Alex Rodriguez texted Jennifer Lopez from the bathroom on their first date

Jennifer Lopez was a guest on Wednesday’s Ellen DeGeneres Show, promoting her new single, “El Anillo” and the upcoming second season of the reality competition show World of Dance. After some discussion of Jennifer and Mellisa McCarthy’s “dance off” at Ellen’s birthday party, the discussion led to Jennifer’s relationship with beau Alex Rodriguez. In case you were wondering, the former Fly Girl thinks her man is a “good” dancer, emphasis on the “good” part. Apparently what he lacks in skill, he makes up for enthusiasm. At least he goes out there and gives it a try. Good on you, Alex.

Ellen recalled that when Alex was on the show, he said he thought that his first meet up with Jennifer wasn’t really a “date date.” Jennifer addressed this:

“He always claims this. We have a little bit of a thing about this, because he asked me. He was like, ‘Let’s go out to dinner.’ And I go, ‘OK,’ right? I think that’s a date.”

“And then afterwards, after we have this date, he goes, ‘Oh, I didn’t think it was a date, I didn’t know if you were seeing anybody or whatever,'” she continued. “And I said, ‘I wouldn’t have went out with you if I was seeing somebody else.’ He goes, ‘Well, I don’t know!’”

Things apparently went from being a “date” to a “date date” when Alex shot Jennifer a flirty text from the men’s room. That’s romance. Jennifer recalled:

“It was cute. We were having this ‘not date,’ according to him, and we’re eating dinner and whatever, and we’re getting to know each other. Then he leaves and goes to the bathroom for a second. I’m just sitting there, you know, kinda just waiting on my phone.”

She texted a girlfriend, boasting that she was out with the former baseball superstar and, moments later, received a text that read “You look sexy AF.” Jennifer presumed it was not from the girlfriend she had been communicating with. She told Ellen, “He couldn’t say it, so [he texted it]. I was wearing, like, a turtleneck and baggy pants, so it was really cute.

Ellen also showed off a photo from the couple’s recent Vanity Fair spread, which can best be described as “I see London, I see France, and thanks to Alex, I see J-Lo’s underpants” and described it as a “sexy AF picture.” Jennifer laughed and said, “I do these this and in my mind I live in a universe where I think nobody’s going to say a word about it.” Sure you do, Jen.

The Ellen audience also got to see a bit more of Jennifer’s intimate apparel than they anticipated when, while showing off some dance moves, she flashed her Spanx. In that moment, for the first and probably only time, I felt a unique affinity towards a gorgeous superstar, as I have been caught tugging on my shape wear in public too.

@JLo looks amazing even when she’s fixing her Spanx. @neyo @derekhough @jennadewan

Looks like LoRez is still going strong. For his part, Alex praises Jennifer as a great mom to her ten-year-old twins Max and Emme and role model to his daughters, ten-year-old Ella and 13-year-old Natasha. Jen told Entertainment Tonight that “I’m just trying to be a good mom to mine and the best I can be for all four of them.” As for her Mother’s Day plans, Jen revealed that the kids “always plan a little something” and added that “It’s always very sweet and I try to always see my mom and take her out for a minute. Nothing too crazy.” I can totally see Jennifer as a good Mom and I wish her a happy Mother’s Day in advance.

He really couldn’t bring himself to just compliment her in person? Come on now.

My husband and I sometimes text when we are both on the pot. We have two bathrooms in our home and often enough we are Each in one at the same time so we have a toilet text conversation. Good times.

    • lobstah says:

@Patricia – ha! We do too! In our apartment, the bathrooms are down a hall from each other, and we’ll have conversations while we’re using our respective toilets. We call it Toilet Talk.

  2. Eliza says:

I feel like she already told this story awhile ago. No?

    • monette says:

      I remember that too!

      • Rosalee says:

Vanity Fair interview..the same article which used the photo of A-Rod pulling up J-lo’s dress to her show underpants.

    • NameChange says:

Yes. I guess she really found it endearing (*rolls eyes*). As a forty-something woman, if a guy tried to “compliment” be by adding AF at the end of it, I’d be out and never look back.

    • Alix says:

Yeah, this is an old story. Personally, I think it’s kinda icky.

  3. monette says:

She seems happy, stable, I wish for her sake it lasts. I hope his dog days are over and he appreciates her at the level he claims on social media.

  4. Ally says:

I hate how the tabloids are always like “Egads, we saw her Spanx! She will evaporate from shame!”

First of all, they may not be Spanx, just a bike-short-style underlayer. Either way it may not be because of concerns about appearing fat, but because of a smoother line under clothes (no VPL) and no fears of being upskirted on the Ellen show or by the paps.

This isn’t J.Lo’s issue, obviously, but if you’re on public transport or out in crowded spaces in short skirts and dresses in the summer, this really alleviates worrying about pervs and you can move more freely, since you’re basically wearing shorts with a skirt/dress over-top.

If J.Lo had flashed her panties of her ladyparts, the pictures would be on gross sites in a minute and the same tabs would stage the media equivalent of a public stoning.

  5. ORIGINAL T.C. says:

I still don’t buy this relationship, it seems so commercial. J.Lo’s next image change for new endorsements and Alex trying to go for mini-van respectability also for more endorsements.

  6. B n A fn says:

Same boring story about him texting her from the men’s room. Nothing new to say JLo, are they getting married, give us something new. Btw, is she sucking her tong in the header? What’s the old saying, if you have nothing good to say, exit stage, I’m gone.

  7. barrett says:

I am impressed w her on one hand. On the other she seems desperate to be hot like a young girl, relevant in that way. The ass vanity fair photo seems low class to me and so does the you look sexy AF text!!!!

Any one have manners now a days!

  8. Menlisa says:

She seems super happy. I hope it works out for them!

  9. PoliteTia says:

Maybe the text reflects that J-Lo, A-Rod and the toilet are just filled with crap

  10. Alarmjaguar says:

Apparently I am an old because I look at that picture of her with her underwear and just think: those would always feel like they are falling down. I couldn’t wear those….

  11. maraidh says:

How did The Ellen Show not get fined for showing JLo’s butt crack on daytime television? I am not a prude by any means, but that photo was too much.

PS: As a role model to Alex’s daughters (and Mom to a daughter), how about not promoting the idea that flashing your ass publicly is an acceptable and classy thing.

  12. Vanessa says:

I like her but I dont know why. She is so vain. Is it being a good role model to have him showing her ass and undies? LOL. That photoshoot looks like two very self obsessed asshats
