Donald Trump wants the Senate Intel Committee to investigate ‘fake news’

What do you want to talk about today? Gun control? Abortion? Health care? America’s military presence around the world? The Russia investigation? All of the above? Too bad, because our esteemed Emperor Pissypants wants to tweet about fake f–king news all morning. Yesterday, Donald Trump sent Secretary of State Rex Tillerson out there to not really deny the factual, confirmed stories that Tillerson called Trump a “f–king moron” and that Tillerson wants to quit. Tillerson came out yesterday and he was like, “Blah, whatever, words,” but Pissypants is still SO mad about it. He tweeted about it yesterday and today:

Why would NBC need “verification” from Donald Trump, a noted liar and despot, if the story is about Rex Tillerson’s unhappiness in the administration? Trump literally believes the people who work in the government are his slaves, that they cannot speak without his permission, that they cannot say one word against their dear leader, and that they are not working as public servants, on behalf of the American people. As for Trump wanting the Senate Intel committee to look into “fake news” – they are. They’re looking into the Russian-Trump fake news network which got him elected.

Anyway, the stories are all true – Tillerson did call Trump a “f–king moron” and reportedly, White House aides wanted Tillerson to resign because of it. WaPo reports that Tillerson is very unhappy but mostly the vibe is that Tillerson isn’t going anywhere until Trump pushes him out personally, which may never happen.

Also something to keep your eye on: Kellyanne Conway has gotten caught up in that air-travel scandal. She was on several of those planes with Tom Price, who resigned last week.

    *sigh*

  2. Jerusha says:

trump was ‘elected’ president. That’s fake news right there.

  3. Annabelle Bronstein says:

Honestly I think it would be great to have the Committee investigate this because our journalists have been on point and I would love to see the smackdown,

    • Galaxias says:

Yes, I thought that too, but then I remembered that 45 would just say that the investigation was biased and nothing would change. His default is denial.

  4. Indiana Joanna says:

The entire drump family and hanger-ons are corrupt and are there to take whatever they can, so I fully expected Conway would jump on anything to exploit her position.

drump, babyfists, the dotard is in full panic mode. He belongs in prison for his lies, Russia collusion, theft of tax payer money and his decades of mobster activities.

  5. Natalie S says:

How difficult would it be to create a sort of Truman Show around Trump? Actor look-a-likes playing all the anchors of the various news shows he watches, fake newspapers, figure out a fake Twitter platform. Praise him when he does something actually good for the country.

If Donald is so obsessed with fake news, I think Hollywood and the IC could create a Wag the Dog/Truman Show hybrid just for him, right? It would be a narcissist’s dream because “reality” would literally be centered entirely around him.

    • Esmom says:

I’ve heard that suggestion before, lol. Too bad no one got on that during the campaign.

      • Mumzy says:

Oh It’s not too late to fake the whole thing…he can watch the “rerun” highlight reels of his greatest and most glorious victories. In the meantime, if Twitter is on board with shutting down fake propaganda stuff I think I know one account that could be shut down right away.

  6. Beth says:

When will he let go of the “fake news ” shtick? It just makes him look like a bratty kid throwing a temper tantrum because he’s not getting his own way.
Wah,wah! Mommy took my toy away! I don’t want to go to sleep yet, wah, wah! Daddy, the media’s picking on me again because they’re meanies, wah!

How can so much be fake if the news is coming from recordings, interviews with him and his team, and his own tweets? Hand crybaby Trump some tissues

  7. happyoften says:

I think it would be great to have a congressional hearing on the state of our media, it is desperately needed. Probably it isn’t going to end the way trump wants it to.

It is nonsense like this that makes him truly terrifying. A cynical play to create confusion and muddy the informational waters is one thing, but the mad hatter seems to freakin’ believe all that crap he is pedaling. Somehow knowing that this much stupid has access to the button is what keeps me up at night.

  8. Mermaid says:

So you want them to investigate you Trump? Like Stephen King said News is real and the President is fake.

  9. robyn says:

Trump’s a moron who intentionally doesn’t know the difference between real and fake news. Hopefully he will soon be booted out of the WH.

  10. Elkie says:

    Ah yes, “Fake News”.

Where all major news outlets both in the US and globally have conspired – often with their direct competitors – to tell exactly the same “lies” about Trump’s woeful incompetence, whilst only Fox (riddled with a culture of sexual harassment and owned by a totally reputable guy who was forced to shut one of his biggest newspapers due to a phone hacking scandal) and Breitbart will tell you the truth.

    Facts be damned!

  11. Humbug says:

Are you there Mueller? It’s me, ‘Murica. I know, I know.. I look a little different now. Can you pretty please toss out indictments to you know whos, like Trump throws rolls of paper towels? Feel free to be as creatively disrespectful. Thanks in advance.

  12. Pumpkin (formally soup, pie) says:

This is totally OTT but is he wearing a lot of makeup !

    • Lightpurple says:

A ton. Shellacked Pumpkin Spice Orange Voldy. He looked horrible in PR and in NV, worse than usually. He is puffier and more bloated. Looks like he gained 20 pounds in his face alone

    • Christin says:

He’s also coated his 26 bigly long hair strands with shade 9PY (pee yellow), from the Crapola 64 Shades of Haircolor line. I guess Kel-lieann applies it while he rants at latest news headlines.

      • Lorelai says:

@Christin: I think we need to put “hair” in quotes because I don’t know wtf that is on his head but it doesn’t resemble human hair 🤢

  13. Pandy says:

God, to see him frogmarched out of the WH in handcuffs … the kids, his appointees, all of them.

  14. Nancy says:

No Dotard, you owe the apologies. SSDD

  15. Juls says:

You guys, I just HAVE to share. Was just at the store. The cashier was a chatty woman in her 50s, and told me she was a Trump supporter, thought he would do good things. Then went on a rant about how horrible he is and that he has no heart/soul and she can’t stand him now. I know it’s just one person, but it made my freaking day that one person has turned against him. Now if the ripples would just turn into a tsunami against him.

    • Kitten says:

Thanks for sharing. I was telling my BF yesterday that I noticed several people in my FB feed who have NEVER said a word about Trump were posting rants about him. I think the way he handled Puerto Rico was a breaking point for some people which…better late than never I guess?

But yeah, it’s great/hopeful to see people turning on him, even better if they voted for him and regret it now.

      • magnoliarose says:

        This is true.
45s handling of PR has offended my relatives in Louisiana because of the Katrina reference and understanding what it feels like to lose everything. I think a few are done but don’t want to admit it, and the ones that have jumped ship are now in full hate mode. I think once a person leaves the island their hate dwarfs ours.

      • Lorelai says:

@Kitten, I agree, but sadly I think this woman is an aberration. Most of his supporters seem like the types who would rather die than admit they were wrong about him.

    • magnoliarose says:

We take our victories where we can, and she isn’t the only one. I peeled a few relatives away, but the ones on the fence won’t jump off, and I have no idea why. I hate to think they are that racist but what else could it be? They tell me they have no issue with Jews but when I point out the things Tang 45 has done they keep mentioning the Javanka and the grandchildren.
I gave up on some of them but a few I just can’t bring myself to because of good memories I guess.

All of that to say each one that wakes up may say it to someone else and then it will grow.
43My one comfort is I know he is the kind of person who can’t maintain a positive image, and sooner or later others catch on but these are city folk, I am not sure if some parts of America understand his brand of grifter.

      • Christin says:

They may eventually see the light when / if it impacts their own pocketbook or means of living (Medicaid, etc.).

    • Tiffany :) says:

Thank you for sharing! It keeps the hope alive!

    • Christin says:

Any glimmer of hope is welcome.

Recently I was looking at newspaper archives from March 1974 (five months prior to Nixon’s resignation). An editorial headline caught my eye. It was to the effect of, ‘this reporter is exhausted by Watergate’. Those months had to be long ones as well.

  16. Bijou says:

The only person who should be apologizing to America is Trump and his supporters. But seeing as how Trump is a total narcissist, that will never happen.

  17. Radley says:

The funny thing about his fake news shtick is that if he keeps pressing the issue, it will blow up in his face. All the actual fake news points to Russia and probable collusion. So I say, investigate. He’s trying to intimidate the 4th estate, but I’m sure the overwhelming majority apply solid journalistic standards. It’s the Trump supporting foolery that’s actually very fake.

But I guess this speaks to how mentally ill he is. He can’t get out of his own way or keep his mouth shut or cover his sizable a$$. He’s completely out of touch with reality.

  18. Bread and Circuses says:

And in the wake of a mass shooting and several brutal natural disasters, THIS is what he cares about.

He is a narcissist: mentally unwell and utterly unfit.

  19. Jazz says:

I can’t tell the difference between The Onion and real life anymore.

  20. Veronica says:

I mean, it’s funny to read but frightening in its implications. War on the press and free journalism is a cornerstone of fascism.

  21. Jodi says:

Ok, 45, you want Fake News investigated by the Senate? Then that will include Fox News, Breitbart, InfoWars, Gateway Pundit, and the list goes on and on.

  22. Reef says:

It’s so bizarre that the man who spent literally 8 years denying the legitimacy of 44 and promoting every lie about him suddenly has a problem w/ “fake news”. Must be nice.

  23. Lorelai says:

The scariest part to me is not the Dotard himself — he’s an insane old racist who is deteriorating by the day, right in front of us.

What scares me is the fact that he has so many supporters who believe his bullshit, and as a result, do not and will never trust outlets like the Washington Post or the NYT. (Or CNN, NBC, etc.)

We have to live in the world with these people and they are going to raise an entire generation of children to think the same way. I don’t know how our country can ever come back from this if one side always just shouts “Fake News!” about any fact or story they dislike.

    Our society is f*cked.

    • Christin says:

Some people are stubborn, intellectually lazy and/or devoid of common sense. Others may wake up to reality.

My neighbor is a good ole boy that I would have guessed to be a Tweetolini supporter. Surprise — he cannot stand him. Neighbor says that GWB’s Administration led him to seek sources of information and he never believes political hype. He was fooled for awhile and learned from it.

  24. why? says:

Why Isn’t the Senate Intel Committee looking into the Fake News Networks in OUR country to see why so much of our news is just made up-FAKE!”-The Dotard

The most disturbing thing is that the some of GOP members of the SIC (Tom Cotton, Marco, john Cornyn, Burr, and Mcconnell) will start an investigation into the press just to appease the Dotard. The Dotard tweeted that the Senate should ask Sally Yates who leaked the information about Flynn to WaPo, and then Lindsey Graham did just that. The Dotard said that the DOJ needs to investigation Comey and Hillary, and then Grassely and Graham sent letters to the DOJ about how Comey isn’t reliable because he wrote his conclusion about Hillary before the investigation was even over. Gowdy and Nunes also took up the Dotards offer, issuing subpoenas to Sessions and Wray about the dossier and then threatening to hold them in contempt if they don’t comply. Then there is Nunes, who reverse engineered support for The Dotard’s lie about being wiretapped by Obama, shut down all of the HIC meetings so that Sally Yates couldn’t testify, and flying 2 WH aides to London to talk to Christopher Steele about the dossier. We should be counting how long it takes one of these people Tom Cotton, Marco, john Cornyn, Burr, and Mcconnell to announce that hey are investigating the press.

The Dotard whines about how the press is spreading fake news, while he continues to spread fake news.

What did the press make up? Tillerson didn’t deny that he called the Dotard and F Moron or that he was going to quit. The press isn’t lying.

  25. why? says:

“Rex Tillerson never threatened to resign. This is Fake News put out by @NBCNews. Low news and reporting standards. No verification from me.”-The Dotard

This is the same man who tweeted and said he did a great, good, or A+ job in Puerto Rico. Who is he to talk about low news and reporting standards when he said that Hurricane Maria wasn’t a real catastrophe because only “16” died(which was increased to 34 after the Dotard left PR) and threw paper towels at people? Why would they need to verify it? Is The Dotard saying that the press needs to get his approval before running stories? What also stands out is that The Dotard makes it sounds like he has been leaking stories to the press.

    • Beach says:

I totally agree however you should have posted the whole article MSMBC posted.

      • why? says:

What are you talking about? I was commenting on The Dotard’s tweet, not the MSNBC article that you are referring to in your post.

    • jwoolman says:

The Dotard also likes to delete information from government sites that doesn’t fit his fantasies. Should we call this Evaporating News?

FEMA just deleted info on Puerto Rico that Trump doesn’t like to hear, such as how many people currently have access to water and power. Anything about climate change on government sites evaporated soon after The Dotard took office.

Anticipipating such evaporation, before inauguration of The Dotard there were unprecedented efforts by staff and researchers to protect info and statistics on various subjects by stashing them on nongovernment servers and sending copies to key people in Congress.

  26. why? says:

Sarah Huckabee told Jim Acosta that it was his responsibility to tell the truth. Who is Sarah to lecture the press on telling the truth, when every word out of her mouth is a lie? Why do the press keep attending Sarah’s briefings when all she does is lie and attack them? It’s disturbing how they just sit there and let her attack their peers. When Sarah said that, they all should have just walked out of the room. Sarah wants the press to be like Hallie Jackson, Kristen Welker, and Kelly Odonnell. They can’t just report the truth, they have to spin it to make The Dotard look good.

If the Dotard stopped telling lies, then Sarah wouldn’t have to scold the press about spinning The Dotard’s lies.

It is also being reported that Sarah could be in trouble for all those lies she told about Comey.

  27. why? says:

Some reporters confronted the governor of PR about the lies he has been telling.

  28. gwen says:

Anti-Trump crowd is butt hurt he doesn’t tweet the right things. They had a smooth talking POTUS for 8 years that destroyed this country. I’ll take Trump.

  29. gwen says:

The more I follow the news , the more I appreciate the wisdom of the Founding Fathers. The Constitution saves our beloved nation every day.

  30. I daresay they ARE investigating the “fake news”. The Russia probe will likely cover ALL of those social media bots that his campaign has hired.

  31. why? says:

    In other news,

Mueller and the FBI have verified many details in the dossier because they spoke to Christopher Steele. I wonder if Mueller is going to address Nunes sending 2 WH aides to London to talk to Christopher Steele.

The Dotard was very angry about the reports of Tillerson calling him an F moron, so he summoned Tillerson to the WH (to yell at him). They said that John Kelly had to cancel his plans and stay in DC to do damage control and listen to the Dotard whine for 2 hours. Kelly set up a meeting with Tillerson and Mattis and then Pence talked to Tillerson over the phone before Tillerson did his press release because Pence was upset that Tillerson called The Dotard a moron. Pence is such a puppet. He needs to resign just like The Dotard.

The Dotard gave an interview following his dinner with generals, and during the photo-op, he said it was the calm before the storm. No one knows what is he referring to. Some speculated that he is going to back out the Iran deal.

Sarah Huckabee continues to prove that she is all nonsense. She attacked the mayor of SJ and claimed that The Dotard can’t undercut Tillerson because he is the president and sets the tone.

Veterans at a town hall took a knee in support of NFL players. Notie how the Dotard has stopped tweeting about taking a knee now that he has gotten NFL owners to stop the players from kneeling during the NA(they are doing this new thing where they kneel before the NA and then stand and link arms during the NA)?

    • why? says:

The inspector general who was “investigating” Mnuchin for his abuse of the jets, just cleared him. So how much did Mnuchin offer the IG to get him to clear him because it was clear to everyone that Mnuchin was abusing the jets for his own personal gain. When is enough going to be enough?

      • jwoolman says:

Dunno if this applies to this case, but if they do the right paperwork to justify it, then it isn’t unusual to take the government aircraft. Sometimes scheduling is too difficult (not unusual to have several meetings in a day) otherwise and sometimes it’s actually cheaper if many people have to come along.

Secretary of Transportation Chao (despite her choice of husband – Mitch McConnell) seems to do just that. She takes public airlines most of the time, but does fill out the paperwork to justify it properly when she needs to use something else. And she doesn’t bring along family… I’m sure she has figured out how to multitask while flying commercial.

The costs also may be deceptive. You have to check out the details. How much of it has to be paid anyway, whether or not the aircraft are in use? That’s important in other contexts as well, such as wild claims about how much of a hospital bill was run up by someone. They are including their normal operating expenses in such figures, and an individual patient doesn’t really add that much to the costs. They have to pay the doctors and nurses anyway plus all the overhead costs.

      • gwen says:

        Excellent points jwoolman.
