Duchess Meghan wore Babaton & Sentaler for a day of events in Birkenhead

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex visit Birkenhead

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived in Birkenhead late in the morning in England for their day of activities. Meghan has gotten a lot of fashion coverage over the past year, as the British papers try to sort out why Meghan’s style is “different” or why she’s “breaking protocol.” It’s no secret that Meg seems to prefer navy, black and neutrals (beige, cream). Some have even suggested that Meghan doesn’t like wearing bright colors. Well, she’s showing them! Meghan stepped out of the car (Range Rover) in a bright red coat and a bright purple maternity dress. So much brightness!

Meghan’s Babaton dress is apparently a somewhat thrifty mass-market piece which retails for £107. It looks pretty high end, and I sort of wish Meghan had paired it with something on the lavender/lilac scale. Instead, she paired it with this bright red Canadian-brand Sentaler coat which retails for £1,085. She also carried a £1,695 Gabriela Hearst bag. The dress is unquestionably new, but is the coat? She has a version of the same coat in brown, I recognize the sleeves. Also: while the dress and coat don’t “clash,” I’m not 100% sure that they completely go together either. Not everything has to be so matchy-matchy, but I don’t know. I just think Meghan is, like, overcorrecting after everyone talked about how she wears too much black and navy. She’s like, “You want bright colors, I’ll give you some motherf–king bright colors.”

Also: this is Meghan and Harry’s first day of work in 2019. We’ll be seeing them again on Wednesday.

  1. Clare says:

Does this remind anyone else of the outfit Cheryl Tweedy/Cole wore to the American X Factor auditions?

(I like the contrast of the dress and the coat – the shoes I feel are a step too far)

    • Louise says:

I can’t unsee it now! the coat looks better from a distance when not belted.

    • Seraphina says:

Clare, spot on. Shoes were too much. And I agree with the other commentators that the coat really looks bad from up close. I don’t like that it has a belt. Seems poorly done and for that amount if money, it needs clips or BUTTONS (Be still Kate), anything but that messy belt. Looks like a bathrobe.

      • Boxy Lady says:

The belt ensures that she can wear the coat whether she’s 9 months pregnant or not pregnant at all. Built in flexibility.

    • Roux says:

I actually really love this entire outfit, shoes included! This is probably my favourite thing Meghan has worn so far. Not so keen on her bag but I don’t like bags anyway. I mean what has she got in that tiny bag that she couldn’t put in her pocket. She’s only walking around. What could she possibly need.

      • Lady D says:

I’m with you there, Roux. If it doesn’t fit in a pocket, it’s not coming with me. I ‘need’ to carry money, keys and ID. I’m forced to use a purse or backpac 2-3 times a year. For the rest of the time, I’m hands free and I greatly prefer it that way. I even trained my ferret and water dragon to sit in my pocket when we went out.

    • LahdidahBaby says:

I like the red and purple with her gorgeous brunette coloring–she can carry it off. I’m fine with the whole look except for the handbag–am I colorblind or is it brown?!? Wtf does this handbag have to do with the rest of the outfit? Auggggh! A black one or a dark red one would have been so much better!

  2. runcmc says:

I am surprised that red doesn’t suit her as much as I thought it would! She looks lovely, but I think she should leave that shade of red.

    • dogmom says:

I love the purple dress. I like the idea of the red coat in theory, but a) I don’t like the colors together and b) the detailing on this particular coat makes it look like a bathrobe.

Kaiser, I listened to the Royally Obsessed podcast episode you were on! You have to let us know when/if you’re on again — I’ve read this site for at least 10 years and can’t believe that’s the first time I’ve heard your voice! I def won’t listen unless you’re on again though — those ladies seem fun but they’re too sugary for my taste. Like, being surprised that Lady Gaga didn’t win the Best Actress Globe, really? 🙄

    • Erinn says:

I think she looks best in cooler tones – like a more burgundy, wine or plum shads.

I have always hated red and purple together. Not sure why. Maybe because it looks like a valentines display or something, but I like both pieces – just not together.

      • Rosie says:

Yes that’s what I was thinking. I was moaning about lack of colour but these aren’t her shades. That burgundy coat and the teal colour of the wet suit dress on the Aus tour were absolutely beautiful on her.

      • Tzu says:

@Erinn I’m with you. I have an irrational hate for that color combo. I actually love the purple dress, just wish she would’ve paired it with a different coat.

      • Faithmobile says:

To each their own as I’ve always adored purple and red together. This look is a win! And according to Meghan she wears colors that represent her mood. So someone is jolly!

    • Eliza says:

I think because it’s a slightly blue-red, an orange-red would pop on her more.

But maybe it’s the red competing with the purple. It’s not a good color combo in general

      • Milla says:

Eliza yes yes. She needs undertones in orange , yellow. Red is an amazing colour but finding the right shade is a btch.

    • LadyMTL says:

I agree, but I think it’s because it’s the wrong shade of red. I don’t hate it but yeah, it’s not the best. I love the dress though, that purple color is stunning.

    • Junejuli says:

Meghan already has this coat in a different color which she wore to the Sandringham Christmas in 2017. This is like Kate over again buying the same expensive outfits in different colors.

    • KEEKS says:

I think the red would look great with black or navy or camel dress or dress shirt and pants. A pop of colour can do wonders, they are both working too hard to compete. It’s a bit of a retina burn.

    • Milla says:

Its not her shade of red but i do love the color block, it’s so festive and makes her look younger, happier, can’t really explain. I love this outfit.

  3. Tomato8o says:

Could be the colors, but looks like she has a tan. I wonder if they went away somewhere warm over the holidays.

  4. whatever1 says:

The dress and the coat are nice but the colours combination make my head hurt.

    • original_kellybean says:

I totally agree. Red and purple are not a good combination at all. I think she looks great in both colours but not together. Nope.

  5. dlc says:

I love red and purple together!

  6. Dueberrygal says:

I don’t think the individual pieces work well together. There’s far too much going on. The red coat looks too bulky when tied in front, then mixed with the purple dress with the slit in front, brown bag & red shoes it all seems like a color riot! Each piece is competing for attention rather than complimenting each other.

  7. Torontoe says:

I like the purple and red combo, reminiscent of a suit Diana once wore (May not be intentional but sure to elicit she’s copying or honouring headlines: https://www.alamy.com/stock-photo-prince-charles-princess-diana-overseas-visit-far-east-tour-1989-november-20224698.html
And I like that she is really embracing Canadian brands (Talulah Babaton is Canadian I believe – sold at Aritizia).
I wonder if Lainey’s theory that she is belly touching purposely to enrage trolls. She does seem to be doing it almost always. (Her body her choice but it is pretty consonants noticeable).

    • Maum says:

I don’t know if she’s trolling anyone, but I do think holding the bump while shaking someone’s hand (as in last picture) is at best unprofessional (she is working after all) if not rude.
If a woman I was meeting for the first time did that to me I would find it very bizarre. (First instinct would be precious, as in high maintenance rather than cute.)

      • NΞΞNΔ ZΞΞ says:

100% – the constant belly cupping is annoying and overly precious

      • Bethany Karger says:

It’s almost like she wants to be sure everyone knows she’s pregnant and is thrilled. I get it. But I wish she’d give it a rest. She isn’t the first or will be the last. I’ll be glad when she has the baby and this will stop.

      • jan90067 says:

It could also just be an active baby, and her touch calms it so it’s not kicking or doing somersaults inside. WE don’t know… her body, her choice.

      • Bella DuPont says:

But you have to admit……it’s a bit of a bizarre thing to get worked up about……someone touching their own belly……🤓

Now, if she were cupping YOUR belly……😱🤯

      • Olenna says:

If the news media and tabs published only those pics of Meghan not touching her tummy, some people would find another perceived fault. But, if anyone else was cupping or holding, it would just be a natural instinct, right, ladies?
        https://twitter.com/PaganTrelawney/status/1084867119882399744

  8. stephka says:

    I think she looks fantastic!

  9. Sus says:

Is the bag new? It looks a little out of place next to the bright red coat. And it’s sad that such a small little brown bag costs so much money.

  10. Hoopjumper says:

Didn’t she go to Smart Works in 2019?

    • Royalwatcher says:

Yes. Yes, she did. This very site had a post about it so not sure why they are now reporting it’s her first 2019 day of work…weird.

  11. mm11 says:

Apparently she told someone in the crowd that she’s 6 months pregnant due in April/early May. I may be back on the twins train 😂 or her baby is big 🤔

    • OCE says:

Lol, If she is 6 months pregnant now how could she be due in April or May? #Math

      • Beth says:

Because it’s the middle of January, and in three months it’ll be the middle or end of April? 6+3=9 #math I’ve been hearing she’s due in late April ever since her pregnancy was announced

    • PrincessK says:

I think that the baby or babies will be born late March or early April.

  12. NotHeidisGirl says:

I very much prefer to wear black, navy and grey but I love this combination of red and purple!
That said, I think the bag should have had a different colour…maybe grey or cream?

  13. MattyLove says:

I think she looks super cute!

  14. OriginalLala says:

the shade of red isn’t my favorite on her, I love the shade of purple though!

  15. Anna says:

I just read she told well-wishers that she 6 months pregnant and due end of April/beginning of May.

  16. Beth says:

It’s nice to see her wearing something bright, and the red or purple each look good on her, but those colors together are a complete clash. Maybe she could’ve worn the purple dress with one of her many, many neutral colored coats

  17. Flying fish says:

I am hot and cold about the color combo.
Different color shoe and bag would have worked here. The bag is for a more formal event.
    She is learning!

  18. Kittycat says:

Omg. I do love the outfit.

But I would agree it looks like over correction since Meghan has been wearing such dark colors.

Love that the coats and accessories are the expensive pieces.

  19. aquarius64 says:

I like the crowd turnout. It shows the tabloid smear campaign didn’t work and the Markle Monsters in law hit pieces didn’t gain traction. I guess when one half sibling is on Scotland Yard’s fixated persons list and the other was recently arrested for a substance abuse related charge – again – the credibility goes down further. Ditto for Evil Papa Smurf for letting it “slip” that pot was allegedly a party favor at Meghan’s first wedding reception and doing a follow up interview where he threatens to get louder if the Sussexes don’t call him. They’ll keep trying but it’s to the point that Meghan is Teflon now.

Not sure about purple and red together but bold colors are a surprise. Looking forward to the other meet and greets.

    • Reilly Dog Lover says:

There are lots of school kids in that crowd – they don’t have a choice. And to determine popularity by crowd size would mean Trump is very popular, cause he regularly get 10,000 idiots at his rallies. It’s a self-selecting group. Only those who near cult worship would go stand in the cold to see royals or Trump. Those who are indifferent or don’t like them stay home.

      • jan90067 says:

Dump’s people also advertise on Craig’s list and pay people $50 a pop to stand in his rallies with signs. So yeah… not buying that they’re all there for his bloviating. There was a guy behind him, once, that was giving a “WTF???” look while he was talking; they replaced him!!

      • Famika says:

I have a friend who went. The crowd was huge.
She said Meghan looked beautiful and she and Harry were so warm and happy.

    • PrincessK says:

The crowd was ten deep in some places and they were not schoolchildren, most of the kids I saw were with their mothers.

    • Olive says:

@AQUARIUS64 that story was ridiculous. pot at a beach wedding party in jamaica for two hollywood types? that is… not shocking at all. anyone scandalized by that is stuck in the past. i bet daddy markle was perfectly happy to partake at the time.

      • Bella DuPont says:

        @ Olive

The pot party favour makes the wedding sound even more fun for me, frankly. 😬🧚‍♀️🧜🏽‍♀️

    • Amelie says:

Only here to comment that I did not realize we had given the nickname to Thomas Markle Sr. Evil Papa Smurf! It is very apppropriate!

  20. Rojas says:

Red and purple are the color of the charity logo. It’s cute I like it.

    • Royalwatcher says:

I love that color combo!! I think the purple and red look amazing together and with her skin tone. And I also saw that it matches the colors of the Tomorrow’s Women charity. A nice shoutout without being too cosplayish.

    • PrincessK says:

Red is also the colour of Liverpool, the capital of the surrounding area.

  21. Melissa says:

Red and purple is one of the most stylist combo of this winter.
    She’s glowing.

  22. Maum says:

Love the dress but that coat is hideous!
That London bus red doesn’t suit her and the slouchy oversized collar and belt above the bump look really clunky.

She needs streamlined maternity coats but seem to want to stick to the bathrobe/trench-like coats that she favoured pre-pregnancy.
    Not a good look.

  23. Enn says:

The shoes and bag push it into “too busy” territory for me. I think a black bag and shoes would have given more cohesion. It’s sweet that those are the charity’s colors!

  24. Maxie says:

I think the royals will “recycle” A LOT of outfits this year. The UK’s social and political climate seem to be quite tense, a lot of people’s finances are quite fragile at the moment and isn’t a good look to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on new outfits. Kate may even bring back her 2011 Zara outfits if she’s keen to score cheap PR points.

BTW, did anyone saw that crazy story about ISIS plotting to poison Kate’s food directly at the grocery store she shops at? It should scare the daylights out of any royal, really.

    • Lady D says:

What about the locals that use it all the time being scared? It would make a person want to find another grocery store.

    • Eliza says:

She bought this coat new in red. She already owns it in beige, navy and olive. She owns the bag and shoes in different colors as well. She’s also wearing $4k in new clothing today. I don’t think she cares about dressing like she cares the British economy struggles unless she’s out of touch and thinks $4k is low, which I doubt.

I agree she needs to build a wardrobe but so many different shades of wool bathrobe tied coats seems in direct conflict with building versatility and long term use. But she’s got to wear it not me.

    • guest says:

Kate is definitely recycling, but I don’t think Meghan will. I just don’t think she cares about the optics and spending.

    • guest says:

Yeah, I saw. I’m glad they’re taking the threats seriously. Someone was already jailed for George’s plot. Security is something I don’t mind paying for, but it’s the other expenses which seem quite frivolous; helicopter rides, their outfits, etc.

  25. LizB says:

Love love, from her head to her toes. And the coats that close with a belt are much easier to wear during pregnancy (and I think look better, too).

  26. SV says:

Meghan is wearing the colors of the women’s charity they are visiting today. A visual way of showing solidarity. Very similar to how she wore the school colors of the school they visited in Sydney.

  27. Peg says:

The Net is full of crazy people, they’re saying Meghan is not pregnant, a surrogate is having her baby, and she is wearing a space bump.
Why is her tummy square? Why is it small one day and big the next time you see her? She is pulling a Beyoncé.
Samantha told a hate group on Twitter that Meghan can’t get pregnant, she is scrubbing her Twitter account with all the hate groups against Meghan that she has been following the last two year, no wonder she is on the Fixation list.

  28. Rosie says:

I just don’t think belted coats suit her as she has a short body and they end up looking chunky. Too much going on. I know you’ll all disagree but I think as it’s freezing cold here it would have looked better with tights. I’m not so fussed when it’s hot but when it’s icy cold carrying gloves and going bare legged (Smartworks) looks odd, and it doesn’t look professional. I don’t think it’s a maternity issue, I think it’s an American style thing.

    • Peg says:

Funny in America it all about choice, individuality, today in NYC on the Subway it was pant less day, oh my eyes.
Some pregnant women get very hot.

      • Rosie says:

Ooh Peg, not nice in the morning!! People wear all sorts here too but professional women tend to tights as it makes them look more put together. With our weather, grey legs and bad fake tan are not attractive!! As H&M are both representing the Queen they should follow her style rules – within reason. In years to come the dress code will probably relax a little. I get what you’re saying about the pregnant heat factor and next to Harry, Meghan usually looks 100% more polished.

  29. TheOriginalMia says:

She looks lovely. I like the combo of red and purple. Nice homage to the charity.

I’m firmly on the twins train. She told a young woman in the crowd that guesses of the baby’s sex were running 50/50, but I’m leaning towards girl from the look on her face.

ETA: They don’t know the sex. They want to be surprised.

  30. Guest says:

Hahaha. Touch your belly meghan and your man!!! Let the haters seethe. 😂😂

    • Royalwatcher says:

      +1 haha!!

    • LizB says:

      +2 🙂

    • PrincessK says:

      Yes.

    • Olive says:

the amount of people so bothered by a pregnant woman touching her own belly is ridiculous. the gesture barely registers when I see photos of her and then you get to the comments. not feeling so kindly towards people telling this woman what she should do with her body when pregnant just because THEY don’t look like looking at it. chill out and instead of assuming she must be doing it for attention, maybe just assume she knows her body best and is, i don’t know, settling the baby or something? i cannot imagine complaining about this, even if it was a celebrity i didn’t like, it’s just rude.

    • Famika says:

Lol I loved how she and Harry touch each other sweetly and she was touching her belly.
      The Haters having meltdowns lol

    • JanetDR says:

      Yes, yes, yes!

  31. Nev says:

    Gorgeous.

  32. Kelly says:

    It’s “Sentaler” not “Senaler”

  33. Mabs A'Mabbin says:

I know there are plenty of belly-cupping haters here, and I’m not one of them lol. But, come on. I believe I shook hands and interacted with people without that need!

  34. aaa says:

This is not Meghans’ first day of work in 2019, she did an engagement last week. Of the KP crew, thus far, William and Meghan have done public engagements in 2019. Today is Harry’s first public engagement and Catherine has yet to do a public engagement in 2019, but I think that all of them “received” one of the of higher ups of their joint foundation.

  35. Kim says:

The red / purple colour combination is a little too Red Hat Society for me, but I love Meghan and everything she wears so I’ll just go with it…

  36. MoaningMama says:

I actually *love* this look on her. Minus the shoes, which I’m not fawning over, but the colour clashing I adore and think she pulls off. The belt does look odd when the coat is fastened, but I think that’s just a maternity coat thing with where she is in her pregnancy – I found coats would look so bizarre at this stage as they still look roomy as you will still hugely bump further out, but you’re still too large to wear a regular coat. Either way, I like it a lot, and am enjoying her embracing a more figure hugging pregnancy style.

  37. Bobbalou says:

Think she looks totally gorgeous in the red coat. She clearly wants to show her bump and cradle it publicly, but I prefer when her coats are closed for a more finished look, especially if the dress underneath isn’t super well fitted. Great to see her in very bright or jewel tones that look stunning with her complexion. She looks pretty, fresh, and energized.

  38. Louise says:

Well. Poor Megs she just can’t seem to ever step out looking totally pulled together. I just haven’t figured out why. She needs the people who dressed her on suits with her. No words for this outfit. Just imagining it on Kate and what the comments would be. I have never seen a woman spend so much on clothes and look so bad I am beginning to think there something wrong with her Abdomen like pain or something. That is why she holds it so much. There’s nothing wrong with her holding her belly but I have never in my life seen anyone touch her belly that much

    • Emily says:

I was wondering if she holds her bump for the cameras? I honestly kind of ignored it before but in all the pictures I’ve seen she is constantly holding her bump, even as she is shaking other people’s hands which is kind of awkward. That or she must have a super active baby doing cartwheels! I’m assuming it’s instinct to touch your belly when the baby is moving?

      • Polly says:

I’m guessing the baby moves a lot or it might be a protective instinct when she’s out in crowds. Or she might be trolling.

I’m one who wanted to see her in more colour but I’m not liking the red elements of this outfit. The dress is good.

  39. Rita says:

Love the colour combo of the coat and dress; hate the shoes and the bag doesn’t match. But for pete’s sake, although she looks lovely, she needs to stop spending so much GD money (this outfit is another 4 grand). Don’t these Royals know the UK is on the brink of economic disaster. She could have got the same combo on the high street for a third of the price and also supported British (not Canadian) brands. (Oh, and the coat is Sentaler, not Senaler)

    • guest says:

I think that is why Kate is repeating a lot of her outfits since last autumn. I guess her press team does keep up because the costs for her new pieces are also low.

  40. Lexa says:

Oops, missed this thread and posted about her outfit in the other one about the due date.

I think I’m just not loving this shade of red on her but it’s nice to see her shake things up. I wish she would have taken the coat off inside because I like the dress more than the coat!

  41. Other Renee says:

I love the coat and dress colors individually but not together. The coat top falls in a funny way when it’s closed, too big. Appreciate that she’s trying different colors and that she tried to match the logo of the charity.

All that being said, the amount of money she continues to spend on these tiny purses is tone deaf.

With all the hate, I wonder if she’s belly cupping out of fear for the baby’s safety. Maybe she’s afraid of some lunatic.

  42. Royalwatcher says:

More evidence (for me) that the Meghan-bashing is coming from INSIDE THE HOUSE (i.e. KP and the Cambridges) because they have now finished an entire day of multiple engagements and not.one.single tweet about it on the KP twitter account. Can the Sussexes please separate from KP?! Not only is this incredibly rude to the Sussexes out there working, but also to the charities that they are there to highlight and promote!! WTF, KP?! You suck. How many well-timed tweets did we get when William was working last week? Shall we guess how quickly Kate’s engagement will be tweeted about tomorrow (or is it Wednesday?)? This is just so transparent and annoying to me. Clearly, lol.

    • Olenna says:

ITA, so transparent. KP has just now posted a couple of pics from the event.

    • Famika says:

KP press office was horrible today. Especially considering Buckingham Palace tweeted about the Sussexes early in day with a photo of them at the events first and told people on Twitter To go to Kensington Royal for the coverage YET…5 hours later KP still had not tweeted one single thing about the outing or the charities or photos of even the public or kids at the charities (for 5 hours while Harry and Meghan worked, KP did NOT Inform or tweet one thing about it.) People were complaining and complaining , one International Reporter went off on KP on Twitter , asking where the official coverage was, because he/she wanted to write a story about it and a deadline was looming to get it in.

People were complaining to Buck Palace and Clarence H. about KP behavior today.

When KP finally tweeted, many on the Royal Twitter verse said Don’t bother! We GOT THIS,
The public in attendance and Royal reporters there had more than done the job tweeting photos, video and describing the day’s events.

    • Flying fish says:

No wonder Harry was crabby at Christmas!

  43. Shan says:

I’m actually fine with the colours, but I tried on that dress a couple months ago and it is not remotely a maternity one. Even with the coat on, you can tell it doesn’t fit properly by the way it lays around the bust.

  44. Gee says:

Regardless of all the varied attempts at media bashing I think she’s really a credit to what she represents (an African-American accomplished woman) and what she has become (an accomplished member of the British RF). She turns up, does her job with enthusiasm as is expected with grace and ease. I could never be half so poised. There may be internal bumps in the road but I am sure every entry into the RF has experianced that and M appears at least to sail above it. I don’t think she has ‘backed away’ from what she stood for before (in terms of UN/women’s rights’). She may have to tone down the publicity but that is certainly more of a protocol requirement as opposed a personal view. Equally I do think the intense rivalry/argument between the RF in the press is merely a press tool and I think this site’s willingness to blame it on the Cambridges’/PC is possibly misplaced. Despite the argument of the RF being a tax burden I do wish them all the best and especially M&H in respect of their new arrival.

  45. KP says:

Very similar to a color-combo Diana wore. I think it’s great.
    file:///C:/Users/mikel/Pictures/hbz-princess-diana-style-1988-52102558-1500486369.jpg

  46. kristen says:

I actually *love* this color combination

  47. Belle says:

I’m happy to see Meghan wearing brights colors, and I like the red and purple combo. She’s still in desperate need of a good stylist though. The optics would be much better if she wore more British brands and curtailed her spending, especially with Brexit looming.

As for the near-constant belly-cradling, I am curious as to the “why” of it. It doesn’t bother me, its just very extra. Guess it will remain a mystery unless she says something about it. And yes, I know its her body and she can do what she wants, and no, in my experience its not “natural” to do this all the time, either publicly or privately 🙂

Oftentimes, it helps to calm the baby when it’s banging around in there. At the fashion awards, when she walked out on stage and the audience cheered, you can see an elbow or foot poke out in reaction to the loud noise. (I guess they must have splurged on the animatronic bump for that extra realism, hahahahaha.)

  48. Iris says:

Love the outfit. Tired of all the bump cradling but that seems to be her thing.

  49. Vi says:

I like she’s wearing colors, but I don’t really like that shade of red for her.
She loves to buy the same clothes, even the accessories, in different colors, doesn’t she?
Why does she need another expensive little brown bag that she already has in green?
It’s a waste of money. She’s being constantly criticized for her spending, why not repeating her last expensive camel coat that would have looked even better?

    • guest says:

Maybe she doesn’t care. It’s easy to spend when its not your money. Kate was the same, Meghan is following along, but her spending is higher.

Harry and Meghan did a great job today.
But Someone at KP press office seemed asleep, all day.
While Harry and Meghan worked, their press office did nothing to promote them.
People were complaining to both Buckingham Palace and Clarence ,About where are the KP official tweets on The Sussexes charity outings today.
Nothing came out of KP for 5hours..almost 6hours..

Yet Buckingham Palace tweeted early after the first outing announcing the day at the charities and forwarded readers to Kensington Palace Twitter to follow the day’s events , but KP didn’t tweet one thing , nothing until almost 6hours later, after people complained and complained.

    • Rosie says:

Novo virus and flu going round maybe they had staffing issues in the press office rather than it being deliberate or incompetence. . Or they could be useless 😆

      • Famika says:

The handling or non-handling of their PR by KP press office was ridiculous today and one of the reporters said this is the third time KP offices have done this.
Said there is no excuse for it in a professional office.

      • Anna says:

I have to say this isn’t the first time KP has let them down.

    • Digital Unicorn says:

This is not the first time this has happened – when its a DoLittle engagement the KP social media team are all over it all day.

      • Mae says:

I was woken up by a KP tweet about Kate’s event today…before it even started! They already had prepared tweets and info about her . And they were pretty fast with the tweets during her actual event too. I think a lot of ppl will be watching what happens tomorrow during Meghan’s engagement and will be comparing it to the coverage of Kate’s.

This is 80s as heck and I’m here for it.

  53. kellybean says:

I think the gorgeous is gorgeous- fit and color. The purple looks beautiful on Meghan but I can’t see the fit however the proportions seem spot on. I do like red and purple together, something about these particular hues are working for me. I definitely would change the heels for a blush tone nude. I also think I would like a purse in a cool neutral as opposed to the very warm toned sable.

I like that she is experimenting with some color while keeping to the same flattering silhouettes. Would love to see more pops of color. Love the hair, as always.

  54. greyate says:

Meghan looks amazing. Pooh on you all critiquing every little bit. She shines and has fashion courage. She CONSTANTLY is wearing different designers, matching up stuff that no one ever would. She is a true clothing artist. Good for her! Doing this in front of the oh so critical world. I can barely hang one of my art paintings without collapsing from panic.

Remember: if we are faulting the DM for their continual negative commenting, focusing on the the perhaps too too red shoes is only adding fuel to the fire. I don’t think t his blog needs to be fluffy fluffy, but if you are going to nitpick, pluck a positive comment out of the mess as well and combat the Daily Fail.

Meghan Markle has STUNNED the tunnel visioned voracious British press. Let them stew in their own negativity while we stand amazed. Maybe she has not and will never provide world peace, but this homespun movie actor has arrived on the world stage in style. Bravo!!

    • guest says:

Err, this site is a Gossip site called Celebitchy. Royal outfits are always criticised. Meghan isn’t some defenseless women thats need guarding if someone says he/she doesn’t like her shoes lmao.

  55. Themummy says:

I was a belly cradling pregnant lady. For me it was because I’m barely 5’3” and very short waisted and it literally felt like my belly needed supporting because it was just SO big, heavy, and out there. I was also very, very slim before I got pregnant…maybe 105 lbs soaking wet. My son was born 5 weeks early and he was still almost 8 pounds (I’m a type 1 diabetic and babies of diabetic moms tend to be big). For her, I think it is much the same (minus the diabetes), plus it may also be a nervous reaction and I’m sure she’s not entirely unconcerned about safety and security while out and about, especially given her crazy family and the hateful nuts out there with all of their constant vitriol against her. People need to mind their business with that. It’s her body. I honestly feel like people don’t even get to be annoyed by it. To be annoyed by it seems weird to me. Personally, I hope she cradles her belly in every last photo until she delivers just to drive the people crazy who think they have a right to an opinion or some say in what she does with her body.

  56. JaneDoesWork says:

Ugh that dress is so lovely, but I’ve always found the bright red and royal purple color combination to be super cheap looking. Something about the two together just seems costumey. i was in a wedding once where the colors were these exact colors and I still hate them.

    • Flying fish says:

I think you’ve hit the nail on the head Janedoeswork, the color combo does look costumey. And, that’s what throwing me off. The colors of the dress, the coat, shoes and bag are nice but they don’t compliment each other!

  57. blunt talker says:

I am sticking to my prediction of that baby being born in late March or early April. The month of March keeps tugging at me and I don’t know why.

Coat-wise, it’s open with the belt knotted in the back when she first gets out of the car but then eventually she decides to close it up.

  59. Dina says:

Seems like a nice day and events. Loved the crowd and loved Harry today, charming as usual.

Loved the 80s throwback chic colors. Esp the coat. Coat was hot! And her skin tone was right for that color combo. Warm, like she’s tanned.

She owned that purse and coat from before. She owns two already she’s worn, no way she recently bought a third, coats on back order til March – plus when you buy multiples, typically it’s done all at once. She’s owned this since 2017, calm your tits ladies.
Cupping issues is old boring news. Her belly, her baby – if I read 1/2 the trash on the internet about me, I’d protect my belly as well. I wasn’t a big cupper when I was pregnant until 6mos, it always felt like the baby was leaning on my abdomen and I had to pee, so I’d lift my belly slightly plus cupping is all about protection – mama bear. The fact that so many women attack this issue shows the state of women today.

    • guest says:

No, she has worn the other neutral coloured Sentaler coats before. This is from the new collection, it’s a new addition to their line. She can’t have bought it in 2017. She also has the same Gabriela Hearst bag in green. All easy things to look up instead of assuming.

  60. liriel says:

    Hey, she’s sporting a tan.
    Holidays?
I thought she’d look stunning in red but it’s not her colour which is surprising. I remember being this surprised about Kate looking amazing in red (the trooping). So what do I know.
Red and violet – not my thing. I’m glad she experimented but too much going on. Btw, she owns this coat in different colours, not exactly thrifty but she doesn’t care at all..
I don’t take stance on the belly cupping usually but she shook hands and did it so overall it seemed so so extra! Like, tone it down when meeting people because I’d feel awkward.
    Nice to see her though!

    • 90'sgirl says:

      That’s her beautiful skin tone’

      • guest says:

No, she is naturally lighter skinned. All you have to do is look back at her past photos to see that. She does over bronze/highlight a bit but she has toned that down.

  61. Birds eye view says:

I love these colours on her…and shame on KP for not reporting on what was a very successful day ….it’s not like they’re too busy covering William and Kate’s one day of work this week….

  62. pato says:

I love her outfit, I hate she´s cupping her belly all the time.
