentions how she appreciated all the things he took on for her. She didn’t have to worry about anything, he handled it (reference was music, but perhaps that extended to handling her money as well).

Also, she filed in LA and he cannot be found to be served (allegedly). The plot thickens.

Oh Lisa, take some responsibility for the money your parents worked hard to build for you and your children.

  24. Brasileira says:

Maybe she did leave Scientology and he’s still a part of it, hence, asking for custody and supervised visitations for him….
