Here are some photos of Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio on the LA set of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, the Quentin Tarantino film which is a fictional tale set against the backdrop of the Manson Murders in 1969. Just a reminder: DiCaprio is playing the “actor” and Brad is playing his stunt double. Their characters live together, and Sharon Tate is their neighbor. Many believe Margot Robbie is playing Sharon Tate. The film is allegedly about the changing landscape of Hollywood at that time, and not really about the Manson murders. We’ll see.
One good thing was recently announced about this movie: a change in the release date. Originally, OUATIH was slated for release next year, on the 50th anniversary of Sharon Tate’s murder. It was a macabre release date and it caused a lot of wincing from a lot of people. The release date got pushed up two weeks, so now it will be released on July 26th, rather than August 9th. Sharon Tate’s sister has now given the film her blessing, after she spoke to Tarantino and he moved the release date.
As for these photos… remember when we thought Brad Pitt would continue to look like Robert Redford? I miss those days. Redford in the ‘70s was one of the most beautiful men in the world: watch Three Days of the Condor if you don’t believe me. Brad Pitt in ‘70s-style costuming looks like an extra on Dumb & Dumber. As for Leo… meh.

Paul Newman was simply one beautiful man. Matthew McConaughey and Josh Lucas could pass for Newman’s sons..those incredible blue eyes and that gorgeous smile.

He was in KC ( Mo! big distinction from KC KS for us ) filming Mr and Mrs Bridge and my gorgeous girl friend was driving in a convertible and Paul Newman pulled up next to her ( in passanger seat) she looked over and stared, mouth agape, he looked at her expression and burst out lauphing. She said he’s much more ( if possible ) charismatic and beautiful in person!

I used to think the same about his love life but I am not so sure I agree anymore. Some actors keep their private lives private so that it won’t get in the way of how people perceive them. I think for some people it is impossible to separate the two.

I have no interest in this movie whatsoever. The exploitation of a real murdered woman to tell the story of fictional men is just abhorrent, especially when you consider how they were going to release the movie on the anniversary of her death. Burn it, I hope it flops.
QT was being a drama queen attention ho. The release date has been moved and Sharon Tate’s sister is now onboard with the film–I believe he is going to give her the script to read soon, if he hasn’t already. I don’t think the film is about Sharon’s murder at all–QT just released the summary, trolled everyone with the date (well everyone who hadn’t read the script) for attention and then pulled a “you thought I did xyz?” and made the switch.
This movie will be big because of the stars and the notoriety. I am curious to see how it is handled and if it turns out to be any good.

I think he said it was more in the vein of Pulp Fiction….that is probably his best film (my fave besides Jackie Brown and Inglorious Basterds)…..so if he tones down/eliminates the fake blood then he’ll most likely have a hit.
I will admit to being a slight stan, lol! I thought the original release date was really tacky and thoughtless IF the film used ST’s death as a punchline, and not something that didn’t celebrate her life. QT writes really good female characters–villains, heroines, bystanders, etc. So I wasn’t completely sold on the idea that he’d mention Sharon Tate and then not use her character at all. IMO.
I thought Django Unchained was going to be awful, even after I saw the trailer….but beyond the 20 min shoot out at the end, I thought that was one of his best films. If QT edits himself down and tones down on the cartoon blood, then he will have a hit, both commercially and artistically. He’s also all but guaranteed awards attention unless the film is REALLY bad because Hollywood loves films about itself, lol.
I’m really curious about the plot though. I’m half expecting Sharon Tate to massacre the Manson Family at the end, TBH.
Hollywood adores watching about itself, that is so true. I liked Kill Bill because it was like watching a graphic novel and I like IB. He is very good at what he does even if he is problematic.

There is something so off putting and disgusting about DiCaprio that I have not watched any movie he’s been in at all since the thing he did that flick with Tom Hanks about being a con artist. If he was revealed to have been some type of strangler or ripper I would not even blink because he sets my creep meter off so badly.
Pitts been canceled due to his Make It Not Right NOLA mold houses were first being built. So I haven’t watched him in a major role since Katrina.

I watched The Sting the other night. I’ve always been in love with Redford 😍. He’s also beautiful in Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid and The Way We Were, among others. Paul Newman was stunning too, but RR…I’m so glad my mom used to watch all his old movies. He’s been my favorite since I was little. Oh, Brad Pitt resembled RR in A River Runs Through It. BP was gorgeous in The Legends of the Fall too.
If you want to compare them, Pitt and Redford were together in one of my favorite movies, Spy Game, 2001. BP was 38 and still looked fabulous; RR was 65, and likewise – it was before the more extreme work on his face.

Can’t really compare 70s RR to today’s BP. Redford was born in 1936, meaning he was 40ish in his 70s films. Brad is what, 54 or 55 now? He looks fine. It’s that awful hairstyle for the movie detracting from his looks.

Hahahaha, I love you. I always hated that PR spin. One of the beautiful things about 1970s actors, especially Redford, is that they radiated compassion and intelligence, something blank stoner Pitt never proved capable of.

Leo D is forever dead to me, for many reasons, but recently saw the clip from Django Unchained where Leo’s character Calvin is yelling at people around the dinner table and he slams his hand down on the table and breaks a glass. QT and/or another actor were all “he’s so in the moment, such a good actor, didn’t break” and all I could think, it’s ACTING, but no, he’s so real, he took REAL blood with BROKEN GLASS on his hand and wiped it all over Kerry Washington’s face. I think it’s a shi!!y thing to do to another actor and hey, is it not a health violation? It just seemed so disrespectful and I couldn’t help but wonder if he actually deep down really wanted to humiliate her and/or was deep down gleeful in doing that to her. It was awful to watch. Jerk.

I used to think what a lot of others seem to think of DiCaprio: He’s single, apparantly has never forced himself on anybody and as such, he is free to do what he wants. But then he started to date a woman he has known since she was around 8 years old and who allegedly saw him as an uncle…and then it was just to much for me. He seems like a genuine shithead to me now. And since I have no soul, but a lot of free time on my hands, I gloat everytime I see someone drag him. And this movie…it’s going to be a boxoffice hit and will probably get raving reviews, but I truly hope it crashes and burns. It may not be about the manson murders, but they sure as hell sold it as such to begin with (proudly announcing its release date on the 50th anniversity of the murders), then it seemed like they backpedaled when it people didn’t become immediatly impressed, but it still seems tasteless and shitty.

Supposedly, the murders and Manson brought about the end of the love generation, the hippies, Woodstock, etc. All the movie stars of the day were scared to death and armed themselves well. At the time they didn’t know who killed Sharon or her friends…..Jay Sebring was probably more well known than she as a hairdresser to the “stars.” This story has been told, but Tarantino loves a good cold hearted murder movie. Sighs all around.
QT has never shown himself capable of subtlety without exploitative violence layered on top. He has no capacity to handle this material intelligently or sensitively.
His views on the Polanski situation make him worse than the Guardians of the Galaxy guy and that guy just got canned, while QT goes on filming this steampile (I guess it’s fine cause he said it on the radio and not on Twitter?). Also, his treatment of Uma Thurman is equivalent to assault, in my opinion. It’s a matter of centrimetres that she isn’t dead or in a wheelchair today. A pox on Leo and Brad and Margot for using their star power to try to rehabilitate him.
I’ll watch it I enjoy most movies with these two in it.

It’s interesting how over the course of the last few decades J.Q. Public has been groomed to embrace misogynistic directors as “brilliant”, misogynistic actors as “good actors”, and macho misogynist themed movies as desirable. I don’t care if this is dubbed by the mysterious powers that be as the best movie ever made, I’d done with the excuses to gather the good old boys in all the best roles – no matter how “good-looking”, with the obligatory attractive, female sex-object(s). Done.
I was never into young Brad Pitt, so seeing him age doesn’t upset me, in fact it makes me respect him a tiny bit more for not going the Tom Cruise waxwork route. I think it was unfortunate he was compared to Redford so young because they worked together and there was a small resemblance, to me they never really seemed that similiar. Redford aged impeccably, not as well as Paul Newman but there is a grace in ageing, I wish we let both men and women age with the same standards though. This movie does not interest me at all especially given Tarantino’s abusive skeevy background of violence towards women on his sets, are we supposed to forget what he did to Uma? No thanks.
