As I’ve said several times now, it’s remarkable how Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman are dealing with their federal charges in completely different ways. Felicity seems genuinely anguished (as she should) and truly apologetic, even though Felicity’s crimes were a lot less than Lori’s crimes. Lori has approached her criminal charges in an almost Lindsay Lohan-esque way, getting pap’d around LA, smiling for cameras as she goes into court, signing autographs outside of the courthouse and more. Lori has also been leaking (through “sources”) some positive information in People Magazine. Like all of this is just a PR crisis and not a situation where she could end up in federal prison for two years or more. Sources tell People that Lori is getting through this situation through… yoga and faith. My lord.
As Lori Loughlin awaits her fate for her alleged involvement with the college admissions scandal, the actress is attempting to maintain some sense of normalcy.
A source close to the Full House star, 54, tells PEOPLE that Loughlin has been doing well, despite her recent indictment and arrest, and has been relying on the things she enjoys doing most to get her through the difficult time.
“While waiting for this to come to some conclusion, she’s trying to keep a somewhat regular schedule — going to yoga and pilates and seeing friends for lunch,” the source says. “She is very faith-based, and she knows her faith will get her through this.”
“She’s holding up well, given the circumstances,” the insider added. “She has a strong very strong faith that is helping her immensely. She loves her husband and her children very much.”
Not to make this about race, but this is partially about race. A moderately famous white woman committs a sh-tload of crimes and her reaction is to just put a smiley and churchy face on it, because of course there will be tons of ladies who are like “I do yoga and I go to church, I identify with Lori so much!” What would the reaction have been if Lori was someone other than Aunt Becky? My point is that I’m sure a lot of people (white women) will buy this angle. But surely many more people will see through it? It is a craven attempt to sell this churchy-Hallmark image. It’s gross.

Maybe she should have prayed her kids into school instead of breaking federal laws, then.
Next.
Glad she has faith. She’s gotta pray the jail stay away.
Did her “faith” tell her to steal bribe and Get a tax cut all at once?
@ Rapunzel : I hope she finds a nice church group inside the prison. They have church services and maybe bible study too. Seriously. I have a strong faith in God and go to church regularly. I read the bible a lot. But I STILL would have taken the plea for two years jail time. I could have met with my fellow inmate church ladies and done yoga-pilates in my cell. I would have been fine.
Jean Harris was a former private school headmistress who killed the Scarsdale Diet Dr. Herman Tarnover (her ex-lover). She was convicted of his murder and ran programs in jail to help inmates learn how to read. Martha Stewart helped the other inmates while she was in jail and taught them how to do ceramics. Let’s hope Lori Loughlin can learn (eventually) from their example.
When she asked ‘what would jesus do?’ Apparently the answer was ‘spend a half million dollars cheating your children into university.”
THIS. I do believe one of the commandments is: thou shalt not steal, and she certainly stole a spot from another student for her dumb kid. She’s ridiculous.
Can I get an Amen for this comment…
Thoughts and prayers, Lori.
Thoughts and prayers was my first thought too hahaha. May they do as much for you as they do for gun control…
Indeed, thoughts & prayers. This pisses me off so much. clearly her God is of the cheat because you are rich and the rules don’t apply to variety
All deities at once: We would very much like to be excluded from this narrative.
Bettyrose wins the internet today!!!!!
Best comment is best!
The fact that anyone would make this pronouncement about Loughlin is hilarious -as if god is OK with her cheating and lying because she “has faith” and “prays.” If she were such a holy ass Christian in the first place she wouldn’t have done any of this crap. Love it when “Christians” excuse all their terrible behaviour by saying the have faith and trust in Jesus. Loughlin is about as contrite about her crimes as Jerry Falwell Jr. is about giving $1M+ to some pool boy, and Tr**p is about caging babies, trying to gut healthcare and grabbing p***ies.
ahaha so good!
Yes, BettyRose. You do win the internet today. Rock on!
hahahaha…I love all these comments.
Applause
Bless her heart.
She may be under the mistaken impression that faith means that you don’t have to face consequences in this life. She would be wrong.
IDK, her fancy lawyers know how to manipulate a jury. I think she expects to be found not guilty, and I won’t be the least bit surprised if she is.
I’m so satisfied that this is the first comment. Well done.
Snort typical conservative bs to try and minimise their sins.
Yeah. So much of this. Probably won’t work… this time.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gXdv1zYFmtU
“faith based” in her case means “money based” and she thinks/thought her money would see her through
Sure. Because God endorses lying, cheating, bribery, fraud, etc etc etc.
Don’t forget vanity! Cuz the lord clearly wants you to give your kid a youtube channel to talk about their boring, vapid life and get a bunch of free stuff in return… Jesus was an influencer after all, no?
“Jesus was an influencer”
hahahahahahahahahaha!
bravo!
Yeah, as a major influencer, he needs a more up-to-date explanation about modern commandment translations. I realize how numbers might take a bit, but I think he should ease up on optics and inject some old school expectations from humans.
“Jesus the influencer”….Please make this a YouTube channel. White Jesus w big blue eyes & silky hair…endorsing sandals w his saucy sidekick Miss Mary M y’all…..pwhahahaha
argh the whole article makes my blood pressure shoot up.
Exactly! “I lied, cheated, and stole because I love the Lord!” Meanwhile, God’s like, “Leave me out of this.”
Well, quite. Doing this stuff whilst claiming to have faith makes a person look WORSE, not better.
You had a code of conduct given to you via a being you claim to believe is the actual, literal son of God and you chose to ignore it.
I cannot believe I am wasting time to comment on this story. Do you think she will do a Lifetime movie about serving time in jail?
I certainly think SHE thinks she will!
Yes, part of the jailhouse storyline will be the day Lori gets a tattoo on her ass. It will, of course, be a cross.
Too bad her faith didn’t stop her from lying and cheating.
Amen. Her conscience has apparently been on mute for quite some time.
Exactly.
I can’t stand it when people act terribly, and then try to hide behind “faith”. That’s not how it works!
Exactly! If she was truly living her alleged-Christian faith, wouldn’t she have known she shouldn’t lie, bribe, and fake her taxes all so her mediocre daughter could get into a school she didn’t want to go to? But you know these so-called Christians, she’s asked for forgiveness, so it’s all good now.
If she was that close to God, she wouldn’t have tried to buy her kids admission into university.
If only people saw religion and faith as more than a means of absolution for their immoral behaviors…
Jesus told her to pay those bribes!
I actually believe there are more woman than we can ever imagine who buy this bs. They relate to her wholesome image and are the same self-loathing women who voted for trump in droves. It always amazes me how dumb people actually are.
“It always amazes me how dumb people actually are.”
50% of EVERYTHING is below average!!! Just because some of them get away with it doesn’t make it untrue.
“Hey, I’m just a mom who would do anything for my kids too!” Yeah, I can definitely see this.
Stay at home mom, white women here. Not buying Aunt Becky’s crap. Lock her up.
Ahhh, I was wondering when the “I just love Jeebus so much” trope was going to get trotted out. When all else fails, throw out a line about your faith so everyone really understands how persecuted you are.
Not that anyone knows for sure, but I’m pretty sure this isn’t what God had in mind. I’m guessing toned down court appearances (no autographs and posing) with her walking in carrying a bible are in order.
I’m not even a particularly religious person, but it makes me angry when assh*les like use God as some frigging get out of jail free card. Where was all this faith and devotion when she and her husband were breaking the law to get their brats into USC?
It’s been a while since I’ve read the Bible, but I’m 100% sure there is no passage instructing you to commit federal bribery crimes to get your spoiled vapid brat into USC because that’s what God wants.
LOL!
Yeah. Just looked it up in mine
and can’t find THAT particular passage anywhere…
Maybe trump will pardon her.
At this point nothing would shock me.
“Felicity seems genuinely anguished (as she should) and truly apologetic”– Um just a reminder that she’s an actress and clearly has a stronger PR team.
Yeah, I don’t think Felicity really feels that sorry otherwise she wouldn’t have done what she did in the first place. She is sorry she got caught and is smart enough to realize that acting like nothing is wrong and going around taking pictures with people and signing autographs with a big ass smile on your face is not a good look. She minimized the damage for herself by accepting a few months in prison. Lori probably thinks her high profile lawyers will get her off and that’s why she refused a plea deal.
Yeah, I think Felicity is just smarter than Lori and Moss and just feels bad she got caught. Aunt Becky really should have taken that plea deal.
Exactly chillywilly! Smart enough to keep a low profile & hire some pr whiz to draft a mea culpa letter on her behalf.
She’s sorry she got caught. She was starting to do it AGAIN with their second kid, so clearly she didn’t feel too bad about what she first did.
Hey, at least she knows what her public image SHOULD be right now.
I agree Tealily, at least Felicity knows to “be stoic”, Lori comes across as just plain dumb not to know how to act her way through this.
Also the Feds rounded her @ss up at her house. Lori walked in station w/her lawyer and was booked. Their journey with the justice system already started on two different levels.
Huffman is eating the humble pie. She’s admitting wrong doing. Even if it seems forced, at the end of the day she is owning her responsibility and solidifying that choice in legal documents. Lori committed a much bigger crime (these crimes seem to be quantified on a $$ scale, and she paid $500k vs $12k), and she’s not owning it.
I think Lori’s response makes her look much worse than Felicity in comparison.
I love how these people find Jesus when their ass is in a sling. I wonder her faith was when she was deceiving officials and her children during this whole process??
Because this IS just a PR crisis for her. She doesn’t think she’s done anything wrong. And she’s so out of touch with reality, she can’t fathom that she might be held accountable for her actions.
And the sad fact is she probably won’t—I bet she gets off with a few hours of community service that she’ll pay someone else to do for her.
That is not going to happen unless there is a nondivine intervention in the form of a pardon.
My faith says lying is a sin, and I would be feeling a lot of guilt if I did what she did. I would think be looking for a way to genuinely repent. I’m not sure that’s what they mean though.
Oh, these people!
A spokesman for God said “We would like to be removed from this conversation and keep His name out of your mouth.”
This makes me want to quit yoga. (And I practice every day!)
yoga has nothing to do with this.
Gwyneth Paltrow invented yoga.
Who actually refers to a person as “faith based?” Lol. I know people I’d call religious or devout or spiritual or even bible-thumping…”faith-based” seems like a disingenuous way to paint her as religious, a shield to deflect from her criminality. No sincerity whatsoever.
Ha! That’s a good point. Charities are faith-based, people have faith.
Exactly. Programs are “faith-based,” not people. Funny how her faith is going to help her get through a situation of her own making.
Did she miss the whole “repent and sin no more” part?
So true. Gross and more gross. Faith based my arse.
“Faith Based” does sound like a total generic or watered down term.
I think they should add wearing that hideous pink dress to her list of crimes.
*snort*
Hahahahahahahaha! F*ck you, (Aunt) Becky.
For the Laurie so loved her daughters that she gave bribes and told lies, that her average daughters shall not suffer the humiliation of attending ASU (but rather attend SCU).
“For I have plans for these children,” declared the Laurie, “plans that they prosper in the college of MY choice. Plans that my daughters take the place of more worthy children!”
Verily I say unto you: the Laurie claims to know God but her actions deny her.
Brilliant!
Love!!!!!!! Hahahahahahah
Ha!
Bwahahahah…
Ah, a religious criminal
Oh yay. Fake Christians are my favorite.
Lucky you, Kitten! This is truly their time to shine. The Bible is Trump’s favorite book, you know.
LOL This truly made me laugh Trillion, thank you
Two Corinthians! He’s so biblically illiterate, I can’t believe Christians voted for him.
What faith is this she speaks of? Devil worship is the only thing that would make sense in this situation…
God will mop up this mess I made!
What faith is this that leads one to criminal acts?
Agreed. White folks can literally shoot shit up, burn shit down and say and do pretty much whatever they want. As long as they evoke Baby Jesus and their “faith,” their Hobby Lobby support group will back them 100 percent.
Prediction: She’ll bite the bullet and take a plea deal with a slightly higher sentence than Huffman, but she’ll serve maybe 4-6 months. After that, it’s interviews with Gayle and a book and a brand building campaign. It’s become so predictable that you can literally use a stopwatch.
Annnnd 3, 2, 1…
Interesting isn’t how suddenly people yak about their faith while they are lying and cheating. Hypocrite! I’ll never watch anything with her in it again. I admire Felicity Huffman for admitting her guilt. Do your time for the crime and move forward.
Hee—Hobby Lobby support group, 😈😎
I don’t usually comment, but this woman is beyond ridiculous and infuriating!!! Her “faith” should have prevented her from lying, cheating, committing fraud and bribery to get her already privileged daughters into university in the first place. I cannot fathom how anyone could feel even the tiniest amount of sympathy for her.
Who says it like that? “She’s faith-based.”
And I want to high five the person above (Sash) who said too bad her Christian faith didn’t keep her from bribing and cheating in the first place!!!!
Pretty sure she will come out of all this with a deal for her own line of yoga pants at Wal-Mart and people will snap them up.
She needs a new pr team. Faith based??!!
I don’t know anything about her faith. But she probably skipped learning about the 10
Commandments. You know…
“Don’t steal, don’t lie, don’t use God’s name in vain…”
Felicity played it smarter than Lori is doing. Felicity knew she had to cut her losses and at least pretend to be contrite. Lori refuses to accept that she is in deep. She thinks she can pay her way out of this and while I think she won’t get as harsh a sentence as a POC, she is in for a rude awakening.
Yep, Felicity got good advice and she took it. I bet LL also got good advice but she and her husband are arrogant and they ignored it. I would not be happy if I were their attorney.
Lori thinks her celebrity status as Aunt Becky will stop her getting convicted, I don’t think the IRS will agree. Even if she gets off on the federal charges, the IRS will want its pound of flesh. After all, she wrote off the bribe money denying the IRS their share.
She needs to zip it and stop with the pap walks/autography signing sessions – a good lawyer will use it to show she is not remorseful of her actions.
just wait for that jail cell door to clang shut… “My God, My God, why have you forsaken Me?”.
The cloak of fake Christianity has been working so well in the U.S. -especially of late- why shouldn’t she join in?
Faith. Family. Fraud. #Blessed
HA! someone paint this s*** on some fake barn board asap!
It was either that, or WWJB (Who Would Jesus Bribe)
I swear; if I didn’t know what she did, that People article would give me the impression she was the *victim* in this situation (and it wouldn’t surprise me to hear that she thinks she is). Like I’m supposed to be so relieved that her yoga and her paper-thin faith are “getting her through this.” At least Felicity Huffman has the sense–or good PR advice–to appear mortified and ashamed.
Exactly what I thought. Like, she has no agency, her fate is up to God, even though she put herself in this mess and has the ability to choose what next steps she takes!
Funny, my faith veers between the greatest strength and the greatest doubt, but I’ve never forgotten (or ignore) the fundamental tenets, not only of Judaism but of being a decent human being full stop:
1. Don’t lie.
2. Don’t cheat.
3. Don’t steal.
4. Don’t compromise your integrity. Ever.
5. Always, always own up, and apologise.
6. Work to be a better human being.
7. Live and lead by example.
8. Do not destroy others’ faith in humanity or hope.
It’s really not that hard.
It is kinda hard not to lie, isn’t it? the rest I really strive for, but I gave up trying not to lie. It takes too much energy to deal with people after you tell them the truth. They aren’t used to it and emo meltdowns are commonplace.
@Darla (wonderful username!) Not for me – no. I’m pathologically honest; and as an added bonus really don’t care what others think. As long as I don’t indulge in off-putting or offensive behaviour, then that is that; and if others choose to have a meltdown – well, that’s their problem. It certainly isn’t on you, and you don’t deserve (nor should be obliged to tolerate) toxicity in your life. If someone is an emotional burden without good cause (under ‘good cause’ I’d include mental illness, bereavement and similar) then I tend to disentangle myself from them as quickly as possible. It benefits no one to have to put up with temper tantrums, simply because they are unwilling to hear a truth.
Hey I’m a white woman and I think she’s full of s**t.
But maybe that’s because I’m Jewish. ; )
White former Methodist here and I think Aunt Becky was applying her lip gloss during the sermon if she thinks her actions are “Christian Based.” I stopped attending church after my group decided to be outright bigoted against the LGBTQ community. But I remember enough of the basics to know Jesus didn’t preach to feed the poor by bribing your way into college to support your vapid daughter’s UTube channel….
God is not your personal butler.
– Marge Simpson
LOL
Why are so many bible-people just like this?
They are for the most part hypocrites. “Do as a I say not as I do”.
Oh yes, please do pull out the religious card now, how hypocritical!
I’m a white woman and I think she’s a lying sack of sh*t & hope she rots in jail.
Also, does her faith encourage lying, cheating, fraud, entitlement, and money laundering are honorable?
Clearly she belongs to the Church of Trump.
What does “faith based” even mean? ALL religions frown upon cheating, lying, etc, so who cares if she’s leaning on her supposed faith. It hasn’t made her a good person. She’s a total hypocrite who used bribe money for a major tax break, all while claiming to be donating to charity. She and her husband are clearly morally corrupt and have raised two spoiled, entitled, vain daughters, who are also liars. The whole family was in on the scam. Her daughters knew they weren’t actually rowers, so why would they be accepted into USC based on their rowing skills? Felicity Huffman may have better PR, but at least she’s making the effort to show remorse and has pleaded guilty, while Lori’s off praying at Pilates class, refusing to accept responsibility for her criminal behaviour. I hope they throw the book at her.
These two women are a “what to do”/“what not to do” side-by-side comparison.
Lori really does seem to think this is her 15 minutes of fame, instead of a very serious, life-altering situation of her own making. I guess being somewhat insulated from real life (she was a child model/actress) may have contributed to that.
Seriously, you are right. It’s like she thinks any attention is good attention. I guess that her “faith” allows her that arrogance. How very Christian of her.
Goofus does pap strolls during his fraud indictment. Gallant hides in shame during his fraud indictment.
Also, Felicity seems to have a vastly better understanding of how you get the lightest sentence in the face of a federal prosecution with more or less iron-clad evidence. Lori is going to get the book thrown at her if she is convicted, which seems highly likely (and well-deserved).
Christin, that has to be it. She’s starring in her own little mental TVM as Good Mommy Martyr, so her thinking is not reality-based. After conviction, will she be gliding down the court stairs like a pilates Norma Desmond, or… 😈😎
I am curious why British folks call it “university”? Seriously.
@Jessica Actually started with the university of Bologna in the 11th century, followed by Oxford, Cambridge and the like, when Latin was the academic lingua franca; referring in literal translation to the concept of oneness/universality/truth as applied to a community.
They say university in most countries. It’s not just Britain. The US is the only countries where I’ve seen all higher education referred to as college.
College and University are different things in Canada as well. You can only obtain degrees from University, whereas College offers diploma programs only.
Yup. University is the 4-year degrees, college is more equivalent to a US community college with programs of 2-3 years. Though it’s changing – some Canadian colleges are starting to offer applied 4-year degree programs, and it’s sloooowly getting easier to transfer credits.
It’s only a university if it confers graduate degrees. It’s not that university is for 4yr degrees and college is for associate degrees. Rather, universities offer graduate programs and if it’s just a college then it only offers some form of undergrad degree–usually 4 yr but sometimes 2yr. That’s the case in the US as well, but most people here use the two terms interchangeably.
In New Zealand, college is high school!
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA….
What would Jesus do, amirite?
Ugh, she is such a terrible person. Pretty sure the Bible has something about not taking the Lord’s name in vain in it, which very much applies to the kind of situation where you flaunt your “faith” in an attempt to evade the consequences of your immoral actions. Not seeing any repentance here, let alone atonement.
Don’t even *bother* saying you’re faith-based when you have no problem at all with breaking the law! Ugh, the stench of hypocrisy is strong.
Hey, it’s kinda like when you see a movie and they say it’s loosely based on someone’s life. They loosely base their life on the bible when it’s convenient and throw the rest over their shoulder on the regular.
To me this reads that she is peddling to the Trump base and republican judges who am sure won’t send a good christian girl to the big bad prison with poor people.
God, I rolled my eyes so hard at this I think I saw my brain.
LOL!!!!
That was really funny, Kay.
Of course. Of COURSE she is a preachy Christian. Faith based my ass. Typical fake American rich bitch Christian who thinks they can do anything.
Oh, okay. Thoughts and prayers.
Jesus called Lori, he wants his faith back.
this PISSES me off so much and is why i have no use for organized religion. Did your God tell you to cheat, lie, steal from others? Or does He tell you its ok to loclk little kids in cages…Jesus wept i don’t think so.
I have met very few people who are religious that arent shitty people treating others poorly but claim to have faith. Just stop being horrible people M Kay?
I’ve been part of 2 different churches in which the people are truly humble, loving, welcoming to all, and committed to working for social justice. It’s very difficult to see the number of terrible people doing terrible things in Christ’s name, and maybe the saddest thing of all is how many people have been turned away from God by their actions.
I too have met a number of so-called Christian people whose so-called Christian values are at best selective and hypocritical. More like “all’s fair in love and war”. One woman I had a VERY bad experience with (who considers herself a Christian and goes to church every Sunday) had the nerve to post on FB that her favourite saying is “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”. I guess she wants people to be deceitful and disrespectful to her then.
But she’s fine because she’s accepted Jesus as her saviour. She can act like an asshat her whole life, treating others like garbage, cheating, lying, being cruel and will be just fine because Jesus died for her sins and she puts in a weekly appearance at church. All this while a selfless, honest, kindhearted, charitable etc, non Christian person is doomed to hell. Something seems off in that ideology.
Yes, her immoral, unethical, and illegal choices sure do not scream godliness to me. The irony is blatant.
God, I hate faux-Christians. And Loughlin thinks she’s in a Hallmark movie where she can smile jail away.
I can’t picture her in prison. Do people beieve she will serve any time? What sayeth y’all?
Throughout this, I have been p*ss*d at Lori and this is just adds fuel to that hatred. I had been a fan of hers since the 1980s (Secret Admirer, Rad); she was the beautiful yet attainable sweet girl-next-door. I feel betrayed knowing what she and how lightly she seems to be taking it. And now she’s relying on her public persona: the sweet G*dly, yoga practicing mom-next-door who just wanted to the best for her children and is now being persecuted (like Jesus!!!) for it. It just disgusts me.
What these people did are completely different obviously but people magazine has the same info coming out about aunt Becky as they did for Matt lauer, ‘heres an update on how they are holding up.’
Seriously? Why should we care about their well being? What about Lauer’s victims? What about the students not admitted to USC because aunt Beckys daughters took their slot without earning it?
God don’t like ugly, Becky.
You can’t pray jail away.
So will her MONEY.
This woman is disgusting. She discusses this as if she’s overcoming breast cancer, or something in which she is wrongfully accused, or a victim.
I don’t believe she believes she did anything wrong, and her confidence gives me a moment of pause.
Why is she so confident at a time where most would be at the very worst, scared, and at the very best contrite?
I am always dumbfounded by fath based persons who never admit wrongdoing, and are 100% certain that Jesus will get them through yet another rough patch.
Aunt Becky is exactly the kind of religious hypocrite that keeps me away from organized religion.
My mom and I were talking about this today and I said “I don’t know, but if I had to pick between God and the IRS winning this, let’s just say I’m not going to be welcome at church this Sunday.”
Don’t drag faith into this, your vile acts are all you
I don’t think she is going for any particular angle. She really believes God will take care of all her problems. Sometimes I wish I were that delusional. I would lose less sleep.
What if the jury is just as delusional as she is? If she gets away with this, I’m going to start believing in Aunt Becky’s god.
Faith would have been trusting the unseen path that was set for her and her family alike, not artificially manipulating that path with fraud.
