George Clooney led Amal ‘by the hand’ to the buffet at a weekend charity event

Here are some photos of Amal and George Clooney over the weekend. They attended MPTF’s 95th anniversary celebration, Night Under the Stars, where George made some opening remarks. According to E! News, George and Amal entered the event hand-in-hand, and George asked for his own tequila brand, Casamigos, on the rocks. E! also says “George took Amal by the hand over to the bar and buffet and asked if she wanted to eat.” Is that supposed to be sweet? Or is it weird? Like, if I see a buffet, I don’t need to be led to it and questioned IF I want to eat. If there’s a buffet, I’m hitting up that sh-t like three times even if I’m not invited. Does George have to literally lead Amal to food and ask her like a child if she’s hungry?

Anyway, Amal’s outfit was… interesting. She wore a $300 Tibi top and vintage Ossie Clark pants – you can see the full view on these pants here. They are literally crazy-pants. Amal has been doing more vintage stuff in the past year or so, probably because she’s going hard with the Jackie Kennedy-mod look. These pants don’t really fit that, but whatever.

And finally, E! spoke to George at this event and they asked him about his second wedding anniversary. George joked: “It’s very big news. Very, very big celebration—fireworks… Ok, I made dinner…I don’t think she’s ever quite impressed with my cooking.” I actually think George knows his way around the kitchen, and it wouldn’t surprise me at all if he was a half-decent cook and griller. I imagine it was a nice meal. He probably had to lead Amal to the dinner table and ask her if she wanted to eat.

Is it just me, or does her face look different? She looks so much better?

    • Zuzus Girl says:

Looks the same to me. Maybe the make-up is better.

      • Emmet says:

When Amal doesn’t wear the red lipstick, it softens her.

However the clothes are always a mess. It comes across as trying too hard.

      • Christianna says:

Looks like she finally got a break from the cases and got a good night’s sleep.

    • Dippit says:

New nose again. Seems to have been done over the summer. It’s been discussed on her style blog.

      • smith says:

But her blog doesn’t have a full money shot of the “crazy” pants. There’s a shot of the tag, lots of images of the top 1/3 (um, nice waist band?) and a great reprint of a model wearing them (with a matching top!), but not Amal wearing the look in its entirety. Fashion blog fail IMO.

She really tries, bless her. And she does look adoringly at Clooney these days. She used to just scan the room looking for paparazzi …

    • lisa says:

      her face is much softer

      much less like mr bean

      • Justjj says:

^Ouch. Lmao. But yeah, I think it’s weird. Being led by the hand to a buffet is not romantic at all unless you’re 87 and you and your husband are retired on a shamelessly tacky cruise ship or something.

  2. Saras says:

Was she too weak to walk there herself?

  3. HH says:

I like Amal, in that I want to defend that a woman can be into fashion and still be an intelligent, serious lawyer. However, her style SUCKS for the most part.

  4. QQ says:

These Pants speak to my soul as a woman that almost wore her own Tuxedo stripe Floral Soft Pants to work today… Hes are ridiculous and I Love em ( I settled for an Obnoxiously patterned Scuba skirt)

    • MC2 says:

I was coming to say that I like the pants!

    • BorkBorkBork says:

I like the pants too. The fabric is pretty, but must be some kind of satin because it whiskered into messy wrinkles at the crotch. I’d look like a sack of cats in those. Are those her hip bones sticking out so pointy-like? Ouch. Maybe it’s just the cut of the pants.

  5. Thaisajs says:

The answer is “no,” George. She never wants to eat. The answer will always be no.

    • SM says:

I undestand that this is the subtext of the article. She is so skinny that she doesn’t eat so George, being the loving and carrying husbant that he is, is leading her to the buffet. I really do think that people who do not enjoy food are missing on a lot in life. But sometimes it doesn’t mean that thin people don’t enjoy food (the only evidence being that they are thin) but if that is the case here I say life is u fair because these people I imagine have the access to the best food on earth

  6. MissMerry says:

maybe she’s too posh to know how a buffet works?!

idk which idea is funnier, if she has to be asked if shes hungry like a baby, or if she truly didn’t know how to work her way around a buffet…

    bahahahaha.

  7. I Choose Me says:

I like the pants. In fact I really like her overall look and styling here.

Now to do some photo assumptioning on that second photo. Looks like George told a joke to which Hugh Jackman guffawed but Amal was less amused. Her expression reads like “Really George?”

  8. swak says:

Is it me or have there been many more pictures of George and Amal loving it up (holding hands, him leading her to the buffet, etc) lately? Just an observation.

  9. Georgia says:

I want to know about Hugh Jackman. Did he enjoy the buffet?

  10. Becki says:

I want to see the whole length of those pants!! They look comfy, but they could be cute or not, depending on how they flare and if there is more of a pattern towards the bottom hem. ALso, there is a full blog devoted to her style?! Who knew.

  11. Pandy says:

Love the wrinkling on the butt of her pants. I, too, suffer from pancake ass

  12. Nimbolicious says:

She’d probably already eaten her 47-calorie allotment for the day.

  13. Jayna says:

They got married after a year of dating, so three years together. They seem happy two years into their marriage. She looks pretty in the photos. George needs to grow back his facial hair.

  14. KiddVicious says:

Love the pants. They look much better with her top than the original top shown.

  15. Crumpet says:

Maybe he’s trying to get some weight on her. Lord knows she’s almost vanished since they’ve been together.

  16. paranormalgirl says:

Apparently, you can lead Amal to the buffet, but you can’t make her eat. (sorry, bad joke)

I don’t understand someone needing assistance to the buffet. If it’s a buffet of good food, my ass is up there even if I have to plow through a room of VIPs. I so do love the foodstuffs.

    • BearcatLawyer says:

I am with you. Good food? I’m there. Heck, even if the food is not that great or not stuff I ordinarily eat/like, I will still try it. You never know until you try!

What kind of creeps me out about this interaction between George and Amal (particularly coming so soon after they were photographed holding hands and acting like lovebirds during a Serious UN Meeting) is the bizarre paternalism of George “leading” Amal to the buffet and “asking” her if she wanted to eat. She is an adult woman. Surely she does not need to be escorted to a buffet and served like a parent might feed a child. Mind you, I am no longer married, but if my ex-husband had done something like that with me, I would have flat out asked him if there was some reason he thought I was incapable of managing a buffet!

IIRC, you are a psychiatrist in real life. What do you think about their behaviour?

      • Egla says:

Well in my world I have had male colleagues trying to order for me what THEY thought i might want to eat. I am a fighter and I get what I want usually but let me tell you they thought they were doing me a favor.
Last time was last week in a table of 15 people with 5 females. The others stayed quiet. The waiter was a smart guy, he saw my face and asked me gently what I wanted to order. After he was gone I got the “speech” that my order was not a good one and I should have taken theirs. Well when you pay for my food MAYBE you can order it for me. He was livid. But yes it happens a lot.

    • Egla says:

I HATE buffets. I need a table to sit and someone to serve me. Hell I even hate fast foods like Mc Donalds where you have to take your own order. I have had to deal with some ceremonies in my life where there have been buffets. Let me tell you that the first times I ended home hungry. Even if i eat something it must be small or easy to chew . Call me stupid, I feel like everybody is watching me eating and I get anxious.
But in her case, I don’t know maybe they are telling just a story or maybe there’s some subtext to it like “She doesn’t eat”.

    • BorkBorkBork says:

I know. I am a CHAMP at buffets. A little bit of everything, and twice on the fresh stuff they just put out.

  17. Granger says:

I am honestly not body shaming here, and I get that Amal is a slender woman, but I don’t believe for one minute her body is supposed to be as thin as this.

  18. Bridget says:

I dunno, maybe it’s just because they wanted to eat together? Who knows.

  19. redd says:

    Bitch, EAT!

  20. cerys says:

Amal is far too skinny and i imagine she has some serious issues with food. Perhaps George is aware of that and was trying to gently encourage her.

  21. Mae says:

Are all the skinny shaming comments (adding a disclaimer that you aren’t really body shaming doesn’t reduce the skinny shaming) really adhering to commenting guidelines? A bit unfriendly to those who are thin I think. I can’t wait until the next overweight celebrity, then I can concern troll them and discuss how they should really try to eat less already! 🙂
