‘First Trump Lady’ Ivana Trump on Melania Trump: ‘I think she’s trying her best’

Ivana Trump on her way to The Ray Darcy Show

I know this should not be the focus of anything and truly, I care deeply about how Donald Trump is destroying the country from within, and all of those stories about how he’s an unhinged lunatic committing treason on an almost hourly basis. All that being said, I think “The Real Housewives of Bigly” are hilarious. The beef between Ivana Trump (wife #1) and Melania Trump (wife #3) is one of the funniest things to come out of the Bigly administration. A few months ago, Ivana Trump was promoting her latest book, and she was asked (obviously) about her ex-husband and the current First Lady. Ivana made a big point about how she was “the first” Trump wife, so she was basically “the First Lady.” It would have been a minor, tacky story, except that Melania used the First Lady’s office to issue a bitchy statement about Ivana. Well, guess what? Ivana is still talking.

Ivana Trump “doesn’t envy” her former husband President Donald Trump. The first wife of the former real estate mogul appeared on The Ray D’Arcy Show in Ireland, where she discussed whether the president would run for a second term in office.

“I think he’s missing a little bit of his old life,” she said. “You know he was in Trump Tower, and he would go to Mar-a-Lago, he would go to play golf on Westchester, and things like that. Now from 8 o’clock in the morning to midnight, he’s working, working, working and everybody shoves at him the problem of the country.” The 68-year-old former model added — to laughs from the audience — “I don’t envy him, I think he must be freaking exhausted.”

Ivana also addressed calling herself the “first lady” during an interview on Good Morning America last month, a comment she said upset the president’s wife Melania Trump.

“I said, ‘I’m first Trump lady. I’m first Trump lady,’ and first lady went bananas over it,” she explained. “I have no idea why. I don’t know how it sparkled, but I am definitely first Trump lady.” She said, “I was married to Donald. I have three kids with him, and I have no idea why she resents it,” adding, “Who cares?”

When asked if she thought Melania was doing a good job as first lady, Ivana quipped, “I thinks she’s trying her best.”

[From People]

“I thinks she’s trying her best” is good shade. While I’m not really on anyone’s “team” in this situation, I think Ivana has the right to say whatever she wants. If she wants to claim to be the First Trump Lady (whatever that is), so be it. Melania should have ignored it and ignored Ivana completely. It’s a story now because Melania is shockingly thin-skinned and insecure in her position. It’s also a story now because Melania and Ivana are both incredibly tacky.

No actually, he’s still pretty much doing exactly what he used to do: golfing, in-between decimating Obama’s legacy.

Also, she looks like hell and not just because she’s wearing a coat made out of dead animals.

    • Esmom says:

Ha, I thought the exact same thing. He’s barely changed his lifestyle at all to accommodate presidenting. And yeah she looks terrible. As bad as Easy D.

    • Tiffany says:

Yeah, that surgeon needs their license taken away.

    • Who ARE These People? says:

Ha, well said Kitten. And it’s more like he’s shoving all his problems at the country – nay, the world. If he didn’t want the job, he didn’t have to run for office.

    • HH says:

In terms of work, he’s not doing anything different. However, I think what she means is the expectations placed on him are now very hefty. Trump has to make it look like he’s doing work and it’s not as easy as staging a TV boardroom. The presidency is as equally a burden as it is a privilege. However, I have no sympathy for Trump who doesn’t take it nearly as seriously as he should.

    • Y says:

+1 annnnd she looks like Donatella Versace’s twinsie… maybe from the same plastic surgeon. Ick!

    • Pumpkin (formally soup, pie) says:

      @Kitten, @Esmon, spot on.

And really, from 8am to midnight? No senhor, Obama and Clinton famously slept 4-5hrs/per night.

    • shlockOftheNEw says:

Donald was allegedly abusive to her, and I’d venture to observe the “hush money” may be eating at her soul.

Ugh. A walking advert for avoiding cosmetic surgery.

    • Beth says:

I don’t know why attractive people ruin their faces like this

      • Amy Tennant says:

I don’t want to be mean, but I always wonder what they see in the mirror. Like if that looks good to them. People probably wonder that about me too.

      • ELX says:

This isn’t surgery so much as way too much filler. And no, they don’t see how terribly old, haggard, and ugly they look; they just see the smooth, unwrinkled skin.

      • shlockOftheNEw says:

Insecurity. Crippling insecurity drives attractive people to become double addicted to a search for perfection with an opiate layer. But one must ask WHY this particular woman suffers? WHO was she married to as a young immigrant??

    • jana says:

She and Donatella Versace must share a plastic surgeon…they could be twins.

  3. Esmom says:

I barely care about what Melania has to say and I care less about hearing anything from Ivanka. Also, she’s creepy. This did make me wonder what Wife #2 is up to, though. Maples has been remarkably low key, hasn’t she?

  4. HH says:

RE: ” It’s a story now because Melania is shockingly thin-skinned and insecure in her position.”

Is it really that shocking considering her husband and his antics?

Also, give me this Jerry Springer WH drama. Is it beneath the presidency? Yes. Is that something to be worried about anymore? Nope. That ship sailed on Jan 20, 2017.

  5. jwoolman says:

I actually doubt that Melania cares about what Ivana says. If she heard her or read it, she knows Ivana was just jokingly referring to being Trump’s first wife (First Trump Lady) and I’m sure his third wife has no trouble with that idea. She also probably doesn’t feel at all threatened by Ivana calling Trump on the phone. They share children and grandchildren, why shouldn’t they talk? Plus Melania is most likely happy to have someone else keep Donald away from her for a while….

That statement by Melania’s alleged spokesperson was clearly not written by her. I doubt that she initiated it, she might have vaguely approved it just to keep the peace with her husband. She’s not the thin-skinned one, Donald is. That statement had Donald’s sticky Diet Coke stained fingers all over it. He tweeted quickly to reinforce it.

  6. minx says:

I was with her until the “working working working” part.
She looks so terrible with that dated 80s hairdo and bad surgery.

  7. Trump Hater says:

Ivana and Melania are hideous women both inside and out. At least they got that in common. Bet IVAna wishes she was still married to the Orange vomit- then this bride of Frankenstein would’ve been FLOTUS.

  8. KiddVicious says:

I hate that I love her coat.

  9. pizza, pls says:

can she PLEASE change up her hairstyle!

  10. Anare says:

The lips are hilarious! Kardashian/Jenners take note. This is not a look that ages well.

  11. Deeanna says:

Wow, that’s a super good looking coat. Maybe it’s a faux?

  12. Dinah Soar says:

She used to be a hot Czech athlete. Time tramples a face.
