The Critics Choice Awards helped solidify some of the acting races. While everyone has said that the Best Supporting Actress Oscar is Viola Davis’s to lose, I still had my doubts that the big award shows would recognize her work in Fences. But last night she picked up the supporting actress award, the sole Critics Choice Award for Fences (you can see the full list of winners here). So… yeah, I do think Viola will end up beating out actresses like Nicole Kidman and Michelle Williams and Naomie Harris for the big awards, even if those actresses pick up some of the smaller awards. For the first stop in her victory tour, Viola chose this gorgeous blue Michael Kors dress which shows off the fact that Viola has a killer figure. Amy Adams presented Viola Davis with the #SeeHer Award, plus Amy was nominated for Best Actress for her role in Arrival. Amy wore this completely boring white Versace. I love Amy, I think she’s adorable, but how in the world does she make a slinky Versace dress so boring?!?
Nicole Kidman in Brandon Maxwell… well, at least it isn’t a pale lace dress, I guess. I’m not into this because I generally have an aversion to abdomen cut-outs. I might have really liked this without the cut-out.
Michelle Williams lost to Viola, but I think she knows that will be her awards season. Michelle wore Louis Vuitton, no surprise, and seemed to be showing off a newly shorter and even more extreme white-blonde hair style. Yeah… I’m still not into it. That white-blonde makes her look like a ghost. Michelle’s date was her BFF Busy Philips, and they didn’t bother coordinating their outfits – Busy wore Martha Medeiros.

Amy in her dress is heavenly, Viola’s needed to be belted.
Amy is looking Movie Star. The dress emphasizes her straight shoulders. There is a photo of her with others, and your eye goes straight to her. Deportment counts.
Amy is lovely. I think that dress might have looked more impressive if her hair had been more lose or bigger to provide a contrast colour.

Nicole so needs to go back to strawberry blonde/red. This straw color looks fried and totally washes out her skin tone.
Amy looks amazing, but I think the dress would’ve been a total killer in a jewel tone (which she can carry off to perfection with her skin).

Busy’s dress is horrible! Looks like a Christmas tablecloth. If you change the neckline and got rid of the layers, it *might* work. Didn’t DoC wear that same dress last week??
I agree that Michelle’s hair color is too white. She looks so much better when it’s more golden.

Kudos to Nicole Kidman for being able to wear an abdomen cut out at 49, but I too automatically dislike dresses with them.

That color is amazing on Viola. I feel like the top is ill fitting though, it looks uncomfortable across the chest and under the arms. Distracting to me.
I had hair like Michelle’s back in the 90’s. Back then it was a Kelly Taylor look. I loved it.

I would love to see Amy’s hair down but she is stunning in that dress and not boring at all. I really don’t get the casual dig at her. I appreciate her elegance. Viola is also beautiful. That blue is lovely.
Hubby and I put on a movie the other night, which we had never heard of before. I looked it up on Rotten Tomatoes and it had an 80% fresh, so we thought we would give it a try. It was called The Family Fang and starred Nicole Kidman and Jason Bateman. It was terrible! But the point is, I turned to my hubby and said “was Nicole Kidman always an awful actress, or has she gotten worse, as the years go by”…so, I’m asking all of you…has she just gotten worse over the years or what?
By the way, I’m never believing a Rotten Tomatoes score again!!!!
She’s always ben hit or miss for me. Really enjoyed To die for or Dead Calm or Rabbit Hole.
But never bought her performances in Cold Mountain or (unpopular opinion) Moulin Rouge.
And last year I watched The secret in their eyes, and another rarely shared opinion, Julia Roberts delivered a far more convincing performance.
She’s one of my favorite actresses, I think The Family Fang was just too weird but I think she did fine.
