Caitlyn Jenner: The trans community didn’t support me when I voted for Trump

Caitlyn Jenner is still trying, but I don’t respect her efforts at all. Do you realize it’s been more than three years since her Diane Sawyer interview? Time flies. Caitlyn took part in Variety’s Transgender Issue, all about transgender actors and activists within Hollywood and what they’re doing for the trans community as a whole. Cait wasn’t featured on the cover, but she got a long write-up, and she did her first interview in months. Caitlyn wants you to know that she’s been working on the downlow for trans issues, even if no one believes her. You can read the full piece here. Some highlights:

She’s no longer everywhere: “I don’t do a lot of media. I don’t want to be seen everywhere. Today, I’m very politically involved. Nobody really knows it. I do it very quietly because I have been so criticized by the liberal side of the media. I can get more things done if I don’t stick my nose into everything publicly.”

Being rejected by the trans community for supporting Republicans like Ted Cruz & Donald Trump: “No matter what you say or do, they think you don’t get it because you’re this kind of white, privileged person,” says Jenner. She disputes the notion that she hasn’t worked hard, or that her wealth disqualifies her from being an advocate. “I haven’t turned my back on anybody,” she says. But Jenner has received a cold shoulder from some of her peers: “I’ve felt it big time, and it hurts. Sometimes this community can be really tough.”

She goes to Washington every month to meet with legislators: “I met with Paul Ryan. I’ve met with just about everybody. Publicly, they aren’t supportive of transgender rights. I’ve never had anybody not be nice to my face.”

She’s disappointed that Trump hasn’t done anything for the trans community: “Get over it! I honestly don’t know what happened when he got in there. It was extraordinarily disappointing. He’s not been doing a very good job, but it’s not over yet.”

She won’t confirm that Sophie Hutchins, a 22-year-old transgender woman, is her girlfriend: Hutchins is at her house on the day of our interview, and she follows us into Jenner’s office to listen to our conversation. Although they sound like a couple — Jenner asks Hutchins for the name of the last great movie they saw together (Hutchins suggests “I, Tonya”) — they deny that they are. “We are not going to get into that,” Jenner says. “But we are very close. We do a lot of things together. We’re kind of inseparable. We’re the best of friends.” Regardless of the nature of their personal relationship, Hutchins is the executive director of the Caitlyn Jenner Foundation, which was formed last year to advance transgender rights.

[From Variety]

Caitlyn truly, truly doesn’t see what’s wrong. She doesn’t understand, she lacks the critical thinking necessary to put two and two together: the transgender community didn’t support her because she was supporting politicians who openly despised transgender people. She literally voted for the politicians who had the longest histories of hateful rhetoric against the trans community, and then Cait was like “OMG why don’t you guys support my choices?”

As for Cait’s relationship with Sophie, a 22-year-old… I mean, by all means, date someone young enough to be your granddaughter. But maybe don’t make her director of your foundation? Yikes.

Oh honey, it wasn’t just the trans community…

    • BlueSky says:

She’s like the Ben Carson of the trans community. Clueless, out of touch…

    • C says:

      lol exactly!

    • j says:

“I’ve never had anybody not be nice to my face” – thou privilege cup doth overflow.

      • Raina says:

So she admits they didn’t support her publicly. Check.
Trump is doing a bad job. Check.
The trans community is suffering from the hate filling the W.H.. check.

And heeeeere comes Caitlyn all confused, as usual, desperate to save one friggin dollar on her lifestyle, most which include terrible wardrobe and frosted lipstick.
        Check.
        She’s gross

  2. Lexilla says:

Umm, no sh*t they didn’t support you.

    • Char says:

Bruce was the most sympathetic of the whole Kardashian-Jenner klan, but Caitlyn is the worst. How can someone demand support of a community that is persecuted by the men she voted for? It’s just like asking jews to support you while you voted for Hitler. How can someone be really so dumb and evil?

    • Flan says:

Maybe she should have supported the trans community by not voting for Trump.

      What a dumbass.

  3. minx says:

That’s really rich, criticizing the “liberal side of the media” because they call her out on her BS.
I’ve run out of ways to describe this self-centered, pampered Trump voter.

    • Betsy says:

Stupid comes to mind. I just look at her face and see vapid.

    • Christin says:

Lest anyone forget her smug Sawyer interview line about how she had the biggest storyline of all. That always stood out to me, as well as what an absent parent she’d allegedly been to the older kids.

Oh, but sure, it’s just politics.

    • Tiffany :) says:

Caitlyn says “Get over it!”, meanwhile people’s families are being actively harmed by this administration’s immigration policy, their justice department, their environmental attacks, their provocation of extremist groups.

      She’s an awful person.

    • Neelyo says:

And because the conservative side of the media has been showering her with roses, don’t ya know?

    • FLORC says:

Clueless covers it. He hasn’t done so little. He’s actively attacking trans folks. If Jenner can’t grasp that and still supports trump she is a true moron.

  4. Shijel says:

My eyes. Where are they. I can’t see. They just rolled out of my skull. My floor needs vacuuming so they’re probably super linty. Thanks, Caitlyn. Nice job.

  5. Lama Bean says:

She’s so emotionally immature in many ways. Kind of fits with trump.
Of course the trans community isn’t going to support you voting for the person who heads the party that wants you exterminated or pushed back into the shadows.
I’ve noticed this trend of “conservatives” playing victim all the time. Yesterday Candace Owens was screaming that she and Charlie Kirk were harassed at a restaurant in Philadelphia by “Antifa” for being “conservatives.” They do and say horrible things, then claim liberals are so intolerant when they denounce the bigotry. This is exhausting and infuriating.

    • People like Candace and Charlie just need to be ignored, IMO. They are trolls, not just “conservatives with a different opinion.” Acting obtuse and playing the victim makes them money, they’re the new Ann Coulters.

As for Caitlyn, she’s still the same privileged person she always was. She feels entitled to support from the trans community even though her politics go directly against the that community. She’s got enough money and security to not be affected by trumps policies, others aren’t so lucky. She doesn’t give a crap about anyone but herself so she’s good.

    • Heather says:

They did worse than that, apparently water was thrown. I know, boo hoo the witch got wet and didn’t melt lol. Still, that’s starting to get dangerously close to assault, which will give them the high road! Surround them and chant, yes. Get them chased out, yes. But darn it, dont cross lines that make them look all victim-y and sympathetic!!

  6. Caitrin says:

Oh no, baby, what are you doing?

  7. Aims says:

She’s wealthy and white. It blows my mind that she actually thinks this turd is going to be an alli for the trans community. That’s a total joke. He’s racist, hates women and hates anyone who isn’t rich, white and male. It must be nice living in the land of privilege to be so naive.

    • Killjoy says:

She complains that people think she’s privileged because she’s wealthy and white, and then says sh*t like this: “Publicly, they aren’t supportive of transgender rights. I’ve never had anybody not be nice to my face.” I just can’t.

  8. girl_ninja says:

She’s so disingenuous. What a crock.

  9. Zoid says:

Gosh, her support of the man who is now actively trying to ban transgender individuals from our military has got her in trouble with the transgender community?
    How strange. Not.
It’s not like his views were in any way confusing during the election. Neither were Cruz’s.

  10. Christin says:

Maybe the reason for the back-turning is how it came across that wealthy older celebrity is the one and only individual to travel this road (not just political choices).

Imagine being on that road nearly 30 years ago, in a highly conservative area of the country, as a young college student. That’s my former classmate’s story, and I closely watched whether she (a very outspoken advocate) was buying what you were selling three years ago. Silence speaks volumes, and it told me all I needed to know.

  11. Tate says:

Awe, that is super great that Paul Ryan is nice to your face!! 🙄🙄🙄

    • Lacia Can says:

Really. What point did she think she was making there? That someone like Ryan was truly listening to her because he was friendly and polite? Buy a clue, Caitlyn. Republicans hate anyone who’s not rich, white, straight, “Christian” and cis-male. And they dgaf about trans issues, not even friendly Paul Ryan. It’s almost unbelievable that she doesn’t get that.

    • Tiffany says:

You can bet that Ryan did not meet with Cait until his aide told him the check she wrote cleared.

  12. me says:

Caitlyn, we don’t see pics of you in public anymore because the paps are no longer interested (probably because they are on the Kardashian payroll and the Kardashians love to destroy anyone they don’t like).

    • RBC says:

If the Kardashians decided to ask Caitlyn to return to KUWTK, she would be there in a heartbeat. She misses all the attention

      • me says:

I agree ! The Kardashians also clung to Caitlyn during the time she was getting A LOT of attention.

    • Ronaldinhio says:

Meh, I thought she was incredibly thoughtless to Khloe during her transition
I think in general she is without self involved thought
She talked a lot about her actual daughters Kylie and Kendall and made it clear she didn’t view Khloe in that way. She was pretty much Khloe’s step parent her whole life. I felt the sting of that in my cold dead heart.

She is and has always been a POS to her kids.
The Kardashians made her look good

  13. Kristen820 says:

Shut up, shut up, SHUT UP!

  14. Incognita says:

Oh my gawd Caitlyn, just go away already!

  15. Prettykrazee says:

They don’t support you bc your vote for Trump shows you don’t support them! What a vapid idiot!

  16. Sparky says:

I really wonder how much Caitlyn is being paid to support the giant turd.

  17. JRenee says:

I can’t believe that people are really that obtuse…

  18. tealily says:

“I honestly don’t know what happened when he got in there. It was extraordinarily disappointing. He’s not been doing a very good job, but it’s not over yet.” — This right here is exactly why the trans community didn’t support you when you voted for Trump. Everyone knew this is how it was going to go.

“No matter what you say or do, they think you don’t get it because you’re this kind of white, privileged person” — CLEARLY YOU DON’T!

  19. Harryg says:

    Sorry, I can’t stand her.

  20. Veronica S. says:

B*tch, really? He literally attempted a transgender ban in the military THE FIRST YEAR HE WAS IN OFFICE. Of course community isn’t behind you!

  21. CK says:

Caitlyn falls into a segment of the LGBT community that is less focused on equality (even though they claim it) and more focused on recovering the aspects of straight white male privilege that they lost when they came out. She seems to have no clue that “meeting with lawmakers” doesn’t negate the harm that this administration’s policies do to members of the LGBT community that aren’t in her tax bracket or share her skin tone. She also just ignores the direct attacks on this community from this administration.

Since I’m being generous, I’ll give her this. Even on her worst day, she’s better than Chadwick Moore/Lucian/Milo and the rest of that awful gaggle of Trump supporting racist gay white men.

    • Molly says:

Exactly. Caitlyn spent most her her life as a typical rich, straight, Republican man. That same privilege doesn’t extend to her new LGBT community, and she doesn’t get it. Probably never will.

    • Editor M says:

So true. So sad, but so true. In some ways, she and the Dumpster Fire are a lot alike. All that matters is their fame and comfort – everything/body/place else can burn.

  22. stinky says:

    train WRECK

  23. lucy2 says:

    …is she really that stupid?

  24. philo says:

If it makes her feel any better- I know that it’s a lot more than the transgendered community that didn’t and doesn’t support her.

  25. Lala11_7 says:

Her lack of humanity and decency…is…BREATHTAKING!!!!

  26. Steph says:

She is the epitome of a dumb jock.

  27. AmyB says:

Relationship with a 22 year old? Gross. And I would feel the same way if it was a heterosexual relationship as well. She is the same age as Caitlyn’s own daughters…..that stuff just makes me ill. Sure date, but why don’t you date someone that is around your own age and experience??? Caitlyn Jenner has proved herself to be completely ignorant to the issues of the trans community and I don’t begrudge them for giving her a hard time for her head scratching political views. Do you remember when she had an interview with Ellen and Ellen was trying so hard to understand her views on gay marriage ?????? Caitlyn needs to go away. I was much more sympathetic to Bruce.

    • K-Peace says:

This girlfriend is HALF the age of Caitlyn’s oldest child!! (Her son Burt is in his early 40s.) That’s really disgusting to me. Everything about Caitlyn is disgusting to me, due to her ignorant support of Trump (I’m at the point where I am, unfortunately, filled with HATE for all Trump supporters) and her poor treatment of her own kids. She’s a self-centered garbage-dump of a human being! She cares for no one but herself.

      • AmyB says:

^^Agreed. She gives new meaning to self-absorbed. As if the biggest challenges in her life are what make up to wear, and what clothes to buy. Feel sorry for the trans community that she was made to be spokesperson for their community/ and issues. She is so out of touch!

    • Amy Too says:

AmyB: your comment about being much more sympathetic to Bruce got me thinking. Bruce held all of the same views as Caitlyn, had the same thoughts and feelings, garbled ideology, self-sabotaging political ideology. But because he was then presenting as male, as a middle aged, white, suburban Dad guy, his Republican leanings, conservative social politics, and general air of being all about himself and other rich, white people like himself, was pretty much status quo and expected. He was even likeable sometimes. Now, she is Caitlyn and presenting as a woman, yet holding all the same beliefs as Bruce, and we find her so much more insufferable, annoying, out-of-touch, and politically backwards. Do we hold women and LGBTQ+ people to a higher standard of “wokeness”? Do we expect them to be more empathetic and caring about others, and expect their political ideology to reflect that care and empathy? I think we do, and I’m trying togfigure our how I feel about it. Caitlyn was always transgender and knew she was transgender when she was still being Bruce a decade ago. She knew she was a woman and a part of a marginalized group (trans women), and she was still voting for Republicans and vocally supporting their policies. The only thing that’s changed is that she presents as a woman, now, and we are all judging her politics and ideas more harshly, now. I think this is another example of the subtle sexism that is always at work here in the patriarchy. We EXPECT men to be jerky assholes who only care about themselves and we still find things about them that are likeable or we think of them as just harmless, average guys. But we expect more from women: more empathy, more caring, more tolerance, and we judge harshly when we see a woman who is voting to protect herself and her white, wealthy, upper class, privilege. We have such an interesting example of this concept here with Bruce/Caitlyn who are the same exact person spouting off the same exact ideas, the only difference being that one presented male and one presents female.

      • AmyB says:

Very good and interesting point. I think I meant I was much more sympathetic to Bruce also b/c of the role (or lack thereof) he played in the Kardashian family. He always seemed to be irrelevant and unimportant to them, even as the father figure in the household. I wasn’t so much talking about his/her political beliefs.

  28. Cay says:

So, she has a foundation set up to lobby politicians in Washington and she goes there every month to work with legislators. How long before we find out her foundation has been paying her expenses while she’s having an affair with a Republican Senator?

    • RBC says:

Can you imagine the the uproar if that was actually happening?!! Fox News would go into meltdown mode

  29. Snowflake says:

This is what I hate most about some conservatives and religious people. They love to play the victim. You picked who you voted for, now deal with it. I’m a white woman that voted for Hillary, i’m not going to sit here and whine about how other whites just dont respect me for it. Christians bug me with their fake war on Christmas. What war? Not everyone celebrates Christmas, what is wrong with acknowledging that? And using Happy Holidays instead? But they wanna act like they’re so persecuted. Gmab

    No shit, Sherlock…

  31. Helen Smith says:

    That was to be expected.

  32. Aubrey says:

    Clearly.

  33. agnes says:

    #WompWomp

  34. harpy says:

    Ugh I’ll say it.

While Caitlyn certainly dealt with issues related to being transgender, she also got 60+ years of rich, white, male privilege and it 100% shows.

  35. tw says:

No, you didn’t support the community when you voted trump.

  36. HaHa says:

    No shit Sherlock. Ugh.
