Melania Trump held hands with her bigly husband, allowed him to show affection

Melania Trump spent some time, in public, with her husband on Monday. They walked together to Marine One, holding hands, and Melania almost tripped in her dumb boots, and her husband caught her and put his arm around her to steady her. Then she joined her husband in New Hampshire where they both gave speeches about the opioid crisis. Bigly thanked Melania profusely, telling the audience, “Thank you to our First Lady, Melania, who has been so incredible. Thank you. And we are blessed to have you as our First Lady. Really are.” Why is Melania being so… affectionate?

Their appearance together comes as Trump’s lawyer threatened to sue Daniels for allegedly violating a nondisclosure agreement 20 times, according to The Washington Post. Michael Cohen, Trump’s personal attorney, claimed he had the right to sue Daniels — whose real name is Stephanie Clifford — for $20 million in damages in court documents filed Friday, according to the newspaper.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Cohen arranged a $130,000 payment to Daniels a month before the 2016 election so she’d keep quiet about an alleged sexual encounter she had with Trump in July 2006 — less than four months after Trump’s wife, Melania, gave birth to their son, Barron, now 11. Cohen and the White House have denied the allegation of an affair, with a Trump official telling the Wall Street Journal in January: “These are old, recycled reports, which were published and strongly denied prior to the election.”

Cohen initially denied paying Daniels, but later admitted to it calling it a “private transaction” and said it didn’t violate any campaign finance laws. A recent Wall Street Journal report said Cohen later complained to friends that he hadn’t been reimbursed for the payment.

Daniels is still fighting to tell her story. The New York Times reported this month that Daniels’ lawyer sent a letter to Cohen offering to return the $130,000 payment in exchange for dissolving a so-called “hush agreement.” She is set to appear on 60 Minutes this Sunday with contributor Anderson Cooper.

[From People]

So Melania is sticking around even though she’s being humiliated on an hourly basis by the constant revelations about Stormy Daniels. And Melania is going to be further humiliated when Stormy’s 60 Minutes interview airs. Of course, all of this is assuming that Melania is still capable of feeling humiliated. Which… who knows.

Also, Melania is finally going to host a “summit” with “technology industry leaders” about the very important issue of cyberbullying. Today, Melania will sit down with representatives of Amazon, Facebook, Google, Twitter and other companies to talk about cyberbullying. I would imagine that Facebook has bigger fish to fry these days. And Twitter allows Donald Trump to cyberbully people every g–damn day, so this is just a joke.

Melania has known about Stormy Daniels for years. She doesn’t care. She’s just in it for the money.

    • Christin says:

And it isn’t as if Stormy was the only one. There was another model he was allegedly seeing at the same time, and who knows how many more.

His reality show apparently helped him get dates. She had to know. Besides that, look at his well publicized track record prior to their marriage.

      • CrazyCatLady says:

Agree totally. I’m guessing this staged photo op just cost Trump another million into her name only account.

      • Snazzy says:

        @CrazyCatLady
that’s exactly what I thought! There must have been payment involved for her to allow for these pics to happen

      • Megan says:

I hope she got paid in Bitcoin because a check from Trump isn’t worth the paper its written on.

    • minx says:

I agree she doesn’t care, it’s less time she’ll spend prying his greasy hands off of her.

    • Pandy says:

I agree that she’s in it for the $$ … but it has to be humiliating to have it spread as news around the world. Which makes me laugh and laugh and laugh. Wonder if she “tripped” so Bigly could show how bigly and strong he is?? And praising her is just sad. I don’t know who’s the bigger joke in office -him or her!

  2. Erica says:

I think Melania is a horrible person who has made repeated deplorable choices in her life, but Big Dump’s philandering and assaults shouldn’t humiliate her. His disgusting behavior isn’t about her.

    • FLORC says:

His behavior isn’t hers. Her behavior in response to his. Her choices made from points forward. I’ll criticize her all damn day for that. It’s hipocritical and she gets direct blame.

In an interview years ago she was asked why she was with Trump. And if it was because of money. She answered well and turned the question around. Why Trump was with her. Leaving you to think she’s with him for the money and he’s with her for her looks. And that’s just them. She isn’t blind in this. At all.

      • Christin says:

I remember that interview. I also recall her repeatedly telling an interviewer how “independent” she is. Sure, Jan.

      • Kitten says:

To be fair to her, she probably meant “independent” as in she tries to stay as far away from her husand as possible.

      • Christin says:

Probably so. In context, she seemed to be declaring that she thinks for herself. But it’s also apparent she isn’t fond of being around him.

  3. Eleonor says:

Probably they have a new deal and a huger check is involved.
    Sorry I’m too mean.

    • Apple Hat says:

From who? The Trump family was already broke and leveraged up to their eyeballs before the election. If she’s happy, it’s probably just because she knows it’ll all be over soon, and she’ll be able to escape and take Barron.

      • Esmom says:

Yeah, I don’t know what to think about Trump’s or Melania’s finances anymore. It’s hard to imagine what, if not money, is keeping her with him

      • magnoliarose says:

He has money. It just isn’t what he said, and she won’t be broke by any standard when he kicks the bucket. I wouldn’t be surprised if there aren’t hidden bank accounts all over the world.
She is hanging in because she knows this.

    • mint says:

Thats not mean. Its realistic. She would be pretty dumb not to renegotiate. Right now she has all the power, because leaving him would make him look even more weak.

    • Sullivan says:

That’s the first thing I thought, hefty bonus for Melania. She probably insisted he pay upfront. Wouldn’t hold his hand until she confirmed the money was in her account. They really were made for each other.

    • Merritt says:

She better take cash. A check would bounce.

    • boredblond says:

There are other ways to get $$.. I think the millions that were paid to her friend for inaugural services that weren’t provided were probably divided with her..nothing’s changed..she’s a corrupt opportunist too.

    • jwoolman says:

Eleonor – No, you’re not mean. Just accurate…

Trump has never held his wife like that before. He typically ignores her. This is all to show how he couldn’t possibly have had affairs because he’s such a devoted husband. I do hope she got a good payoff for going along with the farce.

  4. Neelyo says:

Is there a cutesy name for the jewelry one gets when their husband cheats on them? Because I’m assuming she got an extra big one and that’s why she’s allowing him to touch her.

    • FLORC says:

I honestly believe there’s no bribe extras here. That if she wants to keep her lifestyle she parades herself out. Just short of that she shows her free time is as far away from Trump as possible.

    • Princessk says:

I don’t think she ‘allowed’ him to touch her, she was walking perfectly until he put his puffy hand on her back, feeling repulsed she then stumbled.

    • NoShame says:

I believe the jewelry one gets for a cheating husband is called the “Kobe Bryant”.

  5. Rhys says:

I don’t think she is a “horrible” person. She probably just genuinely doesn’t give a shit and is waiting to go back to her life in NY. Nothing will turn her against her feeder because without Trump she is just another former model, single mom, unemployed ex-reality tv wife.

    • Merritt says:

She has helped promote birtherism despite her own shady visa history. So she is indeed a horrible person.

      • tracking says:

This. I have zero sympathy for this woman.

      • magnoliarose says:

She deserves no sympathy. She knew what he was when she married him. When you marry for money, you will earn every penny.

      • Rhys says:

@magnoliarose – if memory serves me right, she specifically stated she doesn’t want anyone’s sympathy (or was it pity) 😉 .

      • Darla says:

Well that works out well Rhys, because she gets zero of it from me. It’s the birtherism tape. She is a nasty piece of work.

      • magnoliarose says:

        @Rhys

You gave me the giggles. This is the one thing I can happily oblige when it comes to her.

    • Lena says:

I don’t think she is a horrible person either. True, she married for money, but we all make our mistakes and she has already paid for hers dearly. I am pretty sure that, despite her pampered lifestyle, she has to put up with much more than me and other women who have to earn their living. We own our lives, she doesn’t own hers. Just imagine how humiliating the life of a trophy wife must be – being at someone’s beck and call, pandering to their needs for pocket money, never respected, never an equal partner in a relationship. I can’t help feeling sorry for her, especially now with all the scandals and the media exposure.
Birther conspiracy is despicable, of course, no excuse for taking part in it. Not her idea though, so I’d say she was stupid, weak, insensitive, but still not evil.

  6. Nicole says:

The fact that these companies are even sitting down with her is laughable. Also laughable is that these companies care about cyber bullying when they allow nazis to use their site

  7. Clare says:

That Facebook has bigger fish to fry these days is literally the understatement of the year.

And that while all this Cambridge Analytica shit is coming out, the American govt is instead engaged in this cyber bullying prevention farce, instead, is embarrassing.

  8. Beth says:

I feel no pity for her. By supporting Trumps birther movement, saying the Access Hollywood tape was just “boy talk,” wanting to stop cyber bullying by everyone but her husband who’s the biggest bully of all , etc, she’s proven she’s cold and heartless. She can leave him if she wants.

There’s a school shooting happening again right now, let’s see if enough is enough and something will be done to stop this

    • Swack says:

Unfortunately it won’t be enough. NRA has them in their pockets and nothing will be done.

    • lightpurple says:

Several people shot. ATF on the scene.

      • FLORC says:

This country is imploding. Citizens killing unarmed children. Civilians are screaming for change. And our goverment is actively ignoring these issues.

    • Beth says:

It’s so sad that when I saw this breaking news a few minutes ago, it wasn’t shocking. These shootings have become a regular thing. Something needs to be done

  9. kate says:

She is a joke. If Michelle O had done as little as this woman, stayed in a golden tower in Chicago for months, people would have dragged her out by her hair rather than elaborating ridiculous theories about her shyness, her “fear”, her supposedly abusive marriage without an inch of evidence. She is just a racist, useless, lying, vulgar woman who only cares about money.

    • Cynical Ann says:

The hypocrisy is what infuriates me. Melania has done next to nothing other than stand there and look pretty. And before people start the “she didn’t run for office, he did” blah blah blah: during the last 75 years the FLOTUS have used their position (whatever party affiliation) to promote causes and things they believed in (as well as raising their children-Rosalyn Carter, Jackie Kennedy). It is pathetic that Fox News and their ilk would call out Michelle Obama for wearing sleeveless dresses but turn a blind eye to this.

    • tracking says:

      Yes, yes, and yes.

    • Lightpurple says:

I understand your point but can we please stop with the “if the Obamas or the Clinton’s …” ? That just plays to the Trumpets’s game & gives them the chance to post their racist & sexist memes. This isn’t a competition and there are 44 comparators, not just 2. No other president has behaved this way and Melania is the laziest First Lady since Mamie Eisenhower

      • kate says:

I understand your point about past presidents and first ladies but the comparaison with Mrs O is especially relevant to me because Melania gets away with all that not only because she is married to Minute Maid Mussolini, a Republican president, but also because she is WHITE.
There was an amount of vitriol levelled at Michelle that was scary, especially compared to the low number of scandals or her relatively apolitical stances (until the 2016 campaign).
On the other side, Melania has been caught up in all kind of scandals by association or on her own (plagiarism, birtherism, lockeroom talk, immigration lies) and is described in many liberal feminist circles, on this very website, as some kind of Victorian heroine trapped in a loveless marriage with a violent man she cannot leave. Again, this is a woman who slapped her husband’s hand in public. She is not afraid. She is as bad as she is, i.e a racist, money-hungry liar.

  10. MostlyMegan says:

Her hand (on his back) has so much fake tan on it, it looks like she is wearing a tan leather glove.

  11. HK9 says:

Oh please this soulless dementor of a woman sold her soul to the highest bidder (ie Trump) long ago and she’ll do what she’s got to do to make sure she gets her cheque.

  12. Nancy says:

Melania is just a more refined version of Stormy. Does anyone in the Free World believe she married for love???? Not a chance.

    • Beth says:

I bigly doubt Melania ever loved Donnie, she just loved his fame and fortune. She’s his trophy wife, and he’s her check writing husband. Not a chance that this is a loving couple who are happily married

  13. CrazyCatLady says:

I don’t feel sorry for her, and I hold no anoymosity for her either. He married her for her looks and model pedigree; she married him for money. They both got what they married for. I’m of the opinion she never thought he’d win, he didn’t think so either, and she planned to leave him after th election, When the unanticipated happened, she renegotiated her prenup to stick around through the presidential tenure. And every time he needs her to step up the wifey charade due to the latest PR crisis — she will go into hiding until he sweetens the pot to her satisfaction.

I don’t blame her for making th best deal she can and gritting her teeth to get through what will indeed end.

    • tracking says:

I blame her. Shallow, no principles, only in it for herself. She exemplifies everything her husband is about, and is no better.

      • CrazyCatLady says:

You do you, of course, Your right to be judgey just like its her right to be shallow.

The older I get, the more I realize I don’t have the energy , the stomach or the adequately complete information to judge others too harshly in life, especially when their actions do not directly impact me. I haven’t walked in her stilettos.

For the record…… I judge her husband because he indeed does impact me.

  14. Lila says:

On the topic of cyber bullying ,what a shame for Melanie the person who needs it the most will never get it. Hopefully Melania is coaching Trump.

  15. Isabel says:

I was wondering if you were going to cover the FB/Cambridge Analytica stuff! It’s huge! Zuckerberg dumped his stocks.

    https://www.reddit.com/r/politics/comments/85p30j/deletefacebook_movement_gains_steam_after_50/dvz4y6o/

Here’s a breakdown on all the Russia oligarchs + Zuckerberg + Ivanka craziness.

  16. Lisa says:

I imagine holding hands with him would be like grabbing onto a dry, scaly fish that’s been lying on the dock in the sun for a few hours.

I don’t want to imagine that again.

  17. Save Mueller says:

Is Dump still claiming the affair didn’t happen? If there was no affair, there’d be no NDA, so how could you threaten to sue someone for violating…the thing you say doesn’t exist…jesus my brain hurts

  18. madonami says:

She probably gets a bonus for every handhold.

    Pay raise. The end.

  19. Tanya says:

She’s in the marriage for the check. It’s obvious and I feel nothing for her situation.

  20. No Doubtful says:

She’s there for the money and her son, that’s it. I don’t think she gives a flying fig about Donald’s affairs or his presidency. I’m sure she has affairs of her own.

  21. Shappalled says:

I noticed Trump congratulated Vladimir Putin on his recent ‘election’ victory. That’s some A-grade trolling right there and a real slap in the face to the UK.

  22. PassTheCovfefe says:

I think she stays with him, sure, for the money. But mostly, for the boy. I’m sure he knows where all of her skeletons are buried (because he held the shovel), and is holding Barron over her head. Not because HE wants Barron, but because he knows how much SHE wants Barron. And her parents don’t have their citizenship. Neither does her sister. He would snap his fingers and get them deported. He’s a rat bastard. Much like the one he wears on his head.

  23. Jag says:

Nicely acted. I wonder how long it took them to get the timing correct on her almost fall?

She’s allegedly in it for the money and he probably gave her some nice, expensive gift to have her act the part this time.
