Please enjoy these photos of Duchess Camilla eating ice cream with Judi Dench

I don’t have a real reason for covering these photos, I just enjoyed them. It makes me happy to see two older broads eating ice cream and enjoying each other’s company. On Tuesday, the Duchess of Cornwall stepped out on the Isle of Wight to see some of the newly refurbished “private beach” accommodations in East Cowes. The whole area was once Queen Victoria’s private beach, which was close to Victoria’s summer home, Osborne House. The Durbar Room has been restored and I assume all of this is just for tourism – you can read more here at Hello Magazine.

Dame Judi Dench recently played Queen Victoria in Victoria & Abdul, a wonderful (if sad) little film, and a true story of Victoria’s late-in-life friendship with an Indian manservant. After filming – ?? – Dench became the celebrity patron to Osborne House. So that’s why Dench was invited, and she and Camilla got along very well. They ate ice cream on the beach and chatted amicably.

Who do you enjoy more, Dame Judi or Duchess Camilla? I would have a drink with either of them, quite honestly. They both seem like they would be so much fun.

They should do a road trip.

    • Lex says:

…and a reality show filming that trip

    • Harryg says:

They should! They should tour European castles and mansions, drink sherry and eat those tiny cucumber sandwiches. And Judi would be a prankster like in Tracey Ullman Show.

      • Betsy says:

If they put an appropriately historic/architectural spin, I bet the Royals would ok that. I would watch it.

      • notasugarhere says:

If they brought along Lucy Worsley or Bettany Hughes I’d want to watch it even more.

  2. OriginalLala says:

now if they were drinking G&Ts instead of eating ice cream I’d be more into this!

  3. Jane says:

I LOVE Judy Dench. I actually cried at the end of Skyfall when her character died, just because she is such a blooming good actress, but will miss her in the James Bond series.

    • Aang says:

I love her too. As Time Goes By is one of my all time favorite British tv shows.

      • Mamunia says:

Mine too! Judi Dench is my absolute Favorite!

      • notasugarhere says:

And her earlier one, A Fine Romance, when it was considered shocking two adults would live together before marriage. Love Best Exotic Marigold Hotel too.

      • Jane says:

I loved that show as well. Here in the states it played on PBS, but sporadically.

      • Jan90067 says:

I love that show!! She also did another, with her RL husband, “A Fine Romance”, I think it was called? Judi is a treasure, I can watch her read a phone book.

Last time I was in London, almost 2 yrs ago, I had the immense pleasure of seeing her and Kenneth Branagh do “Shakespeare’s A Winter’s Tale”. The performances were just mesmerizing!

    • Harryg says:

Oh, I forgot she died indeed…

  4. damejudi says:

    damejudi approves!

  5. Maum says:

    I want a 99…..

  6. Abby says:

    Love this!!

  7. Ladykeller says:

I know there is not a lot of love for Camilla but I’d love to have drinks with her. I think she’s e a hoot.

    • Gigi LaMoore says:

Many people love Camilla. She has done the work to change the negative perception of her. Just think, Prince Harry was allowed to marry MM due to The Queen learning from this Charles/Do/Camilla situation.

    • enike says:

Lady, I am not sure why you think there is not a lot of love for Camilla… ?

  8. Bettyrose says:

Great to see Dame Judy! Ten years ago, she seemed to be in everything, from Bond films to never-ending indie productions to West End theater…lately she seems less ubiquitous, so I’m glad to see she’s doing well.

    • Who ARE These People? says:

She has age-related macular degeneration (IIRC) and maybe that’s making some things harder?

      • Bettyrose says:

Who, I didn’t know that, but it makes sense that with age she’d want to wind down on projects (she was doing more than seemed humanly possible for awhile). She looks great and seems to be having fun.

      • Jan90067 says:

I read an interview where she said she gets scripts printed in VERY large print, and she has friends that help her orally learn the lines by reading it to her over and over so she can memorize it. She’s amazing.

  9. Dixiebells says:

Everything about this is perfection lol. And I really want a dame/duchess buddy road trip movie now.

  10. Lightpurple says:

Dame Judi has played Victoria several times now. Victoria & Abdul is a lovely but sad film with gorgeous costumes.

Judi and Camilla are both rumored to have bawdy senses of humor; they probably really enjoyed one another

    • Digital Unicorn says:

I would love to have some wine or G&T’s with these 2 – Cams is allegedly a hoot and we know Judi is hilarious (i love it when she’s on Graham Norton where that bawdy humour comes out).

  11. Enough Already says:

I’m glad Duchess Camilla is living her best life and I could care less about the old Diana stuff but please stop trying to make her happen.

    • Jane says:

But Camilla is happening? She’s going to be Queen Consort so she’s not going anyway where.

    • Gigi LaMoore says:

      She’s happening in my book.

    • Enough Already says:

Maybe you’re right but I just can’t with the sugar. I’m not a hater – in fact I think it’s not fair that she doesn’t use the Princess of Wales title that comes with her rank but still…she left a woman trapped in her car after causing tbe crash and it was quietly swept under the rug. That woman could have been severely injured…

    • Tina says:

Personally I love that duchesses of a certain age can be considered fabulous. As someone said on twitter, I really like this UK remake of Grace and Frankie.

      • Enough Already says:

This is my conflict. I like Camilla’s vibrant years and her support of rape victims. I just don’t go gaga because there are women out there with more integrity who would work ten times as hard for 1/10 of the luxury and privilege.

      • Tina says:

Yeah, that’s absolutely true. But I feel like it could be said about Kate too, and most of the royals. Not the Queen or Princess Anne, but most of the rest of them.

      • Enough Already says:

        Tina
Agree although as far as we know Kate and the younger royals don’t even have health issues. Sad.

    • grumpy says:

**couldn’t care less*, could care less means you do care! See: https://youtu.be/om7O0MFkmpw

Dame Judi is life goals for me.

  13. Cerys says:

Nice pictures. I imagine a day out with these 2 ladies would be good fun. Osborne House is lovely and well worth a visit if anyone is ever in the area.

  14. Kiki says:

I absolutely love these photos. They really enjoy each other’s company.

  15. Jb says:

this looked like a fun engagement for both women! I love the photos.

  16. Harryg says:

We need more posts like this! I’m in a good mood now.

  17. Barcelona says:

I really enjoyed Judi Dench in Victoria & Abdul, she was great and the film was lovely, unfortunately, it didn’t get much attention.

It’s so nice to see a movie without everything being blown up, full of violence, comic book heroes and guns.

Not enough good human interest movies are made.

I’m no fan of Camilla, but I wish her the best.

I hope they enjoyed their day and each other’s company.

For more fun Dame Judi stuff, check out Muse of Fire https://globeplayer.tv/museoffire

There’s actually a fun documentary film in which two guys Dan and Giles go on a road trip asking people, including a large chunk of the British acting community, about Shakespeare. To them, Dame Judi was their big catch and her segment is full of love and humor, just delightful. The website also has the full interviews they did with people that they couldn’t include in the film.

  19. JanetDR says:

Judi, judi, judi, I just love her !

  20. Jaded says:

    Seeing this made me happy!

  21. Laura says:

I would love to have an adult beverage with these two ladies 🍻 I love Diana, and feel heartbroken for the sorrow she experienced because of her husband’s affair with Camilla 😔 I pray Diana is at peace wherever she is ❤ That being said, I do believe that both Charles and Camilla deserve to be happy and that they are likely remorseful for the pain they caused with their affair. I know someone who briefly met Camilla and she said Camilla is very kind, down to earth – nothing snotty or artifical about her 😊

  22. Max says:

There is a picture of Camilla at Princess charlotte’s christening, where Camilla was looking at the young Princess like she wanted to take her out of Kate’s arms and kiss her little cheeks until they turned pink. I immediately softened towards Camilla after that.

  23. Potemkin says:

This is the post I did not know that I needed! I really enjoyed it.
