Star: Taylor Swift is persona non grata in the New York fashion world?

Looking up videos of kittens hugging each other, probably.

During New York Fashion Week earlier this month, Taylor Swift only made one appearance at one show. It was the Tommy Hilfiger show, specifically for the capsule collection designed by Gigi Hadid in conjunction with the Hilfiger label. Taylor basically came out to support her friend Gigi, and Taylor made a big show of posting Instagrams from the show (including a video of herself singing along to Calvin Harris’s “This Is What You Came Here For,” which she wrote). I didn’t think much of the fact that the show seemed sort of raucous, in a very white-bread/Taylor Swift way. But according to Star Magazine, Mr. Hilfiger was so mad that Taylor pulled focus from the clothes! And not only that, Swifty is allegedly persona non grata with many designers. For reasons!

Taylor Swift has landed herself on fashion’s “don’t” list thanks to her antics during NYFW.

“Tommy Hilfiger hated her showbaoting in the front row at his show,” sniped one insider. “Taylor screamed and hooted at Gigi Hadid the whole time, you could barely focus on the clothes – it was a runway show, not a pep rally.”

In the wake of Taylor’s many public feuds and web of lies, the singer has become the celeb equivalent of a fanny pack. The source says designer Phillip Lim finds Taylor’s hunger for publicity “sickening” and won’t allow her at his next show, ditto Vera Wang, who once clamored to dress Taylor but now “turns her nose up at the very mention of her name.”

“Just last year Taylor was such an It Girl but people are tired of how calculating and phony she is,” explains the tipster. “And once the fashion pack decide you’re not worthy, it’s very difficult to recover.”

While no one should underestimate the juvenile pettiness and general superficiality of fashion professionals, I doubt this is true. I mean, maybe Vera Wang doesn’t care about Taylor Swift anymore, but let’s face it: most designers would love to dress Taylor in any way. Maybe not the designers tight with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, granted. Like, Riccardo Tisci of Givenchy won’t be dressing Taylor any time soon, methinks. Neither will Olivier Rousteing of Balmain, especially since Balmain’s latest ad is the music video for Kanye’s “Wolves.” But everybody else? Hell yes they would dress Taylor. They would love to have her at their shows too.

The fashion world is all about being stoic, looking moody and almost apathetic. They can’t stomach happiness, smiles, or obnoxious behavior. It’s a complete system reset for one of these snooty designers to see jocular activity.

  2. QQ says:

There there, Dont Cry for Her Commentariat , A wealthy Thin White Girl will be Fine in very short order, she’ll Thrive even (That’s IF this story isn’t absolutely full of Sh*t)

    • Bridget says:

Taylor will always ultimately deliver the drama. She can’t help herself. And that’s why we don’t need to make it up, because what she manages to do to herself will be like 10x better (See: the delivery of the receipts in comparison to the Calvin Harris stuff).

And LOL at Hilfiger hiring Gigi Hadid for whatever and then trying to be all “let the clothes speak for themselves”

    • HH says:

If this is true, I wouldn’t be offended the yelling, but by the endless selfies and videos. Like, you’re here to watch my work. Focus on my show.

    • SMD says:

QQ, she and Maria Sharapova can console one another about how unfair and incredibly difficult their lives are, yes? We just don’t get their struggle y’all!

“the singer has become the celeb equivalent of a fanny pack”

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Thank you for that, Star Magazine.

  4. Mabel says:

LOL at this made up story. I doubt TH was upset Taylor attracted a lot of attention at his show. All the designers fill their front row seats with popular celebrities for that reason — to attract attention to their collections!

  5. velourazure says:

Tommy Hilfiger strikes me as the “there’s no such thing as bad publicity” kind of guy so I’m not buying this story.

  6. esceptic says:

I’d respect Star more if they at least wrote fun fan fiction. Like Taylor and her squad being a pack of werewolf-witches that engage in lesbian orgies every full moon while they perform voodoo spells on their exes. It’s not like people actually believe this boring crap they write, right?

  7. Ayra. says:

I love her shoes, good grief.
Even after all the drama, she’ll be fine. Her image took a hit but she’s being smart and keeping away. Her fans are still backing her up. Hell, she’s doing the Super Bowl pre-show.

  8. bluerunning says:

er…. They may be peeved with her, but isn’t Taylor like a designer’s dream celeb? Built like a model (tall, lean, long-legged, relatively small chest), tons of publicity, tons of fans, huge online following? Granted, she does come with baggage and drama.

  9. QueenB says:

not buying it. as if they have to like someone to dress them. that would be a short list.

  10. Gena says:

Let’s face it. High fashion is for your Angelina Jolies and Taylor is about as Jennifer Aniston as you can get. Except I usually like Jennifer alright and wish Taylor would disappear.

  11. Abby_J says:

I don’t know. I bet Kanye would happily put her in some of his awful clothes and send her down the runway. That could be amazing.

  12. K says:

i think there is some truth and some exaggeration to this. You aren’t supposed to make noise or pull focus during a show and all her antics and drama would bother a designer. That being said she gets press so they would dress her, however she is a bit basic so big edgy designers probably would view her as a fanny pack.

  13. Nicole says:

Kaiser, Vera Wang is tight with the Kardashians, too. She has made multiple wedding dresses for them.

    • Bridget says:

That doesn’t really mean anything. Vera Wang is one of the biggest wedding dress designers out there. Givenchy doing a wedding dress is a sign of friendship. Vera Wang designing a wedding dress is just doing her job.

  14. alexc says:

‘…but people are tired of how calculating and phony she is’

Like that doesn’t encompass 99.9% of people in the fashion industry.
