Did I call this? I don’t even remember. Somebody called it. Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney are over after five years together. They met and fell for each other while making Gaga’s music video for “You & I,” and they announced their engagement in February 2015. I actually forgot that it was that recent – I thought they got engaged several years back, but no. He proposed Valentine’s Day 2015. Everyone read the tea leaves when Gaga and Taylor kept pushing back their wedding plans and trying to lower expectations as to when or if they would ever marry. And now they’re done.
Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney are going their separate ways. The longtime couple recently ended their engagement, PEOPLE confirms.
Kinney popped the question in 2015 on Valentine’s Day with a heart-shaped ring after four years together. “I really can’t imagine being with anyone other than who I’m with right now,” the singer told Howard Stern right before the proposal. “He is the right guy. I have that feeling. I just know it.”
The couple have always been very supportive of each other’s careers. At the Golden Globes this year, Gaga, 30, revealed Kinney, 35, turned down the opportunity to take the stage at the award ceremony to make sure all eyes were on her.
Is anyone really mourning the end of this relationship? I always thought they were more of a fling, but somehow they made it work for five years, which seems crazy. I never really cared about the superficial complaints about Taylor and Gaga as a couple – oh, he’s “handsome” and she’s “unconventional” – but I have to say that I never really thought they were well-matched. He’s a good-looking but vague-seeming guy on a TV show and she’s one of the most popular and recognized singers in the world (or she was at one time). Plus, I always sort of believed the rumors that one or both of them fooled around.
PS… Gaga is now leaving room for the idea that they could get back together. Again, what’s the point?

I do very much agree with the sentiment of it being tacky (sorry ladies who love heart shaped things). It takes a certain personality to rock heart-shaped anything. I think Mariah could pull it off, but I lack her panache.
it may be tacky but it is also very cute. they seemed solid, then again so did Kruger and Jackson. Meanwhile, Miranda Kerr got her self a billionaire… It is bad month for blondes. I am scared for myself.

I’m indifferent on Gaga but I did watch some interview (or was it a bts video) of them together. He is a gruff take charge guy and she has a strong personality that tends to overwhelm the people around her. He must have been a refreshing change from the simpering types around her. I can also believe he cheated on her constantly as part of his whole power thing. See also all of Madonnas significant relationships.
Oh, ew. That’s messed up and if it’s true then she’s well rid of him. I dated a guy for about 7 years who sounds just like you describe and he was bad news, really messed me up for a while.
I like the gruff take charge kinda guy so I an see why she was drawn to him. I have a somewhat strong personality that scares men easily but I guess that’s a bit of a draw back growing up with 4 brothers, u learn to stand up for yourself and be independent from a young age. Even now my brothers wives all joke that when I call they all jump – lol.
Gruff and take charge is one thing, but constant cheating is not something anyone should have to put up with.

I couldn’t agree with you more. She is so affected and a major hypocrite.
I remember she was being interviewed with Tony Bennett for one of the talk shows, and she dominated the entire conversation, showing little respect for the elder icon, sitting next to her. She really seems impressed with herself and her talent.
The more she has changed her face, the more obnoxious, she has become. Also, that Golden Globe win, which she didn’t deserve, has only added to her inflated self image. She now see herself as a thespian-LOL!!!
Why do we automatically assume that men are the ones who cheat? If they’re both strong personality types, what makes it any less likely that gaga cheated?
Considering all her ‘changes’ and that that stems from feeling insecure, my guess would be she was the one who cheated. Insecure people tend to need constant reassurance and usually it’s not enough from just their significant other.
I don’t see her as dominating so much as super high maintenance – emotionally, physically, drama, etc. That gets old. Add to that her superiority complex and over inflated ego – I’m surprised anybody would stay with someone like that for five years. Who knows? All guesses.
All I know is she has pretty much always bugged me, she seems like the pinnacle of high maintenance, and he seems low key and laid back. They always seemed like a mismatch to me, although some friends used to see them in Chicago at a local bar when he was filming and said they were cute and normal.
I never felt this couple as a match. Seemed beard-y and contractual.
They looked like a nice couple not flashing their love in our faces like some other couples these days. And that says a lot since one part of that relationship was a diva who can’t pass the opportunity to be in the public eye. However they did seem like a very odd couple

I loved them as a couple. Taylor always seemed incredibly supportive of her career and I love what she said in an interview about him being blind to her clothes etc. and just seeing her as a normal girl. I hope they get back together!

They’ve been on break. The Little Monsters have been reporting their every move for a while, and it was obvious they weren’t spending any time together while he was on break from his show this summer. She wasn’t with him for his birthday, not at his brother’s wedding. The ring has been off for a while they noticed. She never went to Pennsylvania this past month where he’s staying, and she usually spends time up there with his family in the past. Too many signs were there that they were on a break or not doing well or broken up.

She’s the more famous one in her relationship but for some reason, I always thought he’d be one who stepped out. When she followed him on location a while back, the assumption was that she went along because his co-star was so attractive. But he’s actually not the one who’s been cheating.
She’s the one who found a new kind of work and picked up a sidepiece. They can’t help themselves on set. Another art imitation of life situation as they creep around and so far it hasn’t gotten back to her bonafide yet but the cast and crew are aware and the guy she’s hooking up with is married. Right now it’s “just” an affair. Like they’re not pretending they’re in love yet. But if (when?) both these couples don’t end up working out, look back to this as a sign.

I’m sure THEY’RE mourning the end of the relationship. Holding out hope for a reconciliation isn’t wrong or weak if you love a person. There is a underlying heartlessness to this post that I find really dispiriting.
He films in Chicago a good part of the year. Then if he can get small movie parts off season, he does. He’s been in a few. He has a home in Pennsylvania and likes to get back to stay there some for part of his time off.
Since they’ve dated she’s been on a world tour twice. Add to that all it takes to write a record and do all of the promotion, which for Gaga is heavy. Then she gets off of the Artrave Tour and off she goes with Tony on tour. Then she gets off that, and besides lots of little side things and performances, tributes, she signs on for AHS to act in the latest season of the show. She now is writing her next album and it will be out, plus another album with Tony will happen this year. She will start promoting and head out on a huge world tour probably next year. And then it comes out she has signed on to do another AHS show in some capacity. Then it’s announced she’s in talks to do Bradley Cooper’s remake of a Star is Born, and it look like she’s in.
Where does he fit in? How long can you go with such a long-distance relationship and see that for her career she is adding on more things, not less? And he’s living in Chicago filming his TV show. Gaga’s career takes here everywhere but Chicago, except a concert.
I think the relationship is what suffered from that. Her tweet showed that they are on break and trying to see where they go, so all hope isn’t over yet they will end. But, honestly, I think the relationship became strained this year from all of it and no light at the end of the tunnel. He’s older than her and maybe that plays into it for where you are in life.
They do seem like a cute couple, and you could see there was a lot of love there. But so much distance year after year does not make the heart grow fonder after a while.
Sorry I find her insufferable and so ME ME ME. I don’t know how he could have put up with that for five years.
I assumed it was raise his public persona, and possibly for her money, other than that, I would have no idea either.
Ok, as different as I thought they were, they were really sweet together and seemed to really love each other. Gaga’s words in US about the break-up being more of just a break because of the distance. She says they have ups and downs like most couples but that they are soul mates and the distance because of work has been hard.
My favorite, she says, “Please root us on,” she continued. “We’re just like everybody else and we really love each other.” Aawww! She’s such a nice girl. Whatever the outcome, I hope it’s for the best but I’ll root them on.
I always had a slightly soft spot for her, she’s so insecure. I feel bad for her. But he was exponentially boring compared to her.

I don’t know anything about her relationships, but I am a Huge fan of AHS and she made season 5 IMO.
To each their own, but I thought she was cardboard. Nor am I happy that she will be returning for the next season, I wish Jessica Lange would come back, instead of her.
LeAnn Stinks (love your username) I SO agree! I watched all AHS seasons (the first two are just awesome) and season 5 was a drag (besides the immense Denis O’Hare and Evan Peters.) It was almost annoying to keep on watching.
All I got is he reminds me of Sandra Bullock’s new-ish beau.
And that I’m glad to having something to read that isn’t Taylor or Kardashian/West/Jenner. I don’t click on those out of principle, so the pickings have been slim lately.

With that being said, AHS is one of my guilty pleasures and I didn’t find her performance that great. I get what they were going for with the character, but she ended up looking like someone who couldn’t move her face due to plastic surgery. Extremely irritating.
They always seemed an unlikely couple to me. She is a mega star and he is an average actor. However they looked happy together and five years is a long time for a showbiz relationship. It’s a shame they have split.
