We spent much of 2015 waiting for Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez’s divorce announcement. It finally came in October 2015, and there were a few weeks of drama, with accusations being lobbed back and forth, much of what we’ve come to expect from Halle in particular. But then something strange happened: Halle and Olivier started to put aside their bitterness and drama. They went on vacation together. They figured out a way to co-parent their son amicably. There was little to no gossip about them throughout 2016. I actually wondered if they were getting back together. But no. They were just quietly working out their divorce, apparently.
Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez are officially single … and he agreed to let her say, “I left you!” Halle and Olivier filed for divorce at almost the exact same moment back in October 2015 … she filed as the petitioner and he also filed as the petitioner seeking a divorce. Under California law only one person can be the petitioner, and Olivier agreed to give Halle the honor.
Under the settlement, they will share physical and legal custody of 3-year-old Maceo. For some reason, they decided to only deal with the custody issues and the property settlement is still unresolved. It’s weird, because our sources say there’s a prenup so there shouldn’t be big issues. Halle and Olivier married in 2013.
I always suspected that Olivier was hellbent on marrying Halle because he saw firsthand the hell she put Gabriel Aubry through over custody of Nahla. One of Halle’s arguments against Gabriel was that since they weren’t married, he had little to no custodial rights for Nahla. Olivier was in a different situation because he and Halle married, and I imagine Halle would have found it harder to go through another bitter custody battle so soon after the thing with Gabriel. So…. I’m cautiously optimistic about this. Granted, it could still blow up into some huge divorce/custody battle, but it sounds like they handled their business quietly and calmly. We’ll see!

This is how you do divorce and custody as a celebrity couple. Go underground. Fix your personal relationship, resolve the custody, prepare the kids, establish a new normal and then pull the trigger. Also, pull the trigger when it is least likely to get attention. The holidays. I do believe this is the Garner Affleck strategy as well.

I think Halle learned a little from her first bitter custody battle. AJ and Brad should take notes. STFU about each other and straighten this crap out, at least for the sake of their kids.
Like usual I agree with you. Both of these woman are on divorce number three. Seems by now they’d have it down. Halle seems to be catching on, but never had the perfect couple syndrome to contend with. No such thing exists as a perfect couple.
Well to be fair there weren’t custody issues with AJ’s first two divorces and this one was thrust into public whether they liked it or not thanks to the plane incident. Halle did a lot worse than AJ is doing now in her first custody go around with Aubry.

Maybe it is going ok. We haven’t heard anything in quite some time. What if Halle, Olivier and Gabe all went to counseling but they just kept it out of the media.
That’s why I find it strange that so much info is being leaked about the Jolie/Pitt therapy sessions.

I think Hallie realized the public was none too thrilled over the way she treated Gabriel after their split, accusing him of abuse (from what i remember) and of abusing and neglecting Nahla. That clearly wasn’t the case at all, she was just using Nahla as a pawn to get back at Gabriel and saying he was just a sperm donor. I often wondered if he initiated the split which would explain why she unleashed her fury on him. Luckily the judge in the case saw reason and allowed Gabriel to have access to his daughter.
Halle definitely tried to alienate Olivier at first in the initial divorce proceedings but either she had an epiphany or Olivier or whoever told her to knock it off. They got married, she couldn’t use the sperm donor argument so she tried the “macho man is jealous of my career and success” which just seemed silly and petty and nobody bought it. You can only play the victim so many times before we recognize a pattern. I’m glad she finally went quiet, her kids don’t need that drama in their lives.
I suspect the only reason she’s playing nice is to combat her reputation of being crazy.
Her short hair is the worst! I mean it would Look bad on anyone she’s still gorgeous but I can’t figure out why she’d want that specific cut 🙁 super tacky and old lady to me!

I had chemo and bought a wig. Same look and I wore it once. I wanted a chic, short hair wig and ended up with this older lady look.

I lost all respect for her after she went on her smear campaign against Gabriel. Beautiful on the outside, and very, very ugly on the inside. She and Olivier were the perfect toxic pairing, but there was never any doubt that their marriage would fail. She knew her reputation took a beating after her antics with Gabriel, and she knew Olivier could match her in unleashing hell. For the sake of her children, I’m glad she finally chose to behave civilly.

I so hope this lasts. It’s not fun, knowing a kid in a brutal divorce has the extra trauma of the whole thing cached in Google for their schoolyard peers to locate. Her history isn’t amazing, so I hope like hell this stays calm.
I was kinda rooting for them to stay together. I happen to like her, craziness and all. That being said I’m glad they decided to handle things quietly, for the sake of Maceo (and Nahla too– she’s been through lots with the Gabriel debacle).
