What a story she lived. RIP, Zsa Zsa.

“The only way to learn a language properly, in fact, is to marry a man of that nationality. You get what they call in Europe a ‘sleeping dictionary.’ Of course, I have only been married five times, and I speak seven languages. I’m still trying to remember where I picked up the other two.” – Zsa Zsa Gabor

    One of a kind.

Ha ha! One of a kind.

“I am a marvelous housekeeper. Every time I leave a man, I keep his house.”

“I want a man who’s kind and understanding. Is that too much to ask of a millionaire?”

“How many husbands have I had? You mean apart from my own?”

      “Macho does not prove mucho.”

She was full of excellent little bon mots.

My favourite one is “You never really know a man until you divorce him”. I learnt this the hard way after my divorce. She was 100% right!

  4. Miss Grace Jones says:

This kind of stuff is why I don’t find SNL funny. Well that and I just don’t laugh at their skits. They had a huge hand in normalizing Trump by having him on, then turned around and made like they didn’t have him on the show and like they were so anti fascism and to show how liberal they are. Now they’ve got this rapist on the show who I’m sure if anything happens they’ll turn around and laugh about how pro women they are.

    • Jenns says:

I agree. Although I like how they are going after Trump(because it drives Cheeto crazy), that doesn’t take away from that fact that they asked him to host. As for Casey Affleck, he’s always been gross to me.

However, I will say that the Hillary Actually sketch was perfection. Kate McKinnon herself is perfection in this skit.

So funny. So true… wish the electors would have just asked for
an extension to get more info.

    • Lalu says:

I figured they wanted him to win so they would have something to talk about for the next four years.
I don’t think they played any part in getting him elected, though. Does anyone even watch that show anymore? I know I haven’t since high school.

    • lightpurple says:

Can we please stop calling people “rapist” when they are not rapists? Sadly, there are enough actual rapists in this world as it is. His behavior was disgusting and wrong but it was not rape.

ETA boycott him and his work if you want. Call him out for what he actually did. But we do not help ourselves when we mislabel. Sexual harassment is bad. It can be horrifying. In the workplace, it is illegal. But it is not rape.

      • Lingling says:

No one will listen. It’s like the families of holocaust survivors begging people to stop cheapening they’re suffering by calling him Hitler.

I’m 100% against trump, but insulting the people we need to vote on our side next time, calling sexual harassment rape, tossing around the word Hitler and the several “racist attacks” that were proved to be fake help no one.

If we want Trump out we need to change our attitude, look at how we got here and prove that we’re not just screeching head spinning liberals. Because for each grandiose comparison and insult that is hurled we really are just validating the choice people made in voting for him.

We need to actually have the moral high ground and be right, not just scream it in people’s faces.

      • Miss Grace Jones says:

Oh I’m sorry I meant to type ‘attempted rapist’ and abuser. Didn’t mean to offend your hypersensitive semantic sensibilities. * eyeroll*

      • lightpurple says:

@Miss Grace Jones, actually several people I know, who were raped, would have been quite offended and that goes far beyond any hypersensitive semantic sensibilities I may have.

      • Rascalito says:

You mean about calling Donald Trump a rapist? Except he did actually rape someone, a 13 year old girl to be specific. At a Jeffrey Epstein party in 1994. Epstein himself served a year in a Florida prison for paying an underage girl for sex at the parties Trump used to go to at Epstein’s Upper East side Manhattan home. Unfortunately the statute of limitations had passed for criminal charges to be filed against Trump, but a judge agreed there was enough evidence in this case for it to go to a civil court trial, and had been scheduled for a December 16th status conference where the lawyers involved and the judge would discuss it further.

But I was so heartbroken to read that the girl, who’s now a 35 year old woman, cancelled the conference where she was planning to reveal her identity because of the death threats being made against her from Trump supporters. She’s been so terrified about it that she even withdrew from her own case against Trump. And now she has to watch her revolting rapist become president of the United States as his deranged supporters do everything they can to protect him.

Even his own ex wife Ivana accused him of raping her during their marriage.
So it’s perfectly fine to call Trump a rapist, because that’s exactly what he is. In fact, it’s NECESSARY to always refer to him as a rapist, because it should never, ever be forgotten.

And now today on December 19th, the entire world has to watch in disbelief and disgust and horror as this racist, moronic, compulsively lying, thieving, rapist piece of human garbage is chosen by the electoral college to become the next president. This whole sh*t show is just so “unpresidented”! As Michael Bloomberg said at the Democratic National Convention… “God help us!”

And just as an aside, I’m 41 now, and have been raped twice in my life, after also being molested by one of my own parents for 8 years when I was growing up. I’ve been very unlucky in this part of my life, but silence or politeness about it is not the answer. My own entire family chose to turn against me rather than believe me, so I haven’t talked to them since I was 15 years old, which was 26 years ago, and I never will again. Some things, like being raped and child sex abuse, are worth standing up against, no matter what the cost.

      • Lalu says:

Rascalito… Truly sorry to hear you were betrayed like that. Especially by family members at such a young age. That’s very unfair.

      • lightpurple says:

@Racalito, she was calling Casey Affleck, not Donald Trump, a rapist. So sorry for all you experienced. And yes, those crimes are worth standing up against, I did not say otherwise, but we should identify them accurately.

      • Nancy says:

Rascalito: I just looked up the disturbing story. She (I won’t say her name) filed and dropped a civil suit in June, reopened and dropped again in November due to finances. Epstein is a known pedophile which in my estimation alone is proof of this trump person and his perverted lifestyle and association with criminals. He attended many of his parties with young ladies who wanted to pursue acting or modeling careers. They were young, uneducated and duped by these monsters. I’m going to research it further but it is a moot point. He is like the Teflon Don, nothing sticks. This was so long ago, and people have been bought off or disappeared in fashions I can’t bear to think about. I am so sorry you suffered so terribly. It is despicable and my heart aches for you. You are obviously an intelligent woman who survived the worst of the worst. Keep fighting and know you are loved. You are a victim but don’t let them take away your spirit. Stay strong. May we pray for a Christmas miracle that trump be exposed and finally, you, the women and her friend he allegedly abused, and all other victims of these animals will be vindicated.

      • Lena says:

        Isn’t sexual harassment always illegal?

      • Nancy says:

It is Lena, according to a 1964 law, but generally applicable in the work place. The trump and Epstein case is so complicated. He said, she said. Billionaires v. a then 13 year child at the party of a flamboyant rich man promising her a career, and she and her friend not realizing he was a ped. Like I said above, I have to know the details but if this occurred in 1994 and he is now president elect, chances are slim to none we will not be reading much about this story and slim just left town. I have to use the term allegedly, because if he is walking the streets, he was never charged. Ugh……I need a bubble bath.

      • Miss Grace Jones says:

@Lightpurple that’s interesting because myself who has been molested and subjected to sexual harassment as well as my friends who have been the victim of rape(s) and attempted rape would say that your hand wringing over semantics is exactly as hypersensitive to a smaller issue as I said before and that your attempt to invoke some kind of guilt in me for bringing up your experiences as if they trump all others opinions is shallow and transparent. Thanks for playing.

      • lightpurple says:

@Lena, no, sexual harassment is not always illegal. Check your state laws and talk to your state legislators about that. Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 only applies to employment issues.

@MissGraceJones, what is interesting? No, I was not trying to invoke any kind of guilt in you and I did not bring up my experiences at all. ETA BTW, I’m an attorney who handles sexual harassment cases. Those semantics you dismiss as hypersensitive, matter a great deal in a courtroom.

      • Jess says:

        @Miss Grace Jones

lightpurple is absolutely correct here, and tbh your “Didn’t mean to offend your hypersensitive semantic sensibilities” comment read exactly like some conservative anti-pc person telling someone to stop being so sensitive…
As for Affleck, he was accused of sexual harassment. As a woman who has been sexually assaulted but not raped, it is unthinkable to conflate harassment with rape. The degree of violation is completely different, and putting them both in the same category only serves to trivialize rape.

It’s okay to admit you were wrong and take this as a learning experience.

      • Anna says:

@Rascalito Thank you, thank you, thank you with all my heart for your words here and for speaking out. I appreciate all you have said here more than words can say. Your voice gives me (and so many of us) strength to move past fear and speak my truth. Sending light and love to you.

Confession About three years ago I told a co worker Zsa Zsa was dead.OOPS
    RIP

    • Nancy says:

I thought so as well. I don’t know much about her but it seems she had an eventful full life. I do remember Eva Gabor on reruns of Green Acres. They looked and spoke very much alike. End of an era I guess. My Godmother lived to 105. Can’t even fathom that thought. RIP Zsa Zsa

    • Erinn says:

I remember a while back she was in VERY bad shape. I don’t think she’s been healthy for years, to be honest. I was actually kind of surprised that she only passed now; I had assumed after the bad health issues from before, that she hadn’t lived much longer afterwards.

      • PortlandJan says:

I hope that she comes back to haunt her dbag husband every might for the rest of his life. He allowed photos to be published of her, after she’d had a stroke and showing her disheveled, haggard and barely aware of her surroundings. Ms. Gabor NEVER allowed herself to be seen in public unless she was impeccably coiffed and dressed.

  6. Ramona says:

2016 strikes again. Questionable human being Kirk Douglas gets his 100th but Zsazsa leaves us at 99. I’m just glad she lived a long and unapologetic life. RIP

  7. nicegirl says:

I will NEVER FORGET when Zsa Zsa slapped that cop, it was BIGLY type news. She went to court and everything.

My sister was so little back then and she would say, when she got upset, “well, slap my face and call me Zsa Zsa!” and I would always say to her, “no, jackie, it was the cop who got slapped, Zsa Zsa did the slapping!” and she just kept on, ‘slap my face and call me Zsa Zsa!” it cracked me up so much I am laughing about it right now. I guess you had to be there but it was HILARIOUS

    RIP

    • Sue says:

ZsaZsa claimed she never hit the cop and that the cop lied and actually hit her! She claimed at one point he told her to “f… off” and she thought that meant to drive away – so she did. That’s when the cop arrested her. Knowing what we now know about some (not all) officers, maybe she was telling the truth.

  8. Umm says:

Oh Gabor Sari, you’ll be missed! The unofficial Queen of Hungary.

  9. Harryg says:

Gabor’s memoir is awesome! On the cover it says something like “translated to readable English by so and so”. It’s very good.

    • Addison DeWitt says:

I love her first memoir ‘My Story’. The second one was too sensationalized. The first was glamorous and classy. And of course there was Mama Jolie’s…

  10. Lady D says:

    Princess Victoria’s dress is stunning.

  11. Cel2495 says:

    “Nacho does not prove mucho”

  12. Happy21 says:

Ariel Winter!?! What the hell are you thinking, parading around like that with children? There is a time and a place for everything girl and a santa claus parade or whatever the children’s function you were at, is NOT the place for mini dresses and plunging necklines. This girl does need a stylist. Good lord!

  13. Lama Bean says:

Rita Ora doesn’t look like Rita Ora because she looks like Christina Milian.

  14. Lambda says:

Quite a horrid day, actually. Best thoughts to all the Berliner (and all the German) readers around here.

  15. AnotherDirtyMartini says:

I just read on Zsa Zsa’s IMDb page that she and her sister Magda both married the same man, George Sanders. I’m curious about that back story.
