Blind item: which ‘Fast & Furious 8’ costar pissed off Dwayne Johnson?

wenn24540351

The Rock posted this Instagram yesterday, and now everyone is buzzing about who Dwayne Johnson could possibly be beefing with. You see, Dwayne is wrapping up on Fast and Furious 8, and he apparently loved working with his female costars, like Helen Mirren (I’m not joking) and Charlize Theron. But Dwayne hated someone (or several someones) during filming. This is what he wrote:

This is my final week of shooting #FastAndFurious8. There’s no other franchise that gets my blood boiling more than this one. An incredible hard working crew. UNIVERSAL has been great partners as well. My female co-stars are always amazing and I love ’em. My male co-stars however are a different story. Some conduct themselves as stand up men and true professionals, while others don’t. The ones that don’t are too chicken shit to do anything about it anyway. Candy asses. When you watch this movie next April and it seems like I’m not acting in some of these scenes and my blood is legit boiling – you’re right.

Bottom line is it’ll play great for the movie and fits this Hobbs character that’s embedded in my DNA extremely well. The producer in me is happy about this part😉. Final week on FAST 8 and I’ll finish strong.

This is a great blind item because there are so many possibilities. Here’s a list of the men in Fast & Furious 8, with my comments on each:

Scott Eastwood. Probability: High. Scott is a well-known frat-douche.
Vin Diesel. Probability: Low, I would think. This is Vin’s big franchise and I’m pretty sure he gets along well with Dwayne.
Jason Statham. Probability: Low? Jason has a well-known love of stunts and stunt-men, and he doesn’t like men who act unprofessional either.
Kurt Russell. Probability: Low. Kurt Russell is an American treasure.
Lucas Black, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris: I have no idea. Could be any or all of them?

  1. Incredulous says:

Pissing off all six-five, three hundred odd pounds of The Rock seems kinda dumb to me.

    • Snazzy says:

Right? Plus he seems like the nicest guy. You have to be a real ass for the Rock to call you out on something

      • tigerlily says:

That’s what I thought too. He usually has nothing but positive things to say so it must’ve been a total douchebag who got him riled.

  2. kri says:

I will go for Scott and Tyrese. Many years ago, I ran into Tyrese and he was a total assface. It was brief, but oh…jerk. Maybe it was just a bad day…you never know. As for Scott he just seems like someone who was born lucky. And doesn’t know it.

    • Anna says:

I think it’s Scott. I doubt it’s Tyrese. He’s annoying but he seems to have good relationships professionally and the other day the cast members were hanging out. And I doubt it’s Ludacris either. I bet it’s Scott and Lucas being frat bros together

    • Jade says:

I would think Scott too but The Rock has previously tweeted positive things about him

  3. V4Real says:

I hope Scott Eastwood wasn’t one of them. The boy gets it bad enough around here.

I would place my bet on Jason Statham though I hear some people say he’s a nice guy. What if it’s Vin? Oh, no……………it can’t be.

Tyrese or Ludacris maybe or the new comers. Ah hell I give up

    • Lolamd says:

Nah I dont think Jason. Rock put a video of him and Jason on his Instagram saying one of his best buddies or something like that.

    • Naya says:

It could be Vin. A feud may have brewed because it was a Vin vehicle once upon a time but Rock is now the bigger star and without a doubt is picking up the bigger check. Maybe Vin is peeved at the drop in status on set or maybe Rock is threw his weight around. Nobody in Hollywood is above ego play. Not even the guy who is airing it out publicly.

    • detritus says:

Vin actually seems like a really nice guy with very little ego. Statham doesn’t seem like he takes things seriously enough to fight with anyone.
My bet is on someone younger.

      • Lexie says:

My money’s on Vin. He puts on a good show for the public but in the industry he’s known as a pretty tyrannical asshole. The stories I heard from a producer of The Last Witchhunter….

      • detritus says:

        Nooooooooooooo
I was going to say ‘how can a man who plays D&D be a jerk’, then I remembered highschool.

    • Emma - The JP Lover says:

      @V4Real …

I don’t think it’s any of the original cast because The Rock has worked with them since “Fast and Furious 5” and this is number 8. If it were any of the original cast The Rock would have said something after each of the last 3 films. Everyone who has worked in that franchise talks about how much of a family the main cast have become. They have a knack for choosing actors and actresses who have good chemistry with everyone, and that includes Jason Statham, whom they all seemed to get along with during “Fast and Furious 7.” It has to be one or two of the new actors in the franchise.

  4. moon says:

Ouch. Definitely Scott Eastwood. Not sure about Jason – isn’t he a big party guy? He seems like he would be professional on set though.

  5. Sam says:

My money is on Eastwood, for sure. The Rock has worked on several of these movies and never had a bad word to say. So it’s not Vin – he’s been there forever. Same with Tyresese, Ludacris, etc. The only “new” one is Scott Eastwood.

Though I have a friend who was an extra on a movie set with Tyrese and he has nothing nice to say about him, so that makes me wonder…

    • Locke Lamora says:

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. He worked with almost all of them apart from Scott and Jason. So my money’s on Scott.

And as much as I love The Rock, this was unprofessional of him. Unless it was a PR stunt, but in that case it’s stupid.

      • Sam says:

From what I know of the Rock, he’s a genuinely really nice guy. He must have been really pushed to call somebody out publicly. While my first thoughts were that it’s not very professional, I can sympathize with feeling pushed to the limit and feeling like you don’t have the ability to really air your grievances (especially if the wrong party has a very famous daddy). I can forgive him for calling somebody out, especially if that’s the only way he thinks he can get some results. Sucks, but given his otherwise awesome reputation, I tend to think he’s not just being a jerk here.

      • Feebee says:

I dunno. Haven’t seen any of the other movies and I think I might of see it just to watch The Rock not act. 🙂

      • manta says:

But Statham was in the previous one. So they’ve worked together already.
They seemed to get along just fine. But hey, as others already wrote, people change or situations do.

      • Tash says:

The Rock always seems professional and up for anything so this guy must have really pissed him off.

      • Margo S. says:

I don’t think this is unprofessional. I think it’s a response. It’s obviously Scott and I think after that horrendous article came out with him and grandpappie Clint, he decided to throw shade.

  6. pikawho? says:

Its probably Scott Eastwood. I can definitely see him saying something racist “accidentally” on a set with more POC actors than what Hollywood normally allows. It would be impossible to grow up in a home with Clint and not have some of that casual hatred and unfounded sense of racial superiority rub off.

Plus he just looks like a dick.

    • Diana says:

“Plus he just looks like a dick” =>DEAD

    • cr says:

He didn’t grow up with Clint though.
But as he’s the newest male actor on the series and DJ hasn’t had a problem before, the odds are strong that it’s Scott.

    • holly hobby says:

Except he didn’t grow up with Clint? He was raised by a single mother. Yup Clint just pretty much dumped all his kids with the moms.

Not saying it can’t be him either, though.

      • pikawho? says:

But conservatives are all about nuclear families and single mothers are literally tools of satan?! What a disappointment. At least he still looks like a dick. That can’t be disputed.

  7. Krista says:

My money is on Eastwood. I don’t really follow these movies, but Ludacris, Tyrese and Diesel are all franchise regulars, correct? If there was a issue with any of them, I think it would have come out long ago. I’m guess Eastwood because he looks like he could play a villain and I don’t know who Lucas Black is.

    • V4Real says:

“I don’t know who Lucas Black is.”

So you never saw Sling Blade huh?

    • JWQ says:

He was the kid in American Gothic. He was also in Jarhead and currently does NCIS New Orleans

    • mom2two says:

Lucas Black was in the Tokyo Drift F&F movie. I don’t think the Rock was in that one.
That might also be the one that was missing both Diesel and Paul Walker too.

However, Ludacris, Tyrese, Diesel have all been with the franchise for a while.

Can’t see the Rock calling out Kurt Russell or Jason Statham.

Scott Eastwood, in the interview also done with Clint, stated that he’s the only one set that does not go back to his trailer as he likes to watch how scenes and stuff are done and ask questions. It seems to point to Eastwood but who knows???

    • Kat says:

He was also the star of Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift…..

    • iheartjacksparrow says:

You’ve never seen American Gothic? The one from the 1990s with Gary Cole and Sarah Paulson, not the new show that stole its name.

      • tigerlily says:

I loved that show! I was surprised at the new AG. The whole cast from the old AG was amazing particularly young Lucas Black. Very expressive face. I was so disappointed when the series was canceled.

I think with the amount of work Lucas Black gets and the fact that he isn’t a big “star”…..I just don’t think the Rock was referring to him. Eastwood is a known douche so he is my guess.

  8. Jenn4037 says:

No previous issues with Tyrese or Luda – maybe Lucas Black too… Def Eastwood.

    • V4Real says:

But people can change. Maybe they are all ego tripping(except Vin) because one of the major leads is gone.

Also there were rumors a few years back that even Paul Walker and Vin Diesel didn’t always get along . I think it was around FF4.

      • Jenn4037 says:

Very true! I’m thinking the “candy ass” is a direct dig. Clint Eastwood loves calling people a candyass.

      • Erica_V says:

@Jenn4037 – candy ass is part of his catch phrase from his WWE/F days.

  9. ashley says:

My money is on Eastwood. He’s been handed a nice career thanks to Daddy and he reeks of smug, entitled arrogance.

  10. OhDear says:

Oh man. As Lainey said, whoever pissed him off must have *really* pissed him off.

    (I have no clue)

  11. Betti says:

My money’s on Eastwood. This could be the response to Eastwood’s b!tchy comments from last week where he said that he’s the only one who doesn’t go back to his trailer and stays around to ‘learn’. The guy only has a career because of his last name but thinks he’s a star.

  12. HH says:

He made it plural. I’m guessing Tyrese and Eastwood. They just give me the “take yourself too seriously” vibes.

    • Miss M says:

I am with you on this guess HH! Both of them.
When Paul passed away, he remembered something that he got upset on set and Paul went to talk to him and see if he was OK.

  13. MoP says:

    PR Stunt?

    • V4Real says:

I was thinking the same when I saw it this morning. It’s a way to fill the seats next year and have people try to figure out which scene it is that Dwayne was really mad at his co-stars and not acting.

The movie is going to do well but maybe not as well as the last installment.

  14. Arlene says:

I don’t think it is Scott Eastwood at all, who seems to be like an eager puppy about part of the ‘team F&F’.

  15. D says:

Maybe “candy asses” is a hint, didn’t Scott Eastwood use that phrase in the esquire interview.

    • V4Real says:

But The Rock has used that phrase for years. It was a part of his wrestling gimmick to call his opponents candy ass.

“I’m going to lay the smack down on you candy asses”, was one of his taglines along with “if you smell what The Rock is cooking.”

  16. nicegirl says:

I love the phrase, “candy ass”. I use it way too much. I’m a swear-er. A bad habit, I know, but it is a hard one to break.

  17. Nicole says:

Yea my money is on Eastwood. Rock has worked with the others for years so I’m thinking unless something big happened it’s not one of the regular guys

  18. Margo S. says:

I think its Scott. Obviously Scott because his dad is a douche and he LOVES his dad so he’s going to act like his idol.

  19. RedOnTheHead says:

Don’t know, don’t care. I just want the Rock for President!! He would wipe the floor with the two assholes we have to choose from now.

  20. Lucy says:

Let’s wait and see which one responds first, then we’ll know. Definitely not Diesel, Statham nor Russell imo. I could be wrong, tho.

  21. Penelope says:

Any excuse to see a picture of The Rock in all his gorgeous hotness is ok by me.

Not sure who it could be but he must be a real ayehole to piss off The Rock to this degree.

  22. Jayna says:

    Tyrese is my guess. .

No way Scott Eastwood. He is probably in awe being on set with these guys and this franchise. But, then again, maybe he is delusional and thinks he’s a hot shot now and the Rock isn’t taking that from a small fry like Scott.

    • Happy21 says:

I agree with you Jayna. My first thought is that Scott Eastwood is a relatively newcomer to stardom, movies and Hollywood. I’d think if anything he’d be a total suckhole to all the major players here I don’t know who it would be because I don’t know enough about the smaller players. I do know Vin seems extremely humble and likeable, likewise for Jason Statham. And I don’t even need to mention Kurt Russell because he’s all kinds of awesome and it isn’t even remotely possible.

  23. Tiffany says:

Scott Eastwood for the win. I follow Tyrese on IG and he is always filming things and there was one where is snaped at Eastwood to sit down and then just ebbed and flowed with everyone else. I cannot say Tyrese because the man works just as hard as The Rock and has been with the franchise for a looong time and F Gary Gray will not put up with that from him as they go way back.

Also, it takes alot to upset The Rock. Good going Scott, upset someone who can actually help you in this biz.

  24. Velvet Elvis says:

In all the interviews and talk shows where I’ve seen Scott Eastwood, he actually seems like a genuinely nice guy and nothing like his dad. Not arrogant at all. I don’t think it’s him.

  25. hey-ya says:

….there’s 3 huge egos in this fanchise..vin tyrese n rock…all the other guys are incidentals…the only guy who came across as not having an ego was Paul cos he’d been in so many turkeys…I read tyrese got 5 mil for transfomers 1 way more than anyone else in that movie…the role rock played in that movie with kevin hart really creeped me out (hes not that good an actor)…as someone else commented…maybe Paul kept them all grounded…on set…rip…

    • Boxy Lady says:

hey-ya I thought of Paul Walker too. He was so easy going, he probably helped eased tensions on the set more than once. Since he’s gone now, everyone’s egos can run rampant without interference. If this is how things went down, the “candy asses” could be anyone, whether they are new or old to the franchise.

My bet is actually on Vin. Paul himself said that he and Vin didn’t always get along and weren’t really friends off the set (in the early part of the franchise, anyway).

      • H says:

Paul and Vin couldn’t stand each other after F&F1, but came around after third/fourth movie. As much as I like Vin, I think it’s him. Paul kept him grounded and without Paul around…

      • Miss M says:

I forgot about that… It is quite possible it is about Vin. Vin is also one of the producers…

  26. Erica_V says:

Hummmmmm I’m not sure about this. Part of me thinks it’s a work to drum up some discussion about the movie. Part of me thinks it’s real and that this is sort of a douche move by the Rock.

It’s Vin’s movie. It’s not movie. It’s Vin’s franchise, not yours. Go in, do your work, collect your check and don’t trash your coworkers.

  27. Rebecca says:

TMZ’s source says, “There have been various conflicts because of “extreme egos” among most of the top actors.”

It sounds like TMZ is implying the conflict is between Vin Diesel, Jason Statham and the Rock.

  28. Veronica says:

My first instinct was Eastwood, but Lainey pointed out that the Rock spoke very positively about him not to long ago, so it seems unlikely if that’s taken into account. Eastwood is a total frat boy, but I think he’d be more likely to idolize Johnson than piss him off.

    • Bridget says:

The Rock is also someone who would stick to his own weight class. It would have to be bad for him to punch down and call out Eastwood publicly.

  29. Amanda G says:

Isn’t he also being unprofessional and a “candy ass” by turning to social media with this issue? Or it’s all a stunt for more publicity.

My bet is on Eastwood since he mentioned the word “candy ass” in a recent interview.

    • MB says:

You know what, I am surprised I had to scroll down so far to see this type of comment.
I totally agree! It seems quite childish to take to social media to publicly vent about a co-worker.

  30. Nicole says:

Apparently it was about Vin and some of he decisions he made as a producer. Either way Rock shouldn’t have taken it to Twitter because it just made it worse. Now the entire cast is pissed at him and rightfully so

  31. Zuzus Girl says:

It’s Vin D.. Story on Dlisted.

  32. vespernite says:

Umm…MAYBE this is just a marketing ploy to get you all talking and interested in seeing the film. The man basically tells you straight up “hey if you want to know who I may be talking about, see the movie!” Not a true blind item, just clever marketing.

  33. MsCandy says:

I think it’s just a way for people to be hyped to go watch the movie. The last movie was all about how Paul Walker and seeing how they added him to finish the movie. Now they need to create a plot! Drama sells!!! The Rock isn’t dumb, he’s a classy guy this is def out of character for him, moreover to assume it’s just a ploy for the whole cast to make the cha-ching.
