Alison Brie and Dave Franco got married at some point, somewhere

Premiere Of IFC Films' "Sleeping With Other People"

In “I didn’t even know they were dating” news, actress Alison Brie (who starred on two shows I miss terribly, Community and Mad Men) and Dave Franco (best known for the Jump Street and Neighbors movie franchises… that I don’t miss at all) have confirmed through their reps that they have wed. People made the announcement, which was confirmed by Dave’s publicist on Monday. There are no details as of yet where or when exactly the ceremony took place.

31-year-old Dave met his 34-year-old bride during Mardi Gras back in 2011 and they got engaged in August of 2015. Alison’s engagement ring, a rose gold setting with rose cut and pavé diamonds, made its debut on the red carpet at the premiere of her movie Sleeping with Other People. Side note: I don’t like rom-coms, but this movie, co-starring Jason Sudekis, is really cute.

After the engagement, both actors seemed reluctant to discuss their marriage plans. While promoting (ironically enough) her role in How to Be Single in February of last year, Alison told Yahoo! Style that “I’m not very bridal, instinctually. Marriage never really interested me, I guess because I was very focused on my work. I wasn’t sure if I really saw the point to it.” She went on to say that she changed her tune after meeting Dave, confessing, “I just met that person that I was like, ‘Well, I’m really in love with you and would like to grow old with you.’ I actually think it’s much more romantic when two people are like, ‘Oh, I could go either way on marriage, but I want to marry you.’”

As for Dave’s side of things, at the premiere of Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising last May, Dave told E! that he didn’t want a big wedding and wanted to keep things “simple,” adding, “We keep kinda paring it down—to the point we might elope.”

Whatever their marriage plans, Dave’s big brother James almost spilled the beans in December on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, telling him that “Davie, the youngest, is engaged and is going to get married early next year.” Alison and Dave addressed James’ comment at the premiere of The Little Hours, in which they co-star, in January. Alison said she didn’t know what James was talking about and Dave also tried to diffuse the situation by joking, “He doesn’t know anything.” He went on to add his own speculation, saying, “Who knows when it’s going to be? Hopefully soon. Hopefully early this year, but again we’re very lax about the whole planning.”

The newlyweds just hit the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas to promote their latest film, The Disaster Artist. This eagerly awaited movie (by me, at least) is the story of the making of the cult classic The Room, with James Franco pulling double duty – directing and starting as eccentric auteur Tommy Wiseau.

It’s amazing that, in this day and age, Dave and Alison have been able to keep their private lives so private – so kudos to them both for that. And, of course, congrats on their marriage! They do make a cute couple. I wonder, when and if they decide to have kids, if they’ll be able to keep that news hush-hush as well. Challenge accepted?

Why did I think she was dating Vincent Kartheiser? In any case, congrats to the newlyweds.

  2. ZAN says:

She’s so pretty! I liked her in Mad Men.

  3. AnotherDirtyMartini says:

I’ve seen these two in a commercial together – had no idea they were together. She seems much older than him. Not looks wise; just maturity level. I’m probably judging his maturity from the characters he portrays 🙂

  4. EOA says:

If Vincent Kartheiser and Alexis Bledel can keep the birth of their child quiet for several months, so can these two, I suspect. Loved her as Trudy Campbell.

  5. minx says:

    Trudy!

  6. Lucy says:

I want/love him, so this makes me kinda mopey, but she seems lovely! So congrats to them 🙂

  7. Lucy2 says:

    Congrats to them.
I thought her career was going to break out more after Community and Mad Men.

  8. QQ says:

They look so cute together, I find him very charming with his lil biddy self!

He is by far the superior Franco. They seem like a couple who would be fun to drink with.

She looks different, doesn’t she? Is it just weight loss or did she do something to her nose? Very pretty either way. Congrats to them.

She doesn’t have her little button Annie from Community nose anymore. I noticed as well. I think she had it altered and it was perfectly fine to begin with.

All that superficial stuff aside, I ADORE her and I ADORE Dave… he’s so much more awesome than his annoying brother. I wish them a long happy life together.

I haven’t heard about The Disaster Artist before but now I can’t wait to see it. As much as I dislike him, I can totally see a stoned James Franco in this role – he already likes to squint and shout, now he just has to up it to the max and he’ll be a perfect Tommy Wiseau.
