How Amy Schumer fell for her new husband: ‘He’s a genuine guy’

Yup

A post shared by @ amyschumer on

So, Amy Schumer got married. The 36-year-old comedienne wed 38-year-old chef Chris Fischer in a surprise ceremony last Tuesday. The two tied the knot after a relatively quick courtship. Chris, who is the brother of Amy’s personal assistant, was first linked to Amy last November. The two declared their love for each other in a casual, private ceremony attended by stars including Chelsea Handler, Larry David, Jake Gyllenhaal and Jennifer Aniston. (Amy has denied that it was a shotgun wedding.)

Chris isn’t into the whole “celebrity thing,” but has achieved some fame on his own in the culinary world. He worked in New York as a chef and now owns and runs his family’s Beetlebung Farm in Martha’s Vineyard. Chris won the 2016 James Beard Award for American Cooking for The Beetlebung Farm Cookbook, featuring seasonal New England recipes, including mussels with parsley and garlic, sausage in grape leaves with oysters on the half shell and riddled squid (yum). Does he have a culinarily-inclined older sibling or anything? Asking for a friend.

Despite his prowess in the kitchen, Chris was appealing to Amy for other reasons. A source tells Peopke that Chris is “totally not into the celebrity world and she likes how off the grid he is,” adding, “He’s a really genuine guy who’s very close to his family.” He runs the family farm and he dedicated his cookbook to his Aunt Marie, so I would tend to agree.

The relationship has been approved by Amy’s celebrity friends. Jennifer Lawrence told the magazine that “When two people really love each other and they really mean it, it shows.” She went on to say that “It was a beautiful ceremony and an amazing time. I couldn’t be happier for them.” Like most brides, Amy has posted photos from the ceremony on Instagram, and I have to agree with Jennifer. It looked like a lovely event, and I like Amy’s dress and hairdo.

I’ll admit, I loved Amy on Last Comic Standing and enjoyed Trainwreck but I got kind of burned out on her schtick. As much as I wanted to see Goldie Hawn’s return to the screen succeed, Snatched was terrible. That being said, I hope she and Chris have a long and happy marriage.

Something is weird about this whole thing. It seems like a publicity stunt to me, but who knows, maybe I’m wrong. Good luck to her!

  2. Cate says:

Dang, he’s kind of a rough 38. She looked really nice though. Hope it works out but that is a heck of a short courtship.

That was my first thought as well. He’s ONLY 38?! He looks much older. Not that it’s a big deal or anything. He just looks mid 50’s to me.

  3. Crowdhood says:

that area of Martha’s Vineyard is so beautiful and quiet. It’s really really tiny, almost like a small residential area with a pizza place, k-12 and weird little
    Grocery store.

That does not seem like her speed at all, hope she doesn’t get bored and dump the poor guy. They barely know each other.

Something doesn’t bode well here. I think she liked the idea of getting married but just like Drew Barrymore, boredom is going to set in and it will be over within a couple of years. At least they’ll get some good times out of it before that happens.

As opposed to a synthetic man, made of silicone and polyester, I guess.

    Mmm, that food sounds heavenly.

Her hair looks nice but that’s pretty much all I got 🤷🏾‍♀️

Amy has great hair usually…i like the dress

I’ll admit up front that I’m not the most cosmetic surgery savvy person around so when I’m asking about her face I’m really looking for an answer from someone who knows more then me. It looks obvious to me that she’s gained weight between the last 2 pictures in the article but what I don’t get is the clearly delineated nose / cheek area “puffiness” between the last 2 pictures. What is going on there? I’ve never seen that before.

In a kind note, I wish her well in her new marriage.

    • KLO says:

Maybe she is getting hormone treatment to get pregnant

    • Jenn says:

Honestly? I strongly believe it’s Cushing’s/pseudocushings from binge drinking. My wish for her is that this marriage will inspire to take care of herself

Call me crazy, but whoever says that their reason to start a family is because that person is from a different enviroment (non celebrity) is not a good basis. Amd anyhow she makes it sound like she was so tired of the spotlight, despite the fact she is not a celebrity like say Angelina Jolie, I am sure she can go unnoticed in many places. Deffinitely in Europe. And she never strikes me as someone who is shying away from spotlight, her inability to move past jokes about the most private like vagina in her public persona would actualy suggest the opposite: she very much likes the spotlight and the attention.

I think it’s safe to assume…she has gained about 25 lbs recently which could be attributed to her wonderful chef husband trying out some or all of his new/old dishes on her. She looks very full in the face now…as well as the rest of her for that matter…but even head shots show a weight gain. God bless her. She now has to prove that her satire has a flip side and she can manage a normal demeanor with a partner… I wish them well. I don’t like her humor when it’s vulgar but she can be very funny. Ellen sure gets a kick out of her.

  11. Pandy says:

I think it seems a bit quick as well … but perhaps they’ve known each other for a while now due to the assistant connection? I wonder how bicoastal they will be? And yes, he does look older than 37. He’s like Dean Martin.

  12. Maronne45 says:

I truly wish them a lifetime of satisfaction with each other. I’m definitely an Amy Schumer fan, and I believe that she’s set for life.

  13. Cherryl says:

When women hit their mid 30s and aren’t married yet, things happen very quickly. It’s a little odd to marry someone without really knowing them for a while.
