I honestly didn’t know what to make of the news that Jennifer Lawrence has been quietly dating a “normal” guy for several weeks. I mean, Page Six broke the news so I thought maybe they got some good tip from someone in the art world, perhaps, especially considering that Cooke Maroney is part of that art world. But now I’m thinking that Jennifer Lawrence is such a big star that she’s actually doing, like, boyfriend rollouts. J-Law and Cooke got pap’d this week, just after the news came out about their early-days romance:

It feels like… someone wants us to know that she has a boyfriend. Someone wants us to know that she’s capable of dating normal-ish dudes after she dated a string of dudes which included: an actor, a rock star and an older director. Maybe this is all part of J-Law’s I’M SO NORMAL shtick? Look at her, she’s so normal, she’s dating a normal bro who works in the art world. And obviously, People Magazine got a “source” to talk about how J-Law seems happier than ever.
Jennifer Lawrence can’t stop smiling with her new man. The actress was seen on a stroll in New York City on Tuesday after grabbing drinks with new boyfriend Cooke Maroney. The 27-year-old Oscar winner stayed cool as she matched Maroney, 33, in a simple white shirt paired with a polka-dotted black skirt. A source tells PEOPLE the two have been together since late May.
“They looked very comfortable,” the source tells PEOPLE. “She is smiling like I have never seen her do with any of her previous boyfriends.” The source adds that the two have “great chemistry” and were “holding hands and laughing” on their stroll.
A second source confirmed to PEOPLE on Wednesday that Lawrence and Maroney were a couple after being spotted around the city “several times” in the last few weeks.
You know what this reminds me of? It took me a second to figure it out and actually remember the dude’s name, but this reminds me of when Scarlett Johansson had that thing with an “advertising executive” named Nate Naylor. No one knew who or what a Nate Naylor was, but suddenly Page Six and People Magazine wouldn’t shut up about ScarJo and Nate’s incredible love.

Darla that was first thought as well. I don’t know she’s got people or sources gushing about a relationship that hasn’t even lasted as long as most stores’ return policy. I say that as someone who generally likes her too lol, but hey it is what it is. I’ll be nice and say maybe it was love at first sight and wish her well though.

Well, I also imagine there’s a level of pragmatism here. She’s a major name, so any relationship she has will be relatively high profile. Doing a strategic roll out will avoid having paparazzi excessively prying into her life to figure out who it is. JLaw is good enough at disappearing when she wants, so there is intent in her decisions to show up.
This is a normal choice after some of her other questionable ones

LOL – I could have been that source based on just looking at pap pictures. Yes, she is smiling a lot. Seem comfortable together. They are wearing shirts. (says a source)
Also with relatively innocuous lies are most gossip mags just assuming a celebrity won’t waste time suing? Like how DARE you say we have been together since late May and are now a couple?? Or in other cases like creating a whole story about Megan Markle admiring her mother – even if she never outright said that and it’s all fabricated it’s not like she’s going to issue a denial or sue. I could be wrong and Jennifer’s people are actually behind the story but I tend to think this is just a lot of photo assumption to go with some pap photos to get people to click on the story/buy the magazine. (and it clearly works for bored a$$ people like myself)
If it’s People magazine, I think it’s usually the celeb’s team giving them the “source”. People and E! are publicists’ outlets.
