Final presidential debate Open Post: Hosted by an Orange Meltdown

trump

Welcome to what is hopefully our final Open Post of the election cycle, although as I’m typing those words, I’m realizing that we’ll probably do an Open Post for Election Night. Election Day: only 20 days away. I’m so ready for this to be over and done with. Obviously, I’m not looking forward to this debate, mostly because I’m afraid that Donald Trump’s inappropriate behavior is escalating debate by debate. Hillary Clinton already said she felt like he was “literally stalking” her on stage during the second debate. So what is going to do for this debate? Literally pounce on her? Literally get in her face and blather on about Breitbart conspiracies?

I fear it’s going to be worse at this final debate because of the debate moderator: Fox News’ Chris Wallace. While Wallace is no Sean Hannity, he’s still a Fox News journalist, let’s face it. And I do think Wallace and Trump are going to gang up on HRC. Not that she can’t handle it! HRC has made it this far and she’s winning by a healthy margin. She can handle a lot.

What else? Here are some political stories on debate-eve: Donald Trump’s lawyer tried to explain why Trump wouldn’t have assaulted all of those ladies. The lawyer’s excuse? “Beauty is in the eye of beholder … these aren’t even women he’d be attracted to. I think what Mr. Trump is really trying to say is that they’re not somebody that he would be attracted to, and therefore, the whole thing is nonsense.” I honestly and truly cannot believe that this is still the campaign’s official line of attack: that the women aren’t “pretty enough” to be sexually assaulted. It’s appalling.

Vanity Fair also reported today that Trump and Roger Ailes have had some sort of falling out after Ailes was trying to get Trump to concentrate and focus on the big picture rather than feed into the worst fringe conspiracies. Last thing that I want you guys to ponder during the debate: why does Nigel Farage have such a boy-crush on Donald Trump? I really don’t understand.

CB and I will be tweeting tonight – you can follow me here @KaiseratCB and Celebitchy here @Celebitchy.

    Yay, thanks Kaiser –

  2. Guest says:

I am also afraid for Hillary – I know she can handle herself – but Trump is going to throw everything at her tonight.

    • mayamae says:

I agree. He’s going to be a raging maniac. And Hillary will be attacked no matter her response. If she doesn’t respond in kind, she’s weak. If she gives even 1/10th back, she’s a bitch. If she raises her voice, she’s shrill. If her voice is soft, she’s low energy with health issues.

And I’m expecting nothing from Wallace when he’s already let it be known there will be no fact checking.

      • Hudson Girl says:

Oh God, Mayamae. Your comments on how Hillary will be perceived (women in general, really) are so true it’s painful.

      • Jayna says:

Spot on. And she has to smile, but not too much and not too little, or she will be judged on that.

      • Melly says:

She also can’t sip water (like Trump) and god help us if she coughs. If she does, she’s terminally ill and health conditions disqualify her from being president.

    • Tiffany :) says:

He’s so desperate right now and he has no bottom to the depths to which he would sink in order to win. I am prepared to be disgusted.

  3. Tina says:

Nigel Farage has a crush on Trump in the same way as a lot of Middle Englanders have a crush on the US. Trump can be brash, he can talk about Muslims in a way that even UKIP can’t in the UK, he can be big and bold and loud and American in a way that Nigel Farage would love, love, love to be.

    • Jellybean says:

Well put. I was thinking in simpler terms – they are both w**kers and it is them against the rest.

  4. smd says:

Kaiser! Thank you! On pins and needles here in GA hoping the whole veranda crew shows up!

  5. Esmom says:

Please tell me Trump’s lawyer did NOT really say that. It can’t be a real quote. Can it?

Between this debate and the Cubs game, my eye is starting to twitch uncontrollably. Good times.

  6. LinaLamont says:

    HP headline 🙂

“TONIGHT IN VEGAS: JERK DU SOLEIL”

    @Kaiser
Yup. I agree with you. I said that earlier today in another post… Wallace has always toed the Fox line. I just don’t know if the bias/favoritism is going to be overt or subtle.
I have to say though, with Ailes out, revolution in the GOP and general disgust with & fear of Trump within the party… who knows what Fox thinks, at this point. The Reps have painted themselves into a corner and don’t know what would be better for their party. I guess we’ll find out in the first few questions.
    Ugh. I hate this election.

    • EM says:

I’m going with overt – it’s the last debate and Trump is doing poorly. He is going to do everything he can to give Trump an advantage. It’s not like Hillary can leave or whine about the bias during the debate. A long, slow and painful train wreck in 3, 2, 1…

      • LinaLamont says:

        @EM
Yeah. I thought that, too. Unfortunately, my mind goes to every scenario and every permutation every time. 🙂 Nothing would surprise me.

      • Giddy says:

So will Wallace interrupt HRC continually, and let DT do it? Will he give her much harder questions, then tell her she hasn’t answered to his satisfaction? Then will he ask the orange oil slick about his golf courses? Will he go on-stage to massage DT’s shoulders, and “accidentally” trip HRC on his way back to his seat? I say yes to all but the last, and he’ll even do that if he can get away with it.

    • Esmom says:

Yeah but no matter how biased the mod, I think Hillary can hold her own. She’s got a command of the issues, thoughtful policy positions and, you know, sanity on her side.

  7. mia girl says:

Trump brought the A listers tonight – Scott Baio is there!

I swear his guests are like the reject list from Dancing With The Stars.

  8. Guest says:

Hillary is in white – she’s looks great!!

  9. B2C says:

Hillary is in all white tonight. Good choice

  10. KiddVicious says:

I had to open the wine early, I’m way too nervous for this.

    • Guest says:

      I’m extremely nervous myself –
      Wish I could have wine

      • Lolo86lf says:

I can’t have alcohol at all. I am so very nervous for Hillary because Trump has Wallace to help him out I guess. Perhaps an ambien will help relax lol.

    • LinaLamont says:

I was going to ask if we’re doing a drinking game.
A shot every time Trump sniffs.
(I, first typed shot as “shit” by accident… either way, it works)

    • LinaLamont says:

SNIFF. Ok. I just took a shot!

    • EM says:

Have to sit this one out and just read how it’s going otherwise my blood pressure would be through the roof! Knock it out of the park Hillary.

  11. mia girl says:

Yes agree with all – love that Hilary is in white.

Strangely Melanie, Ivanka and Pence’s wife are all in black. Is this subliminal wake attire?

  12. Incredulous says:

I have no booze for this, oh bother.

  13. Incredulous says:

Tone deaf Trump right from the start.

  14. Christin says:

Did he prepare? Very, very unlikely. Tremendously unlikely. Bigly unlikely.

Side note — I early voted today (first day available in my state). It is a relief to have done that.

    • KiddVicious says:

      Yeah, he’s already rambling.

    • adastraperaspera says:

I early voted today too! Go Hill!

      • SusanneToo says:

No early voting in Alabama. That might make it too easy for hourly wage workers to cast a ballot.

      • Christin says:

I mistakenly assumed all states offered early voting. Today I discovered Virginia doesn’t have it, either, and it can be a two-hour wait on Election Day.

    • hogtowngooner says:

I voted by absentee ballot (I live in Canada) and put it in the mail yesterday. I felt truly honoured to have cast a vote for what could potentially be the first female US president. It feels like being a part of history.

  15. Lightpurple says:

Does this orange ape realize there is more than just two amendments?

    • LinaLamont says:

Nope. Yay 2nd!; Boo 19th! Party line.

I’ve said before, I know little to nothing, but, I doubt he even knows the 14th or why it applies to Roe v. Wade.

Okay. Now he thinks ripping the baby out of the womb in the 9th month is an abortion and not a birth.

    • Esmom says:

Lightpurple, I’m not sure he does. He’s trying so hard to sound as informed as she is, lol, you can see the wheels turning to try to keep up.

  16. Jayna says:

Hillary is knocking it out of the park. Trump is rambling and not very articulate and low energy.

  17. Jayna says:

Chris Wallace is doing a very good job.

  18. Karina says:

Planned parenthood does provide additional services. You got that, Hillary!

I appreciate that she is taking into account and responsibility for her decisions as a senator.

  19. adastraperaspera says:

Sad how the NRA has them babbling about the second amendment instead of immigration issues. Also, I see that Trump has his Valium self at the podium now. Sure that won’t last long.

    • Jayna says:

You are so right. It’s like he is on Valium, but we will see him escalate.

    • SusanneToo says:

      Or heavy dose Benadryl.

    • TotallyBiased says:

OR he simply ISN’T on, er, whatever he has been on previously. Since I can’t bring myself to actually watch it, how’s his sniff level?
–EDITED: never mind, I’ve read the answer further downthread.

  20. Lightpurple says:

He looks like he is going to bite her at any second.

  21. Karina says:

Does Donald actually understand what Hillary said about late-term abortions? I don’t think he quite comprehended it. He blabbered just to put up a fight against her.

  22. Karina says:

Here we go…someone is sniffing on stage again!

  23. SusanneToo says:

    SNIFF, SNIFF! It’s started!😂😂

  24. Incredulous says:

The war on drugs has never worked and will never work and STOP SNIFFING.

  25. KiddVicious says:

    He sniffs when he lies!

  26. Lightpurple says:

    SNIFF!

  27. MC2 says:

He is starting to lose it- sniff, water, looking up. His blood is starting to boil and we have a long time……

  28. Karina says:

    “Bad hombre(s)?”

What’s next word he will learn? Goondas?

  29. Giddy says:

Speaking as a shallow person, Hillary just looks so much better. Her color is good and healthy, he is a combo of pale and florid. While she answers his bottom lip comes out in a pout, or he frowns. Looking good and kicking ass HRC!

  30. Tifzlan says:

SUPERFICIAL but i really need to know what foundation Hillary is using.

  31. MC2 says:

Anyone know where a fact checker is???

  32. Lightpurple says:

    Bigly! Sniff’ Bigly!

  33. Karina says:

Hillary is fed up with Donald. Who wouldn’t be?

Donald refuses to touch the topic of undocumented workers who constructed The Trump Towers.

  34. Jayna says:

Hillary is wiping the floor with him so far.

  35. G says:

    Bigly? BIGLY?
THIS MAN IS COLLEGE EDUCATED AND HE CAN’T EVEN USE A PROPER WORD. My goooooood.

  36. Esmom says:

She is serene and confident. He is starting to panic.

  37. Incredulous says:

Donald starting to Donald, nice one Hillary.

  38. SusanneToo says:

Whee! Hillary called him a puppet!👍👍👍

  39. Jayna says:

    “Puppet.” Bam. Go, Hillary.

    • Ally8 says:

Yeah, I love that she took the gloves off in this last debate. And yeah, he’s putty (ew) in the hands of anyone who’s “nice” to him. And you know those tinpot dictators throw the best parades and provide the best lady-of-the-night-companionship for their fellow autocrats.

Btw, here’s a fun anecdote from 1990: “Then Andrew Dice Clay appeared on another giant screen to thank Donald for the Taj hookers, saying they had stamps on their asses to show they’d had their shots.” (http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2016/05/the-donald-trump-files-andrew-dice-clay-hookers) Can you imagine a Democratic candidate getting away with something like that?

  40. adastraperaspera says:

The speed Trump took is kicking in! And he’s panicking because he can’t openly criticize Putin.

He’s too much in hock to Russian oligarchs.

  41. Jayna says:

OMG I am jumping up and down for Hillary. Go, girl. Trump is a mess and is unraveling.

  42. Giddy says:

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Putin would rather have a puppet! That got to Trump, and he’s too stupid to shut up with his Putin admiration.

  43. Tifzlan says:

It was a good 20 minutes before Trump’s tranquilizers wore off and he spun out of orbit…

  44. Tiffany says:

Hey Casino…Casino….Guess what, Putin has no respect for you either. He sees you as his b*tch.

  45. Incredulous says:

What a sad, blustery, orange cretin.

  46. MC2 says:

Trickle down economics on steroids! She watched SNL!

    • MC2 says:

I still like “Trumped up, trickle down” but it didn’t really catch on.

      • Fire rabbit says:

Oooh that has just so many connotations now. Ick.

      • Ally8 says:

@Fire rabbit, oh no, you’re so right.

But yeah, I’m glad Chris Wallace brought up the ridiculous amount by which Trump’s “economic plan” would take the US into the red. It is a trickle-down fantasy. (Not that I think his team cares whether any poor or middle class family improves their income and standard of living; this is just the disproven fantasy they’re still selling.)

  47. Karina says:

Omg…guys…Donald turned from a brownish-orange to a darker tangerine color! Do you notice it too?

  48. adastraperaspera says:

He is just a rambling mess. Yay!

  49. Melody says:

    PUPPET!!!!!

  50. SusanneToo says:

Products coming in from China!! What a moronic hypocrite. That’s where his crap is made.

  51. Tiffany says:

    ANSWER A QUESTION. ANY QUESTION.

Sorry for yelling, he just fustrates me.

  52. SusanneToo says:

She’s refusing to let him interrupt.

  53. Karina says:

Donald’s tax plan gives 47% tax breaks to the top 1%. The richest will benefit with an average of $800K+ and the moderately rich get $220K+. The lower economic strata and middle-class average 0.08-1%. Some of the middle-class will actually pay higher taxes.

    🙁

  54. nothingtoseehere says:

Thank you all!!!! I am sitting here on a business trip alone in my Dallas hotel room and feeling significantly less lonely thanks to all of you.

    • Christin says:

Hope this helps you pass the time. Evenings in a hotel room while on a business trip can be the longest.

  55. Tifzlan says:

“Excuse me, my turn” – DT gets reaaaal testy when he is interrupted but has absolutely no problem interrupting her every other sentence. TYPICAL.

ALSO DID HE REALLY JUST BLAME HRC FOR THE FACT THAT HE BOUGHT CHINESE STEEL?!?!?!?!?! REALLY?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

    • Esmom says:

He did. Apparently she made it possible so why would he not take advantage of that? Same as his tax rationale. Everything’s her fault because she “should have changed the law.” Hahaha!

    • Ally8 says:

Right, so there should always be a “mommy” figure to stop him doing illicit/immoral things.

      Cause he’s a 70-year-old toddler.

Which is another reason he shouldn’t be President, where there will be so few limits on his illicit actions.

  56. Incredulous says:

    Donald Trump: Builder of Fantasyland.

  57. LinaLamont says:

“Her and Obama gave us ISIS.”

    Learn English, you dumb fuck!

  58. The New Classic says:

    I can’t with this abhorrent man. He’s a pig. 😡

  59. adastraperaspera says:

George Bush created the vacuum in the Middle East! Not Obama and Hillary! Gawd!!

  60. Karina says:

Mark Cuban gave an interview to CNN that he personally knows two women whom Donald sexually assaulted.

Donald keeps bringing issues like ISIS to deflect the attention.

  61. Melody says:

Debunked!!! Look, he learned a new word from Hillary!

    • Esmom says:

I noticed that too — he never used that word until she did. He’s like my preschoolers who copy each other!

  62. SusanneToo says:

“I did not say that.” Liar, liar.

  63. Tifzlan says:

Does it occur to anyone on DT’s campaign how f*cking IRONIC and PATHETIC it is that DT is doing the EXACT same thing to the women who came forward on being sexually assaulted by him as what he has been trotting out against the Clintons all this while? I’m so, so bewildered and upset that NO ONE HAS POINTED THIS OUT.

  64. Lozface says:

Oh my god! I am watching this debate in Australia and I am ‘bigly’ flabbergasted watching this creature!

He is an absolute disgusting creep… I can’t even fathom that there are people in the US that want this poor excuse for a human as president. He can’t even string a sentence together. Just highlights points by saying ‘very, very’ or ‘so, so’! What a douche!

Please please please vote for Hillary! I wish I could 🙁

    • Karina says:

      You got it!

    • adastraperaspera says:

She is staying on point beautifully. Love her talking about what kind of country we want to be.

    • Christin says:

Even though it sounds jumbled, the transcript form is even more disconnected. A fifth grader could speak better, and probably have more relevant points.

      • lozface says:

Scary isn’t it? It’s just rambling. How on earth he gets a pass for that display is ridiculous.

    • Giddy says:

I already voted for Hillary in early voting. It felt good!

    • Kath says:

I know – I am in Australia too and am watching in horror.

      • lozface says:

How scary is it? It’s amazing how it gets so much coverage here. I have been totally intrigued by it all. Scared and intrigued.

    • Alix says:

@Lozface, on behalf of America, I’m embarrassed that our dirty campaign laundry is out there for the world to see. The fact that Trump is actually, in the real world, a candidate for POTUS is… shameful.

      • lozface says:

It seriously scares me. I know a lot of people say: ‘it’s not your country, it’s none of your business’ but sadly it does impact everyone.

It will impact the world economy and political relations worldwide. I feel for you wonderfully smart and tolerant people who have to put up with this.

Even our conservative Prime Minister didn’t meet up with Trump when he was in the US and only met with Obama and Clinton.

        Here’s hoping sanity prevails!

  65. Jayna says:

Hah. People in the audience laughing when Trump said no one has more respect for women than he does.

Stop deflecting with your answers, Donald. Answer the question at hand.

  66. Karina says:

The audience laughs at Donald Trump saying, “Nobody…Nobody has more respect for women than I do.” Do gentlemen who respect women label them as dogs, pigs, mock, rate them, and worse?

The answer is a vehement NO.

  67. Karina says:

Donald cannot even pronounce Qatar! He rhymed it with Guitar. LOL

  68. Kath says:

Nigel Farage has a crush on Trump because deluded narcissistic racist arseholes stick together.

  69. LinaLamont says:

    PSYCHO! PSYCHO! PSYCHO!
You can’t argue with a PSYCHO!

  70. SusanneToo says:

    #whinylittlebitch

  71. Christin says:

When I was sitting in my hotel room — a very luxurious one, with tremendous fake gold fixtures, the best…

Made with Chinese steel — BOOM!

  72. Incredulous says:

Donald Trump: The dog ate my election.

  73. adastraperaspera says:

Wallace: Will you accept the outcome of the election?

Trump: I will look at it at the time. I will tell you at the time.

    OMG

  74. Esmom says:

Has there ever been a presidential where a legit question is “will you accept the result of the election?” HRC is so right when she says it’s appalling that we’re even talking about it. He is indeed denigrating our democratic tradition.

    • adastraperaspera says:

He should be disqualified for this. I wish he could be. Appalling. Treasonous.

      • Bonzo says:

NYT’s Nicholas Kristof tweeted that in a high school student body election, a candidate that refused to promise to accept election results would be disqualified.

      • Annetommy says:

And with the odd exception, the GOP hierarchy are ignoring this outrageous statement. They should make it clear that he is no longer their official candidate.

    • Karina says:

If God forbid, the tangerine wins, we will know that this election is really rigged.

      • Alix says:

Seriously, the fact that this d-bag is a candidate for president just shows you what a sick, disturbed nation we’ve become. He’s the most alarming symptom imaginable.

The WHOLE WORLD is watching this rabid buffoon stump for the presidency this evening, because a big chunk of the country, incredibly, supports him. Not feeling especially proud to be an American right now…

    • MC2 says:

I am wondering about this kind of talk……when I took civics class I was taught this was not okay. He would rig the election if he could……this is such a mockery.

  75. Tifzlan says:

I am in shock that DT is on that stage, saying that he will not accept the results of the elections unless he wins. In one of the most prominent democracies in the world… this is where you’re at America. And i’m saying this as someone who comes from a country who hasn’t had a peaceful transition of power since independence (same party in power since 1957).

  76. Giddy says:

He’ll tell us at the time he loses whether he accepts his defeat or not! A peaceful transition of power means nothing compared to little Donnie’s hurt feelings.

  77. Karina says:

    Donald: STOP calling my stupid!

  78. noodle says:

the problem with donald is that he blames her for everything. does he know how government works?
Hillary is crooked and her team is running a sleazy campaign, sure donald. sure. WRONG

ETA – i must say i’m impressed with Chris Wallace. he seems to be pretty neutral

    • SusanneToo says:

That’s the question Wallace needs to ask – Mr. Trump, do you have any f**king idea how government works???

      • Esmom says:

I could actually see him asking that, lol.

      • Kath says:

The guy who REALLY wrote that ‘Art of the Deal’ book says that Trump has never read a book in his adult life.

Another insider said that Trump has no clue about civics nor the basic structure and functioning of government.

The idea that you can appoint a ‘special prosecutor’ and have your political rivals thrown in gaol? The guy obviously thinks that he lives in Zimbabwe, not the US.

      • Ally8 says:

There were moments when HRC was explaining something (e.g. Mosul is on the border with Syria) where you could literally see Trump learning something, with a sort of ‘huh, really? good to know’ expression on his face.

The Art of the Deal co-author’s New Yorker article is one of the best on the whole Trump vacuum: http://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2016/07/25/donald-trumps-ghostwriter-tells-all

    • Jayna says:

He’s interviewed Hillary on Fox for this election and was fair.

I think he went out of his way to be very fair and to press on answers in this debate. I think he did an excellent job.

  79. Jayna says:

Let me just say it again. Hillary is killing it tonight. She’s on fire.

    • Esmom says:

Jayna, yes. She has been masterful at answering the questions but also pivoting gracefully to other issues and expanding the discussion to give everyone a better sense of her vision. She is incredibly broad ranging, while Trump basically has ISIS, emails, second amendment, and very very bad.

      She crushed it.

      • SusanneToo says:

I’m watching CBS and the undecided panel was just interviewed. One woman said she decided on trump tonight because “he had a better grasp of the issues.” Speechless!

      • Jayna says:

@SusanneToo, she was yugely, bigly impressed with his grasp of the issues. LOL

  80. Incredulous says:

Even the Fox Moderator calling Trump out for being wrong. What is this madness?

  81. Esmom says:

I love how Wallace basically dismissed Trump’s little rant about Syrian refugees and calmly moved on to asking Hillary a serious question.

  82. adastraperaspera says:

Just a few more minutes, Hillary!

Never thought I would ever have anything to thank Chris Wallace for. Guess the Mike Wallace genes are coming through at last!

  83. Tifzlan says:

His diatribe on Syrian refugees is so hateful and appeals to the worst stereotypes and perceptions of Syrians that his base holds on to. Notice how at the end, he said that “most Syrians most probably align with ISIS” with NO credible proof of this claim whatsoever. Why doesn’t ANYONE ask him – what sort of proof do you have to make these very dangerous claims? It’s unbelievable.

  84. Esmom says:

You can almost see the relief in Trump’s face as they’re nearing the 90 minute mark, he’s just glad to be done.

  85. Little Darling says:

Guys I was asked to come to work tonight early because the HP couple was throwing an event.

    ITS A FREAKING REPUBLICAN FUNDRAISER!!

  86. Lightpurple says:

Something totally superficial; Hillary has lovely hands.

  87. Karina says:

I want to know how many times Donald has interfered and interrupted the debate. Bloody fool.

    • Ally8 says:

It was inspirational how she didn’t let Trump (or Wallace) disconcert her while he tried to talk over her. Will use in future office meetings with Trump types.

  88. noodle says:

well, as long as he creates tremendous jobs…

  89. MC2 says:

    Closing statement!!!! Get it HRC!

    • Karina says:

Hillary knows what to do and say. She can and she will!

Donald just killed his last chance at a coherent response without a blame game.

  90. MC2 says:

A lot of illegal immigrants take care of vets more then Trump……they pay taxes.

  91. SusanneToo says:

    Loathsome slimeball.

ETA. Did that guy just remove notes from trump’s podium? His cheatsheet?

  92. Giddy says:

Trump just called Hillary a nasty woman. A trillion points deducted from Slytherin!

  93. DanaG says:

The pussy grabbing question wasn’t asked and all these women are liars. He is lucky he hasnt been struck by lightning he just says stuff with no proof. Still avoiding the tax issue yet again… I hope people see Trump for what he is.

    • Ally8 says:

I loved that she came armed to fact check him on the spot with his own quotes.

      DT: “I never said that.”
      HRC: (reads out quote)

So he was caught on video in front of everyone lying outright.

She did bring up the Chinese steel twice, which is such a great point for all those manufacturing workers who think this guy is capable of creating, or caring about creating, a single job.

  94. KiddVicious says:

I have to say I’m impressed with the moderator. He did a great job.

    • Incredulous says:

He really did, even the audience behaved.

    • Ally8 says:

Meh, a lot of those questions were framed in a very Fox News kind of way.

E.g. Asking Trump “why might all these women be saying this about you?” is the most softball question re: the sexual inappropriateness/assaults. It’s basically setting up Trump to posit theories as to why they might be lying. Instead, he might have said: Nine women have come forward confirming the things you were caught on tape saying you did. Why should we disbelieve them and your own statement?

      • North of Boston says:

I got the same sense, Ally. He tried to stay the course, but the framing of the questions sort of tipped it for me. Plus I couldn’t quite figure out what his rules of engagement were as far as time keeping and managing the flow of comments. He kept saying Secretary Clinton, let him speak, when The Donald was interrupting her, but he let many of Trump’s interjections/interruptions go without comment. Though, TBH when all three of them were trying to be heard at the same time, I kind of tuned them all out. At least she didn’t say “it’s *my* turn” like Trump did several times, sounding like that annoying kid on the playground who always wanted to be first on the slide or the swings. Hill’s a grownup, Donald, she doesn’t need to whine like you.

fivethirtyeight has a chart of interruptions and Trump was way out in the lead.

      • North of Boston says:

Quick update: Hillary Clinton just said, during a press Q & A on her campaign plane, she thought Chris Wallace did a good job, so I guess he passed the test.

  95. Snoopy says:

Trump: “voting for her is 4 more years of Obama”…. sign me up!

    • KiddVicious says:

      I know, right!?

    • MC2 says:

RIght?! I thought our country has done pretty well from where we were 8 years ago teetering on economic collapse and facts agree (standard of living is up & crime is down).

    • Ally8 says:

Obama has double the approval ratings of either DT or HRC, so yeah, that line was an unwitting/witless gift to Clinton.

    • Lucy2 says:

It cracks me up he thinks that is an insult. Hillary should thank him for repeating that several times now.

      • Betsy says:

He is speaking purely to his base now, and since his base thinks the President is a Kenyan born Muslim and the anti-Christ… more to the point, I think his base cannot believe a black man just sat in the Oval Office for eight years.

    • Tate says:

      Sounds good. I’m in!

  96. Little Darling says:

Trump: I love all women, I truly do. They’re one of the most intelligent species on the planet. Except this one. She’s evil.

    • Ally8 says:

Josh Barro had a great comment about how Trump’s “no one respects women more than me” schtick should be understood as “everyone respects me more than women”.

See Giuliani’s actual comment: “Don’t you think a man who has this kind of economic genius is a lot better for the United States than a woman?” For these troglodytes, her very gender is disqualifying from any position of authority.

Whereas any rich white dude who walks into a room: automatically a genius!

    • North of Boston says:

      “Except this one…

oh, and Rosie O’Donnell, and Condi, and those eight, I mean nine, I mean 10….
and Marla. And Megyn Kelly, and that Miss Universe whatever her fatass name was, and Ginsberg, and, and, and….”

  97. MC2 says:

I must have missed Obama’s half brother jumping out of the cake- anyone got it on video?

  98. SusanneToo says:

Is that Kareem on Hillary’s side I saw. And Ed Begley?

  99. Karina says:

For a third time, the scenario plays out again wherein Hillary proceeds to meet her family and the members of the audience while Donald surrounds and lingers by his family.

    • MC2 says:

And then he bolts right away while she works & meets with people. Then he tweets that she didn’t have stamina from his hotel while she is at a gathering of supporters.

    • KiddVicious says:

I noticed he didn’t kiss his wife or Ivanka but he did give Tiffany a peck on the cheek. Then they all just stood there like uncomfortable guests at a party.

    • Ally8 says:

The whole world divided into people who are “nice” to him and “mean” to him, and no one enables him like his relatives/dependents. Also, he’s a germophobe, apparently, so he probably doesn’t like shaking hands with strangers. Such bravery!

  100. Jayna says:

I can’t believe he interjected, calling her a nasty woman. Isn’t that what he said? I’m trying to remember exactly what he interjected while she was speaking. Even the audience was aghast at what they heard.

  101. MC2 says:

God- a Mel Gibson movie ad now!!!!

  102. wood dragon says:

Palin and her wig were there too, I noticed.

  103. Incredulous says:

Also, has anyone noticed Trump has managed to disguise his racism by changing an N to an R when talking?

  104. Sam says:

I can’t even make jokes about this man anymore. He literally said he won’t concede if he doesn’t win. That’s not how our democracy works. All those conservatives who keep quoting the constitution and youre going to vote for a candidate that won’t even follow the democracy that was set forth by it. Then again the only amendment that Trump knows about is the second.

    • adastraperaspera says:

Sickening spin coming out of the Trump camp to avoid the fallout. Don’t think it’s going to work this time. It’s even front page on the Clinton-hating Wall Street Journal website now.

    • MC2 says:

I think this is how he will try & get ratings for some new media adventure he’ll start with Roger Ailes. Because the media is so rigged his will expose the ‘truth’ and I fear Fox will look like the honest one. He will milk it and doesn’t care about protecting his political career like every other politician would- he cares about keeping interest in his brand. He would take/steal the presidency if he could but he’s looking at his next fame whore jump off project…..so I worry that he won’t be going anywhere for a while. Thanks GOP!

  105. LinaLamont says:

Hillary’s already been called the winner.

  106. Alix says:

I will forever love Time magazine for those two covers.

  107. Guest says:

Watching msnbc and – they think Hillary won! Although it was said the first 20-30 mins the bafoon trump did well.

Thanks you great ladies – I followed the debate through your posts – and Kaiser on Twitter!!

I’m already fuming after reading what he said about the election and what he called Hillary at the end – what a YUGE pig!!

  108. Guest says:

Aren’t trumps surrogates the worst – Giuliani on top of the list and then there’s scottie Hugh’s and the other one I can’t remeber her name – they are aKeats on CNN

  109. LiterallyaShambles says:

The facebook-deleting spree is so real tonight. Thank you Trump for pulling the masks off of all the disgusting people in my life.

  110. Tiffany says:

Let’s see. Get up and vote on 11/8 @ 7am to vote. Then leave the country for a few days. I am thinking Amsterdam. Eh, I got a few days to think about it.

  111. Jade says:

Ooh Republicans, so it’s fine that Trump threatens to undermine your constitutional rights to a democracy, free speech and to vote, not to mention support bigotry, racism and sexism?

At this point, I think Republicans and evangelicals who support him will only condemn him if he says he is going to take away their constitutional right to arm themselves. Will this do? If yes, then your fellow Americans really care more about their guns than their womenfolk, common decency and their democracy. Make America Great indeed. Native Americans have a lot more of their America to take back.

  112. Ally8 says:

#BadHombres is trending on Twitter. 193K tweets and counting.

Also do yourself a favor to giggle before bed and check out the hashtag born of this tweet: “Trump’s foreign policy answers sound like a book report from a teenager who hasn’t read the book. “Oh, the grapes! They had so much wrath!”” from Antonio French

    #TrumpBookReport

  113. Karina says:

Lest we forget, the root of Donald Trump’s insipid tactics at the debate happened because #BillyBushMadeHimDoIt

  114. Nibbi says:

God I hope he goes and hides under a rock when this is finally over.
What a national humiliation to have had him front and center like this for so long.

    • Soror Bro says:

      Indeed.

      • Karina says:

Sadly, I doubt that even a smidge of humility exists in DT. When asked by the moderator whether he would concede if lost the election, Donald defiantly said that he would “keep you in suspense.”

  115. Hazel says:

I watched the whole thing last night & this morning I’m watching the news in middle America & the local news said it was a draw, or at best, a slight lead for Hillary. What debate was this guy watching??!! She wiped the floor with him!

    • mbh12 says:

Hillary cleaned his clock. Knocked him out with fact after fact about HIM, using HIS OWN WORDS!

When she basically called Donald a Putin Puppet ,said Putin wants a Puppet, that’s why he likes Donald. I heard my whole apartment building cheer.

  116. Curtis says:

Looks like Undecided voters thought Donald won. I guess they are the ones that will make the difference in a few weeks.
