Tom Hiddleston spent a few days in Rhode Island with Taylor & her parents

He's really so Loki (low-key) in real life! ❤️ #tomhiddleston

You can really tell that someone within Camp Tiddles has stopped leaking every single detail of the Tiddlebanging, because these days, the legitimate gossip outlets like People and Us Weekly are playing catch-up to Twitter and Instagram. The above Instagram is a fan photo taken with Tom Hiddleston at either LAX or an Australian airport. Meaning, Tom already quietly flew back to Australia with little muss or fuss. But where was he flying from, you might ask? Thankfully, Us Weekly and People Magazine confirmed what was widely assumed/stalked by fans on social media: Tom spent the weekend in Rhode Island with Taylor Swift.

Rhode Island has a special place in Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston’s romance, after all it was the very place Hiddleswift first went public in June. Most recently, the couple “enjoyed a quiet weekend at her Rhode Island home. Taylor sent her plane to pick up Tom before the weekend,” a source tells PEOPLE.

Hiddleston, 35, was photographed departing for New England on Swift’s plane Sunday and was pictured arriving in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

[From People]

Us Weekly’s source says the same, that Tom spent a few days in Rhode Island, “where he spent some quality time with her family. [Taylor] was spotted greeting him on the plane upon his arrival in the Ocean State.” Time with her parents? I wonder if Tom asked for Taylor’s father’s permission for Tay’s hand in marriage?

So, again, Tiddles is still happening but they’re not going out of their way to supply us with Tiddlebanging photos. And yet it does feel like they’re giving us enough evidence to ensure that we still know they’re Tiddlebanging. It’s a fine line, and they’re Tiddlebanging the crap out of that fine line.

According to LaineyGossip, Taylor’s private plane has been tracked back to Nashville. So it doesn’t look like Taylor is going to follow Tom back to Australia any time soon. Hm.

Hope they enjoyed the oppressive heat and humidity here. Never even told me they were in town!

    • KWM says:

Seriously and I didn’t get my pool invite! Today is a delight, now this is the RI weather we are supposed to have!

  2. Snazzy says:

I find it very strange the way people stalk her plane

    • lilacflowers says:

Agree. It is a bit scary.

    • KHLBHL says:

Right? I know Tiddles kinda invited this level of attention and they’re okay with it to some extent and they have security so they’ll probably be okay, but if I was some high profile celebrity, it would be really, really scary that they know where I am at all times. “They” meaning every single person on the planet, including the creeps. It’s scary enough that even the average private citizen doesn’t have a lot of privacy anymore, given all the ways governments and companies like Google and Facebook track us, but celebrities? Zip zilch nada. Plus all the crazy stalker fans and pervs out there. That’s scary.

      • Fa says:

She rich & famous she can make her flights itineraries private but as she is celebrating and grave attention she want you to know where she’s going, still some people don’t get that a celebs can go under radar if they want and they can resurface if they want you to know where they are

      • A says:

You can’t make plane itineries private – that’s how rendition became public knowledge – plane spotters noticed unusual activity

      • paranormalgirl says:

Flight plans/itineraries cannot be made private. Private planes used to be able to, but they can longer do so without a valid security reason. And those are hard to come by unless you’re a head of state.

    • maria 2 says:

I think it is very strange that she never flies commercial

      • Lana 567 says:

Taylor probably doesn’t fly commercial because she doesnt what people to take a photo of her while she is sleeping or ask for an autograph.

    • justme says:

It’s downright creepy. Some of her fans must be certifiable.

  3. Jess says:

    Good for them.
I’m on the camp that believes that they’re really dating, but they also used the PR angle of their real relationship.
Anyway, I think it’s a smart decision to keep themselves more private, and focus in his work.
She also needed, image wise, to dissappear for a little while (as much as someone as her can dissappear).

And I agree with what Lainey wrote yesterday: if they are not papped together for a while, if they attend the Emmys together, it will be more… impactful (?)

    • shelly says:

I believe he is in it to win it, there will be an Emmy appearance and I reckon a definite engagement.

I do hope I never see TH in a save the planet t-shirt ever again though, its bad enough being lectured by celebs on global warming. But his carbon footprint this summer must be enough to melt half of the Artic.

      • Becky says:

Shelly, I agree. Flying on a private jet apparently uses nearly 10 times the carbon footprint vs travelling on a commercial flight. 1 trip is the equivalent to one persons carbon footprint for a whole year. Dicaprio has been criticised for it before.

      • Bonzo says:

She doesn’t seem to stay in one place for more than a few days.

      • Birdix says:

It’s so tempting though–to have the world at your fingertips, with no need to plan ahead. Although I’m sure with her bank account, she could do that commercial too. But what a life! I feel like going to Morocco today! And off you go. Bali tomorrow? I’m in.

      • Dara says:

Taylor really gets around doesn’t she? But all she seems to do is shuttle from one house to another every few days, she never actually ends up anywhere interesting/different/fun. If I had a private jet at my beck and call and as much free time as Tay-Tay does, oh the places I’d go.

  4. Nicole says:

This is no longer fun. They must know how annoyed people are with Taylor and how sad everyone finds Tom. Lol this didn’t work out how either of them thought I think which is funny.
But yea on over the coverage on them. Let me know when they plan the most absurd wedding

    • Betti says:

For someone who recently worked about being over exposed she is desperate to push this romance, thou he is as bad as she is. They really can’t help themselves, such as their thirst for press attention. Both have proven in the past that they can go about their lives under the radar, they just don’t want to.

  5. TommyGirl says:

    Thank goodness for the update!

  6. gggg says:

the pic is so staged. There has never been any paps in burbank airport, ever. And of course its the same company (Imagedirect) that gets all the photos ( RI, rome, nashville, sulffok, etc). Did he even went to RI at the 1st place? Theres a video from an independent pap saying that Tom never landed in RI. 🙁

    • Luca76 says:

Those pictures may or may not have been staged but I’ve seen plenty of photos of various celebrities at that and other private airports.
I’m familiar with the conspiracy theories and it’s a combination of hilarious, scary, and sad that people spend so much time twisting bizarre tales out of very little .

    • TotallyBiased says:

Actually, at least three major photostock agencies who buy from scads of freelancers have had credits in various media for money shots in RI, Rome, and Suffolk UK–Fameflynet got the earliest scoops by some hours, if IIRC.

  7. lilacflowers says:

Well, with the Swiftie trackers working over time, the whereabouts of the planes were known at all times over the past week.

Does Taylor even know that there is a Build–a-Bear in Providence? Has she even been to Providence? Sixer needs the Build-a-Bear thing to happen and it was so close.

And Sixer, I found the perfect shoes for her to wear for the big Build-a-Bear event. http://www.irregularchoice.com/us/collections/swan-heels/savan-b.html

    • Betti says:

I think we need to TELL their PR about Sixers build a bear dream for them, it’s such a great idea am sure they’ll do it. It totes fit right in with her image and target audience.

      • lilacflowers says:

Aren’t they reading US? I’m crushed! Crushed, I tell you. Oh, Luke, have you forsaken us? Or do they have you locked in a damp basement in Watch Hill?

    • Sixer says:

      I do need Buld-a-Bear.

And those shoes! Oh my good lord. I am showing them to Sixlet Major – who is VERY interested in the Ryan Lochte was he mugged or wasn’t he mugged story, and I’m suspicious about why but can’t put my finger on it – and he says I should close the window RIGHT NOW.

      • lilacflowers says:

I am simultaneously repulsed by and mesmerized by those shoes. I cannot look away but I want to run away from them. I think I need them.

The whole Lochte thing is really bizarre.

Go close the window; it is raining here.

      • Sixer says:

It is bizarre. As is Sixlet Major’s interest. Ho hum. Roll on September and school.

I don’t think I need the shoes! But they are mesmerising. Someone MADE them and believed someone else would BUY them. If not for Build-a-Bear, then for what?!

      • shelly says:

Imagine if you kicked someone up the arse while wearing the unicorn shoes.

You could puncture their colon !!

      • Bonzo says:

Sixer, out of curiosity, how long is the Sixlet’s summer break? Do they get the standard 3 months like we do?

Living in Boston, school started after Labor Day and ended in mid–late June depending on the number of snow days they had. Here, it starts mid-Aug and ends just before the last weekend in May. I like that much better. I’m finally back to my school routine starting today… woot woot!

      • lilacflowers says:

I liked some of the other, less embellished shoes but I’m really into shoes.

@Bonzo, here many districts start in August now but they’re still going mid-to-late June, depending on the amount of snow.

      • Sixer says:

Bonzo – our kids get 6 weeks in the summer. Last week of July, all of August, first week of September. Our elementary school and high school year is 38 weeks. 2-3 weeks off at Christmas; 2-3 weeks off at Easter; 3×1 weeks off for half terms; 6 weeks off in the summer.

      • Bonzo says:

My bff lives in Indiana and her high schooler now has just two months off in the summer. I kinda like having more time off during the school year and less in the summer. It’s so hard for the kiddos to get back into the routine of things and they forget core skills like long division and their multiplication tables unless I set aside time during break to go over it with them. Which is what I did a few times a week to give them some sort of structure in our loosy-goosy schedule.

      • Sixer says:

Problem with it for us, Bonzo, is that the 6 week summer break is relatively short. Therefore vacation prices shoot up (50% cost penalty and sometimes more) for those six weeks because there is such a pressure of families booking. We get fined if we take kids out of school in term time. The half term weeks are also difficult to cover for working parents.

      • Bonzo says:

Yeah, that would be a downside. We tend to do cheap vacays using airline miles to see family or going camping so it doesn’t impact us quite as much.

Since our finances are tight, we try to maintain as much of a stress-free lifestyle (no overtime at work, extracurricular activities kept to a minimum) so we’re not stressed out by life and “needing” a vacation per se. It’s more a change in our normal routine and something different for us all to look forward to.

    • Liberty says:

I sneak peeked at the shoes. They are perfect, and I salute you.

    • LizLemonGotMarried says:

OMG, I made the mistake of clicking on the link. Now I’m surfing through this website and I can’t believe people would pay good money for this.

      • Dippit says:

Some are far less in your face, honest.

I have Ladybug, Tape Measure, and Abigails’ Party – variations of. Also I have a very plain black pair which are only slightly unusual at the heel.

So they’re not all swans and the like.

      • LizLemonGotMarried says:

I’ve found a couple I liked after some digging, but the unicorns and swans just hit me in the face. I also sent the star wars section to my best friend-I think she needs a couple of pairs of those.

    • Dippit says:

Wow – I’ve got four pairs of Irregular Choice shoes, but none quite so as embellished as those.

I think they’ve realised they had to pull back on the “togetherness” but the contract requires that there’s still enough ‘hints’ of “togetherness” to maintain this ‘coupling’.

For all I think there are some crazy fans – I think some of the *apparently* “crazy fans” doing plane tracking and the like are actually Taylor’s paid shill accounts she uses to disseminate information when it suits her. It’s just a different form of “sources” to the tabloids in order to keep TayTo in the public consciousness – real ‘relationship’ or not.

Taylor has a PR (including many sock-puppets) machine like no other ever before – she feeds off the attention and is the most calculated operator of them all.

Sorry Sixer, ‘Build a Bear’ will only happen if Taylor buys the company, closes every branch bar one, then closes it immediately after ‘the proposal’ so hers is the last ever.

  8. Sixer says:

    They ARE NOT Tiddlesbanging!

Tiddlesbanging involves ludicrous photo opportunities. If there are no ludicrous photos, there is no Tiddlesbanging.

    Now they’re just banging. Yawn.

  9. A says:

People who track her planes say her parents flew back to Nashville when Tom was on his way to Rhode Island. Taylor’s current publicist uses People to get information out there and her parents weren’t mentioned in that report

    • browniecakes says:

I kind of don’t believe her parents were involved in this visit. I think it was a romantic catch up. She may be trying to sweeten her image and including the folks makes it look less like a two night booty call.

  10. Sue says:

There is no evidence they’ve been together. He flew back to Oz on 16/8or 17/8 and she is in Nashville based on fan photos on IG. So at least we know she’s not with him right now. But there are some rumors that his departure from LA on 8/13 and arrival on 8/16 were both staged. The plane should be a private one, flight plan matches the moves of TS jets but the plane wasn’t hers…who knows what kind of game is this. Maybe TH was getting some long beauty sleep from Sat. till Tue/We and remained locked in his hotel room 😉 We have to endure them 5 weeks. They will remain low key until 8/29 and after voting clodure we will see what will happen next I think

    • jaii says:

I think people got confused because one photo showed Tom walking past a plane with a diff tail number, however if you look at the plane Tom actually stepped off its Tays.. I was confused too, but a Tom blog on tumblr explained it

      http://nobsdominion.tumblr.com/post/149087564894/saney-i-know-very-little-about-taylors-jet-info

    • Luca76 says:

Sorry but it cracks me up when people use words like evidence and examine paparazzi video like its forensics in a murder trail. Sure it’s possible that they put together an elaborate hoax that cost nearly 100 grand in private jet fees just to fake a meeting. That makes a lot of sense.

      • shelly says:

Ha ha the desperation is strong, some folk can’t handle Tommyanne shagging a woman who isn’t them.

Taylor Swift has seen him naked, get over it.

      • Grace says:

@shelly She is nuts if she hasn’t at least ‘sampled the goods’ after all that trouble and ridicule.

      • jaii says:

If i’m honest i worry about some of them, the way i see it if your putting so much effort in, and getting so worked up over proving who Tom isn’t shagging, or who Taylor really is then you need to take a step back, and go outside, and live a little. I’ve never seen so many women on Twitter/Tumblr fight so much before about where a man shoves his d**k for gods sake.

      • Dippit says:

Shelly, Grace – they both come across as so sexless to me, that even *if* goods have been sampled I can’t imagine it worth his Tumblr ‘girlfriends’ fretting over.

      • Becky says:

I read a tumblr post that the plane pics had been faked. Everything adds up though, except the date error on the photos from Tues (of Tom arriving in LA). It looks like the photos were uploaded before they were taken, but that just looks like an error on the website.

      • The DEEEH says:

Luca you should read the Kaylor blog, and then you’d know that Taylor has flown out to stage photos with Calvin on new years eve, and then flown home like half an hour later, before midnight. She has more money than you can imagine, and no problem spending it to fake her life. Girlfriend is on a whole ‘nother level. Gone girl, level.

  11. Aussieboy says:

Why do y’all like an accent so much? Trust me….it doesn’t automatically mean ‘Intelligence and charm’. Something tells me This guy would be a terrible novice in the bedroom. Earnest and annoying.

    • kaiko says:

We know, we know…it’s just that sometimes that macho man thing gets soooo annoying. Enter the earnestly effeminate Etonian Hiddleston and BAM–we swoon! Those pale legs, that enormous aristocratic foreheard *sigh* Makes us melt in our mojitos 😉

    • Abby_J says:

I am one of those boring people from the US that has no accent, really. I grew up a Navy brat, lived everywhere in the US and some places outside of the US, but not long enough to develop any sort of accent. I don’t have a Southern accent (although there are some words that I use because my father is from Texas), no cute Northern accent, and no Midwest accent. I’m just normal and boring.

Maybe this is why I could listen to someone with an accent all day. I’m not picky either. Any accent will do, and it doesn’t matter if it is male or female. The Olympics is a joy for me. So many different accents!

That said, I’ve never really ‘fallen’ for someone because of their accent, and I certainly don’t equate it to anything other than “you have an accent!”

I honestly can’t decide how I think Tom would be in bed, but I don’t spend too much time thinking about it. Accent or not. 🙂

      • spidey says:

@ Abby – everyone has an accent. It may be mixed up in cases like yours but I would guess a lot of people would say “oh you are an American”

      • Abby_J says:

I suppose that is a good point! Any international country that we’ve been stationed in, with my parents or my husband, people could peg us as Americans before we even opened our mouths, so I’ve never really thought about it.

    • WhatTheHell? says:

Imagine Tom saying *sorry* a lot while he’s doing it.

    • Starkiller says:

I personally couldn’t give less of a toss about accents, but if I had to guess, it’s because American accents are really unpleasant, and those of us who live here have to listen to them all day, every day.

      • Dippit says:

I have certain accents I prefer over others (Celtic origin and Italian), however I don’t dislike, or find unpleasant, American accents as such.

I think, over all, I will default always to Katharine Hepburn’s… but, perhaps, that’s merely because I default towards her in many ways anyway.

      • Sixer says:

See, I don’t much like the Britisher poshie accent but I like all the regional ones. Likewise, I don’t much like standard American but I like all the regional accents – although, that said, there have been some discussions on here about the niceties of American regional accents that have made me realise my ear isn’t that good!

      • Dippit says:

Scouser hurts my ears Sixer. Sorry.

I’ve been told that I’m a bit Maggie Smith, Jean Brodie, but with a husk and slight Highland’s lilt to soften the crispness.

Many Irish accents (in a guy) make me somewhat swoon, however.

      • lilacflowers says:

@Dippit, I took a boat ride this morning to one of the islands in Boston Harbor Islands National Park and the guide on the boat had the strongest Irish accent I’ve ever heard. I fear you would have fallen off the boat.

      • spidey says:

@ Sixer “See, I don’t much like the Britisher poshie accent” I would never have guessed!! 😆

I have lived in the Midlands since I was a baby but was born in Lancashire. People have often said they can hear some of that in my speech – no doubt picked up from my parents. And I do say anty and not arnty!

The Liverpool accent always make me think “get your adenoids fixed” But I live a soft Scottish Islands (?) or Irish accent.

      • Sixer says:

spidey – my accent is a mix of poshie and old-style London. The Sixlets now speak West Country, which is weird to hear. They say aaaaaaaauntie! And the children of all my still-in-London relatives now speak MLE so also entirely different from their parents and grandparents. I’m fascinated by the rise in MLE.

I think Geordie has to be my favourite. Or Glaswegian.

      • spidey says:

I have great trouble understanding the Geordie accents 😳 Someone once described Glaswegian as akin to spitting tacks!

      • Sixer says:

That’s why I like the ol’ Glaswegian. It’s tough and sharp and staccato! You have to work to keep up with it.

      • Dippit says:

Sixer – my daughter is studying in Glasgow and has developed a bit of a Weedgie twang. The differing islands (groups of) have differing accents, the Shetlands being very different from some of the Western Isles – I like a Western Highlands/Islands lilt. I’m East Low Highlands by birth – huntin’, fishin’, and shootin’ territory.

Lilac – had I fallen overboard perhaps he would’ve had to have given me the kiss of life with his gorgeous brogue speaking mouth. Worth getting wet for perhaps.

      • Sixer says:

Dippit – I love all non-standard accents and it’s amazing how quickly kids pick them up. Pay attention hereabouts because it sometimes comes up and you can get schooled on the American ones. I hear regional variation in American accents much, much better for conversations I’ve had on here.

  12. browniecakes says:

Emmy’s are a month out. Time will tell. Then she’s got a commitment in Oct. When does Infinity War begin shooting in Atlanta? That’s close to her.

    • browniecakes says:

Nov. 2016 starts principle photography on Marvel’s Infinity War in Atlanta. So Tom (and the Ragnarok cast that survive that film) could potentially be filming two Marvel movies back to back.

  13. Snowflake says:

I bet they get married. IMO. 🙂

    • AlleyCat says:

You’re nuts if you think Taylor wouldn’t give every detail imaginable to the world if she gets married/has kids! Those pesky camera phones will document every detail and people magazine will magically get ahold of them.

      • Cecilia says:

Yes agreed – she’d share every darn thing. With the exception of one little detail that she won’t share with the world – the terms of the prenup or the fact that one even exists.

  14. saltandpepper says:

Good luck to them, I hope it works out. She’s proven to be gracious in handling the media frenzy, her support for those in need and keeping her chin up. They are a match and long may it last.

    • MI6 says:

“Gracious in handling the media frenzy” ?
Surely you don’t mean Taylor Swift. She completely manipulates the media.

      • Grace says:

She can use some good PR now, but let’s not criticise her for donating a lot of money to help people in need. Although, I probably would have said generous rather than gracious.

      • MI6 says:

@Grace: who said anything about that? Have another cup of Kool Aid.

      • Grace says:

        What is Kool Aid?

      • Nicole says:

        lol gracious? ok then

      • saltandpepper says:

@M16 I simply meant that they have managed to stay out of the limelight (much to his favor) after the severe backlash to their antics on RI and the 4th of July, which I thought was horrible too. She could have like you say kept on manipulating the media but they wisely chose not to.

Now their relationship and whereabouts remain private for now and that’s good for their relationship, his career and her image, as I believe their coupling is real.

The scary people tracking her plane are drinking the Kool Aid. The rest of us are expressing opinions.

      • Bonzo says:

The reason they’re staying out of the limelight is that it would undermine their PR strategy of recovering from the damage of the past two months. They didn’t “manage” to stay out of the spotlight. It was necessary to try and manage the negative perceptions that people have of them.

Simple fact is she wanted the entire world to know her and Tom were a couple and made sure she usurped the headlines for a few weeks, but arranging the pap shots and going out in public spaces together. When it was clear the whole scheme backfired and she got clapped back from Calvin and Kim causing her image to take a nosedive, she made sure to stay out of the spotlight. It’s called damage control.

Now, with Tom campaigning for his Emmy and attempting to recover his prior image as a serious, mature actor, he back to keeping his private life private. That’s the strategy he needs to employ and she has to go along with it too if she wants people to stop mocking and criticizing them as a couple.

This has nothing to do with them actually wanting to keep their relationship out of the headlines, it’s a necessity after the cockup of the initial rollout.

      • saltandpepper says:

Okay everyone, I surrender, you’re right. Let’s flame the shiz out of these people we don’t even know or who wouldn’t even give us a passing glance. And @Nicole I think ‘gracious’ is a good word. I think the fact that Taylor Swift has donated more money than most people will ever earn in their lifetime to a good cause makes her an amazing and thoughtful person. She didn’t have to do that, you know? Made me reflect on my life and what I’m giving back.

      • MI6 says:

        @ Bonzo: Bingo. Exactly.
@ S&P: so throw money at it and it’s all better. I’m happy for your introspection, but that’s a big ball of Nope. It’s called spin, even if it DOES help those who need it.
True altruism is done the way Prince did it…no one found out the extent of his giving until after he was gone.

      • Nicole says:

@MI6 I agree. Prince gave a ton throughout his life without people hearing a word about it. Beyonce and Jay-Z donated privately to BLM causes which only came out after the fact. Angelina does talks about many issues and travels constantly to different countries and minus a photo or two we only find out after the fact. Jlaw visits hospitals yearly without cameras and donated a new hospital wing. Christian Bale went to Aurora right after the shooting and no one knew for days. THAT is altruistic giving.

Taylor gives which is great but does so publicly and loudly. She does Swiftmas to court her fans and anytime she does something nice we hear about it immediately from her and a instagram collage. It is cool that she gives but she doesn’t get a pat on the back for also using it as a constant PR spin. Esp when other celebs manage to do the same with minimal to zero coverage.

      • Jess says:

        @Nicole
Um, you have no idea if Swift gives privately. We already know she quietly donated $250,000 to Kesha to help fund her legal fees and we only found out about that because Kesha’s mom announced it herself. TBH the constant nit-picking and overreaction to everything she does is getting really out of control. God forbid someone make a large public donation to a issue that is being completely ignored by the media. That b*tch, how dare she raise awareness! /s.

        @saltandpepper
Don’t listen to them, I totally get what you’re saying and I 100% agree with you. TS has always done this kind of thing and she has a very long history of donating money. Although she can be very problematic, she has a excellent track record when it comes to her philanthropy work.

        Grace,
Kool-Aid is a super-sweet, artificially flavored drink marketed for children in the U.S. When people mention “drink the Kool-aid” they’re referring to the Jonestown massacre where a cult leader inspired his followers to commit mass suicide (and murder, as children were first killed) by drinking poisoned Kool-Aid. The expression has been watered down over time, though, so it’s not likely that you were being accused of murderous cult-like behavior.

  15. grabbyhands says:

Tracking planes seems deep level weird.

Having said that-interesting that she’s headed to Nashville. I wonder if this is Stage Two of “Getting Back to my Country Roots to Prove I’m Just a Regular Girl”-since she’s still sporting the casual look, is the next step a country music album? Maybe a duet with Tom on a Hank Williams song?

    Nothing would surprise me.

  16. Yellowrose says:

My prediction still stands: this is Custer’s last stand, and the 18th September will see Tay Tay on TH’s arm at the Emmys sporting a large engagement ring. They’ve both come to the same conclusion: as they can’t come out, they may as well just nail the closet flag to the mast, have a big splashy wedding, a kid or two, and six or seven years later part quietly figuring they’ve done their duty by their images and their genetic lines and have done with it.

  17. lizzie says:

maybe he was told by marvel to leave his girlfriend home. they run a very very tight ship and he is not even in on the top of their roster. i’m sure they decide who gets to hang around on set – not taylor.

    • lilacflowers says:

There is absolutely no indication, other than fan fiction, that she was anywhere near the set.

      • lizzie says:

the last line in this article is – “So it doesn’t look like Taylor is going to follow Tom back to Australia any time soon. Hm”

my point is that maybe she isn’t flying back and forth to australia with him all the time is b/c there is no point – since they won’t be able spend any time together. i don’t think is suspicious at all.

      • Luca76 says:

Agree lilacflowers its highly unlikely she was ever on set. I just think she came in the beginning of the shoot realized there was literally nothing she could do in Australia but sit in a hotel room while TH worked 10-15 hour days and decided to go back to her mansions and life stateside.

      • jaii says:

lilacflowers is the master of fact over fiction, sadly not enough people online care about facts unless it fits the agenda they are peddling 🙂

      • Nicole says:

Yea she was never on set and i doubt they would’ve allowed it

      • Abby_J says:

Awwwww Lilacflowers! I didn’t know you were reading my fan fiction!

I can’t imagine why you’d want to even BE on the set if you weren’t supposed to be. I mean, what is she going to do? Make suggestions on which side is Tom’s best side? Try everything at the food table?

Sitting in his trailer waiting to see him between takes, maybe, but she could sit around and wait for him in a comfortable hotel suite with room service, which is what I suspect she was doing.

      • PaschaP says:

IA. If she was anywhere near that set, she would’ve immediately gone into ‘Instagram this moment, or it didn’t happen’ mode in the behind the scenes makeup room w/ whatever Marvel actor/actress was willing to instaPReen with her.

If she still wanted to troll for PR (prior to Kimye-gate) she could’ve leapt onto Loki’s lap, and recreated that infamous Ryan Reynold’s 4th of July pic with Thor and Elsa Pataky.

      • Liberty says:

Agree, lilac flowers — fan fiction seems to be taking precedence over the facts.

    • A says:

They’re shooting on location in Brisbane this week, which means very long working days for Tom. No reason for Taylor to go and sit in a hotel room by herself.

  18. Miss B says:

Yuck. YUCK. I was such a huge Hiddelson fan! now every time I see him I picture his stupid “I 💜 TS” shirt. I’ll still watch the Marvel movies because I like them, but I can’t imagine intentionally watching him in anything else again.

He’s not bright enough to manipulate PR situation. He probably does adore her because she is smart , manipulative and camp.I think if TAy Tay wants a ring, she will get it.
I also think he is a closet case. Poor chap needs saving and looking after by a nice sensible older gent, Stephen fry would be perfect.

    • Dippit says:

Stephen Fry is taken now though.

One of my closest friend’s husband is Eton educated (got subsequently sent down from Oxford – scandalous story). Anyway, she is also all-girls’ public school educated – no higher education afterwards because of a scandalous first marriage.

They’ve been married for 30+ years and yet he says to this day “I think I’m straight but I doubt I can ever be sure because of Eton”… both he and she are companionable in a somewhat (did produce two children) sexless marriage where my friend tolerates his “waftiness”. He doesn’t have affairs (with either gender)… he just doesn’t really care about that sort of thing.

I think many of the public school educated are of that persuasion too.

An arrangement with an equally disinterested other bod of the opposite sex suits and can work. Perhaps that’s TayTo – as she is merely all about the appearance of ‘sexy’ rather than convincingly being sexy.

      • MI6 says:

That sounds truly depressing. AND a lot like my first marriage. Which, for obvious reasons, didn’t work out.

      • Dippit says:

MI6 – it does rather in the wider scheme (for most peoples’ reckoning) of things, yet for them it’s well within the bounds of ‘typical’ as they have been raised/bred to know it. Both branches of their antecedents were of much the same arrangement(s).

They are comfortable in such companionship.

One of my sides (distaff) ran away with the gardener’s son, and my paternal side is even more convoluted involving an Irish upstairs’ maid. Otherwise my antecedents may have led to me to as much the same. I think lots of Celtic passion in my forebearers saved me from a similar fate.

    • spidey says:

Thick as mince doesn’t get you a Cambridge 1st, and I doubt the accent is fake. But naive is perhaps a more accurate word or too trusting if you want two.

And Stephen Fry prefers them younger than Tom.

      • Dippit says:

Oxbridge, there is a big difference between being a ‘bright young thing’ and really bright – and it was Classics afterall.

      • spidey says:

So you could have done it? I know I couldn’t.

      • Dippit says:

I was up at the other place Spidey. Not Classics – although I do have some education in that direction in formative years.

Truly, I don’t mean to be snide, nor devalue his achievements per se, I merely know not to take them for more than they ought to be taken – in context.

AND, I would say the same of exit (similar award) in my own field of study. Plenty of those, now prominent figures, have the trappings of smart without necessarily the real wherewithal.

      • Sixer says:

As my grandmother used to say – they’re very good at polishing turds in those places.

(Not calling LEGS a turd particularly. But they will make whatever you’ve got look better than it otherwise would.)

      • Dippit says:

Haha Sixer, your grandmother was/is pithy – in many ways I remain resolutely unpolished, yet never not grateful for some aspects of the advantage(s) I have been given (worked for too).

I think, sometimes, having spent time within the prism, it is possible to understand the sheen it gives off, yet see the unvarnished reality too.

      • spidey says:

@ dippit – can you explain exit to me?

@ Sixer – that conjures horrible pictures in the mind!

But it does remind me of something my Italian teacher told us re the difference between merda and stronzo

“It’s a matter of consistency! Yuk

      • Lilacflowers says:

Can we please not put down chosen fields of study? People study what they like or what they think will provide them a career. Not choosing to be a neurosurgeon or rocket scientist doesn’t mean a person isn’t smart enough to be a brain surgeon or rocket scientist. And I’ve known rocket scientists who cannot put a sentence together.

      • Dippit says:

Spidey – when you exit/pass an undergraduate course of study in England and Wales (the system differs in Scotland – which involves an extra year for exit to be classified as Honours over Ordinary degree) you are given an Award (if Honours) ranging from Thirds through to variations of Second Class and First Class degree awards.

Further Oxbridge (it has its own differing variations in some ways re accreditation) has a fairly rigorous threshold. – some Viva [Voce] (an additional oral examination if on the borderline to be considered for a First in any which way). Others may also Viva.

As I said, I do not dismiss his achievement, merely don’t rate it as the trump card to an assumption of terribly great “smarts” or unquestionable “intellect”.

Even in those hallowed halls and under gleaming spires, much (very much) is affected or made all the easier to assume as a cloak.

/not an exhaustive explanation of the various differences between the multitude of HE institutions and the degrees they award.

/Also other key areas of study: Medicine, Dentistry, etc vary too.

      • spidey says:

Thanks Dippit, I’ve never heard the word exit used before, only the degree class – 3rd, 2.2,2.1 or 1st.

I only got O levels then unfortunately was ill for a while then I went to work. Got my first A level 40 years later!

      • Dippit says:

Spidey- don’t use “only” in there re: ‘O-Levels’. ALL well engaged with/and well delivered education has a great deal of intrinsic value in and of itself – at whatever level. AND to return, non-standard, in later life for a furthering of your formal qualifications takes a great deal of mettle. Never undervalue that. Props.

And never undervalue just downright honest work undertaken in the meantime.

To some extent I have a flip-reverse in that, whilst educated well early, an increasingly debilitating illness has limited the scope for my work and other choices as I have oldened. At this point in time I am not working, and when I am able, have to be selective about both the paid (and voluntary) work to which I commit. I am fortunate to have that luxury financially.

        But never say “only”.

@Lilac, perhaps I seemed too dismissive of Classics; I am not. I hope you were able to better understand my position from further posts.

      • Sixer says:

Lilac – it’s not so much that Dippit was putting down Classics as easy. Subject choice for Oxbridge is, as ever in Britland, manipulated by the public school system and class. Classics and theology are two of the subjects it’s easier to get into Oxbridge to do, so these are the courses that public schools encourage their borderline students to apply for.

Whereas, say, PPE, any of the hard sciences, medicine, etc, are much, much more difficult to get in for.

(Again, not implying LEGS is a duffer. Just that his degree subject is one that the duffers from public schools often choose. And the people who know Oxbridge inside out, aka the poshies, all know this.)

BTW – spidey rocks for her curiosity and forays into late-life education and autodidactism.

      • Sixer says:

Dippit – I loved this in the FT, written shortly after the Brexit vote. The subtext is very much the superficiality of intellect you’re talking about. Lots of words. Good at debating. Follow through? Deep understanding? Not so much.

        https://www.ft.com/content/f4dedd92-43c7-11e6-b22f-79eb4891c97d

      • Dippit says:

Sixer – yes, read at the time, and just so. You explained to Lilac far better than I. Thank you.

I maintain a dirty/guilty pleasure at my many ways to sneak (and read) behind the pay-wall 😀

      • lilacflowers says:

@Sixer, thanks for the explanation of across the pond differences. My objection was based on an earlier thread where this topic was raised and several people, Americans, went off on studying languages as gut (easy) majors for those who aren’t really all that smart as opposed to STEM, where the really smart people are. My undergrad degree was in modern languages and I know what my intelligence level is. I would like to avoid those cliches, especially as I’ve traveled through several countries with science majors who couldn’t make themselves understood well enough to ask directions or order food. I have rather comical memories of a microbiologist friend panicking because she couldn’t communicate that she needed a ladies room desperately when we were on a Greek island.

@Dippit, I do hope that your health improves.

      • Dippit says:

If it helps Lilac, my undergrad wasn’t STEM and I’ve never considered Modern Languages “soft”.

Sixer best explained the Classics dynamic re: public school —> Oxbridge.

And thank you for your best wishes – it’s a thing I’m stuck with, of late the worst of it has been particularly present. I have new meds, added to the usual cocktail, to take time to adjust to. It is what it is. I resent the limitations it places on me, but such is life. I make the most of the better moments and rely on many to assist me in managing the worst of times.

        Ce sera 🙂

      • lilacflowers says:

@Dippit, here in the US, the study of languages is very often discouraged. School districts usually offer only one or two options and those departments are usually underfunded. Unless one grows up in a bilingual family, the average American has little knowledge of other languages. Those who do study in school rarely have more than a two year course, usually in Spanish, and never reach a level of competency in reading or speaking. Computer languages are allowed to count as “language” for university language entrance requirements when there are any. Kids are encouraged to pursue more “useful” areas of study like business courses in marketing or accounting, because being able to communicate with the rest of the world isn’t useful, I guess. Our intelligence gathering in certain parts of the world, areas where we really need to understand what is happening, is hampered by our lack of language experts.

I had the opportunity as a teen to spend several months attending school in Germany, even though I didn’t speak a word of German when I went over there. When I returned, my math class here was being taught in Spanish, because the majority of my classmates and the teacher were Spanish speaking.

      • Sixer says:

Lilac – modern languages certainly aren’t considered soft subjects here. Oxbridge aside, we’re inclined to see vocational subjects such as business studies as soft subjects over academic ones – but that’s mostly because the older universities don’t offer them. When you delve into ANYTHING in Britland, you can usually find snobbery behind it!

But Classics is genuinely known as a soft subject at Oxbridge. Behind it really, is that state schools rarely offer both Latin AND Classical Greek to A level standard, so the public schools can basically monopolise all the Oxbridge Classics places because they make sure they do. That’s why they encourage their duffers into it.

      • Bonzo says:

Just here to say, how much I love this site for the cultural knowledge I gain. I had no idea how classics were perceived within the Oxbridge system.

    • spidey says:

Hey, thank you ladies for your comments – very flattering.

I have to say my Latin O level was my best (and top) grade, so perhaps I could have studied it at UNI too. i actually enjoyed the subject – perhaps Tom did too.

Sorry to hear about your health issues Dippit that’s rotten for you.

    • Camille says:

Tessa you summed him up nicely lol :).

    • Cranberry says:

      @Tessa
So TayTay is smart and Hiddles is thick as mince. What planet are you on? Just because her management know how to play the PR game doesn’t maker her smart. And just because he’s not good at selling this contrived PR-ship doesn’t make him thick. It actually speaks more to his sense of honesty. He was poorly advised and made a bad decision that put him in a playing field that does not suit his sensibilities.

If all he was looking for was a beard, that could have easily been achieved long ago. He didn’t need to be mismatched with the most famous celebrity in the world to accomplish that.

  23. TreadStyle says:

Well giving the full details of a “private” weekend to magazines seems like the same game to me. Low key, bc they released the details after the fact I suppose. At least hold back something to make it seem not intentionally leaked sheesh. They think no pictures=low key.

  24. spidey says:

OK I’ll take of my sensible hat again and throw this one in – perhaps she summonsed him to RI to dump him, then could hardly not let him fly back in the private jet.

    • Dippit says:

Nah, I still say fake but bedded down for the long haul.

However, I said “PR Crisis Talks” yesterday and, still, rather suspect that much time spent on RI was poring over public responses and formulating further strategy to counteract the great deal of negativity surrounding their ‘relationship’.

      • Beach girl says:

I posted something similar. This was a pr pow wow, a continuation of assessing their damage control efforts which is why there were so many stories leaked afterwards. It must be difficult for someone like her to remain out of the spotlight for so long and another reason for the leaks. Yes their still in it, just a different and much needed new tactic right now.

  25. A.Key says:

Does she have a life outside of the media? She’s like those annoying people who post everything on facebook, “I just had lunch – mashed potates and salad!”, “I just got home, watching telly”, “Enjoying the evening with my boy”, etc, etc etc. Except that she’s using newspapers the way people use facebook these days. It amazes me that folks never realize how absurd and ridiculous this is.
Who makes a statement to the media about the fact that they saw their partner over the weekend!? What next, she’ll give out statements about her bowel movements and dreams and doctor’s appointments?

  26. TOPgirl says:

I hope they get married. They are so cute together and I think he is going to be a good man in her life. I don’t care what everything thinks of their relationship because I think this is the first time that she has a real man in her life.

    • PatriotsPower27 says:

@TOPGIRL That’s what I’ve been thinking all along but everytime I read the comments on CB article re: Tiddles, I start feeling otherwise. I’ve openly stated I am no Swifty fan and everything I know about Tom is from here but it seems people are really out to get her here and I can’t figure it out. She’s calculated, controlling, cares about her image, and wants to show only her pleasant side to be a good role model to her fans. So she writes songs about her relationship — similar to every other artist. What’s so wrong about that?
Tom seems legimately like a decent dude, appears to care about her, loves his work, and always gives good interviews. Again, how is that crazy?
It seems her team was asked if Tom was in RI with her and she didn’t lie or play coy but admitted to it. I guess I’m too naive and gullible.

      • sarahd says:

This is our society these days. Anyone with a teenage daughter or a teacher probably sees it. I thought it ended after high school, but clearly it doesn’t.

      • Capella says:

@PatriotsPower27-I agree and I must be too naïve and gullible as well. Musician/songwriters write about their personal experiences and a high percentage are about their love life (it’s what inspires them!) – we just don’t know who they are writing about because they aren’t famous as well … for example, who inspired Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep” lyrics?? Do we care and do we judge her for writing about her experience?

      • Dara says:

Before Hiddleswift, I knew very little of Taylor and I too didn’t see all the fuss about her using her personal life as fodder for her songwriting, everyone does it. No big deal right? But after taking a closer look (which I regret like you cannot believe) I think Taylor actually goes out of her way to drop enough breadcrumbs and not-so-subtle hints that her fans, and in some cases the press, figure out exactly who each of her songs is about – and it most of the time it’s not a flattering story. It would be one thing if it were a rare song here or there, but it’s a significant chunk of her songbook at this point.

I realize her lack of maturity probably contributed to a lot this early in her career, and I hope she grows out of it because it’s unbecoming in anyone over the age of 15. To be clear, I don’t judge her for harshly for using her own experiences, I judge her for airing her dirty laundry and scorn in public. It’s mean, petty and lacking in class, which aren’t exactly attributes I would look for in a role model for young girls.

      • Original T.C. says:

        @Capella
The difference between Adele vs. Taylor’s song writing as you have stated is that Adele’s style uses class and general ethics, Taylor does not. Other artist through out history do not literally SPELL out the name of the person their negative songs are about in song books. Apart from being sued, it’s just mean.

But I’m sure you would be completely OK with an ex-husband or ex-BF telling the world your name and how much a B. I.T.C.H. you are for breaking up with them. Played on the radio 24/7, for the remainder of your life. Or your new BF’s ex calling you a S.L.U.T. in a song for your boss, parents, family, co-workers to play on loop. Right?

I love how Swifty apologists hit the roof with anger on the rumor that Calvin Norris had written a breakup song about her in Taylor’s classic blind item petty style. It’s OK for Taylor to do it but not for it to be done to HER! Hmm…

      • sarahd says:

Choosing a role model for our girls from the girl pop stars is like choosing which politician you will vote for. You may need to pick the best of all the unfavorables.

      • Dippit says:

You may have a point SarahD, but Swift is the one I could least hold my nose to vote for as a role model – most particularly for the calculated manner in which she exploits image tropes (and her fans’ investment in her) to further her desire to be considered an unimpeachable role model. The reality is far less savoury behind her smoke and mirrors.

  27. browniecakes says:

Imagine if he didn’t see her and just came to LA, worked and went directly back to AU. Imagine the gossip headlines.

  28. spidey says:

As an aside – the Ben Hur that Tom didn’t do is currently 32% on Rotten Tomatoes.

    • sarahd says:

Been binge watching Tom HIddleston movies. Rewatched Avengers & Thor, then watched High Rise, Coriolanus, I Saw the Light, Crimson Peak, & Only Lovers Left Alive. I already saw Warhorse & NIght Manager. I am easy to please when it comes to Movies, but must say I liked them all very much except High Rise (which I disliked so much I only watched half of). He’s really convincing when he cries. Don’t know how someone can do that on command during a live stage production. Can’t wait to see more of him.

    • lilacflowers says:

Ben Hur is currently down to 29% on Rotten Tomatoes. Bullet dodged. Jack Huston has enough family clout (a lot of family clout. Hollywood royalty family clout) to survive. And I crack up laughing whenever I see Morgan Freeman in the trailer. He looks like his Lego Movie God character come to life.

I thought High Rise was fantastic. And I really enjoyed the commentary on the Blu-Ray with Tom, Ben, and Jeremy. Ben was really uncomfortable filming the balcony sex scene (he had never filmed on before) and was afraid Tom and Sienna would crash through the glass table and they kept laughing at him during the scene. He left the laughter in the film. And he was really uncomfortable with the orgy and the “entire salmon en croute” guy.

And Sarahd, he has been known to cry on request during interviews.

      • sarahd says:

I might have to give High Rise a second chance lol

      • spidey says:

High Rise is one I didn’t like either. It just seemed a directorially self indulgent mess to be honest.

i think Coriolanus was his best acting overall in a part. Although there were parts of The Hollow Crown that made the hair stand up on the back of my neck.

      • Bonzo says:

I too enjoyed Coriolanus and his Prince Hal. Outside of Shakespeare, OLLA was my favorite. I thought HR was a bit of a mess, but I thought his Laing was wonderful. I may be in the minority here, but I also liked his performance in Unrelated, his first feature film. I liked his Magnus too, though I wish the writers had developed his character more.

His Loki is the best thing about the otherwise boring Thor films.

      • lilacflowers says:

@Bonzo, OLLA is my favorite as well. And I liked his performance in Unrelated as well; I had other issues with that film. Magnus got the best lines when he wasn’t being ordered to answer the phone or search databases or fix Wallender’s email for him. Because murder is exhausting.

      • Cranberry says:

I liked High Rise. It had a few problems, but the performances and the cinematography were great. I really liked him as Laing. I think it’s a good lead role type for him. I’d like to see him do similar characters that explore more of the character’s personality. Prince Hal and Hank Williams are some of my favorite performances to watch. Bonzo, I liked Unrelated too. I also liked him in various scenes in Deep Blue Sea (esp. slow dancing kiss scene was yum), not the ones he’s throwing fits in.

Loki might be my favorite. He just wins your heart over in Thor, and he’s the most interesting part of Avengers. Btw I watched Avengers before Thor, and then decided to watch Thor cause of Loki and TH.

    • sarahd says:

Tom Hiddleston has me watching Shakespeare. Never knew what I was missing!

    • Matchday says:

And ISTL is currently at 21%, but please tell me how great TH’s performance is and how a movie’s rating doesn’t reflect on the actor.

      • Cranberry says:

Sure I’ll tell you. TH’s performance in ISTL was great as was EO’s, but since Tom’s roll was much more difficult, and he had to learn a tremendous amount in a rather short amount of time, his is the more impressive performance. There. I enjoyed watching him and the film regardless of it’s flaws. It was a small, intimate, experiential movie.

Sure, movie ratings CAN reflect on an actor. It really all depends. Plenty of very famous actors have had movies that weren’t received well by critics or didn’t make any $. As for Rotten Tomatoes, I’ve seen some crappy movies that had good reviews and decent RT ratings as well as the reverse. Suicide Squad has 26% RT, and that’s a muti-million $ movie with big star cast, a huge advert budget and built in fanbase. Go figure.

  29. Camille says:

    Yawn.

Yup. He does it for me too. I can concede that there’s other celebs that are more conventionally attractive or down right extremely good looking, but they just don’t do it for me, and it’s not because of his accent. If accents and perfect looks were all it took then I’d be fan-girling over Henry Cavil right now.

Hiddles just checks off a lot more boxes for me not just looks but also his expressions, personality, grace, intrigue, humor, fallibility, sincerity and more. Despite his mistakes and other cringe moments, he’s still may favorite internet boyfriend. Actually he’s my only IB. No one else interests me enough to bother.

      • sarahd says:

It certainly is his total package for me, as I seen him in War Horse and never thought much of him again. It was only after the barage of Taylor/Tom photos emerged where I clicked on a video of him dancing, and next some videos where he was interviewed, that I fell hard.

I’m listening to Joni Mitchell’s Blue, right now Case of You and TS is no Joni Mitchell or Carol King or Stevie Nicks. I listened to TS’s music a few weeks and they don’t interest me. At all. But I’ve been soooooo entertained by this whole Hiddles/Swift thing. So funny whether its real or not. I’m fascinated how her eyes always seek out the cameras. Ok back to Blue.

    • seesittellsit says:

Difference between art and shallow manufactured schlock. “Blue” is a fabulous album, there’s a reason it became iconic.

  31. Marian says:

“Went to the doctors today. They said I got a bad case of Swiddleton. They think it came from tiddlebanging over the weekend. So they gave me a wide spectrum antibiotic and an anti itch cream before it turns into Hiddleswift. You have to have surgery to get that removed.”

  32. browniecakes says:

Occurred to me that when he was in the US, he did the work part first and saw her after – rather than the other way around. Wonder who is pulling the strings now, Tom’s management?

      • Lilacflowers says:

Oh please, he would get a plus one to both those events no matter who he was dating.

        http://variety.com/2015/tv/news/primetime-emmy-ratings-down-1201598562/
The Emmy awards show had their worst ratings ever last year. I believe that Tom and Taylor would draw eyes to the show. (Does the BAFTA broadcast need TnT too?!)
The questions are; 1) can Ragnarok spare Tom, 2) is he willing to make that trek again (OJ has twice as many nominations) and the biggie 3) will they still be Tiddleswifting?!
Lilac – I have no idea why the reporter is so daft.

      • Bonzo says:

You think so, Brownie? You think there’s enough non-Emmy watchers who would tune in just to see Tiddles? I have my doubts their attendance would make a measurable difference in the Nielsens. His fandom is too small and hers is so young to sit through a long, boring awards show for a handful of glimpses of the couple.

They’re not the mega-power couple that The Sun tries to make them out to be. I do hope they finally give us some giggle-worthy fodder once again after going all stealth and boring the past month.

      • browniecakes says:

American TV stunts for ratings all the time. If they go, they will get plenty of camera time. If a non Emmy watcher tunes in they will probably catch a glimpse. I am trying to picture Taylor next to Hugh Laurie.

      • Cranberry says:

I agree with Bonzo here. I don’t think the Emmy organizers thinking that TnT will help their rating much with just a RC walk and a few audience shots on the TV. For a ratings bump they would have asked Taylor to present an award or category or a PSA announcement or something where they could put her square on stage and in front of the camera and, more importantly, announce her attendance in adverts.
Now if the Emmy organizers are still working out who’s going to be presenting, and Tom is being considered to present or has already been asked, maybe they are entertaining the idea of both of them onstage as an “it” couple presenting an award together. I surely hope that if this is being considered that Tom’s people shoot it down asap. I don’t think the Emmy people would find it a good fit anyway or worth the trouble, although award shows always have some really awkward TV moment that happens. TnT would surely be that. They’re a big deal in the celebrity gossip/sm world. They’re not considered an established “power couple” in HW or among mainstream TV audiences.

      • lilacflowers says:

I initially read that on while waiting for our restaurant table before dinner and an Aretha Franklin concert. Now that I have re-read it, it is even more ridiculous than my first view of it. “An awards insider?” An awards insider commenting on how Tom likes to keep his private life private but so wants to take his relationship with Taylor public? An Awards insider would know this? An awards insider would make a statement like this to a media outlet? And the red carpet shows and the Emmy broadcast itself are different shows and they pull different ratings. Having Taylor Swift walk a stupid red carpet (by the way, a red carpet is just a piece of rug and it is a work place for the actors and walking down it with someone does not make a relationship “official”) will do nothing for the ratings of the Emmy broadcast.

And that bit about BAFTA is even more ludicrous. They do something like that every year. And they would so want to invite her because she likes Downton Abbey? Who writes this crap?

      • MI6 says:

        This is beyond stupid.
I cannot imagine what’s left of his team would allow him to do this.
I am starting to think he’s socially challenged and just happy to have all the attention and a gf. Hopefully it will all wear off by Emmy time.

      • spidey says:

@ lilacflowers – is Anwards Insider any relation to Asource Closeto?

      • lilacflowers says:

@Spidey, I think Awards Insider and Asource Closeto may be dating but we won’t know until they make it “official” by walking a red carpet somewhere because you do know that even if they were married, if they don’t walk a red carpet somewhere, it is not “official.”

I also find it fascinating that Awards Insider knows the thoughts of both the Emmy producers AND the BAFTA party organizers and that anyone would believe this stuff.

      • WhatTheHell? says:

The Emmys are the sixth most popular awards show. The SIXTH. Tom is still a nominated nobody by HW rankings and Taylor has little to no influence on their viewership. Their attendance is not significant, unless they generate some press of their own. Which they very well may do.

I think if there’s an engagement, it will either be announced this weekend or on the RC. We’ll know that Tom has well and truly lost his mind if that happens.

  33. sarahd says:

This is my opinon: If you are nominated, the polite response is to show up if you can. It is an honor just to be nominated, and why miss the experience? Also, since the show has many other nominations, everyone on the show should be there to show their support for each other & their pride for a job well done, again if their schedule allows. And for Taylor coming, well if they are together & she is available, I would find it odd and unsupportive if she wasn’t there. Plus some great publicity – those two all dressed up and looking dapper!

    • browniecakes says:

Yes agreed. Brings up point though, I wonder why they don’t support each other on social media. Tom did the UNICEF post and Tay could have reposted and brought in allot of eyes for that cause, for instance.

    • browniecakes says:

it is an honor and I think only Ragnarok can keep him away.

      • Beach girl says:

He will go if possible. I had hopes that he would bring his father or mother, but @Bonzo is correct that ratings are down and the speculation around them would bring in her viewers at least for the RC. He’s probably not going to win but their appearance could steal some of the spotlight for awhile. They’re both still pretty thirsty.

      • spidey says:

Beachgirl I would very much doubt he would bring his father, who hasn’t been seen since the first Thor publicity.

  34. Browniecakes says:

Taylor won an Emmy in 2015. She was shocked too.

  35. Beach girl says:

@ Spidey. You’re right about his Dad, it was wishful thinking. His Dad introduced him to John LeCarre and I thought it would be sweet if he were there.

  36. Sue says:

It seems Taylor unfollowed Tom on IG today. His account isn’t listed among followed anymore 😉Hmmmm😏

    • sarahd says:

      really….that’s strange

Do you suppose the gossip gods looked favorably on an inadvertent animal sacrifice? I accidentally squished a squirrel on my commute home last night… and I may have been daydreaming about the eventual end of the Hiddleswift era at the time. Though I suppose it could just be a coincidence.

@SecretSquirrel, may I offer my heartfelt regret and condolences on the loss of a distant relative.

      • spidey says:

Me too. That is to browniecakes and SecretSquirrel on her loss. 😆

    • DT says:

He isnt following her anymore either….

      • spidey says:

Ooooooooooooh and he was seen out to dinner with, wait for it……………………a man yesterday!

But who has he replaced with, as he is still following 17

That our Tommy boy be restored to his former glory/sanity…

    • spidey says:

I told you – she summoned him to RI to tell him it was over, or give him an ultimatum – propose or you are out. And then for shame she couldn’t refuse to let him return to LA in same plane.

      • sarahd says:

Tom is following Taylor Swift but she is not following him

      • WhatTheHell? says:

I’ll believe they dplit when we have more than Insta unfollows. They may be just messing with us.

ETA: she may have been bored with his posts.

      • DT says:

sorry i was mistaken i didnt see her name when i scrolled through quickly. my bad 😕
