While the fanbases have been incredibly active over the past week, Calvin Harris chose not to “pile on” his ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift in the wake of Kim Kardashian dropping the receipts. Calvin had already done his best work the week before, when he got the ball rolling with some excellent and shady tweets, culminating in one of the easiest takedowns ever: “I know you’re off tour and you need someone new to try and bury like Katy ETC but I’m not that guy, sorry. I won’t allow it.” “Katy ETC” is the shorthand now.
So Team Calvin people united with Team Kanye and Team Katy Perry people in the past week, and it’s been a beautiful thing. But Calvin kept quiet for the most part. Sure, he wanted you to know that he’s dating someone new, the beautiful singer Tinashe. But not one word about Taylor. As it turns out, Calvin did drop one little clue on Snapchat, which is apparently where people go to shade Taylor Swift now. Skip ahead to around the 1:16-minute mark of this video, which is just a collection of Calvin’s Snapchats of the week (beware: if you watch the whole video, there are some NSFW words thrown around).
That’s Calvin singing along to “THat Part,” a song by ScHoolboy Q, featuring Kanye West. Calvin is singing along to the line half-sung by Kanye: “Wifey gonna kill me, she the female O.J. Y’all don’t feel me, man, this ain’t OK.” So… is Calvin Harris now on Team Kanye? Um. This one is a no-brainer. Of course Calvin is on Team Kanye. I suspect that post-breakup, Calvin is Team Kanye, Team Katy, Team Mayer, Team Gyllenhaal, Team Styles and more. And now people really want Calvin to collaborate with Kanye. I would be down with that? I think Kanye and Katy should do “E.T. Part II: The Receipts” produced by Calvin.
As for Calvin’s thing with Tinashe, I hate the way his “friends” are describing the relationship. Sources told E!: “He has been hanging out with Tinashe a little more. He likes her but made it very clear to her he is not looking for anything serious. She is a hot girl and a good distraction from all the past drama Adam had this month. He is not looking for anything serious at this time. He just wants to chill. He thinks she is a cool chick and pretty.” That’s gross. Even if it’s just a hookup situation, you don’t go around telling people that your sex partner is just a “distraction.”
PS… These photos of Calvin are from July 15th, before the Dropping of the Receipts. Calvin was partying at Skyspace, at a party hosted by Kendall Jenner. Kim Kardashian was there. Kim and Calvin also spent time together this weekend at Jennifer Lopez’s birthday party. Yes, Calvin has chosen his side.

I know I would not trust him too much let alone have any kind of lenghty convo with him….yikes!

Thanks for saying that really means a lot to many of us women who understand exactly what is going on, which is the always bully Kanye getting desperate to find a #1 hit for the last 10 years he has had no #1 hits at all since 2005… so he bullies and degrades with enjoyment the #1 Grammy Artist of 2016 to get that much needed boost… So not artistic, if you find yourself one day with no talent left please RETIRE with grace…
Taylor’s off living her best life while these fools (all of them older than she is) are spending their days taking swipes at her to maintain part of the conversation. The only thing keeping any of them relevant or in the news is their relationship to her. Pathetic.
Something tells me this is just the tip of the iceberg. I wonder if CH has some serious information about Tay-Tay and is just aching to get it out slowly and painfully (for her). However, I just wish everyone would just get over themselves and get on with life. This is looking all to junior high school to me.
I think it’s just her track record catching up with her. The drama with Katy Perry (who had less goodwill), the drama with Nicki Minaj (when Katy pointed out her hypocrisy), the issue with Calvin Harris (who commented on Taylor’s strategized “burying” of people), and then a purported issue with Kanye for the third time. Oh, and a series of romantic interests who all supposedly wronged her. And let’s not forget the many many things Diplo said.

Exactly. Her goodwill has been spent and she’s in debt. So I wouldn’t be surprised if more leaks out. I’ve always believed the common denominator was Swift…I never believe stories where one person has an issue with almost everyone.
The only one I’m not sure about is Diplo. Guy was such a skeeze, and he seemed like Katy’s lapdog in that situation. But who knows. Maybe he does know something – maybe he just wanted to get some attention and freak TS out. It’s so hard to tell with these people, because you don’t know who is keeping quiet to protect themselves, and who just has nothing to say.
@erinn I totally passed on Diplo first time around because I was like, who cares? Well, recently I went back and read what CB posted here, all five threads. While he is gross and vile, the things he is saying all ring spectacularly true in light of everything we’ve seen and learned recently. They are totally worth going back to for more perspective. ESPECIALLY the comments, they play right into the narrative she’s trying to push.

IMO the longer Kim and Calvin string this out, the worse they look and the better Taylor looks. Swift haters might want to take note. The snake emojis and the singing in the background was funny the first couple of days but now I think most of the public has moved on to the next scandal du jour.

Both sides are so juvenile, but it’s interesting to note how Calvin has been looking happier than ever since the break-up. He’s clearly enjoying this so much. When he and Taylor were together, he always looked grumpy and uncomfortable. I believe it was a couple set in PR offices that became sort of authentic along the road. However, whereas Tay-tay (as usual) was busy painting the portrait of the Most Perfect Love Story Since Taylor and Harry©, Calvin put no effort at all. This is probably why it ended (Taylor needed a willing participant, especially with her reputation of being clingy). She found a perfect contestant in Hiddleston.
This just makes him look bitter he got dumped, desperate for the kind of media attention he used to get with her on his arm, and just pathetic all around. Not attractive in the least.
I’m sure he does have legitimate issues with her and how she handled the end of their relationship. But you always, ALWAYS look better taking the high road in the long run. Her exes like Jake Gyllenhall and Connor Kennedy look so much better compared to him. The image you WANT to put out is that you can’t be bothered by this petty nonsense. Harry Styles also looked like a baller who was above it all until he posted that snake emoji and then deleted it. Now he just looks immature and juvenile.

I kind of feel like his “relationship” with tinashe is just for publicity. It made him look bad for to get played by Taylor so now he wants to show that he’s over her and moving on. My problem is, why would tinashe’s people be ok with the way his people are talking about her? That’s not good publicity at all and makes her seem cheap. Maybe they’re going the way of all publicity is good publicity, but I don’t think Calvin Harris’s rebound chick is a good look.

When he and TS first ended – his people were pushing the “she’s too clingy, she wants marriage and babies” thing. Then when the photos with TH came out it was suddently “Calvin feels like he was betrayed, she must have cheated!” which doesn’t fit with the clingy narrative. Then it was the “Well if Taylor was soooo happy with her new life, she’d keep her mouth shut”. Then that all switched to “Calvin has been casually seeing Tinashe for a couple weeks now on the DL. He’s found new love” and now it’s “Oh it’s so casual, she’s a distraction”.
It must be tiring to work as PR to celebs. Especially ones who are in the midst of a big attention grabbing set of stories. The narratives change SO much. I just picture them in meetings with the celebrities, taking notes like “Okay – so how are you feeling? Have you moved on? Is this a real relationship, is it casual? Give me something to run with”.
I feel like the only person that this could possibly benefit is CH. This girl isn’t hugely known, and she’s already getting written off as a ‘distraction’. And even though he might gain something from it – re-do the playboy image? – it’s making her look kind of sad. And I don’t like it. Even if she jumped into this mess as a cling-on for attention, I feel bad for her.
You know – if you are on top of the World, people are always going to try and take you down. Taylor was the top paid celebrity of the year. No, she is not a perfect person. But all of this drama is really reaching IMO.

As much as I enjoy the gossip aspect of his pettiness, he really should let it go and stop acting like a pathetic fool. That being said, he must really dislike Swift because he’s clearly reveling in schadenfreude.
