Another one of Jennifer Aniston’s old interviews presented as new

Jennifer Aniston has a cover story and maybe-new interview in Cosmopolitan UK’s June issue, which is out today. PopSugar UK has some advance quotes from the interview and it all seems pretty average for Aniston, but it also sounds familiar. It’s hard to tell if this article is entirely cobbled together from her old interviews, or if they have a few new sound bites from her and mix them in with old quotes for filler. I found her statement on “Friends” in earlier stories, and the stuff she said about relationships came out a couple months ago. Not all of these statements came up in Google searches, though. It’s also possible that Cosmo got these quotes from a press conference with Aniston that was also reported in other sources.

Aniston was positive but came across as realistic and down to earth as usual.

anistoninsetOn being realistic about relationships: “I don’t think a perfect relationship exists. But I do think that many of us think it does and we’re just fooling ourselves. Whoever said that everything has to be forever? That’s unrealistic or hoping for too much. I don’t think it’s worth all that pressure.”

On the importance of communication in relationships: “I think that every relationship is a world unto itself. The most important factor is communication. People often expect their partner to read their minds, and when that doesn’t happen, they get pretty upset. Then the other person gets even more upset and, at the end of the day, it’s all because they didn’t talk it over at the beginning.”

On life in the public eye: “I’m still baffled as to why people are so interested in my life. It’s so weird, even my dog Norman gets recognised – he’s famous. But I’m cutting him off, I’ve told him no more Oprah appearances! [Laughs] … It’s been horrendous at times. I have had to simply move through it and try to think positively. I don’t know if I’m a late bloomer, but I feel like everything is just beginning … I would say that this is the best moment of my life. I’ve never felt better – physically or professionally. I’m a very lucky woman, without a doubt.”

On the importance of friendship: “I really value my friends, and I feel lucky to have such good ones. I couldn’t live without them. I don’t understand how people can isolate themselves and not communicate with others. I believe in everlasting friends.”

On her costars from Friends: “I love them and we’re close, but we don’t see each other all the time … We have grand plans, like, ‘We’ll have dinner once a month.’ And then life happens, times change. It leaves me feeling sort of melancholy … They will always be my family whether we are in the same room and talking regularly or not. Something like [Friends] will never happen again and you have to acknowledge that. It was probably some of the greatest stuff I’ll get to do in my career, so anything that happens from this point is just a cherry on top of the cake. I’ve really had such a great time and the fact that I just get to keep working makes me feel really lucky.”

On what makes her smile: “Just hanging out. Sunsets make me happy, silly things make me happy. A nice bottle of wine with some good cheese makes me happy. Being in love makes me very happy. I love being in my home too. I’ve been working on my house for a year-and-a-half, which has been really fulfilling. I love cooking, going out to dinner, hiking, taking a road trip, watching movies…”

[From UK.PopSugar.com]

I first read excerpts from this “interview” in the Daily Mail, and they focused more on her quotes about relationships and didn’t include the cute parts about how she values her friendships and finds happiness in small things. That end part, about how she finds fulfillment in cooking, hiking and working on her house was kind of sweet, and I liked how she said that she couldn’t live without her good friends. It’s also nice to hear her credit Friends with some of the best experiences of her career. Aniston hasn’t made the best choices in relationships, but she does have a lot of friends and a great life.

She said most of this at least a couple of months ago, though. This is going to get re-circulated and people will roll their eyes, talk about how boring she is, and say she’s repeating herself. It’s pretty deceptive when magazines present old interviews from other sources as new. At least when we read the gossip it’s easier to tell what’s made up.

It is an old interview. She has a great bod and looks good. Never seen her looking less than good.

  2. Carl says:

Must be time to release a movie. Promotion-Promotion-Promotion. It makes her sicken. I’m so sick of her and her desperate over promoting.

  3. Jazz says:

I think these are old quotes, I’m sure I read most of them when Marley and Me came out. The “I don’t think a perfect relationship exists” quote came out just before she split with mayer.

  4. T says:

You can tell they never trust her weak movies making it on it’s owen merit.

  5. kap says:

I don’t think I have ever seen a picture where she looks bad. She always looks “put together”.

  9. sarcra says:

@Carl “Must be time to release a movie. Promotion-Promotion-Promotion.”

Yeah, that’s what ALL actors do. They’re pretty much required to promote their movies.

Heh – I just bought that magazine yesterday. I only gave her interview the briefest of skims because it did seem like the same ould trash rehashed and i did wonder if it was even new.

Although the interviewer’s comment at the beginning of the mag did say that she flew out to LA to interview her and that she always enjoys interviewing JA.
(If this IS a new interview I don’t blame her – a nice junket plus no write-up, that’s a sweet deal!)

  11. Cinderella says:

If those pics are from May, where were they taken? Who’s wearing a winter coat right now? It’s hot as hell outside.

  12. Amy says:

These are definately old quotes. I read most of them before. Also it was colder than usual in the northeast when the pictures were taken. But the coat and scarf is a little bit over the top.

Love jen, she is great, she has handles herself so well with all this crap going around. She is the smart one of the triangle!!
