Around February and March, I sort of expected to hear something about Taylor Swift and what she was up to. You know why? Because that was when Tom Hiddleston was promoting Kong: Skull Island, and he was dumping out his purse about last year’s Tiddlebanging. I thought for sure that Taylor would get Us Weekly or People Magazine to do a story in which “sources” talked about Tay-Tay’s many emotions in the wake of Tom’s tell-all GQ interview. But nothing happened. It was weird. Taylor has been largely M.I.A. for months now. We hear things every now and then, like Ed Sheeran saying that she’ll have a new album out later this year, that kind of thing. Well, now Entertainment Tonight has some more info:
Where in the world is Taylor Swift? The 1989 singer has left a blank space in the public eye in recent months, rarely sharing posts to Instagram and largely avoiding public events. Her mysteriously low profile has led many fans to wonder what she’s been up to since her last public performance on Feb. 4, during a pre-Super Bowl concert in Houston, Texas Well, fans need not wonder any longer — and should start getting excited! A source tells ET that Swift “has been busy working on her upcoming album.”
According to the source, the “Shake It Off” singer has been figuring out what the sound and feel of her new album is going to be, and whether or not she wants to continue in the pop genre that propelled her last album to record-shattering success, or return to her beloved country roots. However, the source did note that Swift’s next big album is expected to drop by the end of the year.
Swift has stayed off the radar in a big way while working on creating her new music. While typically ubiquitous on social media, the 27-year-old songstress has only posted to Instagram once in the last two months, and that was to promote the release of her friend and fellow pop diva Lorde’s latest single, “Green Light.”
While keeping out of the spotlight, ET’s source says Swift has been staying closer to home, spending time in Nashville, Tennessee, where the singer was recently spotted driving around just last week.
“She comes here to get away from the paparazzi,” an eyewitness suggested to ET.
I think it’s more than possible that Taylor – being one of the most self-aware women in the world – instinctively knows that she needed to try to be more mysterious and not so in-our-faces. I think it’s possible that she’s saving The Taylor Swift Show for the new album, so perhaps by November, we’ll be talking about All Taylor, All the Time.
Of course I have another little theory… I think Taylor is working on the album, for sure. But I also think she’s hiding out in Nashville while her latest ALLEGED plastic surgery heals. There were some weird photos of her in January where it looked like she had gone up a few sizes with her breast implants. And some fans think she got some booty implants too. Imagine Taylor strutting out in October with a body like Nicki Minaj!!!

I don’t think Taylor is one of the most self-aware women in the world. She’s extremely image-conscious and controlling of that image. But self aware? That’s a whole different thing, and she’s not self-aware at all.

I mean in order to be so controlling of that image you have to have some self awareness. Taylor is extremely self aware because when it comes to the Taylor show it’s all about her and how she can benefit….if she feels there’s no benefit she stays silent.
OR maybe self awareness isn’t the correct term for what I described.
When I think of self-awareness, I think of someone who is aware of how they actually come off as a person. Not the hyper-controlled image that they put out. And I don’t think Taylor knows how she actually comes off. Take the more innocuous moments, when she’s doing her embarrassing dancing at awards shows or making her totally contrived “I can’t believe I won the award” faces, or doing her sideways crab walk thing so that the paparazzi doesn’t get a full shot of her face. I don’t think she knows that all of that comes off as ridiculous. Or take the more seriously not-okay moments, like when she took commentary that Nikki Minaj was making about WOC getting credit for their achievements and made it completely about herself. I don’t think she realized that it came off tone deaf at best and as a racial microagression at worst. To me, it all demonstrates a total lack of self awareness. But I’m operating on the premise that image-controlling and self-aware are two different things.

@frisbee – I’m with you there. Very few of today’s “singers” have the vocal abilities to cover those songs. Linda Ronstadt was able to back in the 1980s – her recordings with Nelson Riddle were fantastic. But the sweet voice of Ella Fitzgerald – she was incomparable! Thank heavens those singers are recorded so wen can still hear them and drown out today’s whiny wailings.

I think she has an acute awareness of herself as a marketable commodity, but very little self-awareness when it comes to close, interpersonal relationships.

It’s the WAY she’s goes about it. She’s tries to ruin images through lies and victimizing and public trashing.
Many other female performers write personal songs and never get dragged either. This is not about gender or even about the songs themselves. The difference is what Llamas points out. Precious Taylor has made guessing who the songs are about into a game, even giving not-so-subtle clues in the liner notes of the albums. Juvenile at best, vindictive and vaguely libelous at worst.

@jetlagged you make a good point about Taylor making it a guessing game however Justin timberlake made a video and cast a woman identical to his ex. That’s some shady shit. I get that swiftly rubs people the wrong way but let’s call people out evenly, not just the ones we don’t like.
@Jaded, I’m all for equal opportunity call-outs. I had no idea about Justin’s video since I mostly avoid him, but given what little I know about him that sounds like something he would do. It’s a shitty move, no matter who does it.
I am not a country fan but I always thought her music has sounded more pop than country. Maybe pop-country? Or country-lite? I’ve never heard music from her that sounds full-out country. Am I missing something?
If I were her I’d take long breaks to swim in my fancy pool and take fancy baths and workout with a fancy trainer and take long hikes in the woods and just enjoy my life from day to day. I wonder if she ever just wants to do that, just live quietly and smoke a J and enjoy some calm, sunny days.
There were a few songs early one that were just as country as a lot of bigger names. But she was really more of a cross-over even early on. It appealed to the younger ‘newer’ country fans that weren’t into super country sounding music – but it still appealed to a good chunk of the younger crew who grew up on country. It was always poppy enough to get radio play by stations that weren’t just country stations though.
I’m with you, though, Patricia. I think I’d honestly just really relax for a while. I mean, she’s been micromanaging her life for a long time now – a solid year or two where she could just kind of figure out what she ACTUALLY wants wouldn’t be a bad decision. I’d love to have the means she has to just travel, and do cool things that I normally would never have a chance to experience.

Et made this whole story out of a guy spotting her in Nash driving/dancing in her car , he posted the messages on tumblr the reporter dm’ed him on Twitter after he posted his sighting.
I’ll say this for her, at least she knew when to go incognito so as to avoid damaging her image further. Hiddleston’s continuous defensive comments about how “real” their relationship was only made things worse for him.
I, for one, miss her. The radio is so boring right now. I’m ready for some tea-spilling not so blind-item breakup songs. My fear (if we could call it that, haha) is that she’s now farming out her “breakup” songs to other artists to sing for her (see: Little Big Town’s “Better Man”). My guess is the singles off her next album will be of the “Shake it Off” and “22” variety, and a couple breakup songs will be included as album filler.
If she does go up another cup, she’s gonna fall over.
Rumor has it she’s also buying a booty so it will balance the front end out. 🙂

Amilu- Good points. I have a dislike/tolerate/damn this is catchy relationship with the Taylor. As far as her looks and figure are concerned, I could see her dealing with some “maturing” body issues and possibly gaining weight, in a very natural way, when she is not on the touring/performance grind. She was very long and lean and was constantly praised for her “model-like” proportions in interviews. After coming off of her latest tour, she did have the pap shots coming/going from the gym, but she looked to be at a healthier weight. I’m going to actually give her the benefit of the doubt here. Do you Taylor. Do you.

Go away and stay hidden. No one wants to see that smug face. Smugness and Swift, now that is something which fits. And why anyone gives her credit for whatever reason is beyond my imagination. It’s her PR Team and Management who should get credits 🙂 see Hiddleston’s Luke has to learn from them.
It’s easier for her to disappear than it is for him. He did essentially disappear after he finished Thor – no interviews (except for UNICEF) – mostly pap shots of him getting breakfast or running, twitter sightings of him running or getting coffee or going to the theatre, taking the underground or buses etc. He is not like her, willing to go out only in darkened cars. But he did have a movie to promote and he was going to be interviewed and TS was going to come up – he doesn’t have the same power over the press as she does.
Remember all those staged paparazzi shots she arranged after all those “workout sessions” (where she wore her gym clothes yet there was no sweat and he hair and makeup were always perfect) after she and Tom broke up?…. My guess is also butt implants/injections. She has been make fun off publicly about her lack of booty before and we all know how much she hates that. Also who can forget those butt pads she wore under a jumpsuit during an awards show not too long ago?
My guess is she’ll reappear with bigger breasts and a bigger booty and attribute it to weight loss and squats if asked.
I will never forget those pictures. She had that smugness around herself. Like: see I am medusa, I am good and fine. I wanted to slap her to Mars with a sign on her scrawny bum saying: never enter earth again. I once explained why I can’t stand her on CB and that list went on and on.
I miss her and actually feel really sorry for her. I know it was all her own doing, but what a shit year the girl had! She botched the whole Kanye thing, she botched the whole falling-in-love-for-realsies thing. She was exposed and humiliated and I feel bad for her.
