GoT Ep. 8.4 photos: Jon Snow survived the Long Night with only one boo-boo

SPOILERS for Game of Thrones

I’m still thinking about The Long Night, but honestly, I’m nowhere near as anxious now that it’s over. I get that there are three more episodes and more people are going to die, but I can’t help but think that the war with the Army of the Undead was the existential threat, and Cersei is merely the political threat. If I was Daenerys, I would just spend several months in Winterfell, hanging out and allowing people to grieve their dead and really build relationships with the Northern houses. If Cersei wants to fight, let her come North and fight. Of course that’s not what will happen. Of course, if I was Dany, I would also appoint Arya my assassin-in-chief or something like that. Give Arya a gaudy title and a horse and tell her she can go down to Kings Landing and f–k some sh-t up whenever she likes.

Anyway, HBO released some photos from Episode 8.4, which we don’t know the name of. Apparently, this episode will be about grieving the dead and setting up the final conflict between Stark-Targaryen (aligned) versus Lannister. As such, many of these photos seem to be of exterior scenes where they’re burning the dead, I think. The header photo is of the Starks looking upon the dead – I see the Hound aligned with his Stark ladies. And here’s Team Targaryen looking upon their dead – I would imagine lots of Dothraki, plus Jorah Mormont, some Unsullied.

Prominent members of Team Winterfell/Team Living burn their dead. Are they still worried about ice zombies??

Boats with the Targaryen sigil – I guess Dany and her crew are hightailing it to Kings Landing by boat? Or is this House Greyjoy, sailing under the Targaryen sigil?

gotboats

Dany and her dragon are looking at different things? She’s looking up – is she looking at the other dragon? Both Rhaegal and Drogon apparently survived, I guess?

danydragon

Jon Snow survived the Long Night and he only got a boo-boo on his cheek.

Cersei and Euron Greyjoy (more like Greyf-ckboi) hanging out in Kings Landing. I can’t wait for Euron to sell her out HARD.

Dany, Varys and Missandei look pensive but not anxious. Hmm…

For some reason I’d just sort of expected that the climax of the series would have all the characters together in one place, which obviously can’t happen.

We know about Cersei, but I’m wondering who’s staying behind in Winterfell and what the final conflict there will be.

    • Becks1 says:

Oh that’s a good point. I cant imagine Sansa going to KL to confront Cersei, unless its part of her story arc- Cersei was responsible for so much of her pain and suffering, and Sansa wants to be there for Cersei’s end?

      • IlsaLund says:

I read on a fan blog that Sophie/Sansa’s last scene was shot in Seville, Spain where they shot the dragon pit scenes. Not sure how reliable that info is though.

    • Kco says:

I’m wondering if Sansa will be the one to deliver the death blow to Cersei? Remember the little dagger that Arya gave Sansa before she went down into the crypt? The fact that it was never used, and we were reminded of it when she pulled it out while she and Tyrion hid, makes me think it will be used somehow. What’s the writing rule, dont show the gun unless it’s going to be fired at some point…that’s proper writing anyways… not sure that proper matters to D&D at this point, though.

      • Lilly (with the double_L) says:

I think she did use it and her and Tyrion did some fighting (not in the same sense as the warriors) in the crypt. Everyone usually reads much more expert than I am and as a very recent convert to the show, I always feel compelled to add that I’m probably wrong.

      • Alissa says:

Chekov’s Gun – which basically says that a gun shown in the first act will be fired in the third act. So it would make sense that since they’ve made a big point of showing the dagger, that the dagger would be used at some point.

    • fiona says:

a popular theory on reddit is that Bran is going to throw everyone off by revealing another threat (possibly related to the night king???) that he confirmed while he seemed to be needlessly warging during the battle. I hope it’s not true cause I would prefer them to focus on Cersei.
I also read that episode 4 – aftermath of the battle/preparation for Cersei, episode 5 – the battle with Cersei and episode 6 – tying up loose ends so I doubt there will be another twist, but who knows.

      • M.A.F. says:

I hope there aren’t any more twists. If we had a full season, sure I guess but we only have three more left.

  2. runcmc says:

I really, REALLY hope Euron f’s Cersei over too. Cersei has zero loyal true allies left (unless you count the Mountain). It’s all purchased supporters at this point basically. It will be so satisfying to see her die however they choose to do it.

Gotta say though having Cersei as the final boss is not that exciting. I also feel more meh than anticipation for the last 3 episodes.

    • Digital Unicorn says:

He will but I think she is expecting him to and has a plan to deal with him – maybe Cersei will surprise us all and be the last one standing.

      • Anitas says:

I have a strong feeling a woman will claim the throne in the end, and it might as well be Cersei.

      • Original T.C. says:

None of the villains will survive, it’s the HBO writers finishing the end of the series so you have to think of traditional troupes. The “good” winning over “evil”. No grey. Cersei will die and since prophecies are out who kills her is anyone’s guess. There will be many “twists” for twist sake that don’t make sense just to surprise the audience.

I finally realized all the “balls” jokes are because they don’t know how to write for non traditional characters so I’m pretty sure they will kill off: Varys, Tyrion, the Hound and either Jon or Daenerys. An ending with an incest couple is not something American tv writers are going to do but if there is an “innocent” child from Jon and Daenerys that’s ok.

Grey Worm and Missandei are too pretty to kill so they will survive. The North will stay independent and ruled by Queen Sansa on her own. Gendry will be legitimized as a Baratheon and marry Arya. Meera Reed and Bran will either get together or they will kill Bran (they really don’t care about the magical stuff). Sam and Gilly for house Tarly. Brienne as King/Queen’s guard. Jaime 50/50 chance of living, If they want to wipe out house Lannister then so long King Slayer!! I really don’t care anymore to be honest.

The good news for book readers is GRRM has said the TV series long deviated from where his books are going so he will still make bank $$$ when he publishes the next book. He’s had 8 additional years to work on it (them).

      • ReginaGeorge says:

        Original TC,

According to GRRM, book and show ending will be similar.

        https://www.slashfilm.com/game-of-thrones-ending-martin-differences/

Also I don’t see Sansa on the throne AT ALL.

Wardeness or even Queen of the North, definitely. She has come to appreciate her homeland and her people way too much to sit in KL

I’ve wondered if Bran will go back to the 3ER tree.

      • fiona says:

I would prefer that they end with an incest couple, it would be more interesting than anything else for Dany and Jon.
Unless Jon dies and Dany is pregnant and dies as she has the baby, so their baby is the “on the throne” with Tyrion, Varys an Davos acting as advisors. And Gendry and Arya get married and live in the north and Sansa can just roam around, she’s a bit useless in my opinion.
Brienne can hook up with Jamie before he dies and then live happily as a King’s Guard, occasionally having s*x with Tormund (whenever SHE wants). But not before Cersei sees that Jamie is over her and then dies.
Sam can figure out how Greyworm can impregnate Missandei so that they can live together with a family.
The rest of the characters I don’t really care about or what they do with them lol

    • Megan says:

Cersei is too smart for Euron’s game. I suspect she will murder him.

      • C-Shell says:

I like that theory a lot. But then I remembered he really doesn’t have much left to offer (other than the obvious attraction) after Yara sailed off with the fleet. God, I’m struggling to keep track.

      • Erinn says:

I think she’s incredibly smart as well – but I think she’s equally as arrogant. If anything it’ll be the arrogance that gets her.

      • Arpeggi says:

Cersei is smart and it’s safe to assume that both betrothed believe the other wants to murder them. The thing is though, is that while Cersei is smart, as Tywin said, she’s not as smart as she thinks she is and that will be her downfall. She thought she was smart for making a deal with the Sparrows, that blew up in her face (quite literally!) and the same will happen with Greyjoy and the Golden Company.

      • ReginaGeorge says:

Euron has the majority of the Iron Fleet. Theon told Dany that Yara was able to sail back with only a few ships which is why she decided to stay behind at Pyke in case Dany needed a safe haven to retreat to.

      • Miss M says:

She is not as smart as she think she is… She makes too many enemies banking on her gold. All these people have reasons to turn on her because they know she would turn on them if necessary.

      • Deedee says:

Indeed, she shall. She will be killed in turn by Jamie or Tyrion.

    • TheHeat says:

I’m hoping that all the iron-born, who are currently serving Euron, will turn and follow Yara into battle at the last minute, now that she’s returned to the Iron Islands.
I would love to see how the smug looks on Euron & Cersei’s faces change over that one!

  3. Becks1 says:

Yeah, I have no idea, lol. I assume they are going to confront Cersei, but probably not this episode, probably the episode after that.

I just cant figure out what is going to happen in the next three episodes. Another big battle? Dany destroying KL with fire? Arya killing Cersei? A Lannister brother killing Cersei? Cersei killing everyone in Westeros? Just a lot of political machinations?

Some of us were saying yesterday that there has to be “a twist” coming, but I cant think of what that would be (which of course makes it a twist, lol.) Euron selling out Cersei?

    • Jenns says:

My guess is that someone is going to lose their sh*t and the results are going to be a significant loss of life. And not just the main characters, but the people of Westeros. And maybe after that, someone will step up and point out that this small groups of elites fighting over a chair is not worth all of this.

      • Bex says:

Chekhov’s wildfire. There’s still a shit ton of it under all the buildings in King’s Landing. Dragons plus wildfire = eek.

Idk why they’re even bothering to wage war against Cersei. Send Arya into the underground passages we know she knows about from Season 1 in order to assassinate her and that’s your coup over before it’s begun.

Jaime’s the one I’m most interested to see what he does next- he made himself a traitor and came up to Winterfell basically to die with a shred of honour next to Brienne, probably not expecting to live. Now what? He had so much plot armour in that battle that he must have something left to do.

      • Jenns says:

This is what I’m thinking as well. By this point, she probably has KL rigged with wildfire. So she’ll either strike the match herself, or Dany will have Drogon blast something, which will end with KL being obliterated.

And I’m also curious about Jaime and Tyrion. Bronn will factor in somehow, since there is no way doesn’t want that money for killing them.

      • Becks1 says:

oh Jenns that’s an interesting theory about Drogon and Dany doing it. So while Cersei lays the trap, Dany is actually the one who blows up KL. Maybe Cersei even tells Dany that – “the whole city is ready to blow, so if you use your dragonfire, you are no better than your father.” That is one way to basically neutralize the threat from the dragons.

        But then what next?

I know part of the intrigue of this series is that we really don’t know what is going to happen in any given episode, but with all only three episodes to go I’m mildly annoyed that we have so little idea of what is to come.

      • Jenns says:

I think Dany inadvertently blowing up KL would make for a interesting twist. We know that she wants the throne. And with Jon, she has another threat to her reign. She doesn’t always listen to her advisors, and without Jorah around, she may ignore any warnings about possible wildfire, charge ahead on her dragons and try to take Cersi out on her own. And if that happens, and KL explodes, she will basically finish what he father set out to do–even if it isn’t intentional. And she may never be able to rule after that.

It would also fit her dream so many season ago, where we see her in a destroyed throne room, and while she’s so close to it, she walks away.

But, I also thought the NK would make it to KL, and to episode 6 or 7 at least, so I have no idea what the heck I’m talking about.

      • AryasMum says:

From everything I’ve read, there will be quite a few major character deaths. I think we’re supposed to breathe a sigh of relief after last week, and then be gutted in episodes 5 and 6. Strong rumors of a shocking death in the end.

      • Kelly says:

Of the remaining potential rulers, Jon and Dany are the only ones who seem to have some decency and moral compass. We know at this point that Cersei has no empathy for anyone who’s not her or her cronies. I wouldn’t put it past her to use King’s Landing civilian population as human shields.

It’s still likely that Varys has some of his little birds remaining in King’s Landing and they may be aware of what Cersei and Qyburn have planned. Tyrion and Jamie both know that she won’t hesitate to use wildfire when backed into a corner. Bronn may come through for the Stark/Targaryans and help them out, because Jamie and Tyrion are more likely to actually give him his castle and beautiful wife than Cersei would be. Hopefully, the people around her can convince Dany to hold off using the dragons until it’s confirmed that there isn’t caches of wildfire and anti-dragon weapons.

      • Jess says:

I’m rewatching the series and just saw a scene where Tyrion tells Bronn if anyone tries to pay you to kill me I will double their offer for you not to. I hope that’s the case here!

    • Megan says:

Side note, for all the money they spend making these episodes, why does Cersei have such a cheap looking wig?

      • AryasMum says:

It’s horrific and so unflattering. Plus, it should have grown out a bit by now.

      • Jenn says:

That is pretty much all I care about right now. Her hair is just the worst! Whyyyyy?

      • broodytrudy says:

She gets the best outfits and the worst wig. I’ve read she calls it “the turnip”.

      • Eleonor says:

When I saw the second episode, and saw Jamie, I texted a friend of mine this: “Have the Lannisters pissed off their hairstylist” ?

      • Sharon Lea says:

Its a horrible wig, but I thought Lena said the long wig was harder to wear (hot) and deal with.

    • LadyMTL says:

Yeah, there has to be some kind of Big Thing on the horizon (other than the much hoped-for Clegane Bowl) but beats me what it could be. If I had to hazard a guess I’d say maybe Dany threatens to / starts to burn King’s Landing, which makes Tyrion, Jaime, and maybe Jon turn against her? I’d hope not, because I do not want to see a ‘oh look, Dany’s going crazy’ storyline, but who knows?

      • Jess says:

Oh god I can’t watch the Hound die, I love him so much now! He’s always looked out for the girls, please let him beat the mountain so we can still see his kind little puppy dog eyes.

    • ReginaGeorge says:

      Becks1,

Miguel Sapochnik will be directing ep5. He’s their go-to, big battle director who did Hardhome, Botb, Winds of Winter (where Cersei blew up the sept), etc. So I’m expecting that to be another big battle and where more will die.

      • Becks1 says:

Ah I didn’t realize he had another episode this season. So stands to reason that that episode will have something big happening in it.

  4. Danielle says:

Sansa stays behind because there must always be a Stark in Winterfell and she’s said before that she’ll never go to King’s Landing.
I think Euron and the Golden Company will turn on Cersie. They never break a contract, but they support the Targaryians and now there are 2 of them! And dragons! If they were smart, they would back Dany and Jon.

    • Digital Unicorn says:

But the question is who is the contract with – Cersei or Euron?!?!

    • Lady D says:

Bran is a Stark too, who will probably stay behind. What purpose would he serve in King’s Landing? I must admit I am slightly miffed with Bran. In that entire battle his contribution was 3 sentences to Theon.

      • Sharon Lea says:

But Bran had to draw the Night King to him and not tip him off to Arya taking him out. Remember the Night King could tap into Bran, they had a connection. Its like Bran had to “zen out” in order to not reveal that he would send for Arya at the exact precise moment for liberation.

  5. Loretta says:

Dany is having so many beautiful outfits this season

    • Becks1 says:

She is, which makes me laugh, because what, do they travel with a full time seamstress and all these beautiful cloths and embellishments etc?

      • Totally Old says:

@becks. – Fun story. I read that one of the winter coats that Dany wears was actually a rug purchased at IKEA by the wardrobe Dept. I love that idea.

      • Deedee says:

@totally old. I think that was about Jon snow, not Dany.

  6. Gaby says:

In the trailer, there was a scene that looked like Dany raising a toast and the Northern seemed to be enjoying themselves. I really hope she allies with the North instead of the “bend the knee” crap and let them be their own Kingdom. I know that technically their “king” already bent the knee but they are obviously against it.

The next 3 epis, my guess, will be: 1- preparing to fight Cersei, 2 – fighting Cersei, 3 – ending all storylines

    • Becks1 says:

That is what I hope as well. That she says something like “if you fight with me against Cersei, and we win, you can be your own kingdom” but they enter into an alliance.

Because – the north now encompasses what was north of the wall, right? since the wall is gone and there are no more white walkers.

    • IlsaLund says:

Given the sacrifice that Dany and her armies made on behalf of the North, they should be willing to ally themselves with her. It was like Jon kept telling everyone, the North needed allies if they were going to survive and if Dany hadn’t come to help, they were toast. Also, I think the Northmen will also be out for revenge against Cersei for betraying them….she knew what they were up against and she reneged on her word and didn’t send troops North to fight in the Great War. The Great War that was essentially to save all of Westeros.

  7. Lightpurple says:

Yara is loyal to Danys so those are probably the Greyjoy ships that she took back from Euron – does he even know she took Pike back yet?

There is at least one more battle episode.

    • Bella DuPont says:

The design of the bow of the frontmost ship is definitely the Euron-built, Greyjoy ship. While the sigil is definitely Targaryen, so my guess is that’s the ship Yara stole from Euron…..she’s joined them from the iron islands to face down Cersei.

  8. Jenns says:

I’m still struggling with the fact that there will most likely be very little consequences following the battle with the NK and the AoTD.

Whatever happens, I’m hoping Cersi isn’t reduced to a one-note villain. I always found her character to be far more complex than that. And after how she strategized in regards to the NK and the AoTD, she deserves some credit.

My expectations are very low at this point, but I’m holding out some hope that the final OMG moment will be worth it and that it will usher in some kind of change to Westeros.

    • Bella DuPont says:

“I’m still struggling with the fact that there will most likely be very little consequences following the battle with the NK and the AoTD.”

Exactly…..what I’m most shocked at is (will be) the lack of medical consequences from dealing with 100’s of thousands of dead people and about a dozen survivors .

The stench alone. Where do you bury them all and how long would it take? How do you even sanitize the place, short of burning the entire thing down to the ground?

      I guess we’ll see soon.

      • ReginaGeorge says:

        @Bella,

If you zoom in on the pics you can see a slightly cropped dead body and Dany, Jon, Sansa, Arya, Tormund and Sam all have torches. There will be a massive funeral pyre for all of the dead is what I’m assuming.

    • ReginaGeorge says:

      Jenns,

Someone from reddit came up with an interesting theory that when NK branded Bran, he was able to “upload” his code metaphorically and the end will be a shot of Bran’s eyes turning blue with the cycle beginning all over again.

      • Jenns says:

I have to say that I’m over all of these theories. Not because I don’t find them interesting or well thought out, but after listening to D&D thought process, there is no way we’re going to get something that complex.

I have really tried to give them the benefit of the doubt, but some of the decisions made in S7 and S8 have just been baffling.

      • ReginaGeorge says:

Yeah. There were so many ways to go with this story. Also, I always felt they’d been over it already and rushed the show to closure. While I understand the “go out on a high note” they could have easily done two full final seasons instead of these shortened ones. Financial funding may have been an issue, but let’s keep it real. HBO knows what a rating grabber this show is. I think they would have gladly kept throwing $$$ at them.

      • Original T.C. says:

        @ReginaGeorge
They wrapped up the NK and all magic/fantasy last episode. It apparently wasn’t a favorite of their’s so I feel bad for those poor souls who still think there is a WW/NK twist. They saved the last 3 episodes for KL because the political drama and battles are what they liked about the series.

      • Arpeggi says:

@ReginaGeorge, it might not be a funding issue (because yeah, HBO would find a way to get the money) but I could see it being a staffing issue, especially for the actors. GoT has been a 10-year commitment already for many of them, it’s a demanding series to shoot for all involved and they have lots of requirements that could potentially interfere with other job offers… They’ve stalled production for a while in the hope that GRRM would finish the darn series, but had to continue because they couldn’t wait for him forever. I could see the passage time being a reason to try to finally finish the show ASAP, although I agree that finishing in 8 episodes instead of 6 wouldn’t have been a huge deal.

  9. Lindy79 says:

I’m a bit sick that Cersei won’t have to face a wave of Wights running after her. She did look pretty shook when that one went charging at her last season.

I’ve no clue how it will end but here’s the the last 3 episodes!
The burning could be more of a ritual funeral pyre thing? Also, that many dead, makes way more sense than trying to bury them all.
At least we have Hound in the back of a picture with the Stark women now…probably all we will get.

    • Jenns says:

I can’t even begin to tell you how much I want the NK to stare her down. Either by walking up to her the same way he approached Bran, or have her looking up at him on his dragon over KL. I feel like that would’ve been something that may have put the fear of death in her. I

  10. Lucy says:

I’m still high on our (non) Lady Stark cloud, but I’m calling it right now: Dany will be the one to take Cersei down.

  11. IlsaLund says:

I’m wondering if Dany left some Dothraki and Unsullied at Dragonstone and didn’t bring everyone with her to the North. It would have made sense to leave some troops behind to guard Dragonstone. I’m sure that’s where they’ll all be headed back to once they leave Winterfell.

  12. Kateeeee says:

There will certainly be a Euron doublecross but it will not take Cersei down even a peg. She knows what he is and is playing the long con. Then again, the writing has been so rushed and sloppy that maybe that is how she will go out.

I half-expect Cersei to wildfire King’s Landing again and kill everyone, escape by boat, and make Casterly Rock the new capital. And then Arya comes for her in the middle of the night and rules with her face. Not the best ending but I’d take it.

    • AryasMum says:

I can’t figure out if Cersei plans on tricking Euron into thinking he’s the father of her child. She’s a professional at that.

      • Turtledove says:

I wondered that too. At some point this season he said something like “I am going to put a prince in you.” It was *after* they had sex and I said to my husband…”wait, are they implying that he saw her naked and yet doesn’t KNOW already that she is pregnant?” I wonder if that was setting up the scene for her to make him think the baby is his???

    • Arpeggi says:

Cersei doesn’t know Euron though, she thinks she does, but she has no idea of what he can do (though I’m sure she’s aware he’s dangerous).

Since Euron can only claim the throne if Cersei dies after he gives her an heir, I wouldn’t put it past him to make sure she loses the current foetus (if she’s preggo for real), he’s too smart to really believe that the child would be his

  13. Sparker says:

Cersei’s my favourite character. You’ll always know where you stand with her, she will try to screw you every time. Makes life so much easier.

    • CherHorowitz says:

Agreeeeed. Seems to be an unpopular opinion though!

    • Becks1 says:

Oh I love Cersei. I mean she’s horrible, lol, but I love her. I think part of that is due to how good Lena Headey is in the role.

    • ReginaGeorge says:

Cersie is a delicious villain. She’s complex. You kind of felt sorry for her at times in the beginning. The firece, protecting love she had for her children *was* a redeeming quality. Also the fact that she became so bitter with Robert because he never gave a crap about her or tried to make it work. If it wasn’t him going on and on about Lyanna, he was out “hunting whores and fking boars. Or was it the other way around?” Thanks for that line Jaime!). That was something many women could understand.

But now she’s gone full tilt and I suspect she will end up being a formidable opponent.

      • AryasMum says:

I enjoy Cersei because I really like LH. I always saw Cersei’s love for her children as her one redeeming character. But she enabled Joffrey to be a monster, and her love of her children was more possessive than anything else (she only nursed Myrcella because she was jealous of the wet nurse). They were pure Lannister and fathered by her lover/brother. And she basically killed Tommen in the end and then accused him of betraying her. So now I feel she loved them as extensions of herself. It’s simply a fluke that Myrcella and Tommen were so sweet.

      • Valois says:

I never believed she loved her children. She’s a pure narcissist who saw than as an extension of herself, as Aryasmum said. It was all about „you took her away, she was mine@ when Myrcella died and she never cared about her you get children when Joffrey was still around.
Same reason she had a relationship ship with Jaime: banging your twin is the closest you’ll get to banging yourself.

  14. Miss M says:

I am still laughing at Scooter Madruger recap of the Long night. Lol
I expected more characters then. I think the next episode will be great. But I will not create expectations like I did for 8.3

  15. PlayItAgain says:

Cersei’s biggest flaw tactically is that she’s not as smart as she thinks she is. Her father nailed that a few seasons back. She thinks she’s got everything sorted, but I have a feeling that something will be revealed or happen that will eff up her plans. Euron obviously thinks he’ll be able to take the throne from her somehow, maybe someone else is planning to betray her too?

Don’t forget that Bronn is out there somewhere with a mission to kill Jamie and Tyrion. Whether he will, or will instead decide that gold really isn’t worth killing his friends…it’s a fifty-fifty chance. He’s always been very clear that he’ll kill anyone if the price is right. Will he stay that way?

    • Miss M says:

I think it is possible someone else (Euron maybe) paid Bronn a higher amount to kill her instead.

      • Lightpurple says:

Euron wouldn’t hire Bronn. He knows nothing about him. He’s also arrogant and will just do it himself. He had no problem pushing his brother Balon off a bridge.

Also, Lena Headey’s contract stipulates no scenes with Jerome Flynn so Bronn isn’t killing Cersei.

  16. Ennie says:

It’s hard to dig huge mass graves for so many dead. Imagine, so many with the Others army, plus their own dead, all while having 2 huge incinerator machines.
They need to burn them ASAP.

Edit. I think that it is kind of convenient that the more roguish Dothraki males are gone. Their culture would’ve make it hard for them to adapt to Westeros. Women who are not warriors, former slaves , and young people will be more able to adapt (if they win the war, of course).

    • Jay (the Canadian one) says:

Plus they need an efficient way to dispose of the bodies before the stench of the recently deceased becomes unbearable. My family and I already concluded that they’d burn the dead right after the last episode for these reasons alone.

  17. Totally Old says:

I think the past has shown us that Jamie has been very generous with Bronn. I just don’t see him killing Jamie or Tyrion for that matter. He will warn them she has a hit out and then he’ll ask for a nice reward! 🙂

    • AryasMum says:

Both Lannisters have been very generous with Bronn. It didn’t stop Bronn from being paid off so he would refuse to be Tyrion’s champion. Bronn cares about Bronn.

      • DS9 says:

Bronn’s refusal seemed more about a concern that he wouldn’t win than anything else.

Bronn is good at getting people to pay him to do what he was inclined to do in the first place

  18. Miss M says:

Will Jaime return to Kings landing now they defeated the dead? Will he pledge to support Dany?!

  19. starryfish29 says:

The actor playing Euron Greyjoy really sells that sleazeball persona, ugh. The real question though is how much did you/they have to lighten up those photos and how much of this stuff will we actually be able to see on screen?

  20. Texas says:

Really. Cersie’s hair would have grown by now. That short looks is hideous.

    • AryasMum says:

It’s hard to maintain that she’s the most beautiful woman in the kingdom with that hair.

    • Arpeggi says:

She keeps it short, her maids have the same haircut. It’s a Joan of Arc kind of cut, she’s the ruler, not some cutesy princess. It’s ugly for sure, but it shows that the Sparrows didn’t crush her when they cut her hair

  21. Cay says:

“Cersei and Euron Greyjoy (more like Greyf-ckboi) hanging out in Kings Landing. I can’t wait for Euron to sell her out HARD.” Every word of these 2 sentences is perfect!

  22. Veronica S. says:

I would think burning the bodies has less to do with concern over zombies (though, I’m sure that would factor), so much as the fact that it’s winter. The soil is probably far too hard packed to dig graves, sad as that sounds. Cremation would be the wisest option beyond storing the bodies on ice to await proper burial.

Wonder what fool conflict they have brewing for Dany and Sansa in the upcoming episodes given Sansa’s lines at the end of the last episode. They certainly don’t seem to know what to do with Sansa beyond have her at odds with other female characters for some godforsaken reason.

    • Mrs.Krabapple says:

I think they’re setting it up so Sansa will be the last ruler standing. They have characters practically break the 4th wall telling us “Remember, she’s really smart now!” Except they don’t know how to *show* that she’s smart. She complains all the time, but has no plans of her own. Here’s Sansa’s entire learning arc, and how she became to be so smart:

“I’m gonna lie about my Aunt’s murder to protect Littlefinger.” “I’m gonna trust Littlefinger instead of Brienne.” “I’m gonna trust Littlefinger and marry into the family that slaughtered my own family at a wedding.” “Theon, help me escape.” “Jon, fight Ramsey.” “The other houses will all join us because I’m a Stark.” “I’ll just lie to Jon about about how I learned what’s happening in the Riverlands.” “I won’t tell Jon about the army of the Vale, until enough of our men are slaughtered first.” “Jon, don’t fight Ramsey, the other houses didn’t join us, which is probably all your fault for being a bastard.” “You don’t have enough men [except the Vale, which I won’t tell you about].” “I don’t know what you should do, just don’t fight Ramsey, but also be sure to take back Winterfell.” “Kick those kids out of their castles because their fathers turned against us after the Boltons helped them retake their castles in the first place.” “It’s a good idea to undermine Jon in front of the other houses.” “I’m going to keep trusting Littlefinger even though everybody tells me not to.” “Littlefinger vs. my sister, hmmm, I don’t know who is lying to me.” “Littlefinger really did love me before he died.” “Jon, don’t go out and get dragon glass to fight the undead.” “Jon, don’t bring Dany’s armies to Winterfell to fight the undead.” “House Glover abandoned us while you were gone, Jon – but I’m sure it’s all your fault and not because I always undermine you in front of them.” “We don’t want dragons to help us fight the undead because dragons eat too much.” “I’m gonna hide in the crypts and tell Missandei how I don’t like Dany, the woman who’s outside fighting for all our lives.” “We won. Wow, I’m a great ruler!”

Thus, Sansa ends up on the throne. The end.

      • Veronica S. says:

Oh, but don’t you know Dany is just the heartless conquerer, so she deserves to die sacrificing herself? Can’t be a woman pursuing power, after all, and all that entails. That’s for the men. You can only get it by being one whose role is to essentially reap the rewards of being the one who simply reacts to everything rather than actually acting at all. *eyeroll* I like Sansa, but I’m baffled by people who think she’s cleverly written rather than a victim of the same sexist writing as Dany and the other female characters.

      • intheknow says:

hahahahaha. You got Sansa’s number. She is annoying AF. I hope Drogon eats her.

  23. TheMummy says:

I am so utterly and completely bored by the idea of spending an hour and a half episode just focused on them grieving. If that’s the case, then that’s a cop out. We only got six episodes this season, and they are supposed to be wrapping up the entire story. Wasting an hour and a half on them being sad is absurd. We the viewers can assume that they were sad and grieved.

  24. TheMummy says:

Also, I DESPISE Cersei’s hair. It looks like a hair helmet. Or hair bowl. It’s awful and unflattering and ever since they chopped it off, she’s looked terrible. You’d think they could at least have styled it somehow. No way would Cersei run around with a bad hair mop like this. She’s more vain than that.

  25. AuroraBorealis says:

Wow geez thanks for the spoiler on the headline.

    • TheMummy says:

It’s been almost a week. It’s hardly a real spoiler at this point. This show is one of the biggest pop culture phenomenon ever to exist. If you don’t think people are talking about it on the internet…especially a week later in anticipation of the next episode that is in just a couple days…I don’t know what to tell you. Once it airs, if you have not seen it, the onus is on you to avoid the internet where it might be discussed. You cannot expect the billions of people online to all agree to not talk about it pretty much as it is airing.

I just don’t get complaints like this. It sucks, but if I miss an episode, I know to avoid twitter, sites that I know discuss the show, and hell…the internet in general until I do get to watch it. You are responsible for that for yourself.

  26. Patty says:

Stay away from Reddit and Freefolk. There are some spoilers about the end of the series that have a lot of people people mad and disgusted. I just hope D&D end the show in a way that is satisfying. But I have a feeling that they’d rather go the shock value route and then end up cheapening a lot of what came before. We shall see.

    • Veronica S. says:

The fate of the Dothraki was enough to convince me D&D had no idea what they were doing, but I was accidentally spoiled about one particular character’s fate that’s put me off from the rest of the show because it infuriated me. I’m just flabbergasted at how little self-awareness they have as writers about the implications of their work.

      • Patty says:

@Veronica S. I wonder if we are thinking of the same potential spoiler. Yeah. They are hacks and there has been a noticeable decline in quality once they surpassed the books.

  27. intheknow says:

Sansa said something to Jon about Cersei that everyone is ignoring. She told Jon that “Cersei has destroyed everyone that has come up against her”. This is true. I can’t be bothered to list all the people Cersei took out. She is smart, she is cunning and she is ruthless.

Give her credit for not allowing her armies (and missing elephants) to be wiped out. She KNEW the army of the dead would totally deplete the Dothraki, Unsullied, and Northern Armies. She KNEW. When Qyburn told her in episode 2 that the dead had broken thru the wall, her response was “Good”. Listen, if I had to go thru life with lots of enemies wanting to take me out, I’d want to be like Cersei. (Thankfully, life is not like that). She watched Tywin for 40 years put the fear of g-d in his enemies and destroyed entire houses and family lines. She learned from the best + her own cunning and psychopathy. She will burn KL to the ground before she let’s anyone haul her bony ass off that throne.

Everyone is playing Checkers and Cersei is playing Chess ten moves ahead. I predict she will rip out Euron’s heart or have zombie Mountain do it. Euron thinks he will outsmart her and take the throne..Euron is a walking dead.

I am trying to predict plot twist but I can’t seem to come up with anything that would make sense. Maybe Bran will turn out to be the evil one and the Night King was the good guy??

Both Drogon and Rhaegal are alive, thought I think one or both will die and send Dany into madness/more madness. Ghost is alive. . My very very good boy Ghost. Ghost should take the throne.
