Kristen Stewart in Sandro Paris at a NYFF premiere: Billy Idol Realness?

A couple of weeks ago, Kristen Stewart went dramatically blonde. I said I liked the blonde, mostly because I really, really hated Kristen’s previous hair look, which was half-fried blonde and half-dark-roots, and all-unwashed. Many of you disagreed though, and I understand why: the blonde was too yellow, and she did look washed out. Well, now Kristen has changed up her hair a little bit more. These photos are from last night’s New York Film Festival premiere of Certain Women. Kristen seems to have gone shorter, although the blonde still looks like a single-process job that doesn’t really work on her. She truly gives off a Billy Idol vibe.

For the NYFF premiere, Kristen wore this Sandro Paris suit which… no, I don’t like it. I don’t mind that Kristen wears suits/pants/whatever. She’s more comfortable in pants, I get that. But she has the worst taste in dressy pants and trousers. This suit looks so dated and low-quality.

I know she’s promoting Certain Women right now, but there’s some news about one of her other films, Personal Shopper. She was directed by Olivier Assayas, who also directed her in her Cesar-award-winning performance in The Clouds of Sils Maria. Kristen will likely be promoting Personal Shopper a lot this month too, and you can tell that she’s proud of her work with Assayas. He’s proud of her too – in a recent interview, he described her as an actress with “an infinitely larger range than many actresses of her generation. She has an inner depth coupled with a spontaneity and naturalness that sets her apart. She also has an innate understanding of cinema that makes me believe she could succeed at directing too.” I get that he’s just trying to compliment Kristen specifically, but it reads as shade against other actresses, right? Especially since I don’t really associate Kristen with having amazing range. Here’s the first trailer for Personal Shopper. It looks spooky!

*Baroo face* … OK .. PUSH THROUGH Grumpy Girl!?!?! Two in a row from her that not Only do I NOT hate, I Actually Love!!.. (not that I’d spend good money Watching her sigh on screen again But she seems to have turned a leaf after just being upfront with her gf situation is like she came into her own, chilled, got some proper style mojo back)

  2. Astrid says:

I don’t have a problem in general with short blond hair or pantsuits but neither of these seem to do her any favors

  3. HK9 says:

I’ve always had a soft spot for a good suit. I think she looks great.

  4. Jess1632 says:

Don’t like the suit or hair but intrigued by the trailer.

She reminds me of Halsey in these pics

  5. Kk says:

    I think she looks fantastic.

    • Geekychick says:

Yeah, I don’t get the criticism this time, I think this is one of her best looks. The suit, the hair, the makeup, whole package.

  6. Tiny Martian says:

I hate, hate, hate the undone jacket thing, it’s just so very contrived. Not to mention incredibly stupid and impractical! All I can think when I see those pics of her walking and holding her jacket together is “Hey, there’s an invention for that, it’s called Buttons!!”.

That being said, I think her makeup looks great for the first time in ages. Her makeup artists seem to have dropped their usual heavy greasy liner, at least for a day. Yay!!

  7. Loo says:

I think she looks amazing. I adore the entire look.

    • Coconut says:

Agree! She seems much happier/comfortable in her skin here, as opposed to all those awkward girly getups Chanel (?) puts her in.

  8. Miss M says:

She will be promoting 3 films at NYFF. If I am not mistaken, the third one was directed by Ang Lee. She was invited for 2 h of Q’s and A’s at NYFF. I think this is a sign she is cemeting her status as darling of the critics. Or maybe not… what do I know?

  9. AlleyCat says:

In what world does she have emotional range? Sure, she might have improved…but you can still tell Kristen is uncomfortable in front of a camera.

  10. D says:

It’s a bit of an Annie Lennox look

    • detritus says:

Yeah, I’m feeling that. Or blonde Ruby Rose.
She looks hot though, even with the bad quality fabric on that suit.

  11. CharlotteCharlotte says:

    She looks great.

  12. ell says:

i don’t understand why she doesn’t go blonde properly, it’s like badly done or something?? surely she can afford better.

    i love the outfit though.

  13. Bethany says:

She is definitely beautiful and I kinda like her blonde hair. But I wish she would speak more clearly. ENUNCIATE, Kristen.

  14. Marika says:

She reminds me of Emma Watson in one of the pics. I don’t like the hair colour, it’s yellowish.

  15. LondonGal says:

There is no Dana onl Zuuuuuul!

  16. Ana says:

I think she looks incredible. Stuning.

  17. Val says:

Well he said he was inspired by her to write Personal Shopper – so apparently he really likes her. I don’t really get it, but ok.

  18. The Original G says:

I’m not a fan and I think she looks great.

  19. Insomniac says:

Not a fan of the open jacket thing, but that color is stunning on her and I still like the hair.

I really wish I could see this amazing multifaceted actress others see when they watch her, but I still don’t get it.

  20. Another Anne says:

Don’t like the Draco Malfoy hair color and style at all. The no shirt and wide open jacket looks tacky.

Hearing rumors that she dumped Alicia again. She’s been seen recently with St. Vincent, who was her guest last night. Girl is messy.

That said, her career is doing quite well.

    • TotallyOld says:

Yeah, I think there pics somewhere of Alicia moving out of her house.

The outfit that takes the cake, is the one she word to the Q&A,, No pants, just a blazer that was regular length. She is dressing weird lately, guess she is trying to become the lesbian actress with edge, Wouldn’t think KS would want to be known more for clothes than acting but it’s her decision. I just don’t like her in general so easy for me to dislike most everything about her. Carry on with the fan worship.

  21. eggy weggs says:

Put a subtle violet toner on that blonde and it will be lovely. Cut is OK…I had a variation of this a few years ago. She wears it well. I like this iteration of her best, I think.

  22. Poisonous Lookalike says:

She wishes she could bring Billy Idol realness. She’s approaching Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer emo realness.

  23. Gabby says:

I actually love this look on her! It’s super 80s but really suits her

  24. shannon. says:

I hate this hair. I adore short hair and I adore short, blond hair. But, I hate this hair. I think most people do and therefore that’s why she’s wearing it. Short hair is not for the low maintenance if you want to look put together on the daily.

Lainey says she was seen with Alicia a few days prior. My response to this is what does that matter? I think she was seen with Robert Pattinson a few days prior to Cooper gate as well.

  25. Tig says:

Not a fan of bottle blonding/all the same shade- harsh on anyone. Was waiting for another movie, and the trailer for the Ang Lee film came on. And, there was a clip where KS is yet again showing zip range- no emotion, zero. Count me among the prior posters who don’t see what the fuss is about either.
