Danny Devito drunk, belching and inappropriate in 8am interview

Danny Devito was interviewed yesterday morning at 8am on the Philadelphia set of his new movie TV show “It’s Always Sunny.” (Thanks Jess!) He looked visibly wasted and sipped a can of beer the whole time, joking that it wasn’t real beer but fooling no one. The reporter, Jenn Frederick, just had a baby and Devito knew her from when she was pregnant. He got all skeevy about it and said he was wondering how the baby looked “when she was born.” When Frederick said her baby was cute, Devito kept pushing it and asked “was she cute coming out, you get the picture of the head and the legs coming out?”

He then commented on the reporter’s short skirt and she did a little shimmy, playing along. “Easy access,” he joked.

When asked if it was hard filming with Devito, his co-star said “Yeah, you’re looking at it.”

Devito had a similar drunk morning interview on The View in November, 2006. He admitted that he had stayed up all night with George Clooney drinking Limoncello the night before and hadn’t yet recovered. He went on to launch his own line of the Italian lemon liquor, called “Danny DeVito’s Premium Limoncello.” After this skeevy interview we might expect to see a cheap domestic canned beer with Devito’s name on it.

  3. Dorothy says:

that is really sad – poor rhea pearlman!

  4. Sunnyjyl says:

I read somewhere else that this was a set up. If so, funny. If not, not so funny after the first 15 seconds.

  5. Celebitchy says:

    @Jess – fixed thanks!

  6. Ggirl says:

In at least this past year or so, Devito has acted messed up on the talk show circuit. This was not a one time occurance. Sadly, the man seems to need help.

  7. wow says:

This is not cute – at any age. And very disrespectful to the reporter. Ugh!

  8. Liz says:

Well, at least we know It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is coming back. Huzzah.

  9. SolitaryAngel says:

This was disturbing on many levels; but I think I’m seeing some early signs of dementia in DD–anyone else notice? How old is he now?

  10. Lori says:

CB you are bringing the LOLz this morning.

  11. Word says:

I thinks it’s an act. Would someone on that set refuse to let him be interviewed if he was really that drunk. They want free publicity and they got it.

  12. Wench. says:

Hey – those boys have a damn good anecdote for the next 40 years. Long like the drunkard!

  13. Codzilla says:

I thought the show was called “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”?

  14. GimmeABreak says:

Well, she handled his drunk a$$ well. They should give her a show and let him drink himself into oblivion.

  15. Wench. says:

Word – I dunno… How many people can refuse DeVito to do what the hell he wants!?

  16. Magsy says:

Not only that he’s a cheap little fecker. I have a limo driver friend in Central Florida when he was here promoting his stupid lemon drink, and he and Rhea were in his limo from the airport. Rhea was very nice, Danny was an a–hole and didn’t tip a penny.

  17. jjack says:

she started the interview referencing his drunkenness on a previous program, which i think pissed him off. then she said she “wears extra high heels, because he’s the only guy she can look down on”. Clearly that also pissed him off. Moreover, his character is supposed to be a jackass, and i think he used the opportunity (which backfired, mainly) to get a few digs on her. Also, that beer in nonalcoholic, which he attested to. That would be a dumb lie to say, as that could be easily verified by anyone on set. He may have been drunk before, but he’s not drunk this time.

Good on him. Those morning show people are always soo cheesy, Danny was just cutting through the cheese.
