Lauren Conrad debuts blue-eyed baby Liam on this week’s People cover

Paris Fashion Week Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2017-2018 - Christian Dior - Arrivals

Lauren Conrad gave/sold (?) the first exclusive photos of her first baby to People Magazine. LC gave birth to baby William “Liam” James Tell on July 5th. Liam’s father is William Tell, who is not quoted whatsoever in the People Mag article. William is NEVER quoted. He is sometimes photographed with LC and I just feel like she married Some Guy. He’s Some Guy who doesn’t have much of a personality, but he’s tall and handsome in a normal, bland, basic way, so he’ll do. Anyway, LC is very happy with her baby and Liam is apparently a very good baby already. Some highlights from the People Mag cover story:

She thought Liam was going to be bigger: “Before the delivery, I felt like I was getting ready for a blind date. We considered doing the 4D ultrasound but then decided to wait. I just remember thinking he was so cute — and I was surprised by how tiny he was. I was convinced I was having a giant baby, to the point where I didn’t even buy newborn clothes — in my head he was 9 lbs.,” she says of baby Liam, who was born weighing 6 lbs., 14 oz.

They found out the sex early on: “I don’t really love surprises. I like to have all the information. And I was sharing my body with someone — so I wanted to know as much as possible about him. I always hoped I would have a boy. Boys are so fun. I was a tomboy, and I always play best with boys. When we found out, I was so excited.”

She didn’t always know she wanted to be a mom: “In my early 20s I was open to having them or not having them. But after meeting William, I changed my mind,. I knew I wanted to have a family with him. But I didn’t want to do it right away. I’m crazy about Liam, but I never really got baby fever. We wanted to enjoy being married and to really be in the right space. We took our time, so it was something to look forward to.”

She’s not feeling “any pressure” to lose the baby weight. “Spanx exist for a reason.”

Liam is a good baby: “I feel so spoiled. Liam is such a good baby. I’m sleeping three to four hours at a time. This morning I was up at 4 a.m. and I wasn’t even tired, so I cleaned the kitchen and did some cooking. William was like, ‘You’re crazy!’ “

She wants another baby: “He’s funny to watch — he makes really funny little expressions. I’m already stressing out because I want him to stay this tiny and I know he won’t. So I’m just trying to enjoy how itty-bitty he is. I was looking at him the other day, and I was like, ‘I understand now why people keep having babies!’ We’ll probably have two. I think it’s best not to be outnumbered.”

She wants to raise his to respect women & Disney movies: “I want to be strong and teach him to respect women. The mother-son relationship is so important. And I’m just excited to play again! I can’t wait to break out the finger paints. And I’m such a Disney nerd, so I get to watch those movies with someone who is seeing them for the first time.”

She sounds very happy and blissed-out. LC lives such a charmed life, doesn’t she? She would be easy to hate, with the way she sort of floats through her life of privilege, but I don’t hate her. I do think she appreciates what she has. Also: she’s cleaning the kitchen at 4 am just a few weeks after giving birth? Damn. What’s my excuse??

    That little face.. he’s adorable.

  2. Goats on the Roof says:

    He’s adorable.

I am sure there was some kind of deal in place for the cover, but I hate Sam Shepard is pushed off to a tiny corner in favor of a reality TV star.

    • kNY says:

I concur. He’s a cutie, but Sam Shepherd…*sniffles* He will always be the adorable vet from Baby Boom – a movie my mom watched endlessly when I was little.

  3. Alix says:

This chick merits a People cover? Wow.

    • Fiorucci says:

I think it’s people that’s under new ownership and lost some or a lot of reporters and their sources

    • Keaton says:

IKR? No offense but that really shocked me. How long has it been since her reality show was even on the air?

    • Pix says:

Seriously. I don’t dislike the girl, but the cover of People Magazine? SMH.

    • Bellagio DuPont says:

Errrr…….she’s pretty well known and has a fairly large fan base actually, so yeah. People cover. 😉

I always rooted for her on the hills, she just seemed so much more sensible (if a little nerdy) than some of the other “bitchier” girls. Plus, I love her taste.

Congrats Lauren and tons of luck with the family.

  4. Nicole says:

Yea her husband doesn’t like the press I feel like I’ve heard her say that before. So not surprising he didn’t do an interview. She sounds happy so congrats to her and William.

  5. magnoliarose says:

I don’t mind LC being on the cover of People with her baby. She never seems contrived or desperate for attention. The others from that show are insufferable, but she never has been.
I like that her husband is private. To me it says he loves her for the person she is and not the famous image the public sees. She chose to marry a man who adds nothing to her public persona but I am not surprised she never seemed fame hungry,

    • lem says:

if i recall correctly, he’s an entertainment attorney. my guess is that he has no interest in the publicity and doesn’t need it/won’t benefit him in any way.

    • Kitten says:

ITA but I’ve always really liked her so I guess I’m biased.

    • Bridget says:

She also seems extremely guarded about the real details of her personal life once she exited reality tv. Even in this interview, it’s all pretty innocuous stuff that you could imagine her saying to a stranger in the waiting room of the pediatrician’s office. LC seems to have figured out the balance between creating her brand professionally but not completely selling out every detail of her personal life.

  6. Crowdhood says:

I feel like she navigated that whole Laguna beach situation as best as she could and she made something of herself. I could take her or leave her until she was on a radio show and they asked her what her favorite position was and she paused and said “CEO”. I was here for her after that!

  7. Allie B. says:

I’m happy for LC. I feel like I grew up with her a little. As awful as those shows became, she never slipped up and showed an ugly side. I think that she’s a genuine person. Heidi is so jealous.

    • ELle says:

Yeah I think that is why people on the show hated her, she seems like a genuinely nice person, albeit a very privileged one. To me she reminds me of that one girl in high school, the pretty, nice, smart ones that just seemed to be loved by everyone. And that you kind of wanted to hate, but couldn’t because they were actually just nice.

  8. Cinzia says:

The baby is so cute. Adorable

  9. Fiorucci says:

She’s always seemed like a hard worker. Those with privelege can and often do work hard and I assume her parents were an example for her.
Not a bad call by people, because now readers will watch for the speidi baby cover

    • Kristen says:

I agree – I think she actually works pretty hard. But she’s also never denied the ways in which her privilege has helped her, which is pretty refreshing for hollywood as well.

  10. Erinn says:

I like that they named the baby Liam. It’s basically a shortened William… but less pretentious than just naming your kid after you exactly. It’s a super popular name, but I still don’t really dislike it.

I like Lauren. She can seem boring or vanilla or whatever… but she also just seems to be genuinely nice and content with what she has. Like – she’s not bland and telling everyone they need to be more like her… and as far as being friends with a celebrity she’d probably be a decent one in comparison to the super dramatic over the top kind of celebs. I also like her clothing choices most of the time. I’m not someone who’s very daring with clothes – I like ‘classic’ kind of easy but put together kind of looks that will be good separates, and she seems to have that sort of style.

  11. HelloSunshine says:

What a little cutie! I remember being all blissed out at that point with my son too. I still feel that way but also exhausted lol
I really like Lauren! I think I’ve mentioned before I grew up around that area and everyone consistently says she’s very nice. Like since Laguna Beach came out, that’s the number one thing I’ve heard about her and I appreciate that she breaks the blonde, rich snob stereotype of Orange County

    • Lee1 says:

I was thinking the same thing about the kitchen cleaning – that new baby bliss and the change in hormones can do crazy things. I also remember being blissed out and full of energy even on no sleep – I was always so frustrated when people would tell me to ‘sleep when the baby sleeps’ because I wanted to clean or read or make dinner or shower or just have some time to myself.

Now I’m pregnant with #2 and exhausted. I am trying to really internalize how tired I am now so that I DO sleep when the baby sleeps this time around. That sleep deprivation catches up to you eventually!

  12. Millenial says:

I like her. She’s still kind of big in the late-twenties/early thirties rich white girl crowd, so she’s actually a perfect fit for a People cover since that’s probably their target market. She’s sort of experience the big life changes along with a lot of the crowd that grew up with her (marriage, baby, whatever) so I think she’s smart to use it to market herself and keep her businesses relevant. I’ve never been a fan of her Kohl’s line, the fit on things is just a bit off and the fabric always feels weird. I think at this point her fan-crowd has graduated to Nordstrom, so she would be smart to move on. But, her lifestyle website is pretty good.

  13. Margo S. says:

Cute baby, but I can’t stand Lauren Conrad. What a boring boring person.

  14. i dont know her says:

she still getting covers of legit (?) magazines.
    Kristin could NEVER lol

LC & Blake Lively’s publicists deserve a nice long* slow clap*

  15. meh says:

    Yep, looks like a baby.

  16. Yup, Me says:

I always laugh about women who have been mothers for 2 minutes talking about how many more kids they want. She has the money to be able to hire support so I guess she’ll be somewhat shielded from the reality of having children on her own. But seriously. Tell me you want more kids after you’ve been dealing with toddlerhood and your child’s actual personality, not when they’re still basically a human shaped blob being that stays where you put them with zero effort.

  17. Ozogirl says:

I’ve always loved her and rooted for her. I think she was the most grounded and relatable from The Hills. She seems to be one smart cookie when it comes to marketing and business too!
