Melania Trump: Billy Bush egged on Donald Trump ‘to say dirty & bad stuff’

melania1

Honestly, I was surprised that Melania Trump agreed to do an interview. I thought she was going to wait out the rest of the election in her gold-plated Manhattan lair. I also thought that the last thing Donald Trump and his campaign would want is to put Melania front-and-center (on her own!) in an interview against CNN’s Anderson Cooper. At the end of the day, Melania didn’t do herself or the campaign any favors, but then again, Anderson didn’t ask her about plagiarism or immigration either, so maybe it was a wash. Here are some of the weirder quotes from Melania’s interview, her first in months:

Her husband’s p-ssy grabbing tape: “I said to my husband that, you know, the language is inappropriate, it’s not acceptable, and I was surprised because that is not the man that I know. And as you can see from the tape, the cameras were on. It was only a mic. And I wonder if they even knew that the mic was on because they were kind of boy talk and he was lead on, like, egg on from the host to say dirty and bad stuff.

Whether she had heard Donald speak that way before: “No. That’s why I was surprised because I said, like, I don’t know that person that would talk that way and that he would say that kind of stuff, in private. I heard many different stuff, boys talk. I — the boys, the way they talk when they grow up and they want to sometimes show each other, oh, this and that, and talking about the girls and — but, yes, I was — I was surprised, of course. But I was not surprised that the tape came out. I was not surprised about that.”

The “locker room talk” excuse: “Yes, it’s kind of two teenage boys. Actually, they should behave better, right? [Cooper says, “He was 59.”] Correct. And sometimes I said I have two boys at home. I have my young son and I have my husband. So — but, I know how some men talk and that’s how I saw it, yes.

Whether the tape was an admission of sexual assault: “No. That’s not sexual assault. He didn’t say he did it, and I see many, many women coming to him and giving phone numbers and, you know, want to work for him or inappropriate stuff from women. And they know he’s married, so…Oh, yes, of course. It was in front of me. In front of me. And I said, like, why you need to give your number to my husband? I’m very strong. People, they don’t really know me. People think and talk about me, the — like, “Oh, Melania, oh, poor Melania.” Don’t feel sorry for me. Don’t feel sorry for me. I can handle everything.

Her marriage: “We always have a great marriage and strong relationship and he said many times, that I’m the rock for the whole family. And yes, we are very strong, we are two independent people thinking on their own, and have a very open conversation, and I think that’s very healthy for the relationship.”

What she wants people to know: “That my husband is kind, and he’s a gentleman, and he would never do that. That everything was organized and put together to hurt him, to hurt his candidacy.

On her husband mocking women’s appearances: “Well, that’s him. He’s raw. He will say it as he feels it. So, you know, I know he respects women, but he’s defending himself because they’re lies.”

The multiple accusations of Trump’s groping, forcible kissing & harassment: “I believe my husband, I believe my husband, this was all organized from the opposition. And with the details that they go, did they ever check the background of these women? They don’t have any facts, and even the story that came out in “People” magazine, the writer that she said my husband took her to the room and started kissing her, she wrote in the same story about me that she saw me on 5th avenue, and I said to her “Natasha, how come we don’t see you anymore?” I was never friend with her, I would not recognize her…never happened. That’s why I sent them the letter, because it discredited the story. Yes of course because it was not true, so how we could believe her. That never happened, I was never friends with her, I saw her, she interview us twice, she came to the wedding, and for that story, that’s it, I would not recognize her on the street or ask her why we don’t see her anymore, so that was another thing like people come out saying lies and not true stuff.”

[From CNN’s AC360]

There was also an absolutely hilarious exchange at the end of the interview where Cooper asked Melania what her priorities would be as First Lady and she talked about bullying and social media… and even Anderson was like, “Um, your husband is a gigantic Twitter troll and bully” and she was like “whatever, he’s raw.” Anyway… yes, Melania is an idiot. One of my favorite parts was the stupidity about Natasha Stoynoff, the People Magazine reporter. Melania was like “I remember meeting her three times and she came to my wedding but I would not recognize her on the street! Receipts!” As for Melania saying that Donald Trump was only bragging about sexual assault because he wanted to look cool because Billy Bush was peer pressuring him… this is the man who is the GOP nominee for president. A presidential candidate’s defense is “Billy Bush made me do it!”

All these media lies trying to rig the election. The media has been trying to manipulate the American people from the start. This goes back decades – 11 years ago Billy Bush forced Trump to say hateful things. This is an anti Trump conspiracy! #trumpisinnocent

    • qw says:

Well he *was* just an impressionable 59-year-old.

      • JennaR says:

        @qw This!!

      • souldawg says:

Imagine what will happen when this impressionable man meets world leaders who egg him on? What trouble will he end up getting into?

I don’t understand why people aren’t picking up on the political implications of her statement – he’s easily influenced. Not great for President right there.

      • Diane says:

        Awesome!

    • Lahdidahbaby says:

Yes, Billy bullied Donald into it, goaded him on to talk that offensive Boy Talk, so it’s obvious that Donald couldn’t help himself because as we all know, a more powerful and wealthy older person like Billy can always make a younger, more impressionable, less experienced person say things that he…oh wait.

      • Clare says:

I think we need to use Billy’s secret skills for good – send the man to Syria to short shit out with his ability to make people do and say what he wants!

      • Rice says:

Damn you Billy Bush, with your younger self egging on an older, more experienced 59 year old man! No more Locker Room Boy Talk. We only want to hear Girl Talk.

      • Snappyfish says:

Yes, Billy Bush who has been deemed unacceptable to host the 3rd hour of the Today show w/Hoda & Kathie Lee was able to “force, egg, goad” a 59 year old who is now the republican candidate for President to say “dirty boy talk things”. Yes, Melania, your husband is clearly fit to be President. Give her credit. She lives in her gilded tacky palace whose mortgage is held by The People’s bank of China mothering her two children. Her son & his petulant spoiled bullying father.

        Poor poor brainwashed gold digger.

      • JenniferJustice says:

Trump is the big dog and Billy is the little dog in those cartoons where little dog runs around big dog asking “What are we going to do today Butch? Huh? Huh? What are we gonna’ do?” Little dog doesn’t make big dog do anything. Big dog runs the show and little dog is his nervous neurotic fan-boy.

    • Veronica says:

I’m seriously baffled by the people on my Facebook (which I’m logging out of until after the election) keep talking about the unfair shake he’s getting, when I’m just like…the media was treating him with kid gloves up until he won the primary. That’s a big part of why he even got this far. Hillary, on the other hand, has been consistently put through the blender since the beginning, even on issues that weren’t actually “issues.” Literally the first half of 2016 was dominated be EMAILS (legit issue) and BENGHAZI (not a legit issue) and CLINTON FOUNDATION (yet to turn up actual issue), while we’ve yet to see hide nor hair of the fact that a court case featuring a 13 year old rape victim is moving against. This is what happens when you run for president – the skeletons come out.

  2. Nemera77 says:

So Billy Bush can influence someone that wants to be the President of the United States. I wonder what they gave her to come out 10 days after this all hit. Not to mention she said that she had 2 children at home. Her son and Her husband. Something many have said. Trump is a child.

    • Esmom says:

Yeah, interesting tidbit of truth she stumbled into right there.

    • Christin says:

Probably the one and only shred of truth in it all.

      • nicole says:

Exactly, she knows the kind of man she married and what he gets up to, she was probably coached what to say, shes there for the money and lifestyle and nothing else, so she is going to behave herself and do what she is told. I also couldnt beleive how hard faced and plasticky looking she is up close, no natural beauty there, thats for sure.

  3. Arlene says:

So it’s ALWAYS the fault of someone else, gotcha.

  4. cr says:

So a then 59 year old is that influenced by a then 33 year old? Trump would get rolled by Congress and just about every world leader in a nano-second.

    • wood dragon says:

Which is why Putin has put so much interest in getting him elected. God help us all if that happens.

      • Sullivan says:

        +1

      • Who ARE These People? says:

And Lord help Europe, because this is why Trump would pull out of /weaken NATO — put out the welcome mat for Putin.

      • Tiffany :) says:

The lengths Putin has gone to get him elected is scary.

Also, people need to accept that Wikileaks is just dishing out Russia’s bidding. Assange is not ethical, and anything he releases needs to be reviewed with skepticism. He is not above misrepresenting and manipulating facts.

  5. L says:

Of course this isn’t the man you know, Melania. Men like this known better than to ever speak this way in front of their wives. And don’t say “stuff” so much when you’re on national tv. Doesn’t exactly help….

    • qw says:

Oh, she knows him. You don’t end up where she is by accident. This is not an innocent, naive woman who just fell in love.

      • PunkyMomma says:

Exactly. Melania knew what she was getting from day one.

      • Megan says:

Yep. And she is the world’s worst liar. I have no idea how Anderson Cooper kept a straight face in that interview.

      • Christin says:

It’s easy to be swayed by a sweeter sounding one, but birds of a feather…

      • naomipaige says:

+1 …. Agreed. She’s exactly where she wants to be with this beast!

      • Lolo86lf says:

Why is Melania standing by her man like Tammy Wynette? Why didn’t she file for divorce on the grounds that her husband is a disgusting pig? Is it because she loves him and they have a small child together, or is it because she does not want to lose her lavish lifestyle she has become used to? She seems like a passive, agreeable lady to me and Donald is going to dump her as soon as she hits her fifties.

      • CooCooCatchoo says:

She’s a Stepford Wife. I would say she’s dumb, but she’s actually as smart as a fox. Melania knows who pays for her obscenely opulent lifestyle. So what, she has to tell a lie or two to keep it. She’s already sold her soul to that creep – a lie or two is no big deal to her.

    • Zapp Brannigan says:

I don’t think Donald Trump censors himself for anyone, do you really think he would watch his language and use of aggressive words around the little woman at home. She is not a person with agency to him, she is an extension of Brand Trump, and lower down the pecking order than most in the brand. And the brand can always be reworked to no longer include her.

    • Rice says:

I’m confused. Melania said that she was surprised about the boy talk but not surprised about the tape.

    • JudyK says:

Re the use of “stuff.” I lost count of how many times she used that very non-descript, elementary word. She and The Donald seem to share the same grade school vocabulary…”very, very,” “horrible, horrible.”

    • Oya says:

I think she does know who he is, but the People Mag’s reporter’s description of how DT immediately changed attitude when (pregnant) Melania came into the room backs you up.

    • Nicole says:

Anyone seen The Nice Guys with Gosling and Crowe? Gosling’s daughter keeps saying, ‘and stuff’, he tells her not to say it. Ah, this makes me laugh.

    • isabelle says:

This. The good ole boys club knows how to fool their women and they purposely treat them differently and act differently than they are in real life. Also its a sign of a personality disorder. PDs people tend to be very different in their personal settings versus their business settings and keeping the two personas separate. Anytime you listen to someone describe a person with a PD disorder, their friends and family are often shocked by their disgusting behaviors.

      • qw says:

It’s the other way round in my experience. No one related to the people with personality disorders in my life would ever doubt the sh*t they do. They’re definitely at their worst around their closest family, and those who know them from work would never believe what they’re capable of.

  6. aquarius64 says:

The interview looks well rehearsed. Dumb move to throw Billy Bush under the bus for Trump’s ignorant behavior. Billy just got fired so he may have nothing to lose by airing more dirt.

  7. lightpurple says:

“Well, that’s him. He’s raw. He will say it as he feels it. So, you know, I know he respects women, but he’s defending himself because they’re lies.”

That is him but they are lying? Which is it, Melania? And we should check their backgrounds? Why? How would that negate or change what your rutting pig of a husband did to them? No, he is NOT a boy and he and you do not get to use the “boy talk” excuse.

Poor Donald, victim of that evil Billy Bush. The Bush family strikes again!

    • Sadezilla says:

I also love how she calls him a gentleman and then in the next breath says he says what he feels. If he had the first grain of respect for others, he’d never refer to women as pigs, ugly, not attractive enough for him to grope, etc., etc. Not to mention reducing his very qualified opponent to her looks (or really, worse: whether she’s attractive to HIM). So, no, he’s not a gentleman, he’s a narcissist and a sorry excuse for a human. His words show that every time.

      • Sadezilla says:

I forgot to add the bonus victim-shaming. Only people with backgrounds as impeccable as Melania’s (false education claims and dubious visa use aside) can be assaulted, dontchaknow!

      • lightpurple says:

He’s the sort of “gentleman” that keeps “gentlemen’s clubs” in business.

    • Megan says:

It’s kind of delicious that the best Clinton surrogate turns out to be a Bush.

    • SMD says:

Yes Light Purple the contradictions are endless! One of the many drawbacks of working, living or coexisting with someone like DT and his personality disorder is you always have to agree with them 100% on everything. There is no room for disagreement because DT sees it as a personal attack and disloyal. It is exhausting and makes you question your reality at times. I worked for a boss like this once, it was horrible. I think we haven’t seen anything yet in terms of a meltdown which frightens me. DT can’t lose, losing is the worst thing ever, it means you are weak and useless. Hence calling the election rigged before it even happens. We see you DT!

    • Chetta B. says:

Only thing worse than a liar? A bad liar, lol. Ironic that he talks about this woman having had “big phony tits” when his wife has the same. They’re both liars. Fine character fit for the presidency? Not.

  8. Christine says:

It took them this long for her to come out and do an interview in support? Talking points: he’s raw and BB egged him on. Obviously not her words; did it take them this long to prep her or to convince her or him?

    • Melly says:

That’s what I thought too. She looked like she was trying to remember her lines throughout the interview.

  9. OSTONE says:

It’s funny that they keep talking, because the best thing to happen to the trump campaign right now is to be quiet haha!

  10. Locke Lamora says:

I’m pretty sure sure they have a strictly proffessional relationship. She gets to lead a luxury life, he gets to have an official wife and someone to take care of their kid. It doesn’t seem to be an actual marriage any more.

And I don’t think Melania is stupid. You can’t be stupid and get into an architecture program in university, even if she didn’t finish it. I just think she doesn’t care.

    • Lara K says:

      THIS!
I think she has zero interest in being First Lady. She is just toeing the line so the gravy train won’t stop.

Honestly she is probably thrilled – she would much prefer to keep her NY lifestyle.

    • notasugarhere says:

Certain universities or educational institutions, it is easy to get into any degree program as long as you have the money to pay. If they are hurting for students and money, your academic abilities aren’t important but your money is.

      • Locke Lamora says:

Well, not in Slovenia, or anywhere in the former Yugoslavia.
Maybe that would be possible in private colleges but thise are thankfully rare and only offer degrees in the field of economy.

    • Jigli says:

She doesn’t have a degree, it’s been already proven. Period.

  11. Bethy says:

So she doesn’t remember the People reporter? Of course not, Melania doesn’t know us commoners. The Anderson Cooper interview makes her look like an idiot. Maybe Billy Bush should be running for president since he can influence people so much according to Mrs. Trump. Bushy2020.

    • crtb says:

That to me was the only credible thing she said. She must meet hundreds of reporters a year. I don’t doubt that she doesn’t remember who they are and that she has met them before.

    • jwoolman says:

The friend who was with the reporter at the time of her encounter with Melania on the street remembers the incident and Melania did say what the reporter claimed. Odd that Melania bothers to lie about that, would be no harm to tell the truth. Maybe Donald told her to deny it.

  12. Kat says:

I fear that Chyyyyna and Mexico could well have much to gain from the US electing this gentleman who is unable to restrain his age appropriate need to be in with the cool kids.

Possibly explains why he’s such a massive Putin fan. Putin always looks like he knows where the shirtless party’s at.

  13. ronaldinhio says:

Either she believes this wholeheartedly or she has been made to say it
I’m going to throw my hands in the air
My terribly beautiful friend has a ridiculous dawg of a husband. He has been up all over everyone. It is embarrassing and sad to watch. She genuinely believes him over everything and everyone.
I call self esteem but maybe she is treated nicely by him one 2 one and that is enough for her.

  14. Shock&Awe says:

Please tell me it won’t happen. Please tell me this knock-off, bargain basement, off-the-rack, Zsa Zsa Gabore wannabe will not me our First Lady. I need this election to be over. I want Trump to lose and for that Beast and demon menagerie he calls children to fade from public view. The sight of these people has begun to turn my stomach.

    • crtb says:

If you think Trump and his supporters will crawl back under their rocks after the election, think again. A Pandora’s box has been opened. Trump kept the Birther movement up for five years. He will NOT go quietly into the night. We will hear for the next 4 or 8 years about the rigged election and how he would/could do better.

      • Lady D says:

He’s going to try and change the Constitution so he can run again in 2 years. Speaking of, my US friends, is there a limit to the amount of times one can run for president?

      • swak says:

@Lady D – limit number of times to run – no. Limit to number of times elected – yes. From the 22nd amendment:
“No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once. . . . “

    • Lady D says:

I’ve noticed a lot less pictures of Ivanka’s children these days. Maybe they are starting to fade already.

  15. Betsy says:

I think even less of both Trump and Melania now. What a pair of fools.

  16. Tate says:

Twitter is so great for comic relief. #billybushmademedoit

  17. Lucy2 says:

Umm… She knows everyone has heard the tape, right? there was clearly “no egging on”, and this was not an isolated incident.

    • jwoolman says:

And he certainly did claim he does such things. We can hear it for ourselves. Plus the problem is not the language used but rather the actions described.

  18. ReineDidon says:

She said “don’t feel sorry for me I can handle it”. She knows she is in a very bad position she’s been humiliated publicly so many times and she knows people feel sorry for her. She is not a trophy wife. She’s not loved nor respected. She’s just there and he acts like she doesn’t matter or exist at all.
She could never ever get out of this marriage. Donald won’t let her divorce because it would hurt his image (again). And he can’t divorce her even if he’s bored with her because it would hurt his image.
I still feel sorry for her.

    • swak says:

No, but when he loses this election I wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t divorce her. She’s done some damage to his campaign.

    • crtb says:

please explain why you feel sorry for her? She made herself very clear she doesn’t want or need your sorrow.

    • Pandy says:

Aw, don’t feel too sorry for her. She can go back to her bondage pictures career if this ends. I was hoping Anderson was going to ask her how she handled the attention of her girl on girl shots. That is one hard cookie. I think she passed tough cookie in the 80s.

  19. Nancy says:

What an embarrassing attempt to do damage control. She just proved that all Trump requires of a woman is a pretty face. That guy egged my poor husband on. O.M.G. This could be our next First Lady……please vote everyone.

    • naomipaige says:

And now she’s saying all the ladies are liars as well. This whole family is completely delusional.

  20. Jenns says:

She never calls him Donald. She always says “my husband”. There’s nothing personal about their marriage at all.

    • ElleBee says:

Exactly, It’s like someone pulled her aside and asked her to say some nice things about a stranger. She’s seems like a robot which would explain her lack of facial movement.

Anderson Cooper could have grilled her a bit more. I found myself thinking FINISH HER, but he never did.

      • tracking says:

She is robotic, but pretty sure she is not capable of moving her face at present.

      • crtb says:

If he had finished her, he would have played into the Trump narrative of how bias the media is and how one sided. He needed to be as neutral as possible. And that is what he did.

      • tigerlily says:

I think there are other reasons to explain her lack of facial movement. Surgical reasons, botox reasons. Her role is to be trophy wife and I suspect her expiry date is coming up. If he loses I suspect he will be cutting her loose. It is not in her best interests to be divorced….her lifestyle would suffer. Though as another poster mentioned, she is one tough cookie.

    • ElleBee says:

      @crtb I know but a girl can dream 🙁

  21. SusanneToo says:

OK, I won’t feel sorry for her if that’s what she wants. Done.

  22. Agapanthus says:

Don’t worry M, I will never, ever feel sorry for you!

  23. Carmen says:

Oh right, a 59-year-old man is never responsible for anything he says or does. It’s always someone else’s fault.
    🙄

  24. Savreien says:

    What a huge, giant weirdo.

  25. Shell says:

Someone who can be “egged on” by Billy Bush of all people should definitely be president.

  26. Jayna says:

Now it’s gone from locker room talk to “boy talk.”

And throwing Billy Bush under the bus? LOL. Donald was the one offering up and bragging. His words. The guy was 59. That makes crass bragging pervy, not boys will be boys.

Donald only ever talks about her in terms of her beauty and hotness and fake degree to elevate her. He never talks about her heart or soul or kindness, etc. He is such a shallow an.

    • boredblond says:

Maybe that’s all there is..I can’t imagine a woman with generosity, humanity, and ‘heart’ ever being with him. This was such a stupid interview..there is absolutely nothing else she could’ve said. Did anyone really think she would say anything to depart from his handlers’ ongoing script?

  27. Miranda says:

“He’s a gentleman”? Even if he isn’t a serial groper (and I’m sure he is), “gentleman” is the last word I’d use to describe Donald Trump. A gentleman would not rate a woman’s looks in her presence and encourage other men to do the same, or humiliate a woman by forcing her to work out in front of the media because she had the audacity to gain a few pounds. A gentleman would not intrude on underage pageant contestants while they were changing, or make perverted remarks about a 10 year old girl, or sexualize his own infant daughter. A gentleman would not mock the disabled, or insult an entire ethnic group, or lie with every word that comes out of his mouth. Jesus.

  28. grabbyhands says:

Like, how bad is it when you have to try and claim that your husband is basically dumber than Billy Bush?

    • CoKatie says:

Probably when you come to the realization that you’re dumber than the both of them. Sigh. Melania, you’ve got enough receipts now for a really lovely divorce settlement. Run, Melania, run!!!

  29. Who ARE These People? says:

I guess if she doesn’t leave him, her choices are to be stupid or to act stupid. Guessing the latter.

And it always leaves a bad taste when women present putting up with assholes as a sign of “strength.”

  30. Mia4S says:

Wow the work she has had done is painfully obvious in those photos. And we all know she didn’t get plastic surgery because she wanted it. That’s the face of a woman who sold her body and soul for money and position…and who knows she’s losing favour. I’d have sympathy if she wasn’t enabling a Fascist perverted sex offender.

    • eggy weggs says:

I came here just to comment on her horrible surgery. She has always looked bad (IMHO) but now it looks painful.

    • Christin says:

I remember seeing her when she pitched her jewelry line on a home shopping channel, and her face is now frozen by comparison.

While watching the interview, I kept thinking about how she was probably just trying to further extend her expiration date. After all, he’s reportedly said they need to go at 35. Oh, but the interviewer probably put those words in his mouth.

    • jwoolman says:

I’m afraid she’s passed her use-by date according to Trump’s pattern. She probably was trying to extend it. He’s really overdue for a new mistress/fourth wife. He very likely doesn’t want to win for that reason among many others, but he also doesn’t want to lose. Hence all the election-rigging talk. He wants to claim he actually won even if he loses. He did this in the primaries also, claimed it was rigged until he actually won.

    • pinetree13 says:

You know what….I actually think it’s her contacts that are making her look weird more than anything. Like those must be blue-eye contacts…the colour is really, really fake looking. I feel like it really takes her to an uncanny valley place (I mean when combined with that pulled look)

      • nicole says:

Give her a couple more years and she will be the spitting image of Jocelyn ‘catwoman’ Wildenstein, her eyes are heading in that direction.

  31. Shelllley says:

“…Don’t feel sorry for me. Don’t feel sorry for me….”
    Don’t worry, Melly. We don’t.

    • Fara55 says:

She will want people feel sorry for her once she’s divorcing Trump. Trust me she will leak some dish on him, crying over his infidelity and even nastiness towards her then.

  32. Merritt says:

Even if that were true, which it is not because Trump has never needed encouragement to say and do terrible things, Melania Trump just gave yet another reason as to why her husband is not fit to be President.

  33. Giddy says:

Poor Donald the man-child was the victim of Billy Bush the bad boy. Just imagine how all those mean generals would push Donald around in the Situation Room. Yes, this is really the guy we want controlling the use of our nuclear arsenal. Does anyone on Trump’s team believe that Melania helped this situation? Fools!

  34. tracking says:

Agree she’s an idiot, bought and paid for. And her face is beginning to look ridiculous.

  35. Luci says:

She should just stop talking…………nobody cares Melonhead!

  36. serena says:

    Oh lord.
He’s a gentleman? He respects women? Is she for real or does she really think we’re all fools? “everything was organized and put together to hurt him..” … lol no, it was real, it’s not like someone fabricated that.
And don’t even let me begin about that ‘boy talk’ BS.

  37. Jenny says:

What I find most incredible about this interview is how bad her English still is after all those years in the US. English isn’t a very difficult language to learn and she could afford the best teachers if she gave a damn, so I think her butchering of the language is a bit offensive. It’s kind of like our queen Silvia here in Sweden who after 50 years here still can’t speak Swedish properly, but Swedish is a rather difficult language to learn and Silvia isn’t the sharpest tool in the box either. Melania should be able to do better according to me. Also this election has really aged her. She looked less tired and old a year ago.

    • Chrissy says:

Actually Jenny, English is a very difficult language to learn as second language especially for adults. I have relatives who were born in Europe, worked with English speakers every day for decades and still get confused with things like tenses and especially with spelling words like, for example, through and threw. I find this especially if they speak their native language at home. I agree with you though about her poor grasp of the English language being kind of surprising especially since she must have been in the States for well over 20 years. I bet she speaks Slovenian at home with her son and maybe even with family members and friends that she spends a lot of time with.

      • Apples says:

@Chrissy – no, it’s not. English is my second language and it is a very easy language to learn. Especially, considering that it’s an international language of communication these days. English is basically 13 tenses and a vocabulary. The rest you perfect as you practice speaking.
I speak Russian and Japanese as well and the latter was much harder to learn.

      • JackieJormpJomp says:

@ apples–I’m was an ESL teacher for near a decade, and it varies greatly from person to person. Especially under pressure. I hate the Trumps, but my days, her grammar is not qa fair thing to jump on here, unless you are actively going for “passive-aggressively xenophobic” style of debate.

    • Lady D says:

English is widely considered to be the most difficult language to learn. I personally think Mandarin is harder, but the experts say it’s English.
I find it hard to believe your queen spent 50 years in Sweden and still can’t speak the language. That literally boggles my mind. Wouldn’t a person in her position especially, make learning the language of their new country a priority? You’d think after 50 years of being submersed in the language, she would have picked it up by osmosis if nothing else.

      • nicole says:

I find it strange that Angela Merkel doesnt speak english, and she is supposed to be one of the smartest ladies around.

      • Timbuktu says:

What experts? I have never ever EVER heard that English is “the most difficult language to learn”. Chinese, Icelandic, Finnish – yes, English? No. If English were that hard to learn, it wouldn’t have become the lingua franca of the international relations.
Any language is hard to learn really well, as in “read Shakespeare for pleasure and write poems or scholarly articles” in it. But English is not hard to learn well enough to give a pedestrian interview about your own life. Non-native speaker of English here, been in the US fewer years than Melania.

    • jwoolman says:

Even though Melania had a head start because she knew more than one language at least at a conversational level, many adults have lost that easy language-learning ability. Speaking the foreign language is the hardest skill to master, along with writing it. Some never really manage to speak the foreign language well enough for easy communication even after years of immersion in an environment speaking that language. (Melania actually does well enough.) Not so difficult to learn to understand the foreign language written and spoken. I can read several languages in my scientific fields and am a scientific translator into English. But my brain doesn’t do well at all trying to speak or write anything but my native language (English). I mix up the languages and freeze at actively remembering the grammar. I can often understand the other languages spoken if the speaker isn’t too rapid, except I get stuck at numbers. Can’t process those fast enough in anything but English. When teaching, I always made sure to write numbers on the board in case foreign students had the same problem.

Fortunately translation agency project managers elsewhere can read English, so they write to me in their language and I write back in English… One of them usually responded in English except one day she was in a hurry and wrote in German. So even people who write a foreign language pretty well find it’s an extra effort to write in it.

      • Timbuktu says:

Actually, new research suggests that “losing” one’s ability to learn languages with age is largely a myth.
And I completely disagree about immersion. I’ve met very very few people who did not learn a language well after a few years of immersion. Now, some people I know, who speak very good English, still have strong accents (the ability to hear a bigger variety of sounds does seem to diminish rather rapidly after 3 years of age), but they are quite good English speakers, both conversationally and professionally.
Of course it’s extra effort to write in a foreign language when you haven’t mastered it and haven’t practiced it regularly. English is my second language and I write in it just as effortlessly as in my native language, but I live in the US and practice constantly.

    • greenmonster says:

      @Jenny:

I agree. English is not that difficult to learn – not even as an adult. I just met a woman today who is taking Spanish lessons and is doing quite ok – she is in her 50’s.
I know, to some it might come more naturally, but Melania speaks as if she just picked up the language a few years ago AND is just having a couple of classes every week while still living in a non english speaking country.

    • Lady D says:

      Okay, I’m wrong. 🙂
In my defense, I was told this in high school, which was about 40 years ago.
re languages: I took a medical course a few years ago that involved a great deal of Latin. I was panicking over that part of the course, but I ended up learning it quite easily. I was in my late 40’s at the time.

  38. Anastasia says:

She sold her soul to the devil when she met and then married him. She agreed to reproduce with him to seal the deal. This is a marriage in name only.

*Looks up Trump Towers address. Orders one large case of STFU.*

  40. Apples says:

She’s just defending her meal ticket and the lifestyle she wouldn’t have had if it wasn’t for him. I think she just doesn’t care about what he goes as long as she gets to continue to live the life she had been living .

    • naomipaige says:

Right. She goes against him, and the money train stops. I believe the same goes for the whole family. Can’t go against the rich daddy. Now can they!!??!!

      • Lady D says:

According to Forbes, the 3 oldest are worth $150 mill each. Ivanka also has a very rich husband. They don’t really need him, right?

      • Sarah says:

Lady D, there’s a really unhealthy dynamic between trump and Ivanka. Did you see the video where Robin from Howard Stern called him a sexual, predator, and a Ivanka laughed and laughed? I do wonder how she was raised.

      • Lady D says:

Yes, I saw it Sarah. It made the skin on my back crawl. I wonder if Ivanka is going to let her daughter be alone with daddy.

  41. jj says:

I was watching MSNBC and they did a side by side of Melania’s and Hillary’s speech defending their husbands and Melania’s sounds exactly the same. Plagiarism?

    • Persephone says:

That’s the thing that really stuck out to me. Did no one in the Trump campaign realise that this interview would undermine their attacks on Hillary in regards to Bill’s behaviour.
Although I think most of the staff and surrogates have given up on winning and are just setting up the talking points they will be using as the basis for their future careers in punditry.

  42. Colette says:

    Donald was just a “kid”.

  43. Izzy says:

Awesome. Because the very first quality we all want in a POTUS is such weakness of character that they can be egged on to foolishness by a fratboy douchecanoe mediocre entertainment reporter. #worstelectionever

    • Trashaddict says:

What’s sadder, the fact that they attempt this convoluted logic or the fact that so many Americans believe them? Well, as my sister say, “Grab ’em by the ballots” !

Plastic surgery tends to make people look alike. Erases their natural distinguishing features and replaces it with that weird plastic look.

  47. SMD says:

For those who don’t get the Melania and Donald marriage, all you have to do is take a look at her parents. https://goo.gl/images/pfzuPk

    • antipodean says:

Good Lord, @SMD, I couldn’t believe that picture! She married her father!!!!! Only with a bigger wallet maybe? I still can’t feel sorry for her. When you marry for money, you earn every penny.

      • SMD says:

Yep! He’s just like her father in many, many ways. The article that went along with it said her father is a colorful, well known, brash and authoritarian business man. So she grew up with this dynamic.

  48. Patricia says:

I was talking to my husband about this excuse this morning. Sure, my husband has been “egged on” by other dudes to go ask for a woman’s phone number (in his distant past lol), to have a few too many drinks, to challenge the pool shark to a game at the local bar, etc. Yes men can egg each other on to certain behaviors.
But there is NO amount of “egging on” that would make a normal, decent man talk about what fun it is to assault women. My husband would never go there because it’s not within his personality or behavior. And that’s the same for the majority of men! This excuse is utter bullshit and if anything just reinforces that, when it comes to Trump, assault is part of his nature and it’s WHO HE IS!

  49. Greeneyes says:

Hubby kept laughing at me.. I kept telling him look she’s looking past Anderson’s shoulder not at him! She’s reading her answers!

    Note: *wore virginal white
*talked like a young innocent girl.
    (dirty bad stuff..).
*pink make up like a young innocent
    girl.
    * referred to Donald as one of her lil
    boys (sweet innocent mom act).

I’m surprised I didn’t have a seizure w/ the illnesses I have & all the eye rolling I did last night! Lol

Note* the few times we have seen her, no more power red. It’s been virginal white or innocent pink. Not an accident… that’s part of their PR .

  50. Tompuzzled says:

Also Melania is implying that women who come into Trump’s proximity want him to date them. So she is trying to make all women who have accused him of molesting them as women who asked for it.

    • naomipaige says:

Right. The same thing they try to do to women who have been raped. They blame them for what they were wearing. That’s the same moronic thing she is doing by trying to defend her husband.

  51. LinaLamont says:

As an aside… this is why I just can’t with celebrities:

“Our thoughts and prayers go to him and his family,” Kathie Lee Gifford
Talking about poor Billy Bush who got only $10m severance pay after having been called out for being an accessory and enabler (and proving himself to be a pig) to Trump’s pussygate fiasco.

    • jwoolman says:

Well, that’s a nice neutral sentiment. Doesn’t really mean approval. Can also mean prayers for the poor wife who has to explain piggy dad to the kids…

  52. Cate says:

Is…that pink blouse in the last picture kind of see trough and is she not wearing a bra? I mean, whatever she wants, but it looks, erm, not very ‘First Lady’ like, not that she’ll ever become one, but you know…

    • CharlotteCharlotte says:

She definitely has an undergarment of some sort because I can see that strap… But I can also see the outline of her areole and nipple. And I was scrolling though on my phone and not actively looking at all.

  53. BooBooLaRue says:

I needed a good laugh this morning *shuffles back to textbooks*

  54. LinaLamont says:

Now, there are claims that Gary Busey molested/assaulted a woman on the Celebrity Apprentice set, and, that Trump did nothing about it when it was brought to his attention.

  55. Amanda DG says:

It’s Billy’s fault? It’s the media’s fault? Huh? I don’t think the media and Trump’s contemporaries are being harsh ENOUGH on him and his grotesque behaviour. I cannot wait until this election is over and Trump can crawl back into the reality show hole he came out of…

  56. Sarah says:

That interview was an embarrassment for Melania and Anderson Cooper. She lied about trump Saying he did these things, she has no understanding of sexual assault, and cooper talks to her like she was a particularly unintelligent 5 year old and fed her answers. Ms vapid and the Ken doll. Shameful

    • nicole says:

I am usually a big Anderson Cooper fan, but his interview last night was terrible, he didnt ask any cutting questions, really soft the whole time.

  57. Bridget says:

    Oh honey.

  58. Ally8 says:

Disappointed that Anderson Cooper didn’t follow up on the immigration question. Trump had promised a press conference weeks ago (“believe me”, “she’s got it all documented”) to clear up the suspicious elements of her work visas and entries in and out of the US. So since it hasn’t happened, there’s clearly something there,

That the man railing against illegal immigrants apparently married one is worthy of questioning.

  59. MoochieMom says:

Future First Lady. Ha! Does she or he grasp how their lives will downsized and controlled? I am a middle class American and wouldn’t give up my freedom if my husband wanted to run key alone be President. Screw that. Two weeks no internet is worth the taxes. She has NO CLUE how her life might change, God help us all it doesn’t.

  60. Neo says:

I actually feel for her. Not because she married him necessarily. It’s possible that he’s nice to her… She’s clearly on his side and he seems like he’s okay with people so long as they don’t cross him or look to get paid. She lives in a nice place. She’s fed. He seems busy enough not to bother her much and she doesn’t have much else going on.

I feel sorry for her because she’s being asked to fill a spot that she’s in no way capable of filling. This is not someone who should be giving interviews. She contradicts herself and her vocabulary is limited. She didn’t sign up for this gig. She signed up for a trophy wife gig. And she’s a good trophy wife… She looks the part, publically supports her man, puts up with her husband’s shinanagans and raises their kid. You can feel bad for her for being married to a sexist douchebag but she knew what she was getting into and seems happy enough. But, man, it’s like taking a job as a hostess at a restaurant and then being told that one of your duties is to be a media spokesperson when it’s discovered that the restaurant has rats. Like, you’d try your best but youre just trying to keep your hostessing gig. She’s not trained to speak to the media, she’s not talented and, if she’s at all smart, it’s not in a way that applies to this gig… She’s certainly not Michelle Obama smart, you know. This must be embarrassing for her… Not even because the world knows her husband cheats. Just sitting there giving an interview in a second language, trying desperately to sound intelligent and independent when clearly you’re not… Must suck. I mean, denial is going to be her best friend moving forward, but a part of her is always going to know that she’s making a fool of herself. 10 to 1 she ends up with a persecution complex and then blames the 85% of Americans who don’t vote for her husband when she gets dumped in 6 years

    • LinaLamont says:

      @Kaiser
Is it okay to post this petition, here?

      http://actnow.prochoiceamerica.org/sign/161018_fop/?source=huffpo#.WAaOc84pDxB

      Huffington Post:
“NARAL Pro-Choice America, meanwhile, is urging the FOP not to defend an alleged assailant. (You can sign the petition here.) To have a police group hold a public event championing Trump after at least a dozen women say he assaulted them puts victims in an awkward situation.”
“The FOP also represents thousands of African-American police officers, many of whom have complained publicly that a largely white leadership pushed through the endorsement without getting consensus.”

      • SMD says:

I’m signing it right now Lina Lamont! Sexual assault is a criminal activity that should be denounced by every single person, agency and institutional. It is not ok, and by not outright denouncing Trump, or anyone else who engages in this activity then they are a silent party to it. It stops now!

  61. LinaLamont says:

Welp…. my post showed up in the wrong place, again. I hope people read this since it’s kind of buried in response (accidentally) to Neo (#60 above).

    It’s a petition.

  62. jferber says:

Notice that Melania got pregnant with baby Barron at the age of 35– the magical number Donald said is the time to dump women. No, she’s not dumb at all. She’s just entirely self-interested. Now, Trump, HE’S dumb. And entirely self-interested.

  63. Karina says:

I am flummoxed by Melania. Throughout the interview, she kept glancing to the left while answering Anderson’s questions. I was hoping that one of the news outlets’ “experts” would decipher her body language.

Melania talks about lawsuits because she doesn’t want her reputation tarnished. Umm…hate to break it to her, but the damage was done a long time ago. Her husband is not a kid. There is no provision in the US Constitution allowing children to assume the role of POTUS.

I concur with Melania and her husband that the elections are rigged…if (God forbid) he wins.

    • Trashaddict says:

So I think someone upthread thought she was reading a teleprompter.
But isn’t looking off and to the left a sign of lying, or has that theory been debunked?

    • Sasha says:

Karina, as I’m sure you already know, glancing to the left indicates a lie.
What I want to know is how a woman who’s been living in the US, for twenty years, manages to retain her accent perfectly, has the ability to memorize notes so obviously and yet conveys her ineptitude of the English language.
Dumb like a fox, this one.
I have to wonder if Trump, himself, buys it. Bet he does.

  64. Molly says:

Is it me, or has she had plastic surgery since the convention speech? Her face looks different. Please advise.

  65. Deeanna says:

Several websites are reporting that Trump consultants and his children wanted Donald and Melania to do a joint interview immediately after this scandal first emerged. Apparently Melania said no to that premise.

So it took 10 days to get her to agree to appear alone in support of “her husband”. Wonder what took so long? Could it have been, just maybe, negotiation of a freshly minted POST-nuptial agreement?

I don’t think Melania ever wanted “her husband” to run for president – not that what she wanted mattered to Donald J. Trump. She stayed in the background, then was likely heavily pressured to give her notorious “I wrote it myself” speech at the convention. Which resulted in a lot of public ridicule. And she again retreated.

Now, her very next public appearance is this humiliating interview. Anderson Cooper is a very skilled interviewer. But he would not have gotten any interview at all had he not agreed to avoid certain subjects during the interview – such as her original immigration status. And likely quite a few others. I think his sympathetic “How are you holding up?” approach to Melania was quite appropriate. She wanted to speak for herself in a tightly controlled environment. So he allowed her to do so……

My guess about the Trump marriage: I’d give it 2 years at the most after he loses.

  66. hey-ya says:

…so shes closing her eyes & carrying on as normal…just like Hillary did with Bill…bless the beltway…
