‘Assassin’s Creed’ second trailer features more action: will you see it?

fassy3

Back in May of this year, the first trailer for Assassin’s Creed was released and I felt… underwhelmed. This film is something of a passion project for Michael Fassbender, and he spent months filming it all around Europe, and he’s a producer on it too. I would think that this film cost a lot to make and that they need it to be a major hit. But the first trailer really wasn’t getting it done. Maybe the second trailer will do a better job? Here you go:

CB is pretty familiar with the video game and she says that this seems like a very faithful adaptation, and that it’s a rare video game that isn’t drowning in sexism and bulls—t. Fassy hand-picked Marion Cotillard for this small-ish role which you can see, and Jeremy Irons will show up anywhere there’s a paycheck. Brendan Gleeson and Michael Kenneth Williams are also in it, and I’m a big fan of both men. So… will you see this? The action in this trailer looks much better, and Fassbender really is magnetic on-screen. I worry that this will just look like a video game though?

I’m also including some photos of Fassy at the BFI London Film Festival over the weekend. He was there to support Trespass Against Us, the film about Irish “travellers” (Roma) and criminals. He chatted about how humans are a very “tribal breed.”

Yes, I love the games and from the trailers it feels like they captured what makes the games so cool to me.

  2. marshmellow says:

    No.

  3. uninspired username says:

    It’s gonna flooooop.

  4. Flan says:

No. They made a point of not including a female character in an earlier game.

Also, find the glorification of ‘cool guys’ like this quite boring, if nothing else.

  5. Connie says:

Yep i’m watching, I am so into the game

  6. Bethy says:

It’s coming out the same time as Rogue One. I’m seeing Rogue One. Sorry, Fassy.

  7. Minxx says:

I’ll definitely see it. Fassbender, Cotillard, Irons, Gleeson and it looks like a fun ride.

  8. Mia4S says:

It actually looks good and has a great cast….but that release date?? Too much audience overlap. It’s going to get slaughtered by Rogue One: Star Wars….and then the remains will be desecrated by Passengers. What are they thinking?!

I’ve played all the games so I may watch it once it come on Netflix or Amazon Prime but I just can’t get on board with Fassbender playing this part or that they’ve changed the Desmond storyline. I also read a review that has concerns like I do that they are basing too much of it in the present time and abstergo when the reason people like the games is because they are historical and you are doing most of the playing in the past and coming across real people that lives back then and real landmarks. So if the movie is more present day and just action scenes in the past I don’t think it will be very good at all.

    • Leni says:

That is exactly my concern. I have no interest in Desmond and the modern story. I also wished they had picked an actor with more Mediterranean (Altaïr or Ezio ) features, or even native American (Conner) or someone with a fascinating face-I realize am in the minority here:-)

      • Mel M says:

No I’m with you. I have no interest in t either, all you did as Desmond was run around completing puzzles for the most part and I always got so annoyed when I had to do that. Also, white red head? Ehh, no. His name isn’t even Desmond so I’m wondering if he’s just a completely different guy in which case what is the point of that? You didn’t need to change Desmond unless you wanted to add a storyline to the character that wasn’t in the games and the only reason I could see for wanting to do that would be for doing exactly what we don’t want, making the present day a major part of the film.

      • marshmellow says:

Also with you on both points. I’m surprised they even bothered with the modern storyline. Why not just keep it all in the past?

However, I probably wouldn’t see it anyway. I lost interest in the games half way through the third one. *shrug*

I will, love Fassy. I’m not into Star Wars, have no interest in anything Jlaw or Chris Pratt (that trailer did nothing for me on top of not caring for them) This trailer looks much better than the first. Also do people know they can see more than one movie?

  11. Digital Unicorn (aka Betti) says:

Will see it as it looks good but bad move to have it come out at the same time as Rogue One or anything Star Wars related, it won’t do as well as it should do if released later.

  12. ichsi says:

Nope. One Kurzel – Fassbender collaboration was enough.

  13. taradash says:

    i love him

  14. Mrs.Krabapple says:

Are movies no longer filmed in color? I hate the de-saturated colors in this trailer, so I will pass.

    • Eve says:

That’s to keep the it real, girl! Otherwise people would think they’re watching a movie based on a video game.

    I will, love Fassy
