Last night was the big LA premiere of Isn’t It Romantic, the Rebel Wilson film where she finds herself in the middle of a very twee romantic comedy full of all the standard and assinine romantic comedy tropes, only Rebel plays a normal, caustic, cynical woman. The film also stars Priyanka Chopra and Liam Hemsworth. Unfortunately, Liam was hospitalized a few days ago and he’s still recovering, so he’s missed some of the junket, and he had to miss the big premiere. Luckily for him, his wife Miley Cyrus stepped up in his place, and Miley actually turned out to be the biggest fashion moment from the premiere.
Miley wore this giant Valentino gown with big, dramatic ruffles and what looks like a mostly sheer bodice. I would expect this at the Oscars or the Met Gala – it feels like it’s way too big for someone’s premiere, especially since Miley isn’t the star of the film! I mean, she looks good and I appreciate the drama of it. But in general, I find this annoying. Miley also tweeted about how Liam is home sick.
It could have been Priyanka Chopra’s night! She tried to go big too, just not as big as Miley. Priyanka wore this absolutely terrible Vivienne Westwood gown – the problem here isn’t the design, it’s the fabric choices and colors. YIKES. And of course Nick Jonas was there too.
It should have been Rebel Wilson’s night, she’s the friggin’ star of the movie! But no, Miley and Priyanka had to do their things. Rebel looked great too, she wore this Paolo Sebastian gown which looks amazing on her.
Constance Wu looked great too!

Love Liam and Miley. Hope he recovers quickly. Nice of her to step in for him! That dress was over the top and feels more like a gala dress than for a premiere.

Miley looked pretty…and then I saw her hands. They look like what kids do to their hands with pens. Priyanka’s gown looks like curtain fabric. Overall, all the women looked very pretty. I have no concept of what’s ‘appropriate’ for which type of Hollywood event.
I so agree. My eyes went straight to her hands and all I could think was “4th grade girls gone wild with a pen”.

Rebel looks fantastic! Constance Wu looks Beautiful. Miley looks good but definitely not a premiere dress. Priyanka is so beautiful but hate the dress.
I actually love Priyanka’s dress. It’s gorgeous on her & the colors compliment her wonderfully. That said, ALL of these dresses are a bit OTT for a film premiere. Except Rebel’s attire. Rebel looks perfect. The color, the style. She wore it, not the other way around.
It’s the separate fabrics i don’t like. If it had been the top pink layer all over, but the bottom fabric i hate.

Priyanka’s team needed to ask about the backdrop at the premiere before choosing her dress.
The multi-colored, busy backdrop really only works with solid colors.
Rebel looked amazing, loved her dress. I hope Priyanka got paid good money to wear that mess. Not that it mattered though because Miley ate up all the oxygen in the room. She really pulled that dress of and made what could have been a mess on someone else look natural on her.
I love it! She is not even in the film and she outshines everyone including the lead of the film. May not be exactly in sync with the event and too much for a rom com premiere but she is the boos of the carpet. And I actually can appreciate her for that and like her on red carpet when she does not stick her tongue out.
Agree. I’m not usually a fan of the giant dress but Miley pulled it off like a boss.
wow ruffly organza is making a big comeback. That style was big in the 80s, that red Valentino is identical to my older sis’s senior prom dress, minus the cape and the sheer bodice…heavy satin like Priyanka’s skirt has been seen a lot lately too.

Somewhat, but honestly, they have a right to medical privacy. It’s not really anybody’s business why he’s in the hospital.
I’ve heard he just had kidney stones. Not sure on if that’s the case, but my sympathies to him if it’s true. One of the scariest moments in my life was the first time I had them – genuinely thought I was going to dieee. The next 3 times were equally as painful, but at least I could recognize what the pain was and not immediately think of the worst case scenario.

I don’t like the skirt of Priyanka’s dress, but the top is nice. Miley’s look is pretty and dramatic, which she rarely seems to go for at these events, so it’s a nice change. I like Constance Wu’s dress, minus the brown. Rebel Wilson ‘s look is the best overall here. It’s gorgeous and dramatic, not too much ruffle.
I liked everyone’s dress, except Priyanka’s. Miley’s was great, but it wasn’t her night. She should have saved that one for another gala, like the Oscar’s.

I really like Miley’s dress. sure, it’s OTT, but it’s gorgeous! So is Constance Wu’s. Gorgeous. The rest are meh. Has Priyanks been “refreshed” between receptions? Her hair is terrible, not just her dress. Which I’m totally enjoying.

The Valentino is one of the rare haute couture pieces I’ve seen that I’ve liked better photographed still than in motion. It gets a little overwhelming when she’s walking, but it layers beautifully when she’s standing.
Rebel looks amazing. She’s actually wearing something I’d want to wear, and she’s rocking it.

I liked Lainey’s take, that the dress was chosen to grab headlines and get attention. If Liam had been well, they would have used the newlywed first red carpet headlines and Miley likely would have chosen a different dress but the dress did the job instead. It got people reading the stories and maybe checking out the movie.
Love it on Miley. She owns that dress. I love how serene and blissful she looks.
Rebel Wilson looked beautiful. Mileys gown was over the top. The ruffle around the bottom killed it for me. Looks cheap boudoir. Constance Wu’s gown looks like someone spilled a banana split all down the front of her dress. Fug!
