Prince Harry did go on the Boxing Day shoot, and Meghan joined him later

Apparently, Prince Harry did join the royal men for their annual Boxing Day hunt on the grounds of Sandringham. Weeks before Christmas, it was claimed that the Duchess of Sussex “ordered” Harry to not take part in any hunt. The reasoning for that claim was always pretty bizarre – the British tabloids always try to make Meghan sound like she’s a vegan, when clearly she eats meat, and like she’s some kind of rabid animal-rights person. She’s not, really. In any case, Meghan didn’t ban Harry from hunting, and Harry went on the hunting excursion with his father, brother and other assorted royal men. Then after the hunt, Meghan, Kate and the Queen joined the men for lunch:

The Duchess of Sussex joined Prince Harry and members of the Royal Family for a traditional shooting lunch yesterday, despite claims that she opposes bloodsports. Meghan, 37, who is expecting her first child, arrived for the ‘cold cuts’ Boxing Day feast after her husband, Prince Harry, had spent the morning bagging pheasants with his father, Prince Charles, and brother, Prince William. She was accompanied by the Duchess of Cambridge in another sign of solidarity between the two women after weeks of reports about their undoubtably awkward relationship.

The merry party took place at Wood Farm, the five-bedroom farmhouse where Prince Philip spends much of his retirement. A Sandringham insider said : ‘The men went out as usual for the shoot after a hearty breakfast. A buffet is laid out of kedgeree, bacon and eggs, cereals and toast to set them up for the day. It’s cold trudging across the muddy fields so you need plenty of sustenance.’

In years gone by the Queen and the royal wives would often be seen following along, picking up pheasants, partridges and the occasional duck. Pregnant Meghan stayed inside in the cold during the morning session, while Kate remained at Anmer Hall, her ten-bedroom house on the estate, looking after her three children, George, Charlotte and Louis. But at lunchtime the Merry Wives of Windsor were all driven to Wood Farm to be reunited- Meghan travelled in a Range Rover with the Queen and Prince Philip, 97, who missed church on Christmas Day.

A buffet was laid out at Wood Farm of cold meats, hot sausages, soup and salads, with spirits and tea to warm up the shooters, which this year also included Prince Andrew and, for the first time, his son-in-law Jack Brooksbank. Princess Eugenie joined her new husband and the others for lunch.

The insider said : ‘There is a special de-robing room on the side of the house and they all go in there and take off their muddy clothes and boots. Then they go into a side room which is specially designed for shooting parties where they toddle around in their socks helping themselves to lunch. The whole thing is incredibly relaxed and everyone is normally in a great mood. Although he can’t shoot anymore Prince Philip loves being there and so does the Queen. She will be delighted that Kate and Meghan have sorted out their problems and that the year has ended on a high with the whole family in harmony.’

After lunch the men continued shooting while Meghan and Kate returned to Sandringham for tea with the Queen and Prince Philip.

It’s believed Harry and Meghan departed from Norfolk last night, presumably to spend time with her mother, Doria Ragland, as did William and Kate, who are expected to spend some time with Kate’s family in Berkshire.

[From The Daily Mail]

So after all that drama and smearing, it turns out that the royal Christmas played out exactly the way I thought it would. Meghan and Harry stayed at the Sandringham main house with the Queen, the Cambridges stayed at Anmer Hall with the kids, and the Sussexes and Cambridges all left Sandringham after the Boxing Day shoot. They stayed for the full royal Christmas – Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day – and now they get to enjoy the rest of their holiday with other people (the Middletons, and probably Doria Ragland is flying in, don’t you think?). Kate and Meg made the effort with each other, and in doing so, they masked the real issue: William and Harry aren’t getting along these days. Also: I love that Meghan traveled with the Queen to the lunch. I still believe that the Queen is a big fan of Meg.

Of course he did. All that fake drama for nothing. Just the media trying to make somerhing out of nothing.

There may be some tension between the two women but the real issue isn’t Kate and Megs.

    • Laur says:

Yep! This just proves that the majority (or maybe even all) the stories we read about them are made up.

      • Serphina says:

Yes and the verb was ORDERED Harry not to partake. They really want her to be the villain and Kate the saving grace of the dysfunctional family. I really dislike how they did that to Andrew’s girls and now Megs.

      • Bettyrose says:

Seraphina, exactly. No way could Meg & Harry have a rational adult conversation in which they mutually decided it’s not the time to challenge this particular tradition.

    • Milla says:

Its Charles. He has less respect than his sons and he is the future king. He must have asked mummy for help. And where is his wife? She is avoiding family outings…

      • Case says:

Totally agree. I think his camp is making up all this drama to make the “Fab Four” look less favorable because he wants to be better liked.

I have no doubt there is family drama and that the brothers have arguments about things, and perhaps the sisters-in-law don’t see eye-to-eye — but that describes many families. I think they have ordinary drama that is being turned into something much grander than it really is.

      • notasugarhere says:

Nope, not Charles. He needs his line working hard and looking good. He’s loving the good PR he is still getting from the wedding, plus having a DIL who works.

Camilla never spends Christmas with the royals. It is her time with her kids and grandkids, well-established for 10+ years.

      • Cal says:

Camilla had a filthy cold over Christmas, the poor thing.
I’m surprised there hasn’t been an uproar about MM’s bonkers handbag, more than anything!

      • Princessk says:

@Nota… Camilla was at church with everyone on Xmas day last year, as in previous years.

  2. damejudi says:

At first (need more coffee) glance, I read it as:

“Although he can’t shoot anyone, Prince Philip loves being there…”

  3. Laura says:

Kate returned to Anmer to look after her 3 children…lol sounds like a beleaguered housewife. Not saying she isn’t a good hands on mom, however those children are very well taken care of, and not just by Kate and Maria.
This is a royal household ( Despite their claims of normalcy) lest we forget, with an heir and a spare.

    • kookila says:

Right?!? Makes it sound like Kate left the kids with a neighbor and now has to run home and deal with all that laundry and dishes. She was probably going home to roll around in a pile of buttons.

      • launicaangelina says:

        Ha! 😂

      • Elisa says:

        hahahaha!

      • Serphina says:

It would have been GOLD for Megs to gift Kate buttons. All sorts of buttons. A kodak moment indeed 🤣

      • sa says:

        LOL!

I tend to think this site harps about Kate and buttons too much, but even I had to laugh at your comment 🙂

      • Nic919 says:

I wonder if she has a button room that she can visit a la Scrooge McDuck?

      • Capepopsie says:

😁 Thanks for making me laugh! 😁

      • Someone says:

I don’t have kids but I do know that most kids start missing their parents after a few hours away. I thibj even if the nannies are around, the kids start fretting if theg don’t spend time with their parents. I’m old but I still remember how much i hated it if dad travelled on business even for a couple of days.

      • Tourmaline says:

Rolling around in luxuriant VELVET buttons……

      • Tanya says:

        Good one!

      • Peg says:

        @ someone Says
Sure they miss their parents, but if a Nanny is keeping them busy, no time for missing parents.
Children are all about themselves at this age, once their needs are met, they’re happy.
Many working mothers without help would not work, because of their children missing them.

      • maddie says:

@someone, I don’t have kids either, but since george and charlotte go to school, they should be used to being without their parents for a few hours.

I grew up with nannies and I never missed my parents when they weren’t around. I mostly forgot about them unless they called and then I would bawl my eyes out.

this summer i was hanging out with my cousin and her two year old daughter. my cousin had a meeting, so i was hanging out at the park with her daughter and the nanny and no, my cousin wasn’t missed by her daughter.

      • SDuff says:

She may miss her children when she is not with them, and enjoy spending time with them.

  4. SV says:

This has always been one of the clearest signs of bias against Meghan. Meghan is a femininst actress from LA therefore she must also be an extreme vegan and angry animal rights activist, despite all evidence to the contrary. Their brains cannot compute an LA actress that does yoga, but also enjoys wild boar as her favorite meal and that they themselves have reporter that Harry went hunting several times since the engagement sothey lose all reading comphrension. People reject whatever doesn’t fit the existing narrative in their head.

    • Peg says:

The media lies so much, after the engagement annoucement, Harry went boar hunting in Germany.
After the the meet and greet at the church, William was waiting by the gate and Harry walked up to him and they had the biggest smiles on their faces, so i was wondering what feud.
Now the latest is Meghan’s baby is coming sooner, because she told someone that it is soon/near??

    • noway says:

Meghan is a feminist, but unfortunately in today’s world a lot of feminist views have become very political instead of just human rights, and when she agreed to marry Harry and become a working royal, she agreed to be apolitical. This is why I don’t understand people and their love of Meghan the activist. She willingly gave up a lot of her voice, and that idea kind of bothers me a bit. Still her choice, and Harry and love may be worth it. Don’t know him personally so can’t really say. I’m sure she can do a lot of humanitarian causes just not anything even slightly controversial more milk toasty, as required by the monarchy. Also, it’s funny soon/near is a relative thing, and it is funny how this became a big deal. Anything for another cute baby story.

  5. sa says:

We all know that Harry hunted after he and Meghan were engaged, so there is no indication that Meghan has a problem with it. But, a lot of people have problems with hunting, so I’m still failing to see how it’s a negative story about her if she was one of those people. Obviously Meghan and Harry are different people and at some point one or both of them may compromise or change a behavior to make the other happy, that’s not necessarily a negative about either of them, just a reflection that they care about each other’s happiness and comfort.

    • wildflower says:

You are right, and also sometimes other people’s views (especially those you are close to) just rub off on you and you think of things differently and even change your opinions.

I have hated all of the negativity directed at Meghan, because one thing for sure, she’s a very bright, well spoken woman, so no way she went into this family making demands of traditions or demanding tiaras or making Kate cry. All of that nonsense was silly and illogical. I think that when Meghan married Harry she was genuinely excited to be able to have a larger platform to make a difference since she was already doing this type of work. I think it really makes her happy and it shows. This is what they don’t like. That and that she just shines.

  6. Char says:

Hunting is so cruel and they are so hypocritical with their conservationist talk.

    • Vv says:

Thank you that’s what I wanted to say too.
Actually disappointed the whole story about Meghan opposing hunting isn’t true.
Goes to help elephants in Africa but returns home for a hunt. ugh…

      • wildflower says:

She may oppose it, but like Bettyrose said above, maybe they realized it is not the time to challenge this particular tradition.

    • TeamAwesome says:

We used to live across from a farm that raised pheasants, quail, etc. for people to hunt. Those birds grow up in the same kind of houses as factory farmed chickens. The few times some escaped to our side, it was plain to see that they weren’t very smart and not very good flyers. At least, hopefully, the birds that are wild on the estate have lived better lives.

    • minx says:

I find it repulsive. I also rolled my eyes hard at the “specially designed” side room where these pampered poodles can walk in their socks while being fed in luxury. All they have done to warrant this fabulous life is to come out of the lucky birth canal or marry someone who did.

    • MargaritasForBreakfast says:

Steak, pork chops, chicken breasts, bacon, and ham come from somewhere. Someone kills these animals. Is baked chicken cruel?

    • Princessk says:

It has been described as a sustainable field sport. All the game is sold, so some people end up with food on their plates shot by Harry and Willam, even though they don’t know it.

    • abbi says:

      This ^^

  7. gm says:

I doubt there was any truth to the media reports Meghan had banned Harry from this shoot. Actually I doubt the feud, Doria coming for Christmas and pretty much all media reports. It looks like they think up something and report it. Sometimes luckier than others ie report a woman is pregnant or unverifiable, someone dating someone (cause then media claims they broke up).

  8. Tw says:

I love the sentence about “spirits” to warm them. Reminds me of that story about all the boozing the Queen does on the daily!

  9. Poppy says:

This nothing bag of royal gossip is just soo Dull… can this site new year resolution be less boring Royals ugh, they made miss the kardashians

  10. Piper says:

@rebeccaenglish can’t bring herself to not lie on Meghan still even after having to report the fact that she made fake news. Supporting animal rights or being against fur, is not the same as being against bloodspirt and Meghan never said anything about bloodsport. I generally trust The Sun less than DailyMail but DM only gets base traces of facts right but intertwined with fake news…. but when it comes to Royal News, they’re literally just making shit up. I have to go research the “reporter” first smh they can’t be taken seriously. This is true with other celebrities as well but especially RF.

PS the fact that ALL Royal Reporters are actively dodging William battles while continuing to make up more fake drama for Kate and Meghan or even giving Sam airtime. Even the story they did make up about William having beef with his bother back 2016, lol why would that still be an active trouble spot seems off. Yes, btothers argue… and on Xmas they did interact at one point on the walk but it didn’t last long. Whatever it is if it’s anything, I hope they figure it out so Meghan can stop being the smoke screen.

  11. Tai says:

I honestly don’t believe Meg and Kate were ever fighting or feuding. I don’t believe Meg banned Harry from hunting. I do believe the gossip press makes up stories knowing the BRF will not correct them. Then when picture emerge that show everything is fine and normal they claim Meg and Kate “made up”. But it was a non story to start with.

    • noway says:

The gossip press loves to pit women against each other. How many stories have we seen where women who have a voice are pitted against each other? Yet people think this was sent from some royal camp against Meghan. This story has been told so many times it didn’t need any instigation. It was inevitable Meghan’s new and pretty, and Kate is pretty and established in her role. Sure they both are smart and have other attributes, but in the scheme of gossip those mean little. Even if nothing was said this story in some form was bound to be written. Wait for dueling Mommy stories. They are coming ,,,3,,,2,,,,

  12. Pearl says:

Meghan traveled with the Queen for PR reasons. I’m sure the Queen is fond of Meghan, but their very “close” relationship in public is to help Meghan’s image. Everything that the Royals do in public is planned.

I don’t think the Duchesses were ever fighting. I don’t think Kate cares about competing with Meghan at all. There was no way they would cause any Christmas drama.

  13. Julie says:

How bored I am of these royals. I have no clue whatsoever why people find any of them interesting, or why the media reports on them. This hunt is another example of how archaic this whole royal lot is with their bizarre traditions. And what’s with calling someone who cares about animals a “rabid animal rights person?” When did we come to equate compassion for animals and a dislike for animals cruelty with extremism? I think blasting birds out of the sky with a rifle is pretty damn extreme if you ask me. Loving animals is pretty normal. It’s literally one of the first things we’re taught as children – “be nice to animals.”

Hunting and animal cruelty aside, anything “royal” is like watching TV static.
