There were SOOOO many people sharing the Momo thing with legit concern – without actually looking into it at all. It actually ended up getting way more attention by people trying to correct a problem that wasn’t really existing than it did before they started warning people. But the hysteria grew to insane levels without any actual proof that it was happening. And that’s a HUGE problem. In this case – yes, it’s better to be cautious. But it just goes to show how quick everyone is to jump onto some fear-mongering story and promote it like crazy.
But it’s similar to the tide pod challenge – it really was never THAT big of a thing, but if you looked at the news you’d think every other teenager was poisoning themselves by eating the pods. But even after it became a wide-spread thing because of the media ‘warning’ everyone about it for WEEKS and weeks… only something like 86 kids actually did it. You had stores locking them up – articles about banning tide pods for good – it was such a disproportionate reaction to the situation. And I mean – I’m going to bet that a good chunk of the people who ate the pods did so as a joke BECAUSE of the huge backlash around it.
Rob Gronkowski got a contract with Tide out of the Tide Pod thing after he did a video shouting: “Don’t eat Tide Pods!” So, there’s that.
Kanye’s slavery is a choice, after all. But don’t worry, Kris will work this out, no one in that family is allowed to make anyone else but her rich.

The momo thing has been going on since last summer. Even then it was more of an online urban legend type thing. While I get why parents are freaking out I also think some of the fear stems from the fact that most parents have nooooooo idea what their kids do online once they hand off their phone or tablet. The amount of times I have seen profiles and content from people wayyyy too young to be creating that type of stuff is insane. If your child has a finsta I guarantee they’ve seen worse than momo

Hmm. The relevant contract section with Kanye quoted at dlist is interesting. Sounds as though they want to be able to get out of the contract themselves if he goes so bonkers that he can’t work for an extended length of time. So it may not be that they want to chain him up because he’s so wonderful, but that they want to be able to easily rid themselves of him if necessary. Or is this normal for such contracts?
Here it is:
“You (Mr. West) hereby represent and warrant that to [EMI] that You will, throughout the Term as extended by this Modification, remain actively involved in writing, recording and producing Compositions and Major Label Albums, as Your principle occupation. At no time during the Term will you seek to retire as a songwriter, recording artist or producer or take any extended hiatus during which you are not actively pursuing Your musical career in the same basic manner as You have pursued such career to date. (The preceding representation shall not be deemed to prevent You from taking a vacation of limited duration.)”
Absolutely agree. Same as Bryan Singer will have on his next contract after ducking and running from the Bohemian Rhapsody set (this is BEFORE the mess) on some unknown drug bender.

I clicked on the link about Chris Martin’s bd party and it struck me about how the famous all know each other. Goop without her new husband, Sean Penn, Julia Roberts who doesn’t strike me as someone who goes to famous parties much so she must really like Chris and then …Melanie Griffith? That seemed totally off the wall but then I read she is his girlfriend’s mother. It’s like a Texas small town where everyone is inter-connected.
