Emma Thompson says Bigly Boy Trump asked her out after her divorce

The 'Beauty and the Beast' Launch Event

President Bigly Boy has long been fascinated by Hollywood and even more specifically, he’s also been fascinated with glamorous movie-star women. Salma Hayek has previously discussed Bigly Boy’s go-to move, which basically sounds like being negged by the most bigly a–hole in the universe. Bigly Boy wanted to date Salma but she refused, then he got the National Enquirer to run a story about how he refused to date her, then he called her up and told her that she should go on a date with him to “prove” the story false. I believe Salma’s version of events. Just as believe Emma Thompson when she shared a similar story.

British actress Emma Thompson says she once turned down an offer by Donald Trump to stay at the Trump Towers, years before he became the U.S. president. Speaking on a Scandinavian TV show, Thompson said that while filming the 1998 film “Primary Colors,” the phone in her trailer rang and the voice on the other end said, “Hi, it’s Donald Trump here.”

Thompson said it was “like a moose has just entered my trailer,” as that phone had never rung before.

She said Trump called to offer her “some accommodation in one of my Trump Towers. They’re really comfortable.” She said he added: “I think we would get on very well. Maybe we could have dinner sometime.” Thompson said she did not accept the offer.

She goes on to say that she regrets not taking him up on his offer for dinner because then she would have had so many stories. The only part of this that makes me go “hm” is the whole idea that Trump would be attracted to such an intelligent woman. I mean, Emma is the whole package and I would marry her. But she’s not, like, a beauty pageant contestant. She doesn’t have that glossy look that he seems to like. Then I remember – it was enough for him that she was A) blonde and B) a movie star. He probably also liked that she had an accent. He seems to have a thing for women with accents.

And you know the fact that she’s telling this story is going to bother him more than the healthcare sh!t show today and the Russia investigation put together.

    • Rachel says:

I’m surprised he hasn’t already tweeted about how he would never date her. Where are the angry tweets???

      • Megan says:

He will definitely call her over rated, old, not his type, etc. He suffers from such massive insecurities this will consume him with rage.

      • Pumpkin Pie says:

I am heterosexual but I would choose Emma over him, fact. And yes, I must add, HE is old and so over rated.
Emma Thomson, I do love you loads. With or without trump in the picture.

    • Wendy Woo says:

Hey, am I wrong or was her character in Primary Colors based on Hillary? Maybe there’s a whole other Freudian level to this…

      • minx says:

The whole book was a thinly veiled account of the Clinton campaign during the 1992 primaries.

      • Wendy Woo says:

Oh my god, thought so. HE WANTED TO F&%K HILLARY!!! Let’s run with that for a headline for now….

      • doofus says:

honestly, WendyWoo, I think you might be onto something with that…

      • arbelia says:

Yep her role in Primary Colors was based on Hilary Clinton. And when i see Emma look in the movie , it really reminds me of Clinton circa 1993 ( the hair and the big earrings particularly). Even without knowing that it’s based on her, it becomes quite obvious.
And it was the first thing that came to my mind, he asked her out when she was playing Clinton !!

  2. LaraK says:

Oh, I’m not surprised he tried to date her.
I think he has a string of short term affairs with model/gold diggers. He even marries them from time to time.
But he is all about image. And I’m sure he liked the idea of being seen about town with a classy british star. It’s not like he’ll stop the bimbo train, regardless of who else he dates/marries.

  3. SusanneToo says:

My skin crawls in sympathy for the wonderful Emma Thompson.

  4. minx says:

Juicy! She’s too smart for him, as she proved by turning him down.

  5. Sayrah says:

Lol, can you imagine if they had gone on a date?

  6. Bunny says:

I wonder what the timeline of this was? Like who he was married to / dating at the time.

    • Kaiser says:

She says she had just gotten divorced, so that would put the timeline around 1994-95. She was already with Greg Wise and who knows what Bigly was up to. I think he was probably dealing with Marla Maples?

    • minx says:

Branagh and Thompson divorced in 1995. Trump and Maples separated in May 1997. Sounds like Emma was filming Primary Colors in 1997 or 1998.

      • arbelia says:

She was filming Primary Colors in 1997, and at that time she was already with Greg Wise since she met him in 1995.

  7. robyn says:

At least he waited until after Emma’s divorce. He hoped to use her celebrity for his own gain. About Salma: interesting how he tried to manipulate people and the press and created fake stories to his own advantage. He was a rotten apple from the get go this so-called president Trump. His friendship with the Enquirer is also disturbing.

  8. Spiderpig says:

Sorry to blatantly namedrop but Emma mentored me when I was first starting out. She’s absolutely incredible. Hearing this makes me like her even more!

    • Secret squirrel says:

I’ve heard stories about her starting out and meeting Stephen Fry in Uni etc. she tells a story so well.

      • doofus says:

those two appeared on an ep of The Young Ones. I was a fan of the show when they showed it on MTV YEARS ago and bought the DVD a few years back.

I was so surprised to see not only them, but also Hugh Laurie (!) playing kids from a snobby uni who were competing against the Young Ones on a college game show.

    • GingerCrunch says:

LOVE when commenters name-drop here! Lucky YOU!

    • minx says:

Very cool! I would love to hear more.

      • Spiderpig says:

I have no gossip, except some random fan came up to her once and asked (paraphrasing) if Kenneth cheating on her had helped play the Love Actually role and she very diplomatically explained that wasn’t an okay thing to blurt out to a stranger.

She was just really lovely and supportive and send me a lovely hand written letter when my first show opened.

    • Digital Unicorn (aka Betti) says:

I love Emma – she’s one of my favourite actress and I love watching her interviews. I’ve always wondered if she really is as mad as a box of frogs as she comes across as. Plus she and Stephen Fry need to have a show together, they are soo funny.

    • Lisa says:

She seems like a fun and wonderful mentor! I’ve loved her since Sense and Sensibility. 🙂

      • Redgrl says:

Love her! What was the name of that amazing movie she & Alan Rickman were in – it was a couple having dinner and it spoke about their relationship having fallen apart. They were both brilliant…

  9. Lucy2 says:

I love that all these women he pursued turned him down.

    • Brittney B. says:

And just think, how many others are not sharing their stories? I’m sure he tried his so-called “charms” on half of Hollywood.

Actually, maybe the constant rejection over the years by powerful, confident, world-famous, gorgeous women even played a role in driving him to the WH. (See also: “I’m the president and you’re not”.) But it’s not making up for his many shortcomings, like he hoped; it’s just exposing them.

    #EmmaThompsonForFLOTUS

    No wait…

  11. Cherise says:

This would have been at Emmas peak as a leading lady. He probably thought to himself that it would be great to be seen around town with an English Rose type and one with a Cambridge education to boot. She could give him an “in” in posh circles and high brow Hollywood. Plus if it went further, she may be amenable to an “aristocratic marriage” in which he gets to do a Prince Charles and she smiles for the cameras. I believe it all.

  12. Amide says:

I’m legit surprised to hear this😲. I’ve no problem seeing him put his moves on Selma, but I would never, ever have imagined his gross shallowness hitting up Emma.

  13. Bettyrose says:

He offered her sleeping accommodations right off? That’s classy.

  14. Melva says:

Thompson ‘talked out of support for Polanski’ by 19-year-old student.
    She first signed….

  15. perplexed says:

She’s not glossy like a Kardashian, but she is a celebrity and she’s not fat. I could see him asking her out based on those reasons. She was younger then too so maybe that helped.

  16. Tiffany says:

And if she would have said yes, he would have wanted Emma in her full makeup and costume from the film.

  17. Kiki says:

Emma Thompson has dodge the bullet. Who is someone’s right mind would call up an actress on a phone that she never uses, offers her accommodations to a hotel, let alone a hotel that he owns and then asks the out to dinner?

Only a serial killer would do that. But as it so happens, it had to be DONALD TRUMP. The shallow piece of crap he is. Emma should be glad that she turned him down and protect herself.

  18. frisbee says:

Just as well she didn’t bother, Emma has rather a good vocabulary, his seems to be stuck at the 15 year old grunting stage, he would never have understood a word she said to him.

  19. booboocita says:

Good grief, that last photo of Cheeto in the truck makes him look like he’s screaming, “I pooped my pants!”

  20. perplexed says:

Apparently he wanted to date Princess Diana. She wanted nothing to do with him. Even with her terrible taste in men, like the horse riding instructor, she thought Donald Trump was gross, which I find quite funny.

  21. Indiana Joanna says:

Hahahaha. Emma Thompson is incredibly funny and always puts a whip smart take on events.

  22. spidey says:

If I was someone famous I don’t think I would want anyone to know trump had asked me out!

  23. Lucy says:

All I have to say is that she was simply delightful (obviously) as Mrs Potts!!!

  24. Joanie says:

Some men are attracted to smart eomen just for the challenge of breaking them down.

  25. Pandy says:

I think he’d do anything to get his name in the paper. Totally rings true for me.

  26. tracking says:

Pimping out his hotel rooms to lure the ladies? Eww. On another note, love Emma’s new do–chic!

  27. Lisa says:

lmao! She is way too good, far too intelligent for him.

  28. Rhiley says:

It is kind of weird he asked her out when she was playing the Hillary Clinton character in primary colors.

  29. Impromptu says:

Am I the only one that did not recognize Emma Thompson her rejection of the Cheeto King duly noted and approved. She looks like Katie Couric now.
Maybe this is the inner Emma.
Love all she does and love her instinct as well!

  30. KBeth says:

Emma is so out of his league, it’s hilarious how delusional he is.

  31. Naddie says:

Before reading about his possible interest on the status of being with her, I was wondering what he’s seen on her. I mean, she’s classy, talented, beautiful without being a try-hard like Salma or Melania herself, clearly not his type.

  32. Anare says:

In1998 wasn’t he still married to Marla Maples? Classy. 😒
