LOL, Melania Trump warns that social media can be ‘harmful when used incorrectly’

Here are some photos of Melania Trump looking terrified as she tried to do an event at the White House yesterday. Melania was actually doing an event for her one and only “issue” as FLOTUS: cyberbullying. Because irony. Melania’s orange husband was tweet-abusing everyone under the sun as Melania said vague words about the harmful effects of social media.

First lady Melania Trump warned that social media can be used in a “destructive and harmful” manner during remarks Monday at a conference on preventing cyberbullying. On the morning that she attended the event in Rockville, Md., her husband ripped into his adversaries on Twitter.

“In today’s global society, social media is an inevitable part of our children’s daily lives,” the first lady said. “It can be used in many positive ways but can also be destructive and harmful when used incorrectly.” Her message was a part of a broader initiative that she launched three months ago called “Be Best,” which is focused on improving children’s well-being, including “the safe and responsible use of social media.”

Trump made no mention of the president during her brief remarks at the start of the conference, though the first lady’s office is keenly aware that her husband’s critics have called her focus on cyberbullying ironic.

Some of the headlines were along the lines of “Melania’s pet issue is one long subtweet of her husband,” and I understand the urge to note the irony of Melania talking about this as her husband spends every morning now hate-tweeting his enemies. But it’s worth asking: why *does* Melania do this? As we’ve seen, people just shrug whenever Melania hasn’t been seen in weeks or months. She’s the laziest First Lady in history. No one expects her to do anything. So why is she even putting up this basic-bitch effort?

Meanwhile, Melania’s office announced that she would be making her first solo international trip. To various African countries. Oh, Melania.

Melania Trump is planning her first big solo international swing with a trip through several African countries in October. The first lady told The Associated Press in a written statement Monday that she’s looking forward to learning about the issues that children living on the continent face, as well as appreciating Africa’s history and culture. She recently launched a U.S.-based effort focused on the well-being of children. Exact dates for the trip and which African countries she will visit remain to be announced.

“This will be my first time traveling to Africa and I am excited to educate myself on the issues facing children throughout the continent, while also learning about its rich culture and history,” the first lady said in the statement. “We are a global society and I believe it is through open dialogue and the exchanging of ideas that we have a real opportunity to learn from one another.”

She added that she also looks forward to highlighting successful humanitarian work and development programs underway in the African countries.

I’m concerned. I actually think Melania will do okay on an overseas trip – she’ll just stand somewhere and pose and pout – but I’m concerned about what her husband will do in her absence, and whether he’ll start a “fight” with whatever country Melania is in at the time. You know how it will start. Trump will claim something assinine on Twitter about Kenya and then Melania will have to dust off her “I Don’t Really Care DO U?” jacket and it will be a gigantic mess.

This is just another passive aggressive dig at her husband. Same thing with the jacket. Everything she does revolves around getting back at him. All of these people are trash and are driven solely by their own personal agendas.

    • pottymouth pup says:

I don’t think she has the depth or integrity to be doing these things to troll him. I think she’s as tone deaf as Ivanka and thinks this reads to everyone very differently than it does

  2. Lucy says:

Man, she really loves the term “global society”, doesn’t she?

  3. Betty Whoo says:

All i gotta say is: LOL!

  4. Beth says:

    Her trolling is hilarious.

  5. Belle Epoch says:

Visiting “shithole” countries full of brown people? Yikes!

    • Jan90067 says:

That was my first thought, too… She’s going to a “shithole” country…with brown people”??? Yeah… poking the bear lol

  6. Tiffany says:

Keep it. We don’t want you.

    -Says every nation in Africa

  7. Beth says:

I know it impossible for her to control what her madman husband say, thinks, and tweets, but the fact that she’s still with him after he’s caused so much trouble with his cyber bullying, makes #Be Best a ridiculous thing for her to do.
How many blouses with pussy bows does she have?

  8. Nancy says:

This marriage is more entertaining than his reality shows ever were. I don’t gaf about her, never have. But, it is so ludicrous when she goes on about cyberbullying when her husband owns the title of cyberbully. This presidency is a sham, it sickens me, and I hate my children are subjected to these entitled, unqualified pieces OS. Rant over temporarily. 😞

  9. Sarah says:

This is a joke. This is our First Lady. This is… I mean, Michelle, Laura, Hills… Oh, whatever. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    • Mac says:

It’s a shame her husband was so rude to the Bush family. She could really use some mentoring from Laura on how to be an effective first lady while your husband blows up the world.

  10. BlueSky says:

This is like Don King dispensing hair care advice

  11. Jan90067 says:

I don’t think Dump even notices anything about her, unless it’s time to trot out the Trophy Wife.

  12. Tash says:

Ah, I don’t have the strength to watch the video this early in the morning. However, as a fellow Eastern European, I do wonder how did she pronounce “inevitable”? For me and a few other peeps I know it is a bitch to say it without swallowing your own tongue 🙂

    • Nanny to the rescue says:

Last year she pronounced plague as “plag” (read the A as Slavs do ), so don’t wish to hear her pronounce any other “hard” words ever. 😉

  13. JRenee says:

The entire administration is a shitshow…

  14. Veronica S. says:

Just deactivated my Facebook, actually. She’s right – seeing her husband’s dumbass supporters on my Facebook was bad for my blood pressure.

  15. RBC says:

I wonder if Omarosa has any recordings of Melania trashing 45?

  16. Valerie says:

And in a rare moment of lucidity, he warned her against heading the campaign because of how he conducts himself online. What a surreal time we’re living in.

  17. Tiffany :) says:

“Michael Cohen in talks to plead guilty to criminal charges”
    (Current headline on CNN)

    So funny!
I’d leave a link, but it was not allowed by moderators.

  18. Rebecca says:

I can’t help it…I feel sorry for Melania. She did not ask for any of this!

    • Tiffany :) says:

Yes, she did ask for this. She went on TV and proclaimed her support for the “birther” theory during Obama’s presidency. She was on the campaign trail with Trump. She’s been a participant all along.

      • Catarina says:

Absolutely right. This woman deserves all the backlash she gets and then more.

      • JayneBirkinB says:

yep, First Lazy is 100% complicit. She was fine with slandering Obama, as long as her inheritance was securely in Donald’s will. Well, at least if she visits the shithole countries, she can add in a few more appearances to combat the “lazy” moniker. But I’m getting a serious “white savior” vibe from this trip. Maybe she’s looking to get the hell out of town when the Mueller report hits the news???

  19. Tashiro says:

Why the Hell does she think her hair looks good. It’s absolutely awful. She looks like she has a hood on her head.

  20. virginfangirl says:

My mother always told me “You are the company that you keep.” Melanie can certainly leave Trump, & even though she’d take a huge financial hit for sure, she’d still walk away with more money than most of us would make in a lifetime. So what I’m saying is, she stands by Trumps side by choice, therefore is just as vile as he is.

  21. Buckley says:

Is she such a lousy reader because of those five languages she speaks?

  22. Shaleah says:

I’m going to give her the benefit of the doubt. Like Kaiser said, she could be doing nothing. No one expects anything anyway, but for some reason she’s doing something and I’ll take it.
