Sigh….it says something about Hollywood that the best they can do is the exact same thing they did three times before (to very good, horrible, and pretty OK results) and make it “fresh” by casting a woman. And then they hope to make 8 more of it. Gee, thanks. Sigh…my kingdom for some new ideas!!! 🙄

    • Steff says:

They are being lazy. They have the writers and the money to come up with original ideas but why risk that when they can just reheat stale leftovers?

      • Tiffany :) says:

Most of it is just about making money, which make sense, as these are companies running a business.

Why pay for new ideas when you have “assets” (stories) that you already own? Why try to break through the social consciousness and get people’s attention with a totally new idea, when humans are suckers for nostalgia and are drawn towards things they already know?

I share your desire for new and fresh stories. They are out there and there are fantastic writers that deserve to be heard. At the same time, when I see movies like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles making hundreds of millions and Widows doing poorly, I understand why studios stick with rehashing. Audiences vote with their $$, and they are sending the message that new and fresh isn’t as reliably profitable as previously known.

Essentially…we need to do better as audiences if we really want the good stuff. They are trying to cater to our wallets, and we keep telling them we like crap.

Places like Netflix and amazon are allowing filmmakers to tell original interesting stories. Hollywood, not so much.

Netflix is a part of Hollywood! Their headquarters is on Sunset.

I just have to laugh that they made it “international” and it still has an American as one of the main two stars. Sure?

Michael Rap*a*Poot is 48, looks about 60, but acts like he’s 14. Leave everything the same about him and it becomes obvious between the looks, the desperate attention-whoring, the racism, plus that 1997 aggravated harassment charge for his treatment of Lili Taylor, that his bank account is the only reason why this Great Value version of Piers Morgan has ever gotten consensual sex. Thank u, Next.

For the life of me, I can’t figure out why they chose to use a 12-year old Fergie song…

Is this Thor and Valkyrie in suits after the fall of Asgard? It will be hard not to see them as such; the movie has its work cut out for it.

What is with Michelle Obama’s Dress. In all the photos it looks like she’s holding it together so it doesn’t show too much. It’s a mess. Those boots though…those are what my Christmas sparkly dreams are made of!

    • Pandy says:

Yes, I wondered that too … normally I would be ALL OVER those boots but … maybe it’s the dress? They aren’t working.

    • Milla says:

I don’t like ths look, but i love that she’s not afraid to mix it up and experiment.

I loved Where’d you go bernadette and was looking forward to the movie, but the trailer looks terrible. I’ll still check out the movie at some point, but Lainey’s post doesn’t make it sound promising

    • Anners says:

I really liked the book, too. I wasn’t thrilled with Cate Blanchett’s casting, but I didn’t hate her in the preview? (I usually enjoy her acting, but didn’t see her as Bernadette). But I love the young lady they cast for Bee. I’ll watch it – but maybe at the dollar theatre 🙂
