Prince William’s two-day trip to Jordan seemed to go well, but Israel is next

It’s a good news/bad news situation when Prince William goes on solo royal tours. The bad news is that those tours rarely get any kind of sustained coverage because Kate’s not around, mostly because we aren’t able to talk about fashion. The good news is that at least we’re not talking about how Kate flashed her knickers at another country. Still, I’ve been waiting for William to make some kind of huge diplomatic faux pas, and it hasn’t happened yet, so let’s call it a win for now.

Over the weekend, William traveled to the Middle East to begin a historic royal tour of Jordan, Israel and the Palestinian Territories. William’s first stop was Jordan, where he was welcomed by Crown Prince Hussein. William will be leaving for Israel later tonight, and he will be meeting with PM Netanyahu and other Israeli government officials. It could get messy in a hurry in Israel, but for now, it seems like the Jordan leg of the trip went off without a hitch. It seemed like Crown Prince Hussein was William’s designated tour guide, and they stopped by Hussein’s foundation which is focused on tech, coding and young entrepreneurship. William also hosted a party at the British embassy last night, and then he and Prince Hussein watched the taped World Cup game between England and Panama (which England won). Apparently, William had avoided seeing the score for the entire day, and the crown prince was good enough to host William privately to watch the taped game.

Earlier today, William also visited the Jerash archaeological site, where Kate visited when she was a child, when the Middleton family lived in Jordan for a few years. The Middletons released a photo years ago of Kate-as-a-child climbing around on the site, and William was greeted by that photo when he visited, and he posed in the exact same spot:

I was checking KP’s Twitter, and was surprised at how much William has increased his appearances. It’s good time he did, so I’m quite glad.
I’m wishing the best for him in this tour!

Yeah, when there’s 2 toddlers and a newborn at home. Coincidence? 😂

This is what happens when you don’t make hay while the sunshines and now your little brother has a new popular wife.

So petty and am here for it. LOL

      • formerly known as Amy says:

Best part is that he was awkwardly standing along side an easel of Kate and her family on the same spot 30 yrs ago.

So petty and bizarre at the same time. LOL.

      • Nic919 says:

Standing next to that photo of Kate as a kid was just dumb. He is supposed to be acting like a diplomat and not reminiscing his wife’s holidays as a child. It would have been enough to mention that she had visited there.

      • whatever says:

It would have been odd if he went all the way to Jordan and didn’t visit the landmark that his wife visited and was pictured at as a child. I’m sure Kate and the Middleton’s have loads so nice memories of their time there and have told William about it so it’s kinda sweet he visited tbh. The easel part was cringy but I’m guessing it was host’s idea to do that and not KP.

He’s also going to visit his great-grandmother’s grave on this trip as well.

      • formerly known as Amy says:

The hosts had a picture of Kate as a child? This sounds like Will through and through and he probably didn’t listen to advice telling him it’s awkward.

      • Green Girl says:

I thought it was rather charming that he posed for a picture in the same spot. I didn’t know there was a huge photo of her blown up and placed on an easel near him, though. That looks a bit out there.

      • OneLumpOrTwo says:

Damned if he does, damned if he doesn’t.

      • formerly known as Amy says:

No one would have said that he should have stood next to an easel of his wife as a child. It’s weird and he needs to listen to advice.
Is it cute that he visited the same sight, yes but Imagine if when will and kate went to India and sat infront of the taj mahal like Diana did, there was an easel of Diana next to them. That would be creepy.
He doesn’t listen to advice and he is so up his own ass that he can’t see himself.

      • OneLumpOrTwo says:

And what advice was he given? Is anyone here privy to that information? No one has said he put the picture there himself, maybe he was being polite to his hosts that probably put it there for him and thought it would be cute. It’s not unheard of for foreigners to view a gesture differently than the British. It’s not like he stepped off the plan lugging that picture around with him. It was a kind gesture and I’m glad he went along with it.

      • magnoliarose says:

Visiting the site was sweet but the easel photo is ham handed. Geez. Lol

      • OneLumpOrTwo says:

haha, I said it was kind, I didn’t say it wasn’t hammy. Like when my MIL makes me handmade earrings that are to put it politely, less than cute. They get worn one time and one time only. I hope he has a sense of humor and takes it home with him for her to autograph.

      • Nic919 says:

The British Embassy brought the photo and easel. It wasn’t from the Jordanian government. So he could easily have nixed posing by the photo. Visiting the site is one thing, the photo was just dumb and doesn’t look professional.

      • Lizabeth says:

Nic919– I also read the Jordanians were surprised to see the easel there. I can’t imagine who would have thought it was a good idea. Obviously the media would publish side-by-side photos anyway. So no need for an actual blow-up of Kate to be displayed on this “diplomatic” tour.

      • SK says:

The hosts would have pulled out the photo on the easel, not him. I used to live in Jordan, I can totally see them doing that. Family is everything in the Middle East.

      • Lluv says:

Lizabeth, your first sentence isn’t true at all. They arranged for the pic to be there. SK, +1.

      • Lizabeth says:

@LLUV–Wrong. It most certainly is true that, as I said, I read that. It may not be true that they were surprised. That’s why I couched my comment in terms of what I had read. Still think it’s really lame no matter who did it. But if it was clear Will only wanted to visit the site because Kate had, I guess I can imagine the hosts doing it. What a silly photo “for the history books” though.

  2. Mara says:

    6-1!
I know its only Panama but I’ll take victories where we can find them.

    • Cee says:

This World Cup has turned out to be full of surprises, so take your wins wherever you can.
Argentina is about this close to being disqualified. Russia is suddenly a powerhouse team and Germany is barely making it through. Brazil is tethering. I feel either Belgium will win the Cup or some team like Japan will. It can go either way.

      • Lluv says:

IKR! All of the big teams are withering. So strange.

      • Masamf says:

I’ll bet my last $ Russia is doping.

      • Lady D says:

Astounding Russian play, I hope they’re not doping, but who knows? At the moment it is 2-0 for Uruguay over Russia.
Soccer starts at 4:00 am so I only caught the last ten minutes of England’s play. I didn’t think it was possible to get six goals a game in pro socc, I mean football.

      • Cee says:

Lady D – did you miss Brazil-Germany during the last WC? Game ended 1-7

      • Mara says:

Agree, I think Belgium are the most likely to win although I wouldn’t count out Germany and Spain just yet.
Hopefully Russia aren’t doping. I wouldn’t be surprised but I don’t think you can put their performance all down to drugs. You can’t underestimate the power of a home crowd and momentum.
Genuine question, does anyone know if there are performance enhancing drugs that improve teamwork and tactical thinking?

      • Nic919 says:

If Russia isn’t doping they are paying off some of the refs. FIFA is massively corrupt and makes the Olympic committee look like girl guides. Match fixing remains an issue in football.

  3. Shelley says:

Is he close to the Crown Prince? I know he just graduated from military academy William went to.
As for Israel, I doubt it’s a problem. Bibi needs good news/photo of given Sara has been indicted. Jared was also there this week threatening the Palestinians. Israel wouldn’t dare do anything, Trump goes to UK next month and the Brits are taking pains to keep him isolated. Israel will not do anything to bring light on itself or highlight Trump/Bibi alliance

    • Lizabeth says:

You are probably right @Shelley but Will has screwed up even in very supportive tour set-ups (like Canada)

    • magnoliarose says:

I laughed for a full 5 minutes when Bibi’s Strega got in trouble for corruption. Finally! I had tears streaming down my cheeks. She is the worst. Even his son is an a-hole.
You are wrong that Bibi has an issue with 45. He LOVES his fellow bigot bestie who is as heartless as he is.
It isn’t a bad idea for William to go to Israel. The UK has had some serious issues with antisemitism so why not? He’s touring the whole area so it is fine.
It came at the same time Harry is in Africa with this charity. That seemed to go well so I really do hope William has a good trip. I am glad Kate isn’t with him.

      • Lady D says:

She does change the dynamic of the visit doesn’t she? The focus would be on her, hair, clothes, etc., instead of business. It’s like she hijacks the trips with her ridiculous demands (pap on the mountain top) and her expectations that she will be catered to rather than actually be a diplomat for Queen and country.

      • Sage says:

It’s the media’s choice to focus on her hair and clothes when they tour together.

      • BrandyAlexander says:

@Sage. ITA. This first lines in this article is literally that they don’t like to cover Will without Kate because they can’t talk about fashion and hair.

      • homeslice says:

Welp, I guess Will and Harry should leave their little wives at home since all the coverage is on them and their clothes…uh, what do we do here every day of the week?? If Kate were on the trip there would 250 comments on this thread instead of 50 by now LMAO. I LIKE seeing the wives, I LIKE seeing what they are wearing. Doesn’t mean I don’t also care about the serious issues involved too.

      • magnoliarose says:

I like the fashion parades too but ultimately William is the heir and needs to show he is capable on his own.
This trip could have been VERY awkward if Kate had to mix with the wives.

  4. Belluga says:

Please please please say he’s read his briefing notes this time. This is not the trip to fuck up because you can’t be arsed to do your homework.

  5. Runcmc says:

I actually think it’s really sweet that he posed where Kate visited as a child. They’re not usually… openly tender, I guess? But I find this pretty sweet especially since she wasn’t there. Almost like he’s sending the message that she’s on his mind.

    • Sid says:

It was announced before the tour started that he would be visiting the site and posing where Kate and her family posed. Cute gesture, but not spontaneous.

    • NLopez says:

      +1 RUNCMC

    • Lluv says:

It’s been said Kate was sad that she couldn’t accompany him so it is sweet.

    • Megan says:

Jerash is one of Jordan’s crown jewels and is just outside of Amman. It is the obvious go to for photo ops.

Plus it is probably the only place in the world can you see military members in historic dress playing Amazing Grace on the bagpipes for tourists.

    • minx says:

Honestly, I didn’t know Kate lived there at one time.

  6. Mego says:

It is good to see William stepping up and nice that the “I just want a normal life” stories seem to have disappeared. In spite of that I like William and think that he carries trauma from childhood that he hasn’t dealt with. Kate’s unwillingness to embrace her royal role doesn’t help matters either.

    • Danielle says:

I’ve always thought Kate does exactly as much as William wants her to do. No more, no less.

    • Mego says:

I think that if you have a strong desire to work and achieve you wouldn’t go along with that, in fact you would suffocate pretty quickly. Just my 2 cents.

    • OneLumpOrTwo says:

How does anyone know that Kate is unwilling? She’s in a no win situation and so is Prince William. If she doesn’t stay home at least part time with her kids then she’s accused of being an absentee parent, if she stays home then she’s lazy. Frankly, I’m glad she works part time, why would anyone want a repeat of the Windsor’s childhood? These kids are growing up with two loving parents who make extra effort to spend as much time with them as possible. They are very fortunate they are able to do so at this tender age. I have not doubt that the time they spend with them now, will positively impact how they view the world around them. Considering how much pressure and scrutiny they will face the rest of their lives they will need it. I imagine that given William’s own childhood, he puts a lot effort into ensuring his children grow up with a stable home life and as little controversy as possible. I work with teenagers and I often see this a lot from the teens that come from single parent households, at least with the more thoughtful ones, this yearning for a stable family life.

Sorry to get on a soapbox, but I don’t understand why people rag on Kate so much about wanting to stay home with her kids. when women across the country are making the same choice and for good reason. I also think all the rumors of her spending her days shopping and getting her hair done are just mean spirited and there is very little evidence to support it, but I see this digs at her so often. She is clearly a loving and very hands on mother and wife. I swear the way people endlessly tear down this family, makes me just want to defend them more and more.

      • formerly known as Amy says:

Women across the country aren’t future Queens. If that was the life she wanted then don’t stalk a future king for 10 yrs or be like Chelsy and bow out.
Chelsy didn’t want the royal life and so she bowed out.

      • OneLumpOrTwo says:

Who says she doesn’t want the royal life and why should she walk away from the man she loves because of who his family is? She has more than enough time to step into the role of queen, right now her children are more important to both her and William. She is balancing both work and motherhood right now and doing a fine job of it.

      • magnoliarose says:

I rag on her because her work is barely part time and she lives on the luxury dole program given to her by public tax money. It is poor form not to do her duty. She has a slew of staff and 20 hours a week dressing up and smiling is not hard manual labor.
I do not for the life of me understand making excuses for any of them and since she has not earned the family orders in 7 years it means she isn’t pulling her weight. If she wanted a total life of leisure a wealthy man without royal duties would have better suited her.
Come on she isn’t a child or special or exempt. All the other women manage so she should too.

      • OneLumpOrTwo says:

ok, since none of us really know how hard her job is, I’m going to stick to my position that she is doing a fine job until she turns 40 and her kids are in school full time and she has all day to work a loaded up schedule. If she hasn’t kicked it into high gear by then, I’m kicking her to the curb. So, I’ll get back to you on this.

      • Nic919 says:

All the other royal wives actually attend more engagements than Kate ever has and yet the country isn’t accusing Sophie or Anne of abandoning their children. Even at full capacity Kate will never ever have to work a 40 hour per week job like other women in the UK. Only Kate chooses not to work. She also doesn’t take a discount on all the clothing and other luxuries she gets even though she doesn’t work half as much as any other royal woman in recent history.

She doesn’t need to be strapped to her children 24/7 to have children that are well adjusted as they could be in this situation. And in fact she has not. She has taken several vacations without her children in the early years which by your argument she can’t do because they will be damaged.

Also her work consists mostly of spending about an hour somewhere in the UK shaking hands. That is not hard work. She can’t even do the minimum that every recent royal wife has done. She has taken more time to go shopping and get her hair done.

Finally let’s not ignore that Nanny Maria is there non stop along with another nanny for Louis. And she has housekeepers and cleaning staff. Kate doesn’t run a household like an regular person. There is little she is required to do. She has time to step out for work. She certainly was able to go to a polo event for several hours recently and Louis wasn’t anywhere to be seen. So clearly she can take an hour for work and be away from the baby.

      • Belluga says:

OneLumpOrTwo – Let’s say Kate worked two days a week. Royal commitments aren’t exactly a 9-5 thing. She could start late morning, knock out three engagements and be home in time for tea, easy. And that gives her five completely free days to as well. As part time goes, that’s pretty generous and vastly in favour of time at home.

3 engagements on each working day, 2 working days a week, 52 weeks a year makes 312 engagements. Add in a short tour or two and she’s laughing. That would still give her heaps of time that’s completely her own to spend with the kids so that their development isn’t stunted by having a mother who works. Win-win.

Just as a reference point, 312 would more than triple her 2017 engagement total, which was a pretty good year for her.

      • OneLumpOrTwo says:

All the other wives aren’t nearly as scrutinized as Kate is nor do they bring as much interest as she does. So yes, it would be easy for them to slip in and out of events without all the fuss of media and security. The other wives will never experience to pressure or stress of having your every move photographed. Anne is also much older than Kate with grown children and Sophie barely did more engagements than Kate in 2017 and her children are much older than Kate’s. Kate has steadily increased her working numbers year after year, which is to be expected and it’s likely she’ll take on more as her children get older.

She has every right to take vacations with or without her children although off the top of my head, I can’t name one single vacation she has taken without them since they were born. If anyone can name them all, that would be great! No one said her children would be damaged if she isn’t with them 24/7 or because she takes a vacation, that is quite a leap from what I actually said. Nanny maria isn’t there nonstop because that would be illegal and dangerous to ask someone to work 24 hours a day. God forbid, she has housekeepers for that enormous house of theirs, I can just imagine her now…hold the baby wills, I have to scrub our 15 toilets. Now she’s being dragged because she took her kids to a polo match to see their daddy? Thankfully, she took them in a $60 dress!

      • OneLumpOrTwo says:

She isn’t going to work 52 weeks a year, nobody else in their family does either. And it isn’t as easy as just popping in and out of events one after the other. Meghan and the queen went to two events together in one day and there was quite a bit of fuss involved.

      • Lizabeth says:

I’m not going to pretend I can name all the vacations Kate’s  taken without her kids (we likely don’t know about all of them anyway) but here’s a couple @Onelumportwo. One, the “babymoon” (a week?) she & Will took when George was 8 months old and two, the long Commonwealth Day weekend in 2017 when Will was caught dad-dancing with blondes in Vernier, Kate was at Pippa’s hen party in Meribel. The latter was particularly surprising since both self-professed “hands-on parents” Kate and Will were at multi-day ski parties abroad at the same time and weren’t together. And the parties they were attending were events they certainly had input into scheduling.

I’m not buying that it’s somehow more difficult for Kate to attend multiple events on the same day than it is for Anne or Sophie. Whenever Kate is found lacking compared to other female royals there’s always a reason given why Kate can’t do what they do. Now it’s that she attracts too much attention? Regardless of the attention she gets at an event, Kate rarely stays for more than about an hour. She’s even left dinner events before dessert was served, behavior many people would consider rude for a guest of honor so she has no trouble exiting events to fit her desired schedule. (She wasn’t leaving those events to attend another event either. Just as she didn’t have another engagement as was claimed when she left the HuffPo event at KP to go shopping.) There’s no rational reason she can’t do multiple events on a given day (she’s done it before, just not very often.) But let’s say doing 3 events in a day is just too much for Kate (even though in his 90s Philip managed to do 3 events in a day many times) how about 2? That way with a tour or two thrown in she would more than double her 2017 activity level! While most years she outworks Kate I don’t know what Sophie’s count was last year. But in 2017 she did a multi-day solo trip to Bangladesh (her second visit.) Over the years as a working royal Sophie’s also made multi-day solo visits to India, the US, Zambia, Malawi, Norway, Canada, and Qatar. And while she’s married to the person who’s 10th in line, not the person who is 2nd, Sophie did more events the years her children were born than Kate ever has, before or after children. The few (2?) one-day solo trips abroad Kate has done have allowed her to be home for dinner. Anne has been a workhorse for years, of course.

The idea that Kate will step up “later” seems unlikely. Someone who doesn’t have the usual work to do at home that most SAHMs do (Will spoke of her fondness for sitting in the garden sketching when they lived in Norfolk), and has never in her life worked outside the home on even what would be called a much less than part-time schedule for anyone else, doesn’t suddenly become a hard worker in her 40s, 50s, or 60s.

      • Belluga says:

The point is that it would be very easy for Kate to increase her engagements significantly while barely limiting her time at home at all. It’s just been very clearly established by niw that she simply doesn’t want to.

Lizabeth – For reference, Sophie’s 2017 engagement count was double Kate’s.

      • Lizabeth says:

Thanks @Belluga. If Sophie did double the numbers of Kate in 2017—including multi-day solo royal trips abroad, something Kate’s never done– and that is “barely more” than what Kate did, then Kate certainly should be able to match Sophie’s 2017 numbers without hurting her children. Sophie’s kids are older, sure. But she worked alot when they were younger too. Of course, Kate can take vacations but isn’t it odd “leaving her children” isn’t a problem then, it’s only a problem when work is involved. And often we hear Kate doesn’t need to do more because Will isn’t 1st in line for the throne yet. Well, the highest Edward ever has been is 3rd (before Will was born) and now he’s 10th! So by that reasoning folks should be ok with Sophie doing much less than she does. Instead it seems Sophie is criticized for not taking up even more of Kate’s slack.

  7. Digital Unicorn says:

Because this is the Middle East where women showing flesh can result in being thrown in jail. Her flashing the royal biscuit would have been a major embarrassment not just to the royals but to the hosts as it would been seen as an insult to them. Queen Rania got serious crap for years from the Jordanian press and society because she dared to show a little flesh in public wearing western clothes.

William seems to do better when he’s on solo visits. He seems more relaxed and engaged.

    • Melania says:

      “the royal biscuit” LMAO

    • TheOtherOne says:

This. I was going to say that Wills looks more relaxed solo. He also seems more poised. He should do more solo work.

      • Svea says:

He especially looks more tense when they bring the kids along. It seems it is his job to wrangle George, who seems a bit like a wild card.

      • Belluga says:

I actually get the opposite impression – that Charlotte is the mischief maker and George is much calmer.

      • minx says:

Belluga, agree. Charlotte seems like the pistol.

      • Lizabeth says:

I agree Charlotte is more extroverted and active in public. But Will is (apparently) charged with tending to George since Charlotte was born. We have hardly ever seen interactions between Will & Charlotte although I assume they happen privately. But on a tour, it likely would be a bigger deal for George to have a meltdown, at least for Will.

    • Pia says:

Hi Digital Unicorn, I thought Jordan was far more liberal that it’s neighbors when it comes to to women’s rights. Queen Rania wears what she likes to wear and is not impeded by a blanket dress code (so no head to toe nikab for her). And to be fair, a lot of people in the West clutch their pearls when it comes to some Royal family outfits here too.

      • tenniswho says:

I agree, Pia. I think the way you describe it reflects the situation in Jordan much better than a blanket statement about the Middle East.

      • Lluv says:

It was the conservative “old head” Jordanians ragging on Rania.

      • Digital Unicorn says:

Jordan is but she got a lot of stick. A friend lived there and she said that women r still expected to be covered and dressed respectfully, I.e. not showing bare shoulders or bar legs. She used to cover up while not wearing the headscarf and she still got harassed by people on the street. Amman is the only place that is liberal in the sense that they r used to seeing western people.

      • Lluv says:

There are 2 different sides to Jordan. The rich and poor. In the wealthier areas, girls can and do dress how they want. The touristy places are always full of women dressing however they wish and no one says a thing.

    • Digital Unicorn says:

FYI I was replying to a post about how it was unfair to mention Katie Keen and her flashing in the article.

    • Meggles says:

Please don’t generalise the Middle East. Jordan and Israel are not Saudi Arabia. In Israel wearing a one-piece swimsuit is considered weirdly conservative, and Jordan is relatively Western. Queen Rania is held to a different standard because she is Queen. Most women in Jordan do dress modestly and cover their hair, but not all. Jordan is a popular tourist destination with beaches and Jordanians are very used to seeing Western tourists wearing shorts and swimwear. I myself have walked around Amman in shorts and a vest top and gone to public beaches in Jordan in a bikini. There would not be any issue at all with Kate’s clothes.

    • whitecat says:

It is good to mention overall however that diplomats and heads of states are NOT subject to the country’s laws. So even if Kate flashes her knickers, nothing is gonna happen to her. Why do you think diplomats for years have opted not to wear a headcover in Saudi despite the fact it is by law?

      • Lizabeth says:

Nothing “happens to her” when Kate flashes in more “liberal” western countries either @Whitecat. But I expect it is terribly embarrassing for TQ. And something she’d rather avoid happening anywhere ever again but especially would want to avoid in a potentially “sensitive” environment.

  8. minx says:

I have to say he looks good on that red carpet.

  9. Citresse says:

William looks like a giant next to Hussein.

  10. Lluv says:

Seeing the Prince’s together is actually very nice! Looks like they’re setting up Hussein and Wills working together as the future heirs. William is finally stepping up! Wills time in Palestine will be interesting. Kate and Will always look more relaxed when they do engagements by themselves.

I think it was such a missed opportunity to not have Kate on this trip. I know she’s on maternity leave, but could they not have left the trip until a few months time? I never knew that the Middletons had lived in Jordan. It would have been great PR for Kate to have re-visted the country.

    • Lluv says:

No, they couldn’t have. Will isn’t just visiting Jordan… This is a historic engagement for a British Royal because they have never visited the region officially, and for good reason. He’ll be visiting/learning about both sides so it’s better that he’s alone.

      • Lizabeth says:

Agree it’s better for Will to have gone alone. Kate does change the dynamic from a serious work event into a celebrity clothes, games & entertainment event. Without her he can say she loved living in Jordan & has fond memories. Had she been there she might have been asked about her memories of that time & I doubt she’d have had much to say. The Midds moved there a few months after Kate’s 2nd birthday and left in Sept before she turned 5 in January. It’s more credible for Will to say she has fond memories than for her to talk about her “many” memories.

      • Danielle says:

I just think it’s a missed opportunity for both to show how “keen” they are about serious politics. And at the end of the day I think it’s a given that Kate wouldn’t remember every, single detail about her time there as she was such a young child. I just think it would have been a good opportunity for her to be part of something substantial.

      • Diplomanatee says:

I agree that it was a missed opportunity for HER and her image, but probably better for the mission overall.

@Lizabeth, allegedly she remembers a few nursery rhymes and lullabies from having attended kindergarten in Jordan. This is according to engagement-era articles from Middleton camp, they were hinting at how she’d be a diplomatic asset, so the scenario had been on their minds for years.

      • BeanieBean says:

Pretty sure I’ve seen photos of TQ & PP at Petra.

      • aaa says:

Prince William is the first British royal to make a state visit to Israel since Israel became a state. Charles and Philip have made private visits, and Charles was scheduled to do a state visit last year but the British Foreign Office canceled the visit.

      • Lluv says:

^ Yup, I was talking about Palestine and Israel.

  12. Guest says:

I was read some comments over at the dailymail. Oh boy they LOVE William now. Hes handsome, hard working and will be an amazing king. Some of those comments had like 2,000 up votes. If those arent bots I dont what is 😂

    • Nic919 says:

So far he watched footie, posed next to a picture of his wife as a child and made some coffee and played with a radio mixer made in Manchester. Not exactly sure where the substance is in this tour.

      • whatever says:

Its there.. you’re just choosing to not look for it. He’s met with Syrian refugee children that are benefiting from a UNICEF Jordan programme, met with teens who are also benefiting from a UNICEF Jordan programme and heard harrowing stories from orphaned women in Jordan. He also has diplomatic meeting with leaders in the upcoming days. Funny thing is if Meghan and Harry did this stuff you’d be praising them.

      • OneLumpOrTwo says:

“Funny thing is if Meghan and Harry did this stuff you’d be praising them”

        Exactly!!

      • whitecat says:

whatever, I agree completely. Look I am no fan of Prince William, but he’s also going to be meeting with refugees in Palestine, and touring the camps. He’s also meeting wtih Holocaust survivors in Israel.. I mean actualyl his trip to Jordan, Israel and Palestine sound quite meaty in work engagements… surprisingly for William!

      • Nic919 says:

Sadly the photo stunt with Kate’s photo is what the media is covering the most, which again makes it so dumb a strategy by his staff.

      • Lluv says:

whatever and whitecat, so true! He’s done a lot already, but I guess people on here will always focus on the Kate related stuff. The Jordanians placed the picture there, it wasn’t his staff.

  13. Mo' Comments Mo' Problems says:

Somewhat (un)related, but, Kaiser, any idea why there has been decreased coverage on Queen Rania of Jordan over the years? In the past she used to be covered highly by the fashion pubs. Also, Prince Hussein’s instagram game is strong. 😀

    • Jag says:

Queen Rania of Jordan is in Washington DC, visiting with Melania, don’t know if the King is with her, most likely otherwise, he would be in the welcoming party for Prince William.

    • Lluv says:

Some Jordanians do think she spends very excessively, especially because Jordan is mostly a poor country – look at the recent protests. That could be a reason for the decreased coverage in regards to her high fashion game.

  14. Leyton says:

I’m not impressed. William has a lot of work to do. He doesn’t even look the part of a Future King. He just comes off as socially awkward and a bit of an airhead. These photo opts might pass the “cute” test but he’s punching above his pay grade here.

Also, Kate is the last person he needed on this tour. It would be a bigger joke than what it is. I just hope he doesn’t say ANYTHING in Israel and Palestine. This was the “light” part of the engagement.

    • Lluv says:

Hmm, the British government obviously didn’t think he would be punching above his pay grade when they asked him to go and visit. I mean, they could have asked Charles, but they chose Will.

The u.s. is an imperiled country due to its madmen in government office. Let him come here and lecture on democracy. Why the hell not? It benefits England if its erstwhile partner recovers from the orange plague that has downed us and re-joins the mass of sane countries it has formerly led.
