Andy Cohen, 50, welcomed son Benjamin Allen Cohen via surrogacy

Andy Cohen announced just before Christmas that he was expecting his first child via surrogacy. Cohen has been in long-term relationships previously, but he is currently single and I think he decided to go through the entire surrogacy journey as a single man, and he believes he will be a single father for a while. On New Year’s Eve, he announced that he was expecting a boy, and it’s believed that he gender-selected the embryo. We knew his surrogate was due in February, and here we go: Andy Cohen, 50, is now the first-time father to a baby boy named Benjamin Allen.

I like the name Benjamin Allen, even though it feels like every third celebrity son is named Ben, Benjamin or Benji (right up there with Jack and Jackson). Andy has a connection to the name though – his maternal grandfather was named Ben Allen.

Last month, Andy had a huge baby shower featuring nearly every Real Housewife (and John Mayer), all with gifts for Andy and the baby. I hope… well, I know Andy has the means and the time to be a good father, and a hands-on father. I just hope that Benjamin Allen Cohen is taught that women are more than disposable hysterics and housewives.

I never would’ve pinned him to be longing to be a dad. But good for him! I just hope little Ben has some strong positive female role models in his life 🙂

    Mazel to Andy

Now I just hope he raises his sweet son not to hate and exploit women the way he does.

I echo the other posts. I’m really happy for Andy and I hope he raises a good man. One that is respectful and values women.

  4. Ali says:

That is a great photo. I wish them well.

  5. Elena says:

He has his favorites. It is gross how Bethenny bullies everyone and he always backs her up.

    Still, congrats to him!

I say congratulations. He can be an idiot, but I think it’s often scripted and for the camera’s. Judging by his excitement and the look on his face, I think his son is going to be just fine.

I don’t have much hope that his son will be raised to respect women.

His smile says it all. Congratulations Andy!
