Trump adviser Roger Stone was arrested after being indicted by Bob Mueller

Conservative lobbyist and consultant Roger Stone talks to press at Trump Tower

I’ve never paid much attention to Roger Stone in my weekly game of Trump Indictment Bingo. It’s not that I thought Stone was unimportant. He’s actually VERY important, and he connects a lot of dots, especially between Wikileaks, the hacking of the Clinton campaign and the Democratic Party, the side deals with Julian Assange and Russian operatives and more. No, I didn’t pay much attention to Roger Stone because it was quite clear that he was always going down. He couldn’t open his mouth without incriminating himself ten different ways, and he opened his mouth and spilled his guts regularly, on cable talk shows and emails and phone calls. Indicting Roger Stone was the “low hanging fruit” of Robert Mueller’s investigation. It was always a matter of “when” not “if.” So… the “when” is today, this morning, in Florida.

Roger J. Stone Jr., a longtime informal adviser to President Trump, was arrested by the FBI on Friday after being indicted in the investigation by special counsel Robert S. Mueller III. Stone was charged with seven counts, including one count of obstruction of an official proceeding, five counts of false statements, and one count of witness tampering, according to Mueller’s office.

Stone, who has been under scrutiny for months by Mueller, has acknowledged exchanging messages during the 2016 campaign with Guccifer 2.0, a Twitter persona that U.S. intelligence officials say was a front operated by Russian military officers who conspired to hack Democratic emails. Stone, who served briefly as an adviser to Donald Trump’s presidential campaign in 2015 and then continued to informally advise him, publicly cheered on WikiLeaks as it released emails hacked from Democrats during the race and before the election claimed he was in contact with the group’s founder, Julian Assange, whom he called “my hero.”

The special counsel’s office said Stone will make an initial appearance later Friday at the federal courthouse in Fort Lauderdale. Stone did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

[From The Washington Post]

The FBI raided Stone’s Florida home at 6 am this morning by pounding on his door and identifying themselves as FBI. They took him into custody there. The charges are in connection (as WaPo says) with Stone acting as the go-between for the Trump campaign and Russian operatives who were hacking the Clinton campaign and the Democratic party, and then Stone was heavily involved with the hacked emails being published on Wikileaks. God, I needed this news today. The past few weeks have been weirdly brutal.

And another domino falls, inching closer to 45 himself. Good.

On a superficial note: how is it that every single one of his advisors and staff members look like perfectly-casted villains? Like I could see this guy as the bad guy in the next Die Hard.

    • delphi says:

Stone worked for Nixon…his evil street-cred has been well established.

It’s true. We all needed this today.

      • Lizzie says:

he didn’t just work for nixon – he has a giant tattoo of nixon’s FACE!!!

      • Bryn says:

OH my god, I had to google it but it’s true. He has a tattoo of nixons face between his shoulder blades, in the picture I saw, He’s showing it to Alex Jones. My god the world is a strange strange place

      • Kitten says:

It’s funny how Trump-supporters are like “Hey, you know, Roger Stone is a well-know political operative who’s been doing this for decades.” as if that’s some sort of mark of credibility or good character *snorts*.

No guys, being a shitty shitbag for the two worst presidents in American history doesn’t absolve him. Quite the opposite, I would say.

      • E-train says:

If you haven’t see Get Me Roger Stone on Netflix yet, it’s a must. And now it’s even sweeter!!

      • Olive says:

i finally watched “get me roger stone” on netflix this morning – WHEW. anyone who hasn’t seen it yet should watch it. he’s an evil and deeply strange dude. i saw him giving the nixon two handed peace sign salute outside of court already this morning – he is loving this press coverage.

      • holly hobby says:

He’s evil to the core. Someone on Twitter said Stone friended him on FB. One day this person wrote something about losing a child and how Joe Biden suffered so much (his son was dying of cancer at that time). Stone wrote back that they didn’t suffer enough. He wanted them to suffer more. Boy that was cold and this is what evil looks like.

      • BchyYogi says:

Always had an acute career loathing of this man, both he and manafort have been my personal marvel comic villains, Mueller agrees. Now onto the children of the con, they all give such cruel HS vibes. Next!

    • B n A fan says:

Sarah Sanders was just on CNN saying this has nothing to do with Don the Con. I immediately changed the channel. Tired of hearing the lies. Anyway, all I have to say is another one bites the dust, another one bites the dust.

Just waiting to see the FBI dragging Don the Con AWAY in handcuffs, ha ha ha. I know we have to wait for him to leave, but they can get him on 5th Ave shooting someone, lol.

      • Himmiefan says:

Funny how everyone around him was involved, yet he wasn’t. How does that work exactly, especially for a control-freak narcissist?

      • Jan90067 says:

Omg, wouldn’t a “Godfather” style raid have been glorious?? Simultaneously busting into Stone’s, Jr’s, Javanka’s, Miller’s, Pence’s, Nielson’s and Bannon’s homes with indictments for them all for their crimes!!! Sigh….THAT is my Friday Fantasy! Get them ALL in one fell swoop and BE DONE with them! THEN go for the Orange Turd!

      • Megan says:

Did she mention the FBI agents who arrested Stone aren’t getting paid?

      • Alexis says:

“Funny how everyone around him was involved, yet he wasn’t. How does that work exactly, especially for a control-freak narcissist?”

This is the buildup in taking Trump down. The more these guys spill to Mueller/The FBI, the sooner it will happen. Mueller is gathering up enough evidence so there is no way out for Trump.

      • Himmiefan says:

Alexis, from your mouth to God’s ears!

    • jan90067 says:

Gotta love it: He’s out with his lawyer right now, on CNN, and people in the background are chanting: “LOCK HIM UP! LOCK HIM UP!” really loudly! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! (Yes, I’m petty enough to be LOVING it!)

    • Steff says:

I never thought in my life I would react to someone being arrested like it is Christmas morning and I just opened an N64. It’s gonna be a great weekend!

  2. Digital Unicorn says:

Its begun plus the hair plugs are obvious!

    • Belle Epoch says:

I never really looked at his “hair” until now. Is it a very, very bad wig? He looks bald as an egg.

I also realized I had him mixed up with another ancient Trump defender, Jeffrey Lord.

      • Jerusha says:

My first thought-a really bad rug plopped on his head. They bond over their shitty hair and their rotten souls.

    • Kitten says:

Hilarious because if you watch the Roger Stone documentary, you can see how obsessed Stone is with “good hair”. He and Trump both have a thing for it and both have what appears to be two different species of dead rodents on their heads. The irony.

    • Snappyfish says:

He reminds me of an Adam West ‘Batman’ villain

  3. Tootsie McJingle says:

Who gets to play Roger Stone in the movie that will inevitably be made about all this? I’m thinking one of the Muppets.

  4. Lightpurple says:

    INDICTMENT FRIDAY! MUELLER IS COMING!

I had Stone as up next in our office pool. Next I have Carter Page and Julian Assange, who was referenced in the charges against Stone.

Cue cute kid pictures from Nagini for today, they might not even be her kids. Any random kid will do to distract and polish her image. And some more ravings about Nathan Phillips and New York’s new abortion law from Junior. Anything to distract.

    • Christin says:

Speaking of Page, did anyone else see the panel of witnesses on Ari M’s show earlier this week?

Page, Corsi, Nunberg and a fourth (very Stone-like) dunce we’re labeled on social media as the Four Stooges. I thought that was little harsh — to the actual Stooges.

    • H says:

I love that a bunch of lawyers have an indictment pool going. So says the daughter of a retired lawyer.

    • Lama Bean says:

On Monday or Tuesday of this week I said I would donate plasma for a #FelonyFriday. Yesterday someone in twitter said grand juries never meet on Thursdays and something big was coming. I’m giddy like a kid.

    • Megan says:

Bannon is the Trump campaign official, yet no one is talking about his indictment, which means he flipped a long time ago.

      • Bryn says:

Id believe that. Bannon seemed pissed when he got the shaft. I think it would be appropriate if he was the one giving meuller a lot of dirt. Hilarious

      • LaBlah says:

If Bannon got flipped then Javanka is definitely going down, he hates them with every gammony fibre of his being. Oddly he’s still ride or die for Trump himself though.

      • Kitten says:

Damn. That is a very good point, Megan.

    • Himmiefan says:

I think Assange is going to turn up dead one day.

  5. RBC says:

I wonder if Don Jr, Jared and Nagini are making plans to flee the country now? Would hate to be working in the White House today. You just know 45 will be in a awful mood . Eat another Big Mac or two

    • Jerusha says:

This calls for two buckets of KFC. With extra gravy.

    • Megan says:

I think they are endorsing the Venezuelan coup because they need some to go when they board the plane at midnight.

      • Bigcelebitchylatinafan says:

I have never commented on here, but I am a long time reader. I appreciate if we do not mix the truly murderous Maduro regime in Venezuela or Ortega’s dictatorship in Nicaragua (look him up) with things that the US government should not do. True democracies should condemn so called “presidents” who kill their citizens because they think they own them, which is the most generous description of Maduro right now. Trump’s corrupt team of inept dumdums does not change that Venezuela and Nicaragua are dictatorships rules by killers and Russian money

  6. PhillyGal says:

I’m disappointed that he wasn’t charged with conspiracy.

    • Megan says:

Can still be charged with more crimes. This indictment is to get him to talk. If he doesn’t talk, Mueller will file a superceding indictment with more charges.

      • jwoolman says:

They also may have needed to search his premises, in case he hasn’t been smart enough to get rid of the evidence. They arrested Manafort this way, combining it with a search warrant.

      • holly hobby says:

If you read the indictments (I didnt’ read the whole thing but saw bits on Twitter), he left an email trail! One had him threatening someone (not named) to lie to Congress or Stone will go after that person’s dog. Yeah I bet the FBI will find lots of things.

      • jwoolman says:

Holly- the witness with a dog sounds like Randy Credico. I wonder if that’s why he insisted on having his adorable little dog Bianca with him while he testified to the Grand Jury. He said she was a therapy dog but maybe he was worried that Stone would carry through the threat.

Threatening a little dog? Do we need any more evidence of pure evil?!? Stay safe, Bianca.

  7. Chrissy says:

I wonder if anyone has contributed to Stone’s GoFundMe account to help with his legal bills. He apparently set this up a while back to get the Deplorables to help pay for his legal defence. Seeing him arrested is giving me hope….

    • Kitten says:

My God these people just can’t stop grifting, can they? Since when is Roger Stone hurting for cash?

      • Christin says:

Cohen’s lawyer was recently pitching some “freedom” fund for his client. It was at the end of a TV interview last week.

Funny how these folks are don’t-you-envy-me-mega-rich until the stuff hits the fan. Then they beg the public to donate.

      • Va Va Kaboom says:

Cohen’s lawyer didn’t just pitch this fund. He spent ten minutes before hand talking about how important Cohen’s testimony is and how scared he is after Trump’s threats, but he’ll still do it. Then he mentions there’s a fund, handily title the “Cohen Truth Fund”, if you want to send a message to Trump that’s his actions aren’t ok. I hope the FBI are investing that a-hole for extortion.

      • Kitten says:

I mean, if they weren’t so pathetic, I’d laugh.

      • Christin says:

I heard the end of Lanny’s spiel, and could not remember it was truth instead of freedom. Truth is even a more ironic name for this shameless fundraising.

His client brought his entire family with him to his highly publicized sentencing, including his daughter hobbling on a crutch/arm brace. Then he needs money for their safety???

    • notasugarhere says:

On CNN today, Jeffery Toobin said Stone is selling autographed stones for $10. He’s writing a book about Stone and was just in his house two weeks ago. He showed off the rock on CNN.

  8. Lindy says:

He’s definitely not going to flip; I think he’ll go the Manafort route. But if Mueller arrested him then you know Mueller has him dead to rights.

My worry is that this will make our orange dictator freak out even more. If he could be said to have an actual friend, it would be Stone. When Drumpf freaks out, he often lashes out, with pretty terrible results. (See: our government shutdown, the direct result of the evil toddler getting upset with right wing crazy pundits calling him a candy-a$$ for not getting wall money in the budget).

    • Swack says:

I could see Trump pulling the national emergency card today to distract from all of this.

    • me46 says:

      I wouldn’t be surprised if he does…

    • BigGirl says:

Manafort is in court today trying to convince judge that his memory problems are just that. Mueller side have to give evidence supporting their claim. This should be very interesting. Manafort petitioned to wear a suit..

    • notasugarhere says:

He is pulling another immigration move behind all of this. Immigrants from certain countries are being returned to Mexico while their asylum applications are processed. Deportations begin today.

  9. Jumpingthesnark says:

I love the smell of indictments in the morning!!!!

  10. Beth says:

Awesome. “FBI! Open the door! ” Get out of bed and get dressed, Stone, you’re toast. Tick tock, Muellers on his way! How much more needs to happen before Trumpsters will admit something is wrong with these criminals?

    • IlsaLund says:

I’ll bet those working-while-not-getting-paid FBI agents were smiling when they arrested him.

    • Lightpurple says:

I’m sure they had search warrants too and every inch of that house is being examined methodically right now.

  11. smcollins says:

Good. Stone himself said a while back that he was expecting to be indicted. I wonder who he’s going throw under the bus to save himself? A little OT but I also wonder who’s behind the alleged intimidation and threats of Cohen and his family.

  12. Insomniac says:

GOOD. This guy has been a scumbag for decades; his reckoning is long overdue.

    • boredblond says:

So true! This makes me happy because he’s been shady for so long..and always just creeped me out. I only hope all these despicables start thinking about what’s going to happen to their sad old carcasses in jail and start rolling over on the moron-in-chief.

  13. Eric says:

Who needs Jerome Corsi, who obviously flipped on Stone, when you can get Stone who was in regular contact with Julian Assange, senior administration officials, and Emperor Zero himself?

7 counts equals 50 years. Stone is 66 years old and possibly looking at 10 years of prison even when he barfs up some goodies: obstruction, witness tampering, and five counts of false statements.

    💥💥💥🔪🔪🔪💥💥💥

    • Fluffy Princess says:

YESSSSS! 50 years and hopefully at least 10 years of prison?!!

Do you think that Stone has enough info on Emperor Zero to get a “Get out of Jail Card”? I still feel Stone is going to do some time no matter what he gives up.

    • notasugarhere says:

Trump can pardon him for all of it, as they’re Federal.

  14. PhillyGal says:

Evidently, the indictment discusses how Stone acted in accordance with a high level official. That’s a limited group of people, including Trump and his kids.

  15. Lightpurple says:

There’s video of the unpaid FBI agents swarming the house and pounding on the door. FBI is not messing around. It’s glorious.

    • Kitten says:

      What a lovely, beautiful sight.

    • Who ARE These People? says:

      Art.

Apparently a CNN videographer used his news sense to connect yesterday’s grand jury seating (unusual for a Thursday) to the possibility of Stone being indicted. Good for him!

      Also Stone is/was probably armed.

Anyway la la la la la…happy Friday to Junior, Jared and all the rest.

  16. Beth says:

Suckabee is going to be on CNN this morning. I wonder how she’ll ridiculously spin the story of this indictment

  17. Jerusha says:

The FBI went in under cover of darkness, wearing flak jackets! Not messin’ around! Footage online, google it! The movie is writing itself.

    • Lightpurple says:

This was not a friendly arrest done in suit and tie. This was one step below a full on SWAT. This is how they treat those suspected and accused of treason, espionage, crimes against the US.

      • Veronica says:

They’re treating this with remarkable professionalism, but you have to imagine the utter rage that’s boiling under the surface for some of these people. The FBI/CIA has always been the place where you’ll find people willing to do literally anything (and all the ethical implications thereof) to protect the American nation-state. Imagine how they must feel just THINKING about a president getting into office via treason.

      • Rapunzel says:

LP- “one step below a full on SWAT.” = They were also concerned about his guns in addition to being pissed at his treason, espionage, and crimes against the US. Plus, they were worried about his potential flight risk if they were knocking that early.

      • goofpuff says:

Plus not getting paid and having to moonlight as an uber driver after their long shift just to eat.

      • jwoolman says:

The FBI did a Michael Cohen on him. They also raided his other properties, apparently. At least I heard they were carrying out hard drives and such from his NYC place as well. Definitely they convinced a judge or judges that he was a risk for destroying evidence.

  18. BigGirl says:

Arressted by furloughed FBI workers. Karma or Irony?

  19. EJW says:

The next 6-12 months should be epic.

    • Eric says:

      EJW:
Hell, the next 6-12 HOURS may be epic!

Mr Bannon? Steve Bannon? Open the door!

      Jared? Junior? Hello?

      • notasugarhere says:

Didn’t we hear last year that Secret Service agents are preventing any subpoenas from being served on all extended Drumpf family members? No one can get through the taxpayer-funded security to serve subpoenas and warrants.

  20. Amy says:

Remember when Mueller felt the need to say that Buzzfeed had inaccuracies? Guess who really told Cohen to lie? Stone. Guess who told Stone to tell Cohen to lie?

    …How’s your morning going, Donnie?

  21. Kitten says:

Does anybody else wonder what Obama’s thinking right now?

    • Jerusha says:

He’s not gonna go on camera and do an AOC style dance, but I hope he’s feeling it,
But, being the class act he is, he’s probably feeling a sadness for how far we’ve devolved.

      • Kitten says:

I picture him stopping in the middle of his breakfast and peering over the top of a Chicago Tribune and calmly saying to Michelle “they got Stone”, then flashing his signature smile. LOL yes I’m a dork, but I really miss having a calm and collected POTUS.

      • Giddy says:

Kitten, I miss our “No-drama Obama” so much.

      • Esmom says:

Ha, Kitten, I love it. I’d tweak your fantasy to switch the paper from the Tribune to the Sun-Times, our less conservative paper, but otherwise the picture you painted is perfection. I’m sure he reads both, though. And the Trib is no fan of Trump either, lol.

      • Kitten says:

Very point, Esmom. Switch it out for the Trib and I’m guessing Obama is eating waffles with scrambled eggs on the side. Michelle has fruit and yogurt parfait. And hash browns…can’t forget the hash browns.

    • B n A fan says:

I’m wondering what Hillary is thinking right now. I bet she and Barack is saying, I told you so, this Conman is in the mafia.

      • Who ARE These People? says:

Her social media game is always on point. There’ll be something apt at some point. Obama – he’ll wait.

      • Veronica says:

There’s probably some smugness there, but honestly, I imagine it breaks her heart over and over again in small and inconvenient ways. Because it does mine, and I didn’t dedicate several decades of my life to American politics.

      • OriginalLala says:

Hilary has a great social media game – I look forward to what she will post about this!

      • Olliesmom says:

Can you image the texts between Hillary and Barack?! Waiting for comment from Hillary on Twitter. No one throws shade like Hillary. On point and perfect without the use of too many words to get her point across. I’m sure that this all is breaking her heart. She warned us this would happen and not enough listened. She is now living a great life as a private citizen and awaiting the arrival of another grandchild, so she did end up winning. We are the losers.

    • Kitten says:

I bet Michelle and Barack have the best conversations.
Ah to be a fly on the wall….

Also, did you guys see that Stephen Curry arranged a meeting with Obama and the Warriors in DC in lieu of not receiving an invite to the White House?
      Love it 🙂

      • Erinn says:

gaddamn work of genius right there! 😀

      • Lightpurple says:

And the Red Sox won’t go to the White House during the shutdown, the players have been told they aren’t required to go, and manager Alex Cora is leaning towards NO. Meanwhile, Trump has yet to extend an invitation to the WNBA champions of 2017 or 2018.

      • Kitten says:

Oh I hadn’t heard that about the Sox, LP.
        That’s awesome.

      • lucy2 says:

I just saw that! Love it.

I’m sure personally Obama and Clinton feel like we do, a little bit of glee every time one of these forkers goes down, but as long time public servants who I believe want the best for the country, it has to be painful and horribly depressing.

  22. Rapunzel says:

Stone’s indictment is a sign that Mueller/winter is coming. This must explain all Trump’s GOT rip off posters from last month.

  23. Who ARE These People? says:

To borrow that line from Churchill, it may not be the beginning of the end, but it may be the end of the beginning.

Also I hate when reporters describe Stone as a “dirty trickster” because he’s always been a lying, cheating, racist, quasi-criminal political subversive who attacked democratic processes and now he’s going to be proven a lying, cheating, racist, criminal political subversive who attacked democratic processes.

He got away with being described as “colorful” instead of “crooked” because of his appearance.

    • Olive says:

the “dirty trickster” description is straight from roger stone’s mouth, which is all the more reason not to use it.

  24. Lisbon says:

    EXCELLENT!
What a great start to my Friday.
Trump the Dump should have been arrested
for TREASON the day he asked the Russians
to hack into Secretary of State – Hillary Clinton’s emails.
The Republicans are garbage people, they would rather sell out their country to the Russians than have a Clinton for a President.
Shame on them, I hope they all rot in jail including the manufactured “ beauty “ Ivanka “.

  25. Ann says:

Confession: I think Roger Stone is hilarious and if I was half in the bag at some bar and he started hitting on me I’d be down. I think his sense of humor and the ridiculous confidence is what does it for me. I’m not proud of this but I’m not ashamed either. That being said, he is guilty, evil, and should go to prison. If he does end up in prison I hope he gets studied because the amount of stuff he has accomplished and gotten away with over decades with 3 presidents (Nixon, Bush, Trump) is nothing to brush off as simply evil people doing their evil thing.

    • Kitten says:

Ewwwwwwwwwww. Even with that disgusting Nixon tattoo on is back? *shivers* Ew. Ew. Ew.

      • Ann says:

I know! It’s gross but he makes laugh lol I find him charismatic af. He is likely a psychopath though so I think that explains my thing. He knows how to work people, which is why I hope he gets a thorough psychological evaluation at some point. We need to understand why it is that he has done so much for so long without any repercussions.

      • OriginalLala says:

        Rich, connected, white, man.

That’s why he’s had no repercussions!

      • Mabs A'Mabbin says:

        Lmao @Kitten. ITA

      • Ann says:

@Original, it’s not that simple. I know that is likely the crux of it but Roger Stone is something unique. He is a pioneer of modern lobbing. He successfully meddled in the 2000 presidential election to get Bush elected. He’s done a lot of stuff that other rich white men would never dream of trying. He is bold, for better or for worse (worse for every decent human, obvs). We need to know how to combat it. He could be like the political Hannibal Lector if he flips, but I don’t think he will. Dems have to get a Clarice.

      • RBC says:

Wait what??!! He has a tattoo of Nixon on his back??!!
Please tell me that is just a urban legend 🤢🤢

    • AnotherDirtyMartini says:

Oh, but he’s rather ugly when you get a good look at him…very close-set eyes, that fricking hair…his demonic soul.. I’m sure we can find you another rich, old dude who is funny.

Ann, is your picker always this bad? Let us help you!

      • Ann says:

        My picker is awful.

      • Christin says:

Ann, you must like to live dangerously. He seems like a vengeful dude.

He is on TV swaggering away and I cannot unsee the Muppet/Sam the Eagle resemblance mentioned here today.

Wasn’t he outed for seeking swinging partners, with some crazy bragging ad?

      • Ann says:

I’m sorry to gross people out so thoroughly but I can’t help it. I like people who aren’t afraid to take calculated risks. It’s a strange hypothetical I’ve had since I saw Get me Roger Stone. I’ll never mention it again, promise lol

      • Veronica S. says:

This mistake is assuming it’s a risk. Calculated, yes, but risk? Nah. Rich white men who are well connected never actually lose. That’s why they flaunt it in the face of millions who lack the same resources.

      • Kitten says:

I’m glad Stone is going to prison. We need to put him away so Ann will never be tempted again.

  26. isabelle says:

Mueller’s team issuing the statement last week makes sense some n the light of this arrest. Also…the FBI agents wearing full armed gear should alarm Trump bootlickers. They didn’t use that gear when they arrested the others. They are now feeling like they are a true threat and are going in armed. Which isn’t common with the FBI.

  27. Louisa Wright says:

When my husband came downstairs this morning exclaiming “have you heard the news?” for the few seconds before he told me this I really thought it was Jr or Kushner. So Stone was a bit of a letdown. I really need a Trump or Kushner at this point.

  28. Jerusha says:

Pete Souza’s take on today’s news. He’s got a photo to cover every contingency.🤣🤣🤣

  29. Fluffy Princess says:

And just like that, I’m in a much better mood!

Honestly, the fact that they raided his place in full body armor? That is some sprinkles on my cupcake!

Trump is already freaking out on Twitter:

“Greatest Witch Hunt in the History of our Country!” “NO COLLUSION! Border Coyotes, Drug Dealers and Human Traffickers are treated better. Who alerted CNN to be there?”

    Hahahahaha!

    • jwoolman says:

Poor Donald. He hasn’t figured out that it’s not too hard to stake out the house of somebody you know is close to indictment. If paparazzi can do it, so can CNN.

Now Donald will start bleating to investigate CNN for colluding with the FBI.

      • Fluffy Princess says:

@jwoolman: I don’t know why that orange menace is worried about CNN — It’s all fake news. . .isn’t it?

Oh, it’s NOT? Well, well, well. . .imagine that. 😉

  30. Suz says:

The best tweet I saw on this comes from from Aida Chavez : “‘furloughed FBI agents volunteered to arrest roger stone’ is the funniest sentence in the english language”

  31. Themummy says:

So Stone has a big ol’ tattoo of Nixon’s face between his shoulder blades?!?!! Is this real life?? And then…he walks down the court steps and does the Nixon peace sign thing??

Why would he do that Nixon hand thing?? Wouldn’t overtly associating yourself with Nixon be…a bad idea?? Are they actually proud of being criminals?

    Someone talk me down.

    • Christin says:

He has all sorts of Nixon memorabilia. He is apparently obsessed with him, considering the back tattoo and today’s double peace sign stunt.

He’s like an extreme Tricky Dick groupie.

    • Swack says:

Saw that and almost lost it. And yes, I believe they are actually proud of being criminals because they think that they are untouchable and won’t be convicted.

    • Themummy says:

I’m actually reallly surprised more people aren’t talking about that Nixon peace sign stunt he pulled today.

      • Veronica S. says:

Eh, it’s on the front page of CNN because they love spectacle, and he provides plenty of it. WaPo and NYT seem to be biding their time to see the outcome.

  32. jwoolman says:

Hahahahahahaha -oops, I mean, how sad. Thoughts and prayers to him and his family. Thoughts and pr…. oh, I can’t do this. Hahahahahahahahahahahahah!

Don’t get hopes up too high, Trump will try to pardon him if unrestrained by Congress or the judiciary.

Meanwhile, this is the time to pull this out again for our viewing pleasure:

  33. Marjorie says:

This guy has been a dirty trickster all his life, since Nixon. He was in a lobbying firm with Lee Atwater and Paul Manafort in the 1970s! He was instrumental in bringing down NY Governor Elliot Spitzer in the 2000s. Here’s 2008 Jeremy Toobin New Yorker article that contains some fun information, including a one-off quote from Donald Trump. (I hope the link works, but you can get to it real fast via Google).

    https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2008/06/02/the-dirty-trickster

I was just driving around here in beautiful NJ listening to Curtis Sliwa on the radio – he’s the Guardian Angels founder – and he said that he knows Stone and believes nothing he says unless there is proof right in front of him. He also said that today is the happiest day of Stone’s life – he had the FBI at his front door, with a CNN camera crew, and he was getting all the attention. Famous!!!

  34. Jen says:

    His hair’s worse than Trump’s.

  35. EJW says:

This is what Stone had to say after his arrest

‘ I am one of his (President Trump) oldest friends, I am a fervent supporter of the President,” Mr Stone said after posting bail.

“There is no circumstance whatsoever under which I will bear false witness against the president, nor will I make up lies to ease the pressure on myself.’

“I will plead not guilty to these charges, I will beat them in court.’

“As I have always said, the only thing worse than being talked about, is not being talked about.”

He wouldn’t’ be so smug if he was facing jail time in a real prison as opposed to the holiday camps his type usually get sent to.

  36. Anna says:

Scrolling through the posts on this whole administration, it’s glaring how disgusting these people are. Their evil is just all over their faces, seeping through their pores, rot from within. So, so much evil and we find out more daily. I can barely look at the news. I really, really need to make a solid escape plan from U.S. because it is seriously only going to get worse from here, and it’s already horrific.

  37. missskitttin says:

Do you remember when Roger Stone and Pamela Anderson went to visit Julian Assange right before the elections?

  38. CairinaCat says:

Where is Hannity in all this, Cohen was his lawyer, he was tight with stone, tight with trump, with Julien…

    • jwoolman says:

Hannity is also tight with The Donald. Frequent phone calls (he’s one of the friends Trump talks with every night) , visits the White House. Trump definitely watches his show and appears on it via phone.

I even have wondered if Hannity conveys messages to and from Putin, but don’t know if Hannity is willing to do that. Hard to say, but citizen Trumpers have said that if the Russians helped Trump – good for them. Don’t know how common a feeling that is for the higher-up Trumpers like Hannity.
