Lady Gaga was bright orange in a sleepy beige Dior at the Patron of the Artist Awards

The 3rd Patron of the Artist Awards - Arrivals

I didn’t even recognize Lady Gaga when I was looking through the thumbnails of the new photos. Last night, Gaga attended the SAG-AFTRA Foundation’s third annual Patron of the Artist Awards. Gaga was actually honored at this (completely random?) awards ceremony along with Harrison Ford, Spike Lee and Jeffrey Katzenberg. It worked out well for Gaga – she’s been Oscar campaigning for A Star Is Born for two months already, and she’s got like three more months to go on this fakakta campaign. Gaga, like Bradley Cooper, is hungry for Oscars. So it’s a good sign that SAG-AFTRA is already choosing to honor her with *something*.

As for her look… her dress is Christian Dior and it’s an utter snooze. I’ve actually appreciated Gaga’s fashion drama in previous appearances to promote the film – love it or hate it, she’s gotten attention, which is her job. So why this sad peach-beige dress? I don’t know. Maybe she really wanted to highlight how friggin’ orange she is these days.

Gaga gave a speech for 23 minutes focusing on mental health and opening up about her own struggles. “We are losing a generation of young people who do not believe that their voices are worth hearing, that their pain has no end, and that their contributions are not valuable enough to move the needle in society and culture… I’m sad to say, but with truth in my heart and knowledge, that we are in the midst of a global mental health crisis.” You can read about her speech here.

This contoured-to-the-hilt makeup look is going to be the blue eye shadow of our generation.

  2. Jen says:

Why is she actually the color of a burnt sienna crayon.

  3. Originaltessa says:

I think she looks cute. Weirdly natural and pretty, even with the tan.

  4. MissKittles says:

She was pretty great in A Star was Born. So I think the honoring is acceptable. Bradley Cooper was better but of course he’s an actor, she’s a performer. He deserves an Oscar in my eyes!

  5. Nova says:

I doubletake everytime I see her. Even after watching A Star Is Born, I still can’t remember her face.

I told my husband that she was in ASIB before we went to see it. He told me after the movie was over that he kept waiting and waiting for her to show up in the movie and didn’t realize until it was almost over that it was her! He’s so used to seeing her in makeup and costume that he didn’t even realize it was her the whole time. lol!

      • blabla says:

Her face is interesting because the shapes of/on it make it naturally easy for her to be a chameleon with it. I know she hates it but it’s really the best face you can have if you love to constantly change your look or wear crazy hair styles/wigs/other costumy looks. One little difference in the way she does her hair or makeup makes a big change to her whole face. If she were about five inches taller, the modeling world would have snapped her up.

  6. Cal says:

Owwww my tits winced in sympathy at the close-up of that bustier thing poking into her.
(Is that her engagement ring? From Claire’s Accessories’ closing down sale? Yikes)

    • hunter says:

The bust of that dress is the most ill-fitting thing I’ve ever seen, Dior should be ashamed of themselves and she should have refused to wear it.

  7. skipper says:

I think she looks gorgeous! She must be using a new makeup artist. I don’t remember her contouring her face so much before.

  8. Pandy says:

i think she’s morphing into Olivia Munn. So many similar faces.

  9. BANANIE says:

This is probably an unpopular opinion but I like the dress. I think it’s graceful.

  10. Sojaschnitzel says:

I think she looks really awesome. I like the dress, the makeup, the poses.

  11. BBeauty says:

Yikes. What an unfortunate look. If the makeup looks heavy handed in photos, I can only imagine what the cake face is like in person with her. The dress looks like something that should be underneath another gown.

  12. Ramona says:

Love that dress, but the fake tan look is a bit unfortunate. Really enjoyed her movie though, her acting is superb!

  13. xdanix says:

The fake tan IS a bit strong, but in fairness to her I think whatever way the lighting is working out here isn’t helping matters- I saw her in a different pose under different lighting and it didn’t look nearly as bad as some of these do. Anyway, apart from that I think she looks really, really pretty in these pictures. I hoe she wins some awards for ASIB, or at least rakes in the nominations, because I thought she (and Bradley, too, and really the movie as a whole) was just fantastic.

  14. Yes Doubtful says:

The tan is a little weird, but I think she looks beautiful with a simple dress and hairstyle.

  15. Anna S says:

I’m sure the actual dress she should’ve worn on top would’ve been amazing but she forgot to finish getting dressed. This is a slip.
