Jessica Seinfeld in Dior at the Emmys: super-cute or terrible styling?

wenn29547519

While I wouldn’t ordinarily choose Jessica Seinfeld to be the “top” of a fashion post, I have noticed that people enjoy hating on Jessica, and I also noticed last night that there was a lot of nostalgia about Jerry Seinfeld being at the Emmys for the first time in nearly two decades. Apparently, Seinfeld hasn’t been to the Emmys since his show went off the air in the ‘90s. So he’s just been living it up in New York with hundreds of millions of dollars. And my God, Jessica Seinfeld is so smug about it. Anyway, Jessica wore this Dior dress. Usually, Dior will try to dress one of the biggest-name nominees at an awards show. This time, Dior only dressed one person, Jessica Seinfeld, the wife of a nominee. That’s how rich the Seinfelds are. While I think the Dior is sort of cute, Jessica Seinfeld ruins it with crappy styling.

And here are the kids from Stranger Things: Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo and Caleb McLaughlin. They walked the carpet together, they sang “Uptown Funk” together and they were just great kids together. Millie is something of a budding fashionista – she proudly ID’d her dress as Valentino Red. These kids are adorable.

She needs to darken her hair almost the same colour as her face.. I do like the dress. Those kids are very cute.

    • augustus says:

The dress might even look good if she would darken her hair. I don’t think I have ever seen someone do blonde so badly.

    • Doodle says:

Thinking the same thing. She looks terrible as a blonde.

      • Sabrine says:

If she likes being a blonde then that’s all that matters. It’s nobody else’s business what her hair color is. She’s a beautiful woman and the dress is gorgeous.

      • blue banana says:

but it looks awful. i actually really like this person, their story, what she’s done with her life since Jerry, her style. But the hair is just unnatural and awful. Her natural dark hair is SO flattering, she really must not see it.

      • Dinah says:

Yeah, she was a pretty lady with the dark hair and dark complexion. Blondes don’t have to have all the fun. In fact, many may agree fun isn’t a perk many blondes ever really get to enjoy.

    • Mrs. Wellen-Melon says:

The dress looks like a dance costume – the skirt comes off at some point in the routine.

Definitely, absolutely, positively darker hair. Rich chestnut hair, Mrs. Seinfeld. You are gorgeous.

    • MorningCoffee says:

She HAS dark hair. Why she thinks this blonde looks good on her, I will never understand.

      • blue banana says:

and this odd shade of YELLOW?? if you’re not going to go with your beautiful natural dark hair, can you at least choose a more natural, flattering darker blonde highlights?? anything!

    • enuff said says:

      Cute dress…but she’s a hot mess!

  2. jeanpierre says:

The kids are so élégant! Show them how it’s done kids!

  3. swak says:

Jessica Seinfeld doesn’t look like she wants to be there at all.

  4. lucy2 says:

The dress is cute. The hair color is not. I really dislike the Seinfelds.

    • Esmom says:

The Seinfelds really give off the most douchey, smug vibes. That hair color is terrible on her.

      • Little Darling says:

I read this piece about her/him and while they tried their damnedest to make her a sympathetic character, there is just something about the two of them, him especially, that is so very entitled. The part where the author says she’s from Vermont but has altered the way she speaks to lock her jaw like the upper NYC side socialites kind of says it all.

Whatever the case is, they’ve managed to have a very successful marriage despite the odds, and they both seem to still genuinely love each other and enjoy one another.

But personally, I simply can’t look at either one the same.

      • Kitten says:

I just don’t understand how she can be from Vermont.
She must have worked really hard to wipe any and all traces of that from her current persona because she is truly the antithesis of every salt-of-the-earth Vermontonian I’ve ever met.

      • Granger says:

So, I don’t think she’s actually from Vermont. IIRC, she was born in New York and moved to Vermont at one point. She did go to university there, however.

      • Esmom says:

LD, thanks for sharing that piece. It confirms my dislike for her.

      • Little Darling says:

Exactly. There was also a piece on the sadly defunct Gawker about them, and I remember thinking, these two are straight up aholes. There was also something about her plagiarizing recipes? Not sure if I remember that well. I also read a great think piece once about Jerry and how he started dating Shoshana when she was just 18.

        http://gawker.com/318817/everything-you-think-you-know-about-jessica-seinfeld-is-pretty-much-true

        http://defamer.gawker.com/remember-when-38-year-old-jerry-seinfeld-dated-a-17-yea-1714153938

Those three pieces really solidified my dislike for them. Big time.

        Also, I miss Gawker!

      • holly hobby says:

I do remember the scandal of how she left her hubby right after they came back from their honeymoon, because she met Jerry at the gym. Her hubby isn’t poor either. He’s a scion from the family that runs the Broadway theatres. They frankly deserve each other.

      • KBeth says:

Agreed, there is something off-putting about them. I might like her dress on someone else.

      • blue banana says:

so….. she should have stayed with the first husband because, why?

    • It'sJustBlanche says:

Her hair color is awful. Maybe she lightened it so people wouldn’t compare her to a budget Shoshanna?

    • snappyfish says:

I agree. I do not like her. I do not like him. She met him at the gym when she returned from her honeymoon and proceeded to leave her husband for Jerry. Lovely couple these two. Then there was the cookbook BS where she ripped off that woman who actually is a chef and had been publishing cookbook for years. Jerry went on late night and called the woman all kinds of names.

They both look uncomfortable and slightly miserable. I hope they are. As for her being a blonde. Not happening. She is a brunette with a v v bad dye job,. You would think with that kind of money she could find a better colorist.

      • AJ says:

Speaking of “ripping off”– the exact concept behind Jessica’s charity Baby Buggy (now expanded and under the umbrella of GOOD+) already existed in the form of another NYC charity called Room to Grow, but she has always presented it as an original idea.

  5. Tiffany says:

Yeah, the ST kids cast is growing on me. They all look adorable.

  6. my3cents says:

She looks like she’s in pain.
    The kids are beyond cute.

  7. Tania says:

Those kids are adorable. Good for them! Jessica looked a million times better with dark hair. The blond just doesn’t suit her. I’m sure no one has the stones to tell her that.

  8. EscapedConvent says:

I didn’t know who that was. That hair color is very unflattering. Her own dark hair color is much better. But I do like her dress.

  9. HH says:

The story around Jessica and Jerry’s pairing is just so…trashy, but in the richest way possible. It reminds me of the Alicia Keys and Swizz Beats, in the sense that it permanently stains what you think of them.

    • Cherry says:

      Do tell…??

      • QueenB says:

        from wikipedia:
“In August 1998, Seinfeld met Jessica Sklar at the Reebok Sports Club and they began dating. Sklar, a public relations executive for Tommy Hilfiger, had just returned from a three-week honeymoon in Italy with Eric Nederlander, a theatrical producer and scion of a theater-owning family.”

      • SamC says:

Her first husband also has a history of violating restraining orders, domestic violence, and living off his father. The Seinfelds meeting was a little sketchy but doubt that first marriage would have lasted long anyway.

      • Who ARE These People? says:

SamC thanks for the background (as I said below, kind of a relief to hear — she was really so strongly shaded for how things appeared). Shows that abuse happens at all levels of society.

More superficially – like the dress, hate the hair (colour and style).

      • Anonymous says:

Yeah, her first husband is an abusive douchebag. I remember reading an interview with Jessica, where she said she left him almost as soon as they came back from their honeymoon. She was actually really reasonable in the way she explained it: That they were having problems long before the wedding, and she made a huge error in judgment not calling it off. I think she felt caught, and didn’t want to cancel the wedding because it was a HUGE social event; and she also probably felt torn because she was marrying into big, big money and prestige, and didn’t want to give that all up. Anyway, I have no doubt she jumped at the chance to snag Jerry as soon as she possibly could, because then she didn’t HAVE to give up all the money and prestige — but I don’t think it’s entirely true, either, that she left her first husband for Jerry.

    • SusanneToo says:

Yes. It absolutely sounded like an episode of Seinfeld.

  10. mellie says:

I think Jessica is trying to be Kelly Ripa and it’s just not working….it doesn’t even work for Kelly Ripa most of the time.

  11. Michelina says:

I don’t dislike Jessica Seinfeld. To me, her style is always very “rich NYC housewife.” It would be difficult to pick her out of a crowd in the city. I thought she looked cute, though.

I ADORE the children from Stranger Things. I wonder why we never see the other two boys. It’s always only Gaten, Caleb, and Millie.

  12. Deanne says:

Jessica Seinfeld makes Gwyneth Paltrow seem down to earth and unpretentious by comparison. I’m not a fan of her ensemble and think she looks hideous with blonde hair. It’s like her hair and face are the same colour. The Stranger Things kids, on the other hand, are completely adorable. Love that show. So happy it got a second season.

    • Easypeasy123 says:

I met her at a charity event. She was very funny and down to earth. The start of her relationship was super shady but she is a very lovely person.

      • Deanne says:

Hasn’t her first husband since been accused of domestic abuse, stalking etc.? Starting an affair with someone else, when you have just returned home from your honeymoon is pretty suspect, but she may have had the realization she’d made a terrible mistake and not handled it well. She was crucified in the press and the court of public opinion. I know people who’ve gone through with their wedding, despite severe doubt, because they didn’t want to disappoint and inconvenience their families.

      • mee says:

But didn’t she and jerry accuse some poor woman of plagiarizing her cookbook, or was it vice versa? And it seemed that she actually had plagiarized the cookbook but the seinfelds used all their power/money to damage that woman. that sounds disgusting to me

      • MC2 says:

I read something that was quoted after she left her 1st husband along the lines of her being an insignificant girl that didn’t appreciated being chosen to have his last name (and a dig about her not being Jewish). It made me cringe. If that is a glimpse into her life then I don’t blame her for running to the fire exit & hopping in Jerry’s car.

It was the other woman that accused them of plagiarism and it was weak to say the best. They came up with the same idea at around the same time and I had a young son at the time- it wasn’t unique to either of them. Hiding veggies in brownies wasn’t a brand new discovery.

      • Virgilia Coriolanus says:

        @MC2
It wasn’t the recipes, it was the actual book cover and blurbs on the cover of the book that were similar to the point to where she wouldn’t have been able to do that without copying the book. CB has an article on it in the archives, you should check it out. And if I’m remembering right, the other woman’s book came out before, which was even worse. The reason Jessica “won” was because the judge focused on the recipes themselves, NOT the layout of the the cover and the blurbs.

    • Jayna says:

I used to watch her little cooking videos in her home she made.. It was easy cooking for families, and I always liked her when I watched them.

She looks awful as a blonde, and I can’t believe it’s lasted this long, several years now, it seems like.

      • Deanne says:

I actually think that she was very naturally pretty with her own dark hair. I get the trying out the blonde thing. I did it a decade ago, but it didn’t last because I found the maintenance a pain. Plus when I look at photos, especially with a tan, I had that same beige face and hair thing happening. She must really like it to have kept it this long.

      • GingerCrunch says:

I don’t know if I would go as far as saying she was pretty, but she definitely was more attractive with her dark hair. Way more sophisticated-looking, for sure.

  13. Snazzy says:

Well, to be fair, if I was living the highlife with 100’s of millions in the bank, I’d be pretty smug too. And I’d have champagne gummi bears in my purse

    • MC2 says:

This! I give her props for her charity work and being a good mom. The rest- shrug. She’s not killing anyone and her first husband sounds like he was a total d-bag so I don’t side eye for getting with Jerry. Jerry’s thing with the teen- now that makes me sick.

  14. Chaine says:

I still don’t understand why she went blonde. It does not suit her skin tone and IMO ages her. Needs to go back to her natural color.

    • minx says:

Same. She was much better looking with dark hair.

    • mee says:

probably easier to cover the gray. lots of women do this as they get more gray

      • Sullivan says:

        Agree. She’s covering the grey.

      • Bubbles says:

This is exactly why she went blonde. I saw an interview w/ Jessica last year, where she said her hair turned gray in her 30’s, and her hair stylist suggested she go blonde, since its easier to blend blonde/gray. And you do it less often too.

    • Adele Dazeem says:

There’s a “conventional wisdom” nugget out there that says the older you get, the less attractive super dark hair can look on you and that you should highlight to avoid shadows on the face in wrinkles. She took that advice perhaps a bit too far.

      • Kori says:

This. I have very dark brown hair and have been going gray for at least a decade. I’ve been gradually going lighter over the years for both the reasons above–covering the gray and keeping a more flattering color. I have a skin tone that wouldn’t go well with blonde though so I think the lightest I’ll go is a light/medium brown. Besides, with dark to blonde, you’re spending as much time upkeeping as you would covering the gray.

  15. Kelly says:

Kids are adorable although I don’t have a clue who they are.

Jessica needs to go back to her dark hair. Dress is okay, but I still have a problem with how she and Seinfeld got together. May be totally innocent but still seems shabby.

  16. ali says:

oh, c’mon Kaiser! the stranger things’ kids needed a post of their own! they were one on the high lights of the night…the PB&J bit was adorable! they don’t deserve to play second fiddle to jerry-shoshana-seinfeld and his socialite wife…

  17. SamC says:

Jessica Seinfeld doesn’t bother me, except for when she talks. She’s from Vermont but has adopted that upper west side posh lockjaw manner of speaking and certainly has embraced the NYC/Hamptons life, but I probably would too. She’s done a lot of good with her Baby Buggy nonprofit and her IG can be funny. Their meeting has some questionable undertones for sure, but if you read about her first husband he’s a nasty, abusive entitled piece of work and I think she’s acknowledged it was wrong to go through with the wedding.

    • Who ARE These People? says:

Thanks for providing the background on her first husband, it’s actually kind of a relief to hear this and she got away from a potentially very bad situation and into something better. The overlap was terrible no doubt, and if all this is true, she just has to carry this around. Maybe it shows how much pressure women can be under to go through with bad-idea weddings.

    • Squiggisbig says:

As awful as the first husband was it still is shady that she needed the next big fish on the hook before actually leaving. And frankly no matter who was at fault for the failure of the marriage she’s 100% responsible for the affair and she should just own that.

Also Jerry is a creep-o to me since his gf before her was a high school student.

      • burnsie says:

She’s got skeletons in her closet too. Her real name is Nina Danielle Sklar, but she randomly changed it to Jessica as an adult. Allegedly bce she had an affair with her teacher when she was a high school student

      • stinky says:

oh wow…. .. I so prefer the name ‘Nina’ to ‘Jessica’.
        dang, girl.

      • celebgossiplover says:

I really don’t know how Jessica caught Seinfeld or husband #1- I lived in NYC for 7 years and there are 10 prettier, better educated, wealthier, more accomplished women on each block than Jessica Seinfeld. I don’t know what she has- she should write a book on catching a rich husband, not a cookbook! She won’t have to plagiarize that book!!!

  18. Becki says:

I’m glad I opened this post b/c the ST kids were in it!! That was quite unexpected 🙂 I LOVE them and can’t wait to see season 2!!

Jessica Seinfeld, UGH, don’t like her. Her dress is OK, I think the length might be a tad too long, her legs look stumpy to me & I WISH she had paired it with a bolder pair of shoes. Those nudes are just not good for that dress. There is no WOW factor :/ Plus her hair…just NO. Not good. Makes me sad b/c I LOVE Seinfeld’s show and still watch it occasionally 🙂

  19. QQ says:

    LOL @ Jessica Seinfeld Hate

The Babies from Stranger Things are SUPER SUPER stylish, Every Appearance I see them They KILL with The Fashion ( Specially Caleb and Millie!! She wore something AMAZINg last week Front Row.. So did Winona!)

  20. Margo S. says:

Jerry and Jessica just seem like a–holes. Smug is a perfect word Kaiser. Just full of themselves. Why? Because your husband had a successful show 25 years ago? I just hate when I see people who clearly aren’t genuine.

  21. lizzie says:

she has resting poo face. she always looks like she is catching a whiff of dog crap and is wondering in her if its on her own shoe. she looks terrible blonde…terrible.

  22. OSTONE says:

I thought she was Erin Andrews for a minute. I loved Stranger Things.

  23. Pants says:

If she ditched the boa it would be fine.

  24. detritus says:

Jessica Seinfeld looks horribly uncomfortable and stressed. Jerry looks like he is having the time of his life.

The kids are so adorable that they should get their own post 😉

  25. Lucy says:

I’m barely familiar with the Stranger Things bunch, but still, I love them so much. They looked great and seem like good kids. Hopefully they’ll remain that way.

  26. Adele Dazeem says:

I don’t have a problem with Jessica so much (because I really don’t care and her IG cat and family posts are funny) but I was watching the red carpet pre game show and was appalled at how difficult Jerry was being to the interviewer. It was awkward. I get it, those hosts can be annoying, but no one was holding a gun to his head to do the red carpet, stars skip it all the time.

  27. Ravensdaughter says:

Nice to see the “Stranger Things” gang (less two).
Millie Bobby Brown does have some serious style. I saw her on Colbert and she is an absolutely charming English (!) girl. She rocked a schoolgirl look, but instead of the white shirt and blazer, she wore a tee with a big red heart on it.
Can’t wait for the next season!

  28. Apples says:

I won’t hear a bad thing said about Jessica or her sartorial choices. Sure, she is friends with Goop but nobody’s perfect. I follow her on Instagram and not only is she funny and self-deprecating, she created and runs an organization that’s been helping mothers (and fathers!) in need with baby clothes, food and whatever it is babies need for staying alive 🙂 So, given that she didn’t need to do anything and could’ve just enjoy her husband’s wealth while donating to various charities at pompous events, this woman’s actually makes a difference.

    • pk says:

Interesting…it’s too bad people focus on the negative, especially going back to 1998 when she met Jerry.

  29. Carmen says:

The dress is nice. She could lose that feather duster, though.

  30. Christy says:

I am here for Caleb’s coat!

  31. Heat says:

Jessica Seinfeld reminds me of Vanna White with that hair, strained smile, and dress. I do, however, like the bodice of the dress.

  32. Angel says:

She seems to have a lovely figure but this is one of those dresses that looks better on a flat, no hipped person. Her shape makes it cute but prom-y not art-y.

  33. Jess fan says:

I love Jessica! I follow her on Insta and she’s very funny and seemingly down to earth for having privileges the rest of us don’t have. I like her dress but not the boa or heels. I wonder if the blonde hair is because all her WASPY friends are blonde and that look rubs off after a while. Some days I like her color more than other days. Girls got gorgeous skin and I agree she would look lovely getting back to her natural color.
I do wonder what happened between her and Kelly Ripa? They used to say they were bff’s and include each other on their Instagram feeds but that stopped. Anyone know?

  34. L84Tea says:

Jessica’s hair color makes her skintone look gray to me. Her dark hair was so gorgeous. I think she’s spent too much time with her Kelly Ripa and Gwynnie and thought she needed to be blonde too. When she first did it and it was spikey short, it was kooky and kinda-sorta cute, but as she’s grown it out, just no. It’s awful and looks like straw.

  35. Arabella says:

She looks like Tracy Anderson a little bit

  36. Pmnichols says:

I hate her hair blonde and those earrings are no, just no. What’s that boa looking thing?? Ugh.

  37. North of Boston says:

Go away Jerry, go away Jessica. They both seem unpleasant to me, and the history of their meet and affair (I don’t care how bad your marriage was Nina, finish what you’re in before starting something new) and slamming the other cookbook author, not mention him dating a 17 year old before. Bah!

  38. blair says:

Jessica is blond to cover the bald spot where she got plugs. Darker hair emphasizes the balding.

I was never down with how she stole someone’s idea of pureeing veggies and sneaking it into regular recipes, and tried to shill it as her novel idea. That was cheating and lying.

  39. Kristin says:

Call me crazy, but I think this is the best Jessica Seinfeld has ever looked. I love the dress and I think the blonde hair is really flattering with her color. I usually found her rather plain, but I think she looks really pretty here. Okay guys, break out the torches and pitchforks:) Just give me a headstart please!

  40. Denise says:

How is it that my brunette hair turned blonde for £40 looks natural but Jessica Seinfeld with her gazillion dollars looks terrible with hers? And did Jerry hit the nitrous tank before stepping out onto the red carpet?
